This really made me like Lambert a lot more. He actually put effort into his answer and gave his reasons, how he really felt, and what he wanted to see. Most celebrities just give a little lip service and that's all. He actually hung out to answer the question and gave a real, honest answer. I hate the three word "Well, why not?" thing so many actors do. He's not too good to talk to the fans and he knows it. That's pretty awesome in my book.
More than that, he also seems to understand that a movie isn't just the actor's performance. It's the entire picture that counts, and the performance of the actor is only a part of that. I have intense respect for him telling them to be original, go for that spirit of the first movie. Don't just copy, try to find a new formula.
Chris is in shockingly good shape today , , a side from Highlander franchise I could definitely see him coming back as RAIDEN- God of lightning ⚡⚡ in a Mortal Kombat TV series or New MK Movie sequel so bravo to awesome Christopher Lambert 👏👏👏🏆👍
@@wyldelf2685of course he’s in good shape. He is immortal and imbued with the quickening.

Interviewer: Mr. Lambret what are your real thoughts on making new Highlander movies
Christopher Lambret: There can be only one
+Arenzoj oh no u didn't haha
+Arenzoj *Lambert
+Lex Wrong. It's Lambear...Venture Bros correct me after many years being mistaken
xxHGMxx Wrong. Christophe Guy Denis LAMBERT is his full name. Not "Lambret" XD
Arenzoj LMAFO 😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of the coolest actors on the planet. Loved his version of Raiden in the first Mortal Kombat movie.
It's what I'm watching right now-love these movies, and definitely Highlander ones!!
shane womeldorff James Remor(Dexter) played Raiden in the 2nd Mortal Kombat movie...
I know . I just really hate the second mortal combat. I love Lambert !
The second Mortal Kombat movie sucked. Lambert did not want to be in that terrible
Yeah I also loved him as Tarzan in Greystoke.
He's right on about Queen. That, and Michael Kamen's orchestrations. You're never going to do better than that.
Actually, J. Peter Robinson did a freakin' *AWESOME* job with the score for Highlander 3!👍
Also, a big hand to Lambert and Clancy Brown. They were both amazing in it.
Some gerneric R&B , hip hop hits, then people walk out of the cinema!
@Frost is wack good?
@Frost I did, she said if you don't like queen, your taste in music is wack...
I want to shake that mans hand and say, "thank you, for everything".
I want to ask his questions on what it was like being Tarzan?
Thanks buddy
I met Mr Lambert at a collectamania in Glasgow a few years ago (he had Disney trainers/sneakers on) lovely man and very friendly. There is only one!!
I’d like to ask him about his name being on the flight lists to Epstein’s Lolita express
@Fatcheeks64 I don’t believe anything I read, hence me stating that I’d like to ask him personally. I’m quite aware that he is a Frenchman, as would be anyone that knows who he is. Not sure at all of the relevance or point of you mentioning that. Does that make him less likely to be a paedophile, in your opinion? Because if someone were to say to me ‘’*Paedophiles*... now name a nationality’’- I’d most likely say french.
Cool dude, nice that he pointed to Queen as being a major part of Highlander's success. I just got into them after hearing Princes of the Universe recently. The song is so bad ass
Its funny you commented on this 4 years ago and i just did a like on your comment moments ago so digitally your an immortal 😎
I listen that song a lot on my iphone and just imagine being one of God's Archangels.
@@andrewcabral963 - It's funny, you saying that. Gregory Widen, the writer of the original Highlander film, also wrote & directed THE PROPHECY, a movie about the 2nd war in heaven between the forces of Michael against the forces of Gabriel. You should check it out ✔👍
@@FreddyKurganNimmo Sounds interesting you know I always imagine myself meeting Saint Michael the leader of the Archangles.

Here is a great actor with respect not only for the franchise but respect for his fans nough said.
Great actor ? Christopher Lambert ? 😂😂😂
@@user-ey6vk5gu4o Indeed !
Better than most people @MrCarpen7er
hats off for lambert, talk about respectful to the cult classic and so much modesty. honestly one of my most favorite actors and i am absolutely smitten that he shares the same aspect of being willing to give a wink at the audience in something new but not wanting to be a main role and touch on what was already made. truly keeping a classic a classic
He's so humble! He's such a great actor! Such a great man!
First saw it as a 13 year old kid. I'm 41 now, and it and it's soundtrack are still my favorite after all of these years. NOTHING beat that first heavy piano key stroke of the training montage with Connor and Ramirez.
