Full wishes for a speedy recovery. We are born and bred of Norwich with the wish to entertain while providing information to people, something that I feel was inspired by yourself. This is an important message, and I hope more men will be open to getting checked. It has always been taboo but I suppose it's messages such as this which may well make it a lot easier for us to talk about these problems and admit to them. If one thing cancer is good at, it's hiding away from discussions because of its nature. Perhaps going forward we can all reflect and be more open about it.
What a brave and informative video Stephen, thank goodness thst you have a very vigilent doctor a lesson there to all males to get their PSI level checked. Here's wishing you all the very best for a long and happy life.
@DYKGaming, Bless you love - You have summed that up beautifully and I believe it highlights the truth that males in general must check themselves like us women do and, of course, never be afraid to visit their Doctor for regular checkups as well as if they feel something is not right, as like Stephen himself shows can prove vital in detecting anything astray or maybe not otherwise noticed as important healthwise to a male. - if he had not gone for his annual influenza injection, then his cancer may not have been found sooner and action taken so swiftly and could have progressed even more, perish the thought. Stephen is indeed a very special gentleman in so many ways, one of our national treasures, I love him to bits, bless his heart. And yes, I wish him a full recovery but just as importantly, I like you said, agree totally that he has really helped ( judging by the males within this comment section ) how immensely important it is to openly speak about male health and any kind of health issues such as prostrate cancer etc, men's health in general like women's too, should not be a taboo subject or a something hidden away, but openly natural to discuss and, without embarrassment.
I adore how humble Fry is, he acts like he’s unimportant and nobody would care, but when a video is released on it, he gets 1 million views in a day! Shows what an icon and national treasure Fry really is.
Did you not watch the video? He made this months after he found out, because he didn't think anyone would care before, plus he didn't expect this type of reception, just thought it would be a small update video.
gespilk who cares? He's a wonderful, warm, intelligent and caring person. That's what matters in the long run, no?

One of my friends had cancer, he was in his twenties (very unlucky). The cancer treatment caused him to have a stroke and he basically lost function of one side of his body, leg, arm and vision were affected. And because life loves to kick you when you are down, his girlfriend felt more sorry for herself then him when he got the stroke. She started to show the classic signs of planning to leave him, right after the stroke. Not to look like a totally terrible person, she stayed a few months before leaving him. She is a disgusting person, I knew it the moment I met her but I said nothing because he seemed happy and content. This all happened many years ago but I still am thinking about it and second-guessing myself about it. All those lovely "what if" scenarios. What do you think? Would he have been better off without her when he got the stroke? On the good side he survived and have a pretty good life because of his friends and family helping him constantly now but I still worry about him. She even deleted his facebook account a few weeks after she had left him. It were never confirmed but it is her style and she knew his login information. All those pictures and memories gone. Probably because there were pictures of her and him in the hospital. Removing the evidence of what she really is.
I was panicking a bit at the beginning, but am VERY glad to hear you are recovering. I can't speak for anyone else, but I definitely enjoy life with you around. Be well Mr. Fry.
Stephen Fry is not just a UK treasure but a world treasure. The idea of losing him before he is ready is very nearly like a stab. Nothing but the best and get well soon and be well.
The website you are currently on is called youtube and is an excellent way to look up videos and information about things, people, actors, comedians, intellectuals, and quite interesting things
the one all in black I went on it and only found this video of some old guy who bored me soo much I turned off after 60 seconds. Still don't know who he is and by now I really don't care lol
You have millions of friends all over the world whom you have never met but who are rooting for you, Stephen. You are greatly loved and hugely admired.
Glad they caught it in time Mr Fry, I hope for you a full speedy recovery and a long healthy life. You are loved by literally generations of us, for so many different reasons. We look forward to seeing you in your endeavours for many years to come.
Damn it Fry, stop making me laugh while making me want to cry! Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, we need to keep men of your stature and integrity around as long as we can. With little robots if necessary.
Stephen, I want to thank you for this video. Well, because you are important to me and even though I don't know you personally, I have come to respect and admire you very much. I look forward to another video in fifteen years when you get your knee replaced. I send you my best regards and love, James, a stranger you don't know who cares about you. (one of millions)
"I don really know what a prostate is"....you didn't say that when you teenage boyfriend was pounding your shithole Stephen...PERVERT!..DISGUSTING!....and this man is regarded as a fucking respected celebrity and hero....what has the world come to?
I really love Stephen Fry a genius who doesn't treat you as stupid but still explains things some people may not understand, also he seems like such a lovely man, always wanting people to be kind to each other, such a great message. I hope you keep recovering well
You are an extraordinary person who contributes to the betterment of humanity in unusually creative and diverse discourse. Perhaps it is time for you to give less to us and more to yourself. Best wishes and thank you.
A strong character in all his convictions. A wonderful human being. An inspiration for a whole generation. Stay strong Stephen, the world still needs you, now more then ever.
Well done Stephen Fry for putting Prostate cancer in the spot light. It has to be one of the biggest killers of men in the U.K. By our very nature, we tend to ignore the possibility of anything being medically wrong with us. If just one man is inspired to visit his G.P. after watching this video... and as a result has his cancer detected and treated in time, then this video has been very worthwhile. I wish you a speedy recovery Stephen.
I think last year did rather well with the whole celebrity deaths and all. We deserve to have this year off, and Stephen in particular should just be excused from any such things.
The measure of the man. At a time when he is surely not at his best; to say the least; he takes the time and energy to consider other people who might also suffer a similar plight Can only admire the dignity and selflessness of the man. Get well soon Sir, am looking forward to seeing you back on our tv screens very soon.
