Hi Gary, I was pleased to meet Nicky and yourself at Hurleston Locks. I hope you both liked the Hurleston Gold Star experience it was a pleasure to help you both up the flight. I will hope to see you again soon, I will be out on my boat (Shallowford) over the winter. Cheers Howard.
Gary, you mention ABC Boat Hire in this video. Well . . . may I just say . . . three years ago before Covid hit, my wife and I rented our first and only Narrowboat out of Ellesmere's Blackwater Meadows Marina. We pulled our rental car in and were met by the friendliest, most professional staff one could hope for. The boat was super tidy and appeared near new. All aspects of the boat and lock handling were explained and we received a brief check out. We were able to provision the boat as a Tesco was very close by. We had an amazing time sailing all the way up to Llongollen spending the night in the Marina for only 6 pounds. We boarded a steam train there and enjoyed high tea aboard. We of course crossed the famous Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, Chirk Aquaduct , and two tunnels. On the way back, we pounded our pins in near the entrance to the Chirk Tunnel and walked our way up to a castle there. The staff at the castle were amazing and served us a free high tea upon learning it was my 60th birthday. This has remained my all time favorite vacation of my lifetime and I owe so much gratitude to the wonderful staff at ABC Boat Hire Ellesmere, I was treated like royalty !
That's so heartwarming to read Micheal and I'm so pleased you had a great holiday. We were in that marina yesterday and they too were so very helpful. Hire boat companies can get some bad press but I've only recieved praise from ABC
Hi Gary it’s always a pleasure to see your videos, and I live near to Wrenbury,a lovely location. Your little dogs are lovely you must be so proud of them,2 brilliant little companions.
Glad you are feeling better now. It hurt my heart to see you have to work so hard when neither of you felt well. Do take care, as you mean so much to so many. Leigh

Did you know the river that runs past the Dusty Miller is actually the Weaver? Having that lift bridge controls on the towpath side has made it sp much easier for me now. When it works...

You just brought back a lot of great memories for us up there. we did exactly the same walk through the Graveyard to the little shop. They do a fantastic large pork pie.
Very interesting Gary, You said you and Nicky were interested in the history, I don't know if you have seen it before, there is a YT video called The Story of British Canals - VHS - 1993 (Canal History Docu). Hope you find it interesting. Best wishes for your cruise to Llangollen, look forward to joining you on your vlogs.

Hi Gary If the lift bridge at Wrenbury is automatic, why does it need controls? BTW, Professor Pat Pending was not one of the cars in the Wacky Races, he was one of the drivers. His car was the Convertocar. Jeff
Yes cheers Jeff, I realised after I edited lol... perhaps automatic was the wrong word, should of said electric but none of my filming is prepared its all off the cuff so I tend to get my words mixed up... thanks bud
It's flu season! I need to get my flu shot. I wondered where Nikki is boat was. We will see it next time maybe. Tell me the name of that boat hire again? I thought it ABC But the guel, water and L- SN was at Bickleson's Marina? I am going to hire a narrow boat and see what I think before I drop a lot of money on one. Great video! Thank you. Thank you very much!