That's a very good explanation for why some films succeed where others fail. That cultural convergence where everything becomes perfectly aligned when nobody was expecting it. Directing, cinematography, music, cast - Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery Clancy Brown!!!! So much nostalgia.
I remember hearing that opening track when Highlander opened in the theatres. I had no idea it was queen. There was no internet. Movies only ran once. No guarantee they would ever show on TV which ran one or two movies a week on jus two channels. Ordering a film score from abroad through a dealer was an exotic concept at the time - and you would have had to wait for weeks or months to get it shipped and get notified through snail mail or a personal call from the store, I am sure.
And I remember thinking, how sad I shall be hearing this only once - ever (pun partially intended) - because it was magical and immediately sold me on the movie, which at this point I could probably quote line for line in it's entireity while watching it.
Only years later did I find the Queen album in my uncles record stash. Even then I had no idea it was a movie soundtrack, until I suddenly heard Princes of the Universe again - and my head just about exploded ...
“ Heeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrreee Weeeeee Are!!” I bet that was instant goosebumps when you heard it.
That’s awesome what you had to do to get music you loved before the internet
Queen A Kind of Magic is my favorite album.
@@RichWards-Wins It’s not my favourite Queen album perhaps but a lot of my favourite Queen material is on there …
@@Caltops78 I know right! Yeah that was exactly it. That was the exact instant goosebump moment right there.
a bit late but pretty similar to my own story😃. I actually discovered Queen s music through this movie, and both the music and the film blew my mind away. I remember the first time I watched it with my dad, second time (the following week) with my best friend (always in a movie theater), third time (my parents were looking at me like "ok, so what s going on with this movie, three times??🤨😂) with a cousin. And much later, on cable TV. I loooved the first movie, liked the series, but did not love 2nd and 3rd movie, even if the 2nd was partially shot in Buenos Aires, where I am from. And btw, watching this now that there will be a reboot is quite significant... i dont know... i can accept reboots of other stuff, but not of this. But i guess i ll have to wait and see.
"I don't want to touch what was made" Christopher Lambert: Sensible person.
The people at Hollywood: Not so very.
+Lex Highlander could be dope even on indie level. We need katana swords, 90's blue light and enough money to pay Lambert
well, he did touch it several times. and none of the sequels came close to the original. so...
He's talking about a "remake", not about a "sequel"
Wish he (but mostly the producers) hadn't touched what was made with the original. Still I can't blame Chris, as a foreign actor in Hollywood, you take what you can get. He seems like a decent chap to have a drink with.
@@FakeGermanAccent well... for the second, I believe both him and Sean Connery were under contract for a sequel... so no real choice if they didn't want problems... I see the third as a try to correct the 2nd and well, endgame was to end his part in the franchise, series and movies...
So happy he mentioned the soundtrack from the Queen as one of the reasons for the Highlander franchise to be so successful. That soundtrack was legendary.
Let's not forget Clancy Brown who made the most AWESOME villain in the first film! ("I've got something to say..." in the church scene).
How could there be another without the Kurgan? Awesome antagonist
Movies aren't the same anyway. They are very careful and try to sell everything pg 12. So even if Hollywood remakes it I will stick with this one.
And yes what a villain Clancy Brown was, still gives me chilles. Hollywood seems to have forgotten that there is nothing wrong making other than horror movies with higher age rating.
The Kurgan was the best villian by far he made the movie
Happy Halloween ladies!! Bleeeaaghh
"It's better to burn out than to _fade away!"_
He is the Highlander and there can be only one!
Let's break out the swords and make sure
I agree with Christopher Lambert. Don't do the 1986 film again. They should reinvent it. Do a fresh story with a new character and take Highlander in a different direction.
Loved him in highlander..great actor.
Great interview. Problem is nobody......I mean nobody can ever replace Queen!
Muse would be the closest
50 cent can easily do the job or da baby
Hahaha....give me some of what you're huffing...
Really respect his take on it. Instead of being like “Don’t Touch it” or “It’s not gonna work” looked at things through a positive lens and even encourage them to go nuts with it.
I just recently discovered this movie and I really enjoyed it. I hope the remake works and delivers
Ummm there can only be one Highlander...
be only
Nothing wrong with only be
"try to find a new Queen" Hah, simply fucking impossible!
The only band that could be close to Queen is Muse. They'd do a good soundtrack
I hope they would reuse the original music. It would be difficult to equal.
