    Thanks for making this! Very helpful for helping me get some sand out of my spool without fear of damaging the parts.

    Great video. Just added a BG 5000 to my surf gear. What are the dimensions of all bearings and bushings for stocking a few aftermarket spares to keep them going when far from home?

    Thanks for the video. 1:08 my BG 8000 handle is seized and I can't back it out. Right now I have it positioned to allow PB Blaster to drip down into where it threads in. Any tip/tricks on this situation? Thank you.

      Unfortunately not much can be done. You'll need a lot of elbow grease on this one. A little bit of torch heat sometimes helps with loosening.

    Would you clean it before applying new coat of grease? If so how?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  Рік тому

      Depends. Almost always I clean the body with kerosene before applying fresh grease. For rotor and spool, it depends. Usually for those two, I check if there are too much salt residue, then I'll clean everything. If not, then just wipe off some of the old grease, then a few drops oil and a slight dab of grease in the line roller, drag washer and bail spring usually is enough. Usually within a year, I clean the body 3-6 times depending on usage and condition but for rotor and spool, I only clean them once every year or two and just maintain it with a few drops of oil every now and then.

    Hi, im trying to repair mine and the bail isnt auto flipping. How does the bail mechanism work on that specific reel (bg 5000) to make it flip over?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mike. BG size 4500, 5000, 6500 and 8000 have manual bail arm. You have to close the bail arm yourself.
      BG size 4000 and below have auto flip bail arm.

    My BG 5000 drag sound has gotten a little bit quiet, any idea how I can make it louder again? Could it be from excess grease that I could have put somewhere?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 роки тому

      Two probablities. Possibility no. 1 is too much grease but usually the clicker sound it will recover after some use. Possibility no.2 is both the clicker teeth inside the spool and clicker wire got worn. If the reel is 3-5 years old and was well used, I would say its no. 2. You can change the wire. Unfortunately you cannot change the clicker tooth. Nothing much can be done.

      @@solunaranglingconfidante417 Thanks for the information, could I buy a new spool and clicker wire?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 роки тому

      @@91G_ you can buy those from daiwa service centre in your country or have your local tackle shop order them. However the spool alone will be almost half the price of new reel so i dont think it will worth the money spent.

    Is this diwa bg 5000 saltwater spinning reel made in Japan and what is the cost of this reel. Please let me know. Thanks Gabriel

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  3 роки тому

      Its made in china. Only high end Daiwa saltiga certate reels are made in Japan. Lower end Daiwas are either made in China or Vietnam.

    After I fit in the new AR spring in my Daiwa bg 6500, all is well untill after I do a couple of casts then the AR stops working(free) what is the problem?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 роки тому

      ARB and/or pinion sleeve not fit properly or no oil in ARB or too much grease in ARB. You dont have too disassemble everything. Just remove the rotor and check the ARB and pinion sleeve. My bet is the ARC and/or pinion sleeve not fit properly.

      Not really hard to do BG 5000. I would say this reel is the easier one compared to others. Spinfisher VI, Shimano Spheros SWA are not easyl. Spinfisher VI Live Liner the more complicated ones. Try doing it yourself once.

    How is the diwa bg 4500 airbail saltwater spinning reel different from diwa bg. What is the cost of diwa bg 4500 airbail saltwater spinning reel.

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  3 роки тому

      BG airbail is not much different from regular BG. Other than the colour and and bail arm and the higher price, everything is the same.

    I just bought a BG5000, and that first crank/turn you make in the video after checking the drag click... you can hear kind of grinding sound in the gears.. is this normal ?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 роки тому

      If its a used reel, its quite acceptable to have a little grindy sound. If its new, then its not normal. Do not do anything and just return the reel.

      Servicing once a year is fine but if you use this often like 2 trips a month then twice a year will become necessary. Myself I went out almost every week so I will service every 3 months or sooner. However I do a complete breakdown every 3 months or sooner ONLY on the main body and line roller. The spool maybe once or twice a year or whenever necessary. The rotor I maintain with a few drops of oil after rinsing with fresh water and will do complete breakdown only once a year or whenever it feels sandy or heavy.

      Daiwa Recommends if you use 2 times a week, 6 months service is recommended. Personally, I use my reels lots of times a month but do 1-1.5 year service depending on the feeling of the crank.
