Deacy was their freakin secret weapon....Brain, Freddy, and Roger all were amazing songwriters and John was generally in the background...then he busts out these songs that just make you stop and listen.
This is a timeless movie and soundtrack. It has it all. It pulls you in to the adventure and compassion. The bonding friendship of two rivals. Then tears your heart out when he outlives Heather and fiercely loves her to the end. It takes you up and down the emotional scale. I never get tired of watching this movie. Even the music is great to listen to without movie. Great movie and music. :)

When the subject of a Highlander reboot comes up it is always asked, and I've heard Christopher Lambert, himself, say, "Where would the music come from"? It's acknowledged that the Queen tracks would be virtually impossible to improve on.
There's absolutely no way they could duplicate anything like the soundtrack. Besides the era of music and the film industry we are in it would be some crappy hip hop album or some rap in it. Either that or we get some Lady Gaga bs.
I feel like out of all of the interviews with freddie this is the one he seems the most open and like himself in. He doesnt feel like hes putting on some sort of show at all.
They were among those groups that had that extra something that they put into their music. Kansas had it tool. Steve Walsh put a lot of Mozart in what Kansas did and Freddie Mercury loved the opera and did not care for rock music but was able to put a bit of it in the music they did together. I think it's so cool and it fits in well. I don't really know if there is a name for it, but they are always going to be a part of the "Classic Rock" if not define it.

it's... i'm not sure what the word is... that Freddy spoke about having to think of his future... the bit at 11:20 "i know there will be a time when i can't run around on stage..." there's something so painfully poetic about him not having to actually see that happen. oh, i'm not saying i'm happy he died. or even more so How he died. but that he died before he became irrelevant. he never faced what many aging actors and musicians do... that cut off point where what was interesting and flamboyant just became sad and garish. he never had to feel that moment that some in his profession do where they end up touring the equivalent of Las Vegas with hips replaced and moving with walkers or having their voices blown out and sounding like trash but people still pay to see them out of pity and nostalgia. he didn't have to go through that. and in a way, i think that was a gift for him. i really do. because i don't think he would have been happy as an old has-been. i can not imagine him as Being one. and i can't imagine he would ever have been able to either. we all would like to believe that he'd never have gone out of fashion, but let us not pretend that it hasn't happened to some of our other favorites before. t'is better that he didn't have to go through that than to be forced to retire instead of just being the beautiful bird of paradise that he rightfully was.
Have you seen a recent Queen concert? Brian and Roger aren't exactly using walkers, nor do they look out of place! And I have no doubt that Freddie is smiling down on them

This is my observtion about freddie...aftr he got aids till his death...it breaks my heart while wtching..reptdly his vdeos. Sorry fr my crocked english.

Queen really gave Highlander life. They wrote a perfect soundtrack for the movie - They conquered every musical test, genre they were asked to play..
Queen gave such an uplift to the movie with their sound, that whitout their music that movie won't be the same.