@@MrDeadhead83 good vs godlike
with all the garbage remake they made the new Queen will probably a drag queen
Hell fucking yhea
Christopher, you are amazing. Always up for the Highlander but they will have do do something exceptional to beat him and Sean. True legends
Dont forget Clancy Brown.
With all of the money in the world, without Queen, and Sean Connery, there is no fucking way that any studio/director could ever recapture the heart and soul of this story. There can be only one.
What about writers and score composers?
@William Stefens They are also wanting new generations to view the information, plot, or storyline. Programming...
And now we don’t have Sean:(
Yeah, the other thing is (if they were going for another sequel, which I kinda hope they don't) you couldn't have Lambert reprise his role as Connor because a) he's dead and b) Lambert is too old to play him now.
Don't forget Clancy Brown
Keep in mind that while he filmed the movie he wasn't allowed to wear his glasses. He can barely see without them. All his acting done to blurry co-stars. Kudos!
A scholar and a gentleman!!
There can be only one Lord Raiden
Agreed, btw he is in the upcoming MK(3) :-)
+Therayden02 but then Ed Boon tweeted and simply said "Nope" 😔
Sidney Mosley He is a Troll xD
wtf... mk3 ?!?
Sidney Mosley Only one Beowulf!
Christopher Lambert seems like a cool guy:)
He is got his autograph at Comicon he seemed really happy that I a then 19 year old loved the movie me and 2 generations of my family my grandfather and grandmother and mother.
Cool interview, i've been a huge Highlander fan since my childhood.
Do not remake. The original Highlander is a sacrament not to be tampered with.
amen. the pains that comes with it..just asked the starwars, star trek, total recall, robocop and judge dredd fans. they all suffered
How about a reboot?
@Crohn lol, new Star Trek good? They left out all philosophical debates, accurate science, the Spock/Kirk/MacCoy debates that made the original what it is.
Highlander on the other hand cannot be damaged more after 2 and the Source,
Yup. Leave the Classics alone!
Still young. Not too late for a Fortress 3...
HAHAHAAHA FORTRESS HAHAAHAHAHAH amazing comment made my fucking day !!!!
You can not replace excellence. Adrian Paul and Christopher Lambert or Queen can not be replaced.
word !
Or a Fortress TV show like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
A series that takes place between Fortress 1 and 2.
I just love Christopher, he's so Cool.
As a french guy, i know how difficult it is to talk about it for him, considering what thise movies dobtobhis carriere of actor, but for me, he is one if the last real theatre hero in life, and his actor skills gaved life to twoo of my childhood heros.
I probably never gonna have the occasion to thanks him for that, but i just wanned to say " Merci monsieur Christopher Lamvert pour m'avoir permis de rêver, et pour vôtre qualité d'acteur qui a fait vivre ces personnages l'espace de quelques heures sur un écran de cinéma, et pour la vie dans mon âme d'enfants"
Highlander 1, still on of my favourite movies. It has everything. Deep good story, good villain etc etc. And yeah, the music from Queen is just the cream on top.
The only thing I could potentially complain about, is that it might have looked somewhat better with a bigger budget. But other than that, its a great movie.
In the words of Ricky Bobby, it won the Academy Award for best picture ever made.
@@joliecide LOL... ok
There will never be a new Queen. That soundtrack is one of a kind.
This man is an underrated treasure. I never realized his accent was so strong outside of acting.
Queen is one of Christopher Lambert favorite band? Respect man.
BEST Highlander EVER!!!!
He looks really good for his age. First time I saw him was in the movie: Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes in 1984 and have been hooked on that guy ever since. I enjoyed the Highlander movies but am not sure of a remake???
@ANNIE H.
I agree with you that Chris does have a very striking/ very "European" look about him
that fits the characters he plays well (particularly Tarzan and Connor).
If he could just get a better grip on his English.
But you're not sure about a remake...
Interviewer:
If they ask you to be part of a remake
of 'Highlander' would you be interested in it??".
Christopher Lambert:
"Depends. I don't want to touch what was already made".
But Chris Lambert appears in every sequel since the original.... ???
He looks like Frankenstein
Man, that transition from the Mona Lisa to McCloud and the aquarium to the lake were so cool in their day. Russell is the man.
Christopher Lambert, my wife enjoyed you in the highlander movies.
"My wife" lol
Their Can Be Only One ...Christopher Lambert..He will always be the Best Highlander, My Favorite and Still a Nice Looking Guy. . I would love to meet him .
