Lucifer's entire thing is he just wanted to give Humanity the Gift of Free Will, but that inadvertently let Evil into creation and created Hell. Then he was banished there, forced to only ever see the worst aspects of the gift he gave humans. He tried to make Hell a better place, to make it a less shitty, but the Sinners ruined his efforts, forcing him ever deeper into depression. Eventually he just gave up on them and his own dreams. That's why all he did was make a deal so that the Exterminations only targeted Sinners and not Hellborne. Not just for Charlie, who is only 200 years old, but because he likely doesn't think the Hellborne deserve to be exterminated just for being born in Hell while the Sinners earned it.
Huh, My guess for why it was hellborn and not just Charlie was because he was trying to spare her in a way that wouldn't indicate she was someone they could use to control him... but I think this is better
I think that in this canon, God also have given up, basically on Creation as a whole, tho. The Creator who made all the rules, and who favoured humanity over all of his creations, even Angels, would nit just sit back and watch as Human Souls are being exterminated. He must not even be around.
@@richardkutsera4992 I think it's possible God isn't actually a thing in the show's lore at this point since so far everything has been talked about as the angels being the ones who made the world and rule Heaven.
@@williamharmon4039 Ye, I guess it is possible too, and that would be quiet f-ed up, because that would mean Hell is basically opposing/rising up against "the creators" Also people of Earth belive in the existence of a God, tho, it is suggested by Blitz mentioning the son of God (Christ on a stick) and Alastor's nun outfit featuring an upside-down cross, suggesting the "normal" cross should exist too, thus the belif that the son of God died for humanity's sins.
@@williamharmon4039 by the way adding to my previous reply if God does not exist here that gives me some interesting implications, things to think about. With God, Evil is a trial. Those allowing it to take root in their soul punished in hell or purged in a purgatory. If Angels are the Creators here and fear Evil so much, it must than be an outside force. Not part of Creation. Maybe the work of some Eldricht beings in a Void? That would be really interesting. A future season could be with Heaven and Hell working together by then, against Evil, against these Eldricht being or beings from "the Void".
His character description says: "Husker, also known as Husk, is a supporting protagonist in Hazbin Hotel" But the Wiki is known to be wrong. Old ref sheets show his name as Husker but newer ones say Husk. The nickname thing might be a retcon. I won't call you wrong or right. I just thought to do some research but found conflicting answers.
My assumption is that Alastor is very worried about Lucifer making him redundant. So he tries to drive a wedge between Charlie and Lucifer. He can't intimidate Lucifer which is why he's using the one thing he has over him: A connection with Charlie, which he goes to great lengths to misrepresent. Brilliant writing in my opinion
It also seems consistent with him being told the other Overlords weren't too bothered by his extended absence. Alastor seems to need to exert authority over a situation and the people around him. Normally he does that by terrorizing other sinners with his sheer power, but Lucifer is way above him in that regard so he becomes more openly hostile and petty because he feels threatened and needs something to get under Lucifer's skin with.
29:30 Another thing is that Lucifer has ONLY seen the worst in humanity, with something (free will) he gave them. Who wouldn't lose any hope for redemption when you constantly see people like Valentino running around.
Wasn't Lucifer not only seeing the worst but wasn't it part of his banishmed that the has to see the worst and isn't able to see the good anymore. Kinda like a curse?
@@larslaufer301 Yup, that was explicitly his punishment. Banishment to a hell of his own creation where he only saw the evil that his actions lead to, none of the good.
@@AsobiMedioNo wonder that he completly lost faith in humanity and got depression. He never got to see the good people do with the free will he gave them. A wonder that he still hung on to creating stuff at all. First for Charlie, inspiring her and later his obsession with ducks. Makes me wonder what kind of person he was before that.
As a reminder, Lucifer being circus-themed is intentional within the shared universe with Helluva Boss. The Seven Deadly Sins are collectively stylized as a circus act, where Lucifer is the ringmaster. Mammon is a clown, Beelzebub represents animal shows by gymnastically going through hoops, etc.