The words "national treasure" are thrown about all too often, not unlike the word "genius". You sir are both, but much more importantly a decent man who genuinely cares about others. If there was any man deserving a knighthood it is you. I also owe you a massive debt for how your openness has helped my daughter on her life journey, as I know it has many for many thousands of other people. I too found real happiness later in life, and I fully understand your comment about enjoying life at the moment. I obviously wish you a full recovery both physically and mentally and I certainly wish you many more years of happiness. Take care, look after yourself and tell your husband the nation expects him to be spoiling you, and thank you for being you.
I think we can all agree that we are relieved to hear of his recovery, he is a treasure to many generations of folks. I hope he is on our planet for many more years.
"I don really know what a prostate is"....you didn't say that when you teenage boyfriend was pounding your shithole Stephen...PERVERT!..DISGUSTING!....and this man is regarded as a fucking respected celebrity and hero....what has the world come to?
if gays admitted they are "abnormal", id be cool.......but we will end up "full circle"...mark my words...in the next 10-15 years youll have examples were straight men are "shamed" for being into women (and I think the whole "mee too" agenda will act as a Catalyst for this and play into it)......you might find an example where (when governments keep records of our web searches),any prominent media/public figures who speaks against government marxist agenda can potentially have their searches "leaked" and be shamed for (for example, googling a pair of tits).........so youll have examples of straight men being shamed and publically humiluated in public for being straight and liking a pair of" big tits"(or whatever the fuck he is into)...............................we will come "full circle" and the gays (who for years have been saying that they shouldn't be "shamed" for being gay) will be the biggest hypocrites of all by not rushing to the defence of a straight man who will be publically shamed for his sexual preferences (which he cant control,, apparently)...................................................but please,,if I'm wrong, please give me some assurances that the scenario ive presented wont come to fruition? it will help me sleep better.........................better yet,,,why isn't FRY speaking out against REAL issues like governments keeping all our web searches?..this is a massive infringement on our privacy rights....................im telling you,,FRY is a FRAUD!
studmalexy grow up. Homosexuality is natural, found amongst many in the animal kingdom, and the me too movement is a platform to speak up about sexual assault/ harrassment, not ones preferences. It's honestly cowardly as hell and extremely juvenile to post this on such a video topic. Perhaps I could direct you to the nearest area with a colouring pad and crayons, since that's where your intelligence and decorum level seems to be. Your ignorance and unwanted opinion isn't welcome here. Go troll somewhere else with your abhorrent assholery. 0/10.
Anon Ymous yawn. Yes it is natural, since it is found amongst more species in the animal kingdom than just us. Google is your friend. Homophobia is not. Once again, 0/10. I'm no longer replying to anyone who can't form a reasonable coherent argument. I said what I said. This man is a national treasure, end of.
Even while explaining something so life threatening to about his medical issues, he holds so much grace and educates you while giving an explanation. Glad to hear he caught it early. Legend!
I didn't think I could love this guy anymore, such a pragmatic and rational attitude. No fuss, no nonsense, went and sorted it and told everyone with little fuss after the fact. I hope it's gone and he lives many many more years, the world needs as many of his kind as possible.
Stephen Fry you are such a treasure to me and so many others. You have filled many moments of my life with laughter, brought me knowledge of subjects I'd never have thought existed and my world is undoubtedly a better place with you in it, even though we've never met. So get well soon please, be strong! Much love xxxxxxx
Britain's grandad? 1. that isn't how you spell granddad, and 2. I know we all love him but is he necessarily a granddad? let alone the whole of Britain's one?
Darth McCarthy actually, "grandad" is the general spelling in England, but the other one is also acceptable. And I was referring to the national affection people here hold for Stephen- it's akin to that of a grandad x
In this 12,59 you, Mr. Fry, have done more to inform on this taboo subject than any campaign I have ever seen or heard. Many wakings in health be yours for years and years, and thank you.
Thanks so much for your message Stephen and may your recovery continue. It would be rather nice to have you around for a long time yet. You've given me a reminder, I'm a young and healthy 75 year old, I think I'm doing well but I'll bring it up with my doctor whom I'll see in just over a week. One can't be too careful with cancers of any type although I dealt successfully with one about 45 years ago. A slightly older friend of mine had some kind of treatment for a prostate problem and he didn't experience any pain at all, he was rather amazed at how painless the procedure was. Many thanks for your alerting us older guys to the problem.
Stephen Fry you are an awesome person, I have incurable cancer and it sucks! I try and share positivity and light with the world. You're a legend, someone I always though was awesome. Good luck and I wish you all the best :)
A L thank you so much :) I'm shocked at all the hate people are giving Stephen it's pants he is a great dude! So much respect for him and to expose it this way is not easy! Trust me!
DavidCAdams lol im a londoner and you either speak very poshly and have an extensive vocabulary and refer to people like “toger” or you are an absoloute chav and call people roadmen lol
You're strong, and it's obvious you're a survivor. And I'm glad you chose to share your story, to spread awareness of this type of big bad C. Thank you for being so brave. But remember this very important fact: I am very jealous of your bookshelves. ;-)
You are so sweet to address your fans directly. I know it must have been terrifying, but as a family member of other survivors and as a physician, I can reassure you that your prognosis is absolutely excellent. I send you great love and wishes for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. And I'm so pleased you are feeling happy to be alive!
