Probably the most detailed tutorial on YT at the moment, big thanks for that. However, I struggle to forward fckin port 10308 on my new router and make it open, it used to work on old much simpler router.
@@Willoz269 Problem with closed 10308 port is probably the number 1 problem that we as users are facing and reason number 1 why we can't run DCS server. I have attempted so many things to make it open but without success.
It depends on your router etc. I use my own router and bypass my provider's router. I recommend using Ubiquity routers they are very nice and easy to work with.
@@Fox3-Luck The thing is that here where I live, ISP is giving equipment for free so I hadn't considered investment in router. This router is made by Huawei model HA35 with integrated 4G and what not. I have found manual for this router and followed instruction on how to forward port, but port checker site is constantly returning message "port 10308 is closed on IP ...." I have dynamic IP, could dynamic IP be root cause of the problem? What do you think?
I’ve noticed that whilst hdd data goes down, dcs still frequently access it quite a bit and can suffer if the disk lantency isn’t very good, which is typical of network drives. Dcs does seem to use the windows temp file system so moving it to an ssd might also help a bit.
You can put those temp files into a ram disk. Makes everything run faster. However difficult to really execute. OR run from an NVME drive and get decent performance.
thank you ! now i can create a server and i can see it in the server list , but none of my friends can see it on DCS beta nor search for it. i'm lost ! lol
Thanks for the tutorial, one quick question because I don't see it explained but the SRS server script files. which ones are where do you copy ? Thanks!
Hey Luck, Thanks for the great tutorial, Following it to a T. Just wondering when starting a server which is on a separate computer do you have to create a new username and account or do you use the one that's used in game?
1:37 does that need to be pointed to the router's ipv4 (that comes up in ipconfig in cmd prompt) or the external ipv4? Server always seems to be up for more than just DCS but my friends can never find it either through a browser or direct connect. Wondering if this might be the reason?
Nice tutorial. Did you run this in a VM on the same machine as client version. Is there any benefit to running DCS server on a VM in a dedicated machine?
I run Fox3, so we specialize in dedicated servers. The nice thing about a dedicated server is that your client machine won't interfere with it. Plus it's up 24x7. check us out if you want www.fox3ms.com
I’ve heard that it costs money to run a dedicated server. Is this true? I started following along but stopped halfway through after you downloaded the DCS dedicated server.
You saved me! I was portforwarding and all of that stuff on my router web. Thanks did not know of the installer.

@@721MrG One other option is renting a DCS Server from www.fox3ms.com DCS Servers ready to go NO-CONFIGURATION needed.

You need to open two ports, 10308 and 5002 on your router..
@@Fox3-Luck this helps. Thanks a lot. Do the people that want to connect to my server also have to open these ports ?
nope just the server.
Thanks for the tutorial, one quick question because I don't see it explained but the SRS server script files. which ones are where do you copy ?
Thanks!
So there is a scripts directory in the SRS install. Copy that to the saved games\DCS OpenBeta Server directory.

I use the name of my account for my servers. But for my customer servers I use a new account
on your router, you need to open ports 10308 and 5002.
that should fix it

Yeah so whichever port you use, the default or if you want to change it, you just need to tell your router to point to that server..

It's free if you do host your own.
