      @@GaneshBalan do you have to do something before starting it? I have a polo tdi 1.2.

      Before starting the engine, prime the new fuel filter by turning the key to accessories (don’t start the engine). This way the fuel from the tank will reach the fuel filter and the filter will get soaked sufficiently.

    Pls make sure that the drain plug is fully tight before fixing. Recently i changed the filter, didn't notice the drain plug is fully tight, after 1000km drive, diesel got leaked, luckily found out the leak immediately and tightened it. Issue solved.

    Got my 1.2 Polo TDi serviced at an FnG last December and after they replaced the fuel filter, they began cranking the engine like crazy! I stopped them and then primed it the same way but just because of those 2-3 cranks, 2 out of 3 tappet cover seals have been leaking since then. Though there's not much of an engine oil loss, I always find those areas to be slightly wet but I feel skeptical in letting any mechanic touch the injectors. The showroom quoted me a tappet replacement for 34k.

      Oh damn! You must always prime the filters man. I even prime the oil filter by dipping it in the measuring jar with new engine oil. That way, it won’t take long for the oil to circulate through the system. In case of these fuel filters, the HPFP should never run dry.

      @@GaneshBalan I just thank god that my fuel pump is safe. Do include this in one of the disclaimers! Also, what do you suggest I should do with the tappet seals?

    HI BROTHER very clear video of the fuel filter change i have 1.2 tdi 2014 model is this the way the priming will be done and i have got mann filter from somewhere i have noticed it doesn't have a drain plug so is it ok to use or should i get sofima or UFI only ?

    • @GaneshBalan
      @GaneshBalan  2 роки тому +1

      Some filters don’t have the drain plug at the bottom. That’s fine. Please ensure that you use the right filter for your model based on the engine.

    Sir, my friend has a Rapid 1.5 TDI. I was wondering if it's really necessary to go ahead with VW 505 01 oil or any 5W40 ACEA A3/B4 oil should be good?
    Also, is it fine to replace the Fuel filter with the aftermarket ones? There's a huge difference in pricing.
    One last question is, there is no definite recommended Coolant change interval mentioned in the chart attached by you in this comment section. I would request you to tell me the ideal period for Coolant change and the capacity for the 1.5 TDI.
    The car was bought in 2016 and has covered 55,000 kms till date. Coolant and brake oil have never been replaced till date.

    • @GaneshBalan
      @GaneshBalan  Рік тому +1

      5W40 fully synthetic oil is sufficient. 505 01 grade would be good. Fuel filters from good aftermarket manufacturers such as Mann Filter, Purolator, Sofima are good. Please flush your coolant and brake fluid every 3 years. Service centers will do it for a price.

    Which one is better sir sofima or vw genuine ??? Filter

    • @GaneshBalan
      @GaneshBalan  10 місяців тому +1

      Sofima/UFI supplies to VW as an OEM. So out of the two, choose whatever is the cheapest but please check for duplicates/spurious parts. The packaging, build quality, imprints on the outer casing are clear indicators.

      Boodmo sells original parts. Check got ‘fulfilled by Boodmo’ for a part. That comes from Boodmo’s warehouse.

      I am yet to come across fake Sofima/UFI fuel filters. Check for the printing of the logo and part number on the body. The graphics will appear faded or unprofessionally done if it’s a fake.

    Hi! My Polo 2013 1.2 TDi has clocked 47k. I have topped up the coolant regularly. Is there any scheduled change interval for thr coolant?

    • @GaneshBalan
      @GaneshBalan  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Akash, as per their maintenance schedule chart, it says I/R (inspect/replace) for every 15,000 km. When you do the timing belt and coolant pump change at 120,000 km or 8 years, the coolant will be drained and replaced. Your car has crossed 9 years so I am assuming this was done? If not please get it done.