+Reading Nomad Nonsense!!! Stephen Fry has always been typically English, quite self deprecating, not showing any like for being in the spotlight outside of the roles he plays. Trot along and paint your negativity over your friends, as few as they be.
Nev Anderson - Eh? Even he admits he likes the limelight. And as for his twitter hissy fits... then there were his mental troubles. Then his awful rants about self-pity... and as for that fairly "shameful" marriage... Fry isn't your "friend". Deal with reality.
Mr. Fry, you're too humble to admit that you have a legion of admirers. We're the lucky ones because you are one of the last few persons who continue to inspire and give us hope when there's none to be found. You are a hero and I love you as much as I love my family.
Steven, please never apologise for taking up my time, there are few people in the world I would rather give my time to than yourself. Your openness about this issue - and your openness about your mental health issues - can only serve to help others going through the similar experiences. I wish you a speedy recovery and many, many years of health & happiness.
Thank you for sharing this. I'm 48 and have been diagnosed with the same after a routine blood test / PSA test. I also had an MRI followed by a biopsy. My Gleeson score is 6. My operation is next week. I'm so glad you are doing well. Kind regards, Matt.
Im touched by your elegant yet humble , openly yet discrete, witty yet serious way to talk about such serious matter. Get well Sir Fry ! Get well.. you tought me more than just love the english language
fuckfannyfiddlefart how about not concerning yourself with how other people feel? I've seen you all over these comments, ironically like a cancer yourself, if you don't like or respect Fry, then fuck off away from the video? Doesn't seem too difficult to me.
Whenever anyone asks me about my perfect dinner party guests, you sir are always the first name that immediately, and almost aggressively flies from my lips. You have this aura of a person that could literally teach God things about religion that he didn't know. Get well soon, you have a nation to entertain! 💛💙💜❤❤
I can't applaud you enough for helping to break down the silence and embarrassment of men's cancers. I work as a nurse and I have seen a lot of patients who weren't as lucky to be diagnosed and treated quickly. It's wonderful that you can tell your story and encourage others to be brave and get a check up 😊
Yes, it's so important to get checked. Thanks to a routine screening my Dad's aggressive cancer was caught relatively early, giving us another 13 years with him that we otherwise wouldn't have had.
Aardvark 25 No, it does not cure cancer. Please stop spreading false information. It causes people to put off or cease getting treatment, or seeing a real doctor. A healthy diet may help PREVENT some forms of cancer or DECREASE certain risk factors BUT IT DOES NOT CURE CANCER. Trust me, I work quite closely with people being treated for a variety of cancers and never once has a fancy diet "cured" a single cancer. You should google Belle Gibson, an Australian scam artist spreading fake information and false hope to those suffering from cancer. Please educate yourself
胖胖Panda cancer thrives in animals that are high in inflammation. Lower the Inflammation in your body. Cleanse and get a healthy immune system and your body will naturally fight cancer. Your body creates cancer from toxins and chemicals that are in your body. There's a reason DOMESTICATED animals have a very high chance of getting cancer and other diseases while wild animals rarely get cancer. Because of their DIET
They got it early big chap, you are one of the "Lucky" ones, you are still here after all and i wish you a recovery to the best health that nature allows after such a procedure.. Enjoy every breath and live long my friend! Don't forget the jokes! Luv Ya!
Definitely one of the lucky ones :) I am shocked at the amount of hate in the comments, I even got a bashing myself for commenting. His attitude to it has been great and it has raised a ton of awareness which I am all for as I try do that every day with my cancer vlog, it's not easy telling the world you have cancer!
Dear Mr Fry, what a wonderful way of easing fellow men in having their prostates checked. Mine came out in 2014 at the age of 54 , robotically, like yourself," never will happen to me" was my thoughts beforehand. Very pleased that it did not spread. I am now 0.000008 psa, and yes erections are not a problem after the 1 st 6 months. Enjoy life and keep up teaching the masses proper English, Kind wishes!!
The world would be poorer , less civilized and somewhat dumber without Fry. Keeping all available fingers and toes crossed that they really got it all.
That man is just incredible, goes through a horrible traumatic experience and then makes a video to raise awareness for prostate cancer. who could not love Stephen Fry. absolute legend
Yep.Hope he has a speedy recovery.I have always watched "A bit of Fry & Laurie" & "Jeeves & Wooster" with a smile on my face.Wish him all the very best.
Sir, you have always entertained as well as educated whenever you speak, and I should have expected the same level of public spirit when you have an illness. You always have given happiness, and now you help the rest of us by encouraging attention to our health. Keep going! There are a great many of us who admire you and wish to see you continue. Thank you.
My mother is a two-time cancer survivor. She's extremely lucky that both only needed surgical intervention. I'm so glad you're on the healing end and I wish you all the luck on hitting that 5 year mark (and beyond)! I'm so glad you're spreading awareness and that early intervention is what saved you. All the best!
I hope he doesn't make a recovery. He is an ugly human being with a crooked nose. He believes we're all just animals without a soul and no afterlife. He believes he will just be ashes and soil in the ground after his body decomposes from cancer.
For the atheist, what is the purpose of recovery from cancer if he is just an animal that should have euthanasia or abortion? If you're just a piece of meat without a soul or purpose in life? Think about it. This is what atheism teaches.
If Stephen Fry leaves atheism out of his comedy, then I will leave religion out of the comments. I care that Stephen Fry has a crooked nose. What happened to him? Was he in a car accident? Did he make a bad joke, and then someone punched him in the face? It's ok to bring up atheism when you want euthanasia, abortion, or polygamy. But when your idol is suffering from cancer, then it's suddenly not ok to bring up atheism? Are you scared of your own sad reality? Do you think the "dark truth" is that we will all end up as black nothingness? Is that what you believe?
