@@2msvalkyrie529 Given that the UK has a shortage of one million skilled and unskilled workers, and that in order to be able to increase production, we need these vacancies to be filled, we NEED migrant workers. Private equity that only gives a shite about quick bucks and selling debt. Not decent affordable homes and community programs.

*6) The government devises and agrees a Codified (Written) Constitution there are not enough safeguards for the UK's democracy. There is the ever-present danger of an extreme populist government to turn the UK into a one-party authoritarian state.
More migration.?? Was 650,000 net last year not enough..?
@@2msvalkyrie529 Given that the UK has a shortage of one million skilled and unskilled workers, and that in order to be able to increase production, we need these vacancies to be filled, we NEED migrant workers. In fact, every developed nation apart from Japan DEPENDS upon migrant workers.
Japan would benefit greatly from a migrant workforce, but their society is xenophobic to the Nth degree, so their economy has been stagnating for decades because they're unwilling to allow migrant workers into their country.
With an ageing population, the UK will go the same way as Japan unless we accept the need for migrant workers.
Migrant workers pay their taxes, and contribute to the UK economy.
And I for one have no problem whatsoever hearing a variety of languages being spoken when I walk down the street. But then, I'm not a racist or a xenophobe.
One other point which you have ignored is that a lot of UK citizens are emigrating - to New Zealand, Canada, Australia, some to Europe. This is especially true of doctors and nurses who have had a pretty raw deal in recent years. So we need migrant workers to replace the people who have left the UK or who are about to leave the UK.
We need care workers, builders, vets, butchers, engineers, you name it, we need them.
Unless you're a racist, why would you be against this?
Starmer is a disaster
If looney left Channel 4 don't like Starmer then he really is in trouble
He is just a stepping stone. That's the frightening truth.
Go eat your gammon.
@@jay64j Expand on your intellectual comment.
@@Flat-White he doesn't need too most of us understood your pushing random propaganda probably from Douglas Murray. So better to dismiss it with four words as the nonsense it is
Thingy Thangy is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE TO POLITICS- Fazia you are a credit😊
My god Thangam Debbonaire is unbearable
So glad I voted Green, when I see Thangam Debbonaire defending Labour's policy on Gaza. Well done Faiza Shaheen for calling out Labour on this and other issues. You are far more impressive than the arrogant Debbonaire, as all the comments here show.
Yes indeed.
Policy like resuming funding to UNRWA who were actively involved in Oct. 7th?
Ah yes ! The Channel 4 Echo chamber...😂
Where you get such a variety of opinions.
Similar to The Guardian in that respect...
@@LAMF24 That's simply not true. UNRWRA is made up of over 30,000 personnel working across five areas of operations,.There were NINE Hamas supporters found to have been involved in Oct 7th and they have since been fired but you won't be able to provide evidence that the organisation as a whole was involved in the attack. To pull funding from them for their work in saving lives is ridiculous. When I heard that they'd lost funding it motivated me to send them some money myself because I knew UNWRA makes the difference between life and death for hundreds of thousands of people.
@@LAMF24 I’m sure you have loads of evidence of this: or maybe the Israeli government told you?
YEAH BLAME THE TORIES FOR LABOUR INCOMPETANCE
The first hundred days of this government is like opening a packet of malteasers and realising that’s not what they are!
Thangam Debbonaire needs to go and do some self analysis. She is everything what is wrong with this administration. She is arrogant, so loud, brash and unable to effectively debate.
And. My Opinion. All M.P.s should hand back All FREEBIES. NOT A MERE £6000
Happy for political journalist to have the freebies though correct? They have as many as the MP's.
@@nicksimmons7234 they didn't say that, stop making excuses
I reckon Debbonaire is going to become more and more disliked by Bristol Central after this conversation. As for not being at the cabinet table. She's demonstrated how bitter she is for losing.
And when labours position on Israel Palestine was brought up, she really didn't understand why people are sick to death of Starmer.
Nor was housing discussed, which is a massive issue in Bristol. What's she got to say about labours woeful action on housing? Nothing about rent controls, no fault evictions, higher council tax on people with multiple properties? I can't see Starmer doing any of the things.
All they talk about is building more homes, all relying on private equity to deliver. Private equity that only gives a shite about quick bucks and selling debt. Not decent affordable homes and community programs.
Her seat was Bristol West.
The new seat of Bristol Central is solely within the old boundary of Bristol West. It does not contain the council wards of Bishopston & Ashley Down, Easton or Lawrence Hill. No matter as all the council seats were already held by the Greens prior to the GE whether looking at the old or new boundary. It should have been one of the safest Labour seats in England. Thangham threw away a massive
majority but her arrogant attitude was very much part of the reason.
There could be a Cry to remove Starmer after the Budget on 30 October, if they blow that.
The cuts in this episode were illuminating
Why are we still listening to these people that keep getting it wrong.
How could anything be worse!!!
Why is a labour hack who lost her seat despite all the money allowed on a show even?
Triumphs??? Great Britsh energy, will see bills rise and will show no benifits for at least 10 years! Renationalise the railway because British Rail was such a success! Bravo
I love Faiza Shaheen 🙌
With her record!
Me too.
😂😂😂😂
Apply to be a train driver folks they’ll be earning more than politicians soon!
What.....spending £22b on what exactly!!!!
Its hard to stress quite how poorly that Thangam lady comes across. Career politician vibes, out of touch and no clue how arrogant, smarmy, and thick they come across. We need to get more human beings into politics and less of these evil lizard people types.