The original Highlander is one of those rare creative masterpieces in the action (plus fantasy) genre. The sequels shouldn't have been made and the idea of a remake is an insulting abomination. The only thing that might "possibly" (and even this would be iffy) would be a prequel about Ramirez. But such a movie would have to live up to the original movie and they would have to be extremely careful choosing just the right cast. And it must have music by queen. Queen is as much a part of highland as Ramirez's sword. It means way too much to ever be excluded.
jrvthatsme Trying to play a young Sean Connery would be as dumb a career move as Alden Whatshisface taking on the role of a young Han Solo.
@@Vaultboy101 If they did, really only one man I would accept and that's Rory McCann.
Here’s my idea. Make it about Ramirez but without the audience knowing that it is Ramirez. Make a great story about an immortal badass cutting heads left and right and we never know his real name and then at the end of the movie he says his name with Princes of the Universe blasting as the credits roll up.
There would be some problem casting a young actor as Ramirez because Ramirez looked old in Highlander. But this could be solved if at the end of Ramirez story it’s discovered that you can transfer some of your power to someone else with the effect of making you physically older.
Haha Lambert mentions something along the lines 'good luck finding a worthy replacmenet for Queen'. Now the same challenge can go to the idea of finding an actor depicting Ramirez in the place of Sean Connery.
Excellent answer at the end of this interview. "I don't want to touch, ... I dont wanna touch what is made"
There can be only one Highlander film!!!
Excellent movie for that time! Loved it!
Lord Raiden.
Cris Lamb (Highlander)and Claude Vandam,(cyborg) very likable Gentleman, happy for their success and being a part of an era of writers, musicians sports, entertainment, comedy, and folk lore that was WITH. as well as AHEAD of it's time..... Whose time has now come...full circle ...like magic .. the sum of the era .can NOT be repeated ☝️😎
Another great actor that you never see anymore. He and Adrian should get a cameo.
He should really return for the mentor role
True, that would make old fans and new fans come together..
Nice idea 👍🏻
really cool guy and really humble. Agree about a "remake"
I am almost 74 years old and I would love to see Highlander again
Who wants to live forever scene of the first highlander is tattooed on my mind, that scene made the movie so memorable.
If they do eventually remake it, they should put Lambert in the Ramirez role as a nod to the original, make that role a Frenchman, and find an actual Scottish actor to play MacLeod, or at least someone who can attempt the accent.
NO WAY! You can never replace the original Highlander series and it’s dynamic cast of characters! I couldn’t watch a remake! Christopher is absolutely spot on!
No MESS with a classic!
I'm scottish and this guy is legend among us .. take a bow
What a boss answer.
Don't remake Highlander! In the end there can be only one
And here we are 10 years after this was uploaded and we are finally getting a reboot or remake staring Henry Cavill coming out in 2026, but like Lambert said here 'most difficult is try to find a new Queen'
There can be Only One. And that's Christopher Lambert! 💪🗡️💥
He looks like a young man in old man's makeup.

Props to Lambert for sticking to his guns. For some odd reason, I always thought he was Irish, but his accent drove me to search and it turns out he's French. Who knew?!
Everyone but you, I presume ;)
OmegaWolf747 ~ Christopher Lambert was born on 29 March 1957 in Great Neck, New York to a French diplomat father who served in the United Nations. He had an elder brother named Gilles who died in 2012. His family left the USA when Christopher was just two. Lambert was later educated at private boarding institutions in Geneva.

holy shit thats an amazing idea.
Martin Kove ty...lol
Gracinha esse ator. Gosto muito dele. Passa uma energia muito boa. 😚
Yes, don’t forget about Queen but also do not forget about the amazing Michael Kamen who uplifted that movie in so many ways.
You cannot remake a cult classic like Highlander. It will always be one of my favorite films that I have enjoyed. Do not remake it because there are no variations of the storyline that can be made into a better Highlander film. It would be blasphemy to redo it in any way possible.
Indeed they can take it in any direction just don't make it a direct clone.
I think the concept is phenomenal, so I think they would be better off taking that and making a new film retaining a few of the other basic elements, an exact remake like Carrie or The Longest Yard would just be pointless
They should remake Highlander 2: the Quickening(1991) which was a disaster and the worst highlander movie !
I think they could reboot the Highlander story. Maybe have it set in another world with a new story and new character but still have the idea of immortals.
They could always use a scottish actor to play the highlander this time - that would be an improvement. Lambert had his own charm but he really is not that great an actor
Well said. Just an additional point - Clancy Brown was brilliantly chilling as The Kurgan.