If you're trying to ignore me, you're not doing a very good job. I just exposed your core beliefs that we're all animals that are aimlessly eating food, going to the toilet, flushing it, and sleeping. You believe we have no souls, no afterlife, and no purpose. You believe we're just like chimpanzees that are screeching at each other. You can try as hard as you can to ignore me, but you can't escape the fact that you are an atheist dipshit.
I cannot believe I haven't seen this until now. Dear Stephen you are a world treasure and I wish you all the best in your ongoing recovery. I love the very non-boring way you explained this. May you live forever! Seriously stay safe, from Australia, cheers
Steven, You saved my life once out of the blue, when I was 50 (56 now) by explaining my life to me and the fact that I am bipolar in your amazing documentary. I and others are eternally thankful and praise you for that forever. Now not only do I feel for you in your present nightmare. I find myself feeling exactly the same I did, that second when you saved my life the first time. When you enlightening my thoughts and allowed my mind to make perfect sense over my never ending turmoil within my life. I have issues like you explained again, which again with your honest and true openness and heartfelt wisdom allows me to face up to the truth. Just, like you did before. SO!!!!! Yes, I will now get checked out and thanks again for saving my life, maybe twice now! Thank you ‘SO’ much Steven, I truly can say I owe you the life which I now have which I’m living to help street dogs in Asia and coming up with moral solutions to solve the world food issues. So when you lay there with fear or maybe a sad thought in your head. PLEASE just think of the smiles, the mornings, and the saved life’s your wisdom, honesties and that fundamental LOVE within you which you give and are still giving thought-out your own nightmares. It should bring a nice tear and a warm smile to you. If you give you get and you have given a lot, Sir! Love and Light my very good man. You are always welcome and loved in my life. Never forget that. Warren xxxxxxxxxxxx
You are a bright spot in a rather dismal universe. I look forward to seeing many more of you're videos/documentaries. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
We'll all be listening to your magnificent impressions in the Harry Potter audiobooks and your quick wit on QI hoping that you make a full recovery. Get well soon mate x
I wish you all the best Stephen. I have prostate cancer now, the third time I have cancer. As I survived the previous two I am beginning to think the even death can't kill me. Anyway, keep a positive attitude, keep enjoying life whatever it throws at you.
OH FUCK!!! My wife & I are SOOO glad that this was discovered in time & has had the appropriate treatment! You sir did not ramble nor bore with this message. I am sure that I speak for many people that wish you a long time in our futures. Take care dear chap & get well soon.
Stephen, you are my absolute favorite person and I love you with all of my heart. Love to meet you, and I hope you are healthy and happy. -Spencer (fan for 10~ years from los angeles)
We love you Stephen, stay strong with our warmest thoughts. Millions of us feel like we know you and share in the sadness of this occasion whilst hoping for the best outcome. Hugs 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing Mr. Fry. I'm 59, I was diagnosed stage 4, like you gleeson score 9 just over 2 years ago at age 56. I chose nine weeks of daily radiotheraphy and have been on androgen suppression therapy or androgen deprivation for just over 2 years. Neither is nice, the ADT treatments change your body embarrassingly. However, you will do anything to stay with the people you love and protect, it's not so much dying as it is not wanting to leave the ones you love behind. GOOD HEALTH to you.
if gays admitted they are "abnormal", id be cool.......but we will end up "full circle"...mark my words...in the next 10-15 years youll have examples were straight men are "shamed" for being into women (and I think the whole "mee too" agenda will act as a Catalyst for this and play into it)......you might find an example where (when governments keep records of our web searches),any prominent media/public figures who speaks against government marxist agenda can potentially have their searches "leaked" and be shamed for (for example, googling a pair of tits).........so youll have examples of straight men being shamed and publically humiluated in public for being straight and liking a pair of" big tits"(or whatever the fuck he is into)...............................we will come "full circle" and the gays (who for years have been saying that they shouldn't be "shamed" for being gay) will be the biggest hypocrites of all by not rushing to the defence of a straight man who will be publically shamed for his sexual preferences (which he cant control,, apparently)...................................................but please,,if I'm wrong, please give me some assurances that the scenario ive presented wont come to fruition? it will help me sleep better.........................better yet,,,why isn't FRY speaking out against REAL issues like governments keeping all our web searches?..this is a massive infringement on our privacy rights....................im telling you,,FRY is a FRAUD!...spread this and FIGHT against your government, before its fucking too late!
Terry Shilo I have an aggressive form of cancer, I'm 32 and its incurable. I vlog about it daily and it takes nothing but courage to tell people about it and hope they take it well. I hope that Stephen Fry has inspired people to get checked and learn more about it :)
Mr. Fry -- Please take care of yourself and you will feel better. Spend time with your husband and family. You are very brave to help people by making this announcement . Here's to life, health, love and the time it takes to do it!
Louise Charlesworth I was thinking of something else as "endearingly" English the other day. Now I don't remember what it was because Stephen Fry epitomizes the idea to me.
