I am not really a keyboard player at all but to my uneducated ears Roland has the best sounds.
I don't know how to play piano to save my life, but I always come back to check these out. Also, Jack is back.
Love the transition from Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor to some Drum and Bass, man of many talents
Finally!! I've been waiting for your demo/review for this model. Thank you!!
I forgot Andertons was a physical store, went in last week, and youre not kiddin Jack, i was blown away by the amount of synths in there! Plannin to go back soon to try out a Polybrute
I had the random opportunity to try this in the States about a month ago and was seriously impressed. Had no idea it was such a new model. Nice to see this review!
I just brought a Roland RD88 and this thing dropped the next month. I was shocked at first, but in my opinion, it’s worth the extra $200 to get the 88. Me and my wife will be visiting London this Summer, looking forward to coming in.
Thats a bit more than a stage piano.....just imagine that sax preset through a midi wind controller. Well handy!!
Place your bets on when the replacement for that carbon dated antique, the RD 2000, will be reviewed here?
If I would want Zen-Core sounds for gigging, I would just buy the Roland Go:Keys 5
(not for piano sound tho), most other sound sound decent to my ears, some of them sound excellent.
If it is a stage keyboard, then why it has embedded speakers which add extra weight. Without USB audio I would not use it at home / studio either.
Those speakers are a lifesaver on the stage at times! I use them as my monitor - less gear to worry about. I use headphones when I want to focus on the sounds. :)
What does the RD-2000 have that this doesn’t have? And why is RD-2000 so much more expensive?
I can't understand why the operating concept of many very good and expensive pianos is still the same as it was 30 years ago? With a microdisplay and 100 thousand submenus that you have to click through one after the other. It works with other manufacturers and devices. Why not here too?
Not bad but please do an in depth review of the new Fantom EX.
Same as its predecessor just includes the ex sounds/engines on board instead of downloading them from Roland cloud.
@@alexprice5479 It seems like it looks a little different too. Does it still have the backlit faders? I'd like to see Andertons do an in depth review showcasing the EX stuff and any minor differences. It's a $600 price difference between regular Fantom 8 and Fantom 8 EX. $600 is a lot just for some added sounds.
@@MusicWizard85 that’s the problem. There are other reviews up while you wait for andertons, but there is no difference in the hardware, it’s not a good look on Roland’s part honestly
Looks cool, but man, nothing even comes close or competes with my Roland FP10 (in terms of price to performance) connected to a PC running Pianoteq, Vital or any other plugin I want and listening thought a really good pair of speakers and subwoofer. PHA4 action for 400€ and the best instrument simulations though the PC and the best quality sound through a good pair of speakers and subs. Love it to death.
Especially with the iOS version of Pianoteq for iPad, if portability is higher on the priority list, and need just great feel piano sounds.
@@kaisfp Yes, also really good. You could also connect the iPad with external speakers, dacs, amps etc. for even better quality.
Just your basic piano sounds and a few extra ... right
JX Cream preset is giving TOTO-Africa sound lol
No audio ober usb is a dealbreaker for me
Lot of fantom sounds in there
so roland made on after people loved the casio portable pxs1100 to3100 and pxs 6000 to 7000
Does the RD-08 or RD-88 have the option to run it on batteries (like the Casios)?
Honestly, it does sound kind of sterile. I've heard better from Roland. Basically it sounds like the Go keys 3 I own, which is fine for a entry level keyboard but rather disappointing for a "pro" stage piano. They should have focused on acoustic instruments instead of including those "futuristic toy sounds".
I feel exactly the same, it's gonna do well with midi (the only purposeful thing about this keyboard)
Sounds wise it smells of Zencore which is really underwhelming.
Very very very very Bad....
Awful grand piano sounds compared to Yamaha, Kawai and Nord 😏
Sounds awful, Jack. Very thin and tinny - cheap sounding. Bad audio hookup on your end?
sounds great on my Dolby Atmos Sony Amp...
Nothing thin!
doesnt sound great to me. its pretty thin ….. any rd sas sounds on it from the 80’s i miss my rd250s
Sounds really bland,Might be nice just for midi usage. No way this will be preferred over a modx or even some low end Casio stage pianos
^^^ seriously.? At what point at all has Roland come into the video and tried to compare with a device like a modx? It’s a basic, entry level stage piano that can put out a reasonable range of pre-selected sounds … yet you expect it to be something that’s double the price ???
these things are boring Anderton's.... we want synthesizers not "piano" junk
Yeah but some of us can play with more than one hand😂
Some of us have to sit through synth videos to get to the piano/keyboard videos.
