The quickest way to end the slave trade was to pay off the slave owners, if not it would have taken much longer to end it and would have meant more people ended up in slavery.
It was at the time the least worst choice.

The whole world had slavery. Why just the UK gets targeted to pay reparations? We have learned from this. However another form of slavery still happens in this country. How do I know you asked. I work in an employment that deals with modern day slavery.