Half Slovakian, and it was his Slovakian grandfather who looked almost exactly like him. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just saying that sometimes one's perception of what nationalities look like might be a bit unclear. And indeed, I live in Prague, and I do sometimes see a 'Fry-esque' type of facial phenotype walking past. Once, and that once was amongst the most climactic moments, I saw a ticket inspector on the subway (there are no ticket machines per se so they tend to do random inspections on the passangers). This man, a chiseled face, crooked nose, looking past all the passerbies as the escalators that go up from one of the central station's hall begin: the look and stance was exactly like that of Stephen Fry in the Homeless Busker vs. Policeman sketch - arms folded behind, head and body of this extremely tall figure leaned very forward as he with a significant brow upon his uneven eyes and precise, angry eyes tried to discern from the subconscious behaviour of the passengers upon seeing him which one could be the culprit that dares not to buy a ticket and rides free. Under that yellowish tint of the station lights, the city passing by, this motionless obelisk of a man, massive in stature, stood by as if stopped in a moment of explosive rage. "My life is one of expensive food and luxury yachts, it's 1989 and you all are enemies of our culture" would only be proper for him to shout. As he stood there in his large leather coat hanging to the ground, I understood that I have met a different Fry. A Fry that could have been. A Fry that perhaps, somewhere, is, and comes to light only in certain moments. A Fry of haunt, a Fry of deepest rage and a Fry looking past the masses. Seeing the evil of men. Anyway. Tl;dr you meet people that look eerily like Fry here sometimes, it's no wonder that he's half from here.
@@Richard_is_cool As I recall, his maternal grandparents, Martin and Rosa Neumann were Hungarian Jews who emigrated from Upper Hungary, Šurany (now Slovakia).
@@Tudvari Exactly. And, on a photograph shown in a documentary, his maternal grandfather looked almost exactly like him. English people claim good looking facial features as "quintessentially" English when that might not be the case. Whether that is part of a colonialist mindset I'll leave be. :D
Really got me worried there. You belong in my world. You are such an enlightenend and decent renaissance man. So few left, so very few left. Live your wall paper.🇸🇪
Lucky because: To keep a poet, journalist, actor, author, presenter, radio host, debater, lecturer and activist among many other of his contributions making the world a better place.
@Dapper Dan How does your homophobia make the world better in any way? Stephen Fry is a role model. His shows makes people laugh, his acting entertains, his books makes you think and he's been great in educating people and raising awareness about mental illness. How do you fail to see that these things makes the world better? His sexual orientation is completely irrelevant.
Dear Mr. Fry, to me you are among the most important people in the world. I’ve come, over the years to become infatuated with you, the same way I am with Peter Ustinov, and a number other brilliant individuals, some of which I do not know their names, but their work I was given so much to the world. You still have so much to give the world, not only in entertainment other facets of civilization, or that which makes civilized. Please, take care of yourself and remember you are deeply loved. I am delighted and comforted, that you have the support of your husband, without whom your road to recovery would be made far more arduous.
You are very important to me. I have loved you for years for your humanity, intellect, humility and overall fluffy adorableness. I hope your cancer is an ex cancer (said with Eric idle's voice). Please take care of yourself and know that you are adored. ~ A fellow cancer survivor. :)
What a relief, be well Stephen, please just tell us you're cured at the start of the announcement and then tell us the story, my heart was pounding with dread untill your said you're clear towards the end.
If you have a family history or if you have symptoms then you get tested. It's not complicated. Routine testing however for PSA is a very bad idea. It results in far too many cases of people undergoing unnecessary and invasive surgery at the cost of your quality of life. I hope that Fry is not advocating mass screening. It would be a wicked waste of money.
I, very much, HAD been wondering why Stephen wasn’t around recently... Very big love and encouragement for his recovery! A man who’s given me more chuckles and comfort than any other
Thank you for sharing, sir. I've just been through this myself here in Seattle - surgery date 2/12 - with a positive surgical margin which - as cancer survivors will know - is decidedly NOT positive. I'm in that same PSA waiting place, and finding my blithe stoic outlook on life put to the test. Quite an adventure: I hope that it is a long one, for us both. Love to you.
From one survivor to another, Thank You for sharing your story. I happened to be a candidate for a specific type of radiation treatment and went through it while still working, albeit I slowed down some and was a little weak. Industrial mechanic is a rather physical job. Well told and very motivational, so hopefully you men out there will get your "Happy Gland" checked.
That was a perfectly Stephen Fry way to announce his cancer battle! So eloquent and so kind to explain it to others in that way. Hope you recover quickly, you are genuinely one of my favourite people (rather strange, since we haven't actually met!).xx
You, sir, are a national treasure and an inspiration, not to mention possibly the most interesting human being on the face of the planet. Here's to your full recovery and many more years educating and entertaining us all.
Wow what a fright that must have been, You really are a National Treasure and I wish you well. I shall go to the Doc ASAP (Two week waiting list). At least you are out and about! I think that's my local Waterstones your in. So...Get well soon LOL ( lol still means "lots of love" right?)
K
I totally agree with you
Whoa funny seeing you guys here!
What a brave and informative video Stephen, thank goodness thst you have a very vigilent doctor a lesson there to all males to get their PSI level checked. Here's wishing you all the very best for a long and happy life.
@DYKGaming, Bless you love -
You have summed that up beautifully and I believe it highlights the truth that males in general must check themselves like us women do and, of course, never be afraid to visit their Doctor for regular checkups as well as if they feel something is not right, as like Stephen himself shows can prove vital in detecting anything astray or maybe not otherwise noticed as important healthwise to a male.
- if he had not gone for his annual influenza injection, then his cancer may not have been found sooner and action taken so swiftly and could have progressed even more, perish the thought.
Stephen is indeed a very special gentleman in so many ways, one of our national treasures, I love him to bits, bless his heart.
