I don't normally comment on UA-cam very much, but had to for this one. Love this recipe! I usually prep my lunches for the week ahead and this one was a definite winner! I made this two weeks ago for the first time and felt a bit sad that I didn't have this delicious lunch again this past week. lol
So, made it again for this coming week and it's strange to say, but I almost want the weekend to be over so that I can eat my weekday work lunches ASAP.
Differences I've made to the recipe include adding bean sprouts and sliced water chestnuts to the veggies, 2 bell peppers (red & yellow), and some sesame seeds to the liquid and beef when pressure cooking. I also reserve about half of the veggies after sautéing for a bit of crunch in the final product.
Anyway A+++ recipe, thank you for sharing it!

I made this dish tonight and it came out so good that, before it was all gone, I was asked when I'm gonna make it again. It went quick and it tasted like I had been slaving over the stove all day! That's the beauty of knowing how and what to cook in your Instant Pot. Thanks for the recipe. 😋

You are gifted in the instant pot recipes. Yesterday I made this for the first time. You hit it out of the ballpark. Today I am making the same thing with a little bit difference. Instead of rice, I am going to use baby potatoes on a trivet cooking it all at the same time. I know for a fact that it will taste just as good as it did yesterday. Keep up the good work and don’t stop cooking.

OMG!!!!! This is sooooo good! Hubster used a frozen roast that he thawed and used better than bouillon beef flavor for making rice. What an awesome dinner!!!! Oh, Buck, (the hubster) used red and yellow bells instead of the green. We like them way better. Thanks for another wonderful recipe Jeff!!! written by the wife....Jody

Jeff, you are hilarious!!! I love watching you making great food in the Instant Pot.
There are so many "not-so-good" UA-camrs recording Instant Pot recipes, they are either hard to watch or hard to listen to because they just don't do a good job.
When I'm trying to get new members for the cult of Instant Pot I always mention your UA-cam and Flo Lum's. You two are probably the most professional UA-camrs I've seen in the Instant Pot arena!
    Keep Cooking!!!

Couple of changes - did double the vegetables and after sauteed, pulled them out and then added at the end (except for the garlic which is sauteed separately before adding the liquids and meat). Doubled the peppercorns like mentioned and then since I didn't have white pepper added about 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes. Served over cauliflower rice. Mmmm

Delicious and oh so flavorful! I love this recipe! I rinsed 1-1/2 cups Calrose rice and let it soak in a stainless pan while I prepped the rest of the recipe. When cooking, I placed a lid on the stainless pain, put a tall trivet over the pepper beef and placed the rice pan on top of the trivet. When done cooking, I removed the stainless pan and left it covered to continue to steam while I thickened the beef mixture. The rice was cooked perfectly and it was so awesome to cook both at the same time!.Yummy! I'm definitely making this again. Thank you!

I made this last night. It was very good and I added a head of broccoli to it. It was very tender, but I was making it for my mother and that's how she likes it. I'm not sure if it was because of the broccoli, but it was a little watery in consitency and needed a bit more cornstarch.

🍄Hoisin and oyster sauce = magic flavor
    💫
    4 tablespoons soy sauce.
    2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter.
    1 tablespoon dark brown sugar.
    2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar.
    1 garlic clove, finely minced.
    2 teaspoons sesame seed oil.
1 teaspoon hot sauce (more or less to taste)
    1/8 teaspoon black pepper.
While they are similar in flavor, hoisin sauce is not to be confused with plum sauce. Hoisin sauce is typically spicier with more potent flavors, while plum sauce is more of a jammy sauce made from plums. #mooshupork

I totally enjoy your videos b/c of the simple step by step instructions in a soothing voice at a moderate pace as you explain the process, and I just noticed the pleasant background music today. All of the recipes have been amazing. Thank you for introducing me to Hoison & Oyster sauce; I can't believe how good these store bought products taste [I primarily cook w/Thai & S. Indian spices where store bought pastes often taste nasty]. I also looked up how to do homeade versions of these Chinese sauces but decided to try the pre-mades 1st b/c I couldn't easily find fermented black soybeans, the base for most Chinese flavoring (fyi: Japanese uses Miso or red soybean paste which differs from Chinese).

Nice recipe, the only thinsgs I'd do differently is sautee the beef first and add the vegetables during the sauce reduction phase. The browning will add a whole other level of flavor to your dish and you don't get mushy veggies.

    @terryhenderson101 4 роки тому

For a better blend of crunchy veggies, after the pressure cooking is done and the lid is off, add more raw peppers and onions and let them stand for about 5-10 min in the mixture, and then do the sauce thickening. You’ll get a combination of soft and semicrunchy peppers and onions.

Do you have a peppercorn steak recipe? I used to buy a peppercorn steak marinade. McCormick or one of those seasonings companies that make the gravies and marinade bags. But I haven't seen it in years. It was so good. And that was what I was thinking of when I opened this. I may try a gluten free version of this. I have been cooking with oyster sauce for years and it is one of my favorite sauces to cook with. I have to cross my fingers and hope there is a decent GF version of it.

Make a roux at the beginning of the dish by adding flour to the oil while sauteeing the vegetables. That would be the proper and better tasting way to thicken up a dish, the corn starch slurry is only used to fix last minute mistakes with sauces and should not be used as a general thickening method.