20 grands worth of suits and 2 grands worth of glasses?....it was actually 2 donations of £16,000 making £32,000, and one of those donations was initially 'mistakenly' registered as office expenses....Get it right FFS.
You need reminding of what the corrupt tories have been up to for the last 14 years, you try to smear Labour, Cameron May JohnsonTruss Sunak and the rest of the crooks should be on trial and jailed, you bastards
Faiza could have been a major asset for Labour.. such a shame what they did to her 😐
She did it to herself clown
Glad to see channel 4 having a non biased panel lol😂
Yes they have changed, to disaster!
There are dozens of reports both in the UK and abroad, that point out Lammy and Starmers gross failings. Not one report praising their work or them. Get Starmer and Lammy out before they ruin us.
If Thangham thinks the UK had no influence can she explain why we are one of the five top members in the UN?
Declining ex colonial power ,I always wonder why .It's simply based on the second World War .
I hate most is the CGT rise, that is double/treble taxation. This is disgusting!
Personally I would prefer a wealth tax on anyone with over 10m in assets like the Greens have proposed. However it does make sense to tax capital gains at the same rate as income because if your income is say from dividends only you are most likely wealthier than most and paying tax at a lower rate than most
I voted Green.
No regrets.
Me too. Why would we vote Labour?

Thank you for letting Thangham Debonnaire show us her views, she has really set herself a long way down in my estimation.
Is this the same Fiasa who wanted to be part of the clan until she was rumbled. Wrong un
Exactly. ! She ought to have joined the SWP
rather than infiltrating the Labour Party..
And she could please take Owen Jones and other assorted Trots with her..?
Let them stand on their " real " platform
and see how many votes they get..??
I am *SHOCKED* - _having not had a TV for many years_ - I'm *shocked* that Cathy Newman is still working in the media.
I bet no one outside of C4 can stand Cathy Strawman.
Politics is finished God will return and the people will be set free
Thingy thingy is incredibly rude, talking over everyone. Sound as if she been reading 📖 up on Rev Keir, 🤓🤓think she wants a job
Faiza is brilliant!
er.......Why ??
@2msvalkyrie529 her points were valid and powerful... granted it was at times difficult for her to communicate with that moron thangham interrupting and shouting over her... but her points were spot on...
check her record clown 😂
Not much ‘diversity of thought ‘ there channel 4, no tories or reform politicians 😂
Paul is a Tory
Faiza is so talented - the Labour party knew what they were doing when she was kicked out. She's leadership material. Thangam has learned 0 lessons about her loss and has changed her tune about Labour - clearly wanted to run again. Keir even spelled her name wrong when she lost! I'm so glad Bristol saw sense.
As a listener…although I doubt you read the comments…I gave up after all the interruptions to the speaker. Make a rule that each person is allowed to make their point in turn. There’s nothing more annoying than everyone speaking over each other and often the original point is lost as the interrupted replies to the interrupter
We were warned about his illicit connection with Saville to get Charles off da hook
The rich will just get up and leave!
Good
It is strange how they completely forgot or ignore, to talk about how they get the money to pay for the war in Ukraine and Israel
Nothing is more frightening than the Goverment we’ve got!
Change? Same old BS from Thangam. She’s probably hoping to get a highly paid job like that other failure, Ashworth.
Sir. Should be Spelled CUR.. Mr. Starmer
The rich are not going anywhere. They are rich. They go exactly where they want when they want. Some tiny tax twiddles will make no difference.
Faiza is a saint for putting up with all that NOISE coming from her immediate left!
Even people who haven’t got a lot of money but have worked hard and saved hard so they could help their families are thinking of leaving.
Noi dont want any change from this evil party get out now
Labour la la land. "I voted for a ceasefire with Starmer" - that will have a huge impact for both sides because they have such a huge international influence. I wonder if the Labour representative went to Athens on Alli airlines on a Waheed package deal.
Labour did not make difficult choices, they made deliberate cuts targeting the vulnerable. Starmer got on his knees to appease the well paid in Unions & they will keep him on his knees with more unreasonable demands - he will be viewed as a weak, sycophantic cash cow to be constantly milked.
if ever there is a prize for pretending to be smart but actually is not, Cathy Newman gets my vote
Gosh the ignorance is astounding
They haven't 'Nationalised "one single train yet.
What the Railways will look like and, most importantly, the fare structure has not been explained in any way
She's far from being debonair.
The little we give Israel allows F-35s to fly.
Did Debonair get free tickets to Israel?
It's proven being a broad church political party is always going to be a pain in the backside.
I can tell Faiza, having worked at the UN (not just speaking to a couple of pro-Hamas Ambassadors) that the UK’s views count for very little at the UN in major international disputes. At most, the UK has a very little bit of extra authority as a P5 member to convene member states, but less than a non-P5 member like India or Brazil.
In 2008 when we bailed out the banks we bailed out the wealth of those who had made spectacularly bad investment decisions. In return we got 14 years of decline. The arrogance of these people, to take their ball in when they might have to pay a bit of tax, is breath taking
They didn’t promise change in a certain time period.. 🙄🙄🥴🥴🥴😎
Labour goverment full of 403 PM,s
Define "change" and its broader connotations, Radical change is never a really good thing, Gradual is better, 100 days in and its the end of the world for some people.
Before you ask or comment I don't support Labour.
Debbonaire's views are at such variance with reality that she shouldn't be allowed out.