And yes, I wish him a full recovery but just as importantly, I like you said, agree totally that he has really helped
( judging by the males within this comment section )
how immensely important it is to openly speak about male health and any kind of health issues such as prostrate cancer etc, men's health in general like women's too, should not be a taboo subject or a something hidden away, but openly natural to discuss and, without embarrassment.
I adore how humble Fry is, he acts like he’s unimportant and nobody would care, but when a video is released on it, he gets 1 million views in a day! Shows what an icon and national treasure Fry really is.
NewBenCity ua-cam.com/video/m45c_rYHKJE/v-deo.html
And yet he films himself and uploads it....
Did you not watch the video? He made this months after he found out, because he didn't think anyone would care before, plus he didn't expect this type of reception, just thought it would be a small update video.
My husband had this three years ago, same robotic surgery. He is fit as a fiddle now. Best wishes to you and for a successful recovery.
gespilk who cares?
Egg Vs He probably will, due to him being fit as an Inanimate object
Mary Kellogg Has the op effected his sex life? Does he have any other problems caused by the treatment. Best regards. Ivor
Dear Stephen. You are never boring. There is a myriad of us out there who care what happens to you. All the best with your recovery.
This genuinely could've been a video of just him counting to 100, and the last thing in the world it would be is boring.
Get well soon Stephen, the UK loves you.
US loves you as well, even though the world hates us
Daniel Navich We don't hate you, we're just veey disappointed.
Tom Withey, thanks Tom, I'll tell the other 323 million to do better lol
and belgium & the whole world dear stephen♥u loads and loads
Shut up! U don't have a Monopoly on loving Steven!
Only Stephen Fry could explain this whole medical process as dignified and cleanly as he did.
And in a kind of fun way. Weridly funny, but still. Horrifyingly badly funny I think?
I was panicking a bit at the beginning, but am VERY glad to hear you are recovering. I can't speak for anyone else, but I definitely enjoy life with you around. Be well Mr. Fry.
Liz M. SAME HERE, VERY FUNNY MAN, PRAY HIS ON THE MEND & ON TV SOON. PTL 💚💚💚💚💚💎🌷🌹🌷🌹🌷🌹 4 FRY
Stephen, please get well soon. The world is a much more colorful, beautiful place because of you...

Stephen Fry is not just a UK treasure but a world treasure. The idea of losing him before he is ready is very nearly like a stab. Nothing but the best and get well soon and be well.
the one all in black
Who's Stephen fry?
The website you are currently on is called youtube and is an excellent way to look up videos and information about things, people, actors, comedians, intellectuals, and quite interesting things
the one all in black
I went on it and only found this video of some old guy who bored me soo much I turned off after 60 seconds. Still don't know who he is and by now I really don't care lol
To each their own
You have millions of friends all over the world whom you have never met but who are rooting for you, Stephen. You are greatly loved and hugely admired.
A true national treasure. Thank goodness there are still people like Stephen Fry in the world; we're so lucky to have him.
Glad they caught it in time Mr Fry, I hope for you a full speedy recovery and a long healthy life. You are loved by literally generations of us, for so many different reasons. We look forward to seeing you in your endeavours for many years to come.
I actually avoided watching this for a time because i didn't want to hear the bad news, glad i did now.
legit
Get well soon Stephen.... you are one of the few real gentlemen we have left.
Damn it Fry, stop making me laugh while making me want to cry!
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, we need to keep men of your stature and integrity around as long as we can. With little robots if necessary.
Thomas Binney what is wrong with him?
Stephen, I want to thank you for this video. Well, because you are important to me and even though I don't know you personally, I have come to respect and admire you very much.
I look forward to another video in fifteen years when you get your knee replaced.
I send you my best regards and love,
James, a stranger you don't know who cares about you. (one of millions)
Glad you are doing well. The world is a lovelier place for having you in it.
Wishing you a full recovery. Best wishes. Praying for you.
Chay Hawes I
"I don really know what a prostate is"....you didn't say that when you teenage boyfriend was pounding your shithole Stephen...PERVERT!..DISGUSTING!....and this man is regarded as a fucking respected celebrity and hero....what has the world come to?
Dafuq?
Time to grow up studmalexy (such a pompous name)
Your existence is not needed in this world, Stephens is.
Classic Stephen Fry to get prostate cancer and say "Well, it wasn't a fight, I just submitted".
Dude, you're amazing. Love to you and Elliott.
More than one generation. Surely.
“aggressive little bugger” one of the most British things to day.
Kraziijosh ikr most of my family says that (but without the aggressive bit :P)
Nah mate just tends to be the posh ones that say that I think 😂
Wish you a speedy recovery, sir. Love and respect.
The world cannot afford to lose Stephen Fry
Storm Hawk Oh yes they can tosser! Long overdue!
David Johnson wow, 126 likes already. Sorry, what were you saying?
jag10 yeah your all crawling out of the woodwork now
I think last year did rather well with the whole celebrity deaths and all. We deserve to have this year off, and Stephen in particular should just be excused from any such things.
Battle Cat I agree
So glad they caught it on time. Sending you lots of love and wishing you the best recovery!
I just had a philosophy lesson, biology lesson, English lesson and life lesson all in one
Jamie Mountain oh shit hi Jamie 😂❣️ is ya boy Alex
Ginge can't say this is the best video to say hi on mate x
You just received a BBC brainwash.
BOSS KNICKERS care to explain how Stephen Fry teaching people about prostate cancer is brainwashing?