Alot of actors don't like to talk about their most iconic rolls. (Sean Connery James Bond) but Christopher Lambert does here with such passion and love. Great to see his opinion and what a good one it is. Lots of love to him from his fans in the 🇬🇧

Great movie to this day. Lambert seems like a humble dude and really respects the creators of the film. Like actors who aren’t full of themselves.
He’s right about the Queen soundtrack. That was a huge part of the movie, and you just can’t replicate that.
Highlander is one of the best sci fi movies I've ever seen. It was original and it had a great story along with great actors. You also have to include the music.
They were talking about this remake for 3 years prior to this interview, and now 7 years AFTER this interview, we still ain't got shit.....
.
A full decade with NO progress...
.
Don't hold your breath, folks. It took 'em 8 years to finally get The Source out. It seems like with the history of this franchise, the longer it takes for a film to get produced, the higher likelihood that it will NOT be worth the wait.
It was 5 years between 1 & 2
4 years between 2 & 3
5 years between 3 & Endgame(but The Series & The Raven compensated in the interim)
8 years between Endgame & The Source
12 years since The Source(most likely going to be at least another 3-to-8 years until we actually get to see this remake, *IF* it EVER even gets made)
Dude never knew he had an accent. He covered it up really well in MK and the Hunted
mr lambert you also made this movie. your screen presence was very much on point in that movie. the same goes for clancy and sean of course.
His accent is... so mysterious
So glad he is mentioning the music. You can't have a highlander without queen.
Here's my idea (and it's wrong but here it is anyways): Remake it with a very good visual director who is a fan of the franchise (hint Taika Wattiti) and then do what Russell Mulcahy did by showing the footage to a few bands and chose the one who most connects with the story and the footage being shown. That's what made the first higlander unique. That blend of sci-fi fantasy and rock music.
I'm older but I like this band Greta Van fleet... Zeppelins gone.
What a cool bloke. Grear to see he loves what the original was
Right answer.
I just saw he original Highlander movie with Mr. Lambert. It was wonderful. Watched the Highlander TV show when it first came out and they’re running the shows again late night. For me any remake just isn’t the same.
His voice is so fucking awesome.
👊
Highlander had the best cast best director and the most outstanding soundtrack I remember I was a kid and was captivated by Christopher lambert he even overshadowed the late great sir Sean Connery one of my top films of all time
wtf.... lambert looks way better than when he was younger. This man aged well.
you know him from Highlander (well, I did discover him the same way, watching Highlander on a vhs...)
then you follow him and through some roles and one day, you catch another of his movie on TV, Greystoke... and you realize he played probably the most convincing Tarzan ever and you never knew before because that was before Highlander... and when you tell others and they actually watch it, all they can answer is "fair point..."
d'à côté du jet d'eau, Salut Christophe, et merci pour quelque bons moments de cinoche
I could see him doing a cameo, but considering he was mostly blind in the first movie because he couldn't wear his glasses to see, 40 yrs later, can you imagine how hard it would be for him to do a fight scene now since they're so much more physical.
Amazing I can't wait ¡ Christopher can work Like Ramirez ¡
Smart dude. He's absolutely right on all levels.
Personally, I think any attempt to remake it is likely to bomb, bigtime.
so much wisdom
Thanks buddy ❤️
The only way I see it working is if they get a Scott as Macleod (a beefed up James Mcavoy could manage it) and get as many of the makers from Game Of Thrones on it as possible. It needs to have a totally different vibe from the original. The original was of it's time and cannot be duplicated. So far all we know is Batista is the Kurgan so who really knows how it's gonna turn out?
Cool humble guy.
The only way a new movie can be made is if it focuses on a completely different character.
Since there are many immortals, you can focus on a new one.
Vebinz you can't make a Highlander movie without a highlander, and sure there are many immortals, but coming up with yet another scotish one, for me it sounds stupid
sebseb seb
Well, ofcourse it's called "Highlander" so has to star a highlander, but it doesn't have to be a MacCloud,
But yeah, it's better not to do one at all.
Vebinz Their can be only ONE!
I'm not a massive Muse fan but saw them live last year on a spare ticket and it was one of the best gigs i've ever been to. Hands down. It may be a bit lazy for folks to compare Muse to Queen, but, after the show, i couldn't shake the idea that I had watched an opera and they would make a mint film soundtrack just like queen did
The first was gold because of everything it was, the series was gold as it followed a new character and had better effects. Let’s go with a reboot following a new timeline
The Older He Gets The More Badass He Looks
Thanks buddy
Is it weird or does he remind me of jcvd?
It's the accents.