BOSS KNICKERS this video is not published, made or sponsored by the BBC. You a rude idiot.
The measure of the man. At a time when he is surely not at his best; to say the least; he takes the time and energy to consider other people who might also suffer a similar plight Can only admire the dignity and selflessness of the man. Get well soon Sir, am looking forward to seeing you back on our tv screens very soon.
Hope you get better soon Stephen. Thoughts are with you.
👌💕 same. Damn.. Life's tough
Yo Jordan I love your videos
A timely reminder for men to get a PSA test.
I wonder how many lives will be saved by Stephen's message...
Medovukha lmao
You should’ve said “A PSA about getting a PSA”
Perfectly put
Tax dodging colonialist more like!
lol good one
What Mark said... Put perfectly... :)
Couldn't have said it better. Well done Mark and get well soon, Stephen!
a true icon, so brave for posting this! get well soon
I think it's nearly time for your big boy nap...............I can hear mother calling!
studmalexy grow up.
Legend!
MtB ArN well said
Wise uncle Stephen, thanks for telling us, love you, fast recovery.
Cat Gilfillan who is he? (Sorry I’m from USA so I haven’t heard of mr fry)
Try "V for Vendeta" (the American film) or Qi (british JEPORDY)(but way funnier and quite intelligent)...
A Treasure on both sides of the pound.
Dear citizenguy, guess who is going to hell?
Regarding the comment from citizenguy - Don't feed the troll.
Britain's grandad is ill
hope it's a speedy recovery, love u❤
Britain's grandad? 1. that isn't how you spell granddad, and 2. I know we all love him but is he necessarily a granddad? let alone the whole of Britain's one?
Darth McCarthy actually, "grandad" is the general spelling in England, but the other one is also acceptable.
And I was referring to the national affection people here hold for Stephen- it's akin to that of a grandad x
Darth McCarthy That's the spelling in England..
Darth McCarthy Shall we talk about Aluminium or Aluminum?
Darth, bet you're fun at parties!
Clear, concise and informative..."grace under fire" can be a cliched remark, but I feel it describes this video quite well. Thank you Mr. Fry.
Stephen Fry you are an awesome person, I have incurable cancer and it sucks! I try and share positivity and light with the world. You're a legend, someone I always though was awesome. Good luck and I wish you all the best :)
PeeWeeToms love your channel! You do share positivity in a very dark world. All the best to you too!
A L thank you so much :) I'm shocked at all the hate people are giving Stephen it's pants he is a great dude! So much respect for him and to expose it this way is not easy! Trust me!
He totally is
Damn, hope you have a sense of humor about it
I'm wearing socks
You Brits are so wonderfully understated. To paraphrase Lord Uxbridge "By God, sir, I've lost my prostate!" All the best Stephen!
He has got a taste for this. To be in the public eye, one way or another. At times it is a little bit over-bearing and distasteful.
I concur.
Steven, please never apologise for taking up my time, there are few people in the world I would rather give my time to than yourself. Your openness about this issue - and your openness about your mental health issues - can only serve to help others going through the similar experiences. I wish you a speedy recovery and many, many years of health & happiness.
Stephen is British. Not apologizing would be like an American not smiling.
Elegant to the core. Class, brains, compassion. Thank you Stephen and speedy recovery.
You are a Beautiful human, I wish you all the best.
If any celebrity deserves the best in life it's this gentle soul of a dude.
What is wrong with you Tom, you know how many people will die of prostate cancer because of tax dodging colonialists like Fry!
fuckfannyfiddlefart how about not concerning yourself with how other people feel? I've seen you all over these comments, ironically like a cancer yourself, if you don't like or respect Fry, then fuck off away from the video? Doesn't seem too difficult to me.
Whenever anyone asks me about my perfect dinner party guests, you sir are always the first name that immediately, and almost aggressively flies from my lips. You have this aura of a person that could literally teach God things about religion that he didn't know. Get well soon, you have a nation to entertain! 💛💙💜❤❤
What a lovely, warm humble dignified statement. Wishing Mr Fry all the best for a speedy and full recovery!
I can't applaud you enough for helping to break down the silence and embarrassment of men's cancers. I work as a nurse and I have seen a lot of patients who weren't as lucky to be diagnosed and treated quickly. It's wonderful that you can tell your story and encourage others to be brave and get a check up 😊
absolutely!
Yes, it's so important to get checked. Thanks to a routine screening my Dad's aggressive cancer was caught relatively early, giving us another 13 years with him that we otherwise wouldn't have had.
Organic anti inflammatory diet cures cancer. Don't eat bread or sugar. Lots of raw vitamin C and Silica
What an amazing person, I could listen to him talk all day.
I LOVE YOU STEPHEN FRY
Me too ❤️
I love people like uh
Can I just say it takes a great deal of courage to deliver such bad news with such calm and charisma?
Hope you get the all clear soon. We're all rooting for
you. Wishing you the very best of luck from Sydney Australia.
I wish you a strong recovery.
We are all here for you❤️
Angel why would he want to see it?
What are you talking about? I am just leaving something supportive in the comment section that is related to the video.
Warmest wishes. ♡♡♡♡♡
"I'm sorry I'm boring you". Impossible.
Hope you make a full recovery Mr Fry.
Sorry people, you`ll have to ignore citizenguy, he`s bored bless him, mummy and daddy have gone out, again, and left him at home, bless.
Most food tastes better when its fried.
Most words sound better when they are Fryed.
Matt Clarke nice try 😂👍🏾😕
I cannot believe I haven't seen this until now. Dear Stephen you are a world treasure and I wish you all the best in your ongoing recovery. I love the very non-boring way you explained this. May you live forever! Seriously stay safe, from Australia, cheers
Steven,
You saved my life once out of the blue, when I was 50 (56 now) by explaining my life to me and the fact that I am bipolar in your amazing documentary.
Richard Woodkey Your*
So pleased you have caught it early because you are so many peoples HERO me being one.
hope you and your other half are Happy Love Jonathan
We'll all be listening to your magnificent impressions in the Harry Potter audiobooks and your quick wit on QI hoping that you make a full recovery. Get well soon mate x
I wish you all the best Stephen. I have prostate cancer now, the third time I have cancer. As I survived the previous two I am beginning to think the even death can't kill me. Anyway, keep a positive attitude, keep enjoying life whatever it throws at you.
Wow - keep fighting!! You’re a warrior xx
Best of Luck
God bless you
Robert Kleijn I wish you all the best in your recovery💚
Aren't recurring cases more severe though? :/
OH FUCK!!! My wife & I are SOOO glad that this was discovered in time & has had the appropriate treatment! You sir did not ramble nor bore with this message. I am sure that I speak for many people that wish you a long time in our futures. Take care dear chap & get well soon.
Keep recovering and enjoying life for many, many years, Stephen. Much love and respect.
Stephen, you are my absolute favorite person and I love you with all of my heart. Love to meet you, and I hope you are healthy and happy. -Spencer (fan for 10~ years from los angeles)
What an elegant man, who is so charming while discussing his health issue. No easy feat.
Thank you for keeping the awareness of prostaete ca and the courage to share it so personally.
Thank you for raising more awareness about this. Wishing you a full recovery.
GOOD HEALTH to you.
if gays admitted they are "abnormal", id be cool.......but we will end up "full circle"...mark my words...in the next 10-15 years youll have examples were straight men are "shamed" for being into women (and I think the whole "mee too" agenda will act as a Catalyst for this and play into it)......you might find an example where (when governments keep records of our web searches),any prominent media/public figures who speaks against government marxist agenda can potentially have their searches "leaked" and be shamed for (for example, googling a pair of tits).........so youll have examples of straight men being shamed and publically humiluated in public for being straight and liking a pair of" big tits"(or whatever the fuck he is into)...............................we will come "full circle" and the gays (who for years have been saying that they shouldn't be "shamed" for being gay) will be the biggest hypocrites of all by not rushing to the defence of a straight man who will be publically shamed for his sexual preferences (which he cant control,, apparently)...................................................but please,,if I'm wrong, please give me some assurances that the scenario ive presented wont come to fruition? it will help me sleep better.........................better yet,,,why isn't FRY speaking out against REAL issues like governments keeping all our web searches?..this is a massive infringement on our privacy rights....................im telling you,,FRY is a FRAUD!...spread this and FIGHT against your government, before its fucking too late!
studmalexy shut the fuck up
Terry Shilo I have an aggressive form of cancer, I'm 32 and its incurable.
Thank you Stephen for your courage and concern for others.
National treasure, all the best to stephen
You're so delightfully English, properly English, a good ol' English bloke.
Louise Charlesworth I was thinking of something else as "endearingly" English the other day. Now I don't remember what it was because Stephen Fry epitomizes the idea to me.
He's from Norfolk but has an RP accent
Well, we’d rather you didn’t go away either, Mr. Fry. The very best of wishes to you.
Really got me worried there. You belong in my world. You are such an enlightenend and decent renaissance man. So few left, so very few left. Live your wall paper.🇸🇪
Staffan Karin Pappila wait is some of it wallpaper? 😂 I thought it was all books
The world is bloddy lucky to still have Stephen Fry in it.
Jens Dalsgaard not for long xd
Jens Dalsgaard between his efforts and that of his health, he needs to realize he can't and may not die, and just deal with it! :)
Dapper Dan god's not real
Mubble Mann Thank you
This made me feel like my grandpa was about to tell me some bad news about his health. He's such an adorable old boy. So glad it was caught early. 💛
💛💛💛
If you have a family history or if you have symptoms then you get tested. It's not complicated. Routine testing however for PSA is a very bad idea. It results in far too many cases of people undergoing unnecessary and invasive surgery at the cost of your quality of life. I hope that Fry is not advocating mass screening. It would be a wicked waste of money.
Science with Katie what a lovely man he is
A true wonderful human being! Wishing you a full recovery Stephen and the loving care from your family, friends and husband. You are loved by all!
Adorable old boy - I couldn't think of a better description; he really is a darling isn't he? I'm so glad he appears to be doing ok
Excellent video Stephen. I wish you a speedy & thorough recovery.
Thank you for the explanation and glad to see you are getting on the mend.
I will myself get checked now.
Take care Stephen
That was a perfectly Stephen Fry way to announce his cancer battle! So eloquent and so kind to explain it to others in that way. Hope you recover quickly, you are genuinely one of my favourite people (rather strange, since we haven't actually met!).xx
A healthy and speedy recovery to you sir
You, sir, are a national treasure and an inspiration, not to mention possibly the most interesting human being on the face of the planet. Here's to your full recovery and many more years educating and entertaining us all.
Wow what a fright that must have been, You really are a National Treasure and I wish you well. I shall go to the Doc ASAP (Two week waiting list). At least you are out and about! I think that's my local Waterstones your in. So...Get well soon LOL ( lol still means "lots of love" right?)