@@EG-hy9mvI think fire tricks, maybe? His big form is constantly burning, and during the 2 minutes notice song, he tosses Fizz a fire stick to dance with that’s lit with his blue flames
35:48 That scene where Lucifer pulls Charlie from heaven's crosshairs reveals much about him. He cares and want to support his daughter's dreams but fears heaven's retaliation if they defy heaven or its extermination policy. His disdain about reforming sinners probably stems from both his failed dream and the belief that their efforts can't meet heaven's stringent standards for a soul, risking Charlie's safety in the process by making waves in heaven. 36:45 When I see that scene with his clean workshop I think, Lucifer rubber duck obsession is basically him reliving his last sincere moment he had with Charlie before she was taken by Lilith, trying to make her a duck toy better than the last, over and over and over. I rate this episode: "I want to give Lucifer and Charlie a hug" out of 10.
@@EditDeathHe is (something the same shape as) happy to see her, but their relationship is already established, and more importantly, it is a relationship where she is subordinate to him. He can accept the spotlight being on her because she is an extension of him (or at least closer to him than the head-to-head he was having with the King).
@@morthasa Can't argue that! My point was just that seeing Mimzy again got Alastor showing a genuine smile unrelated to homicide for the first time probably ever, and the fact it came through despite a situation where he'd normally be annoyed says a lot about that friendship
I think it's less about someone else stealing the spotlight, and more about being around someone more powerful than him. He can't stand anyone having an advantage over him - or even really _not_ having an advantage over someone else. It's why he was so disproportionately furious when Husk reminded him of his own deal. He immediately looks for a way to one up Lucifer the moment they meet - he knows he can't ever compete in terms of power, so he (quite cleverly, IMO) leverages the fact that he's been more directly supportive of Charlie's dream than her father. It's all he's got over Lucifer, but he's smart enough to know it's more than enough.
My interpretation of Alastor's interest in the hotel is this: He wants to see people crash and burn, but in order to fail one has to try in the first place. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
14:12 don't know if you caught this after Rewatch, but Fans speculate Lucifer Suspected or Knew that Vaggie was a Fallen Angel. After hugging her, he looked at the top of her head where her Halo would be.
Lucifer is still an angel btw, he isn’t a demon, that didn’t change just because he was banished to hell. He still has his wings and angelic abilities, he’s just a ‘fallen’ angel. Sorry if you know this already, it’s just you said ‘he was an angel’, so I wasn’t sure. Anyways, moving on, Lucifer is my absolute favorite character. I love his goofy personality, and it’s heartwarming how much he loves his daughter. He doesn’t know how to talk or connect to her, and it’s caused a lot of misunderstandings on both ends, so it’s nice to see them rekindle their relationship. It’s also interesting, Lucifer’s mindset that is. He’s been around for a very long time. We know hell has existed for at least 10,000 years, Lucifer has been there since its creation, not to mention he was in heaven for who knows how long before being cast out. Lucifer has had a long time to think, and like ep one said, he’s only ever seen the bad side of humanity. He never got to see the good that came from humanities free will. So of course he doesn’t have the best view of his citizens, at least the sinners. I could talk about this for hours, but I’ll stop it here. Just saying, 10/10 character. This series is so good. The complexity of the characters is amazing. I’m happy you’re reacting to it, but also taking time to break it down and analyze it, not everyone does that. Also, season two is already in production. We’ll most likely get season thee as well, that isn’t greenlit yet (that we know of), but Viv was pretty adamant about it on livestream. So we should have plenty of content coming our way.
Oh, my God. He’s my favorite character, for all the reasons you mentioned. Unlike Charlie, I don’t think he thinks of the sinners as “his people,” but at least we know he built them a non-crappy theme park.
One thing, what you said was a 'children's toy' in Lucifer's room, is actually the 7 rings of hell. (Which is also the reminder that Lucifer here is one of the 7 deadly sins. Pride).
@@EditDeathThat’s exactly what I think! Of course, it could also still be a working model, because Lucifer, technically, rules ALL the rings of Hell, with Pride his special purview.
9:27 Yes, Airier, Lucifer actually _does_ show a lot of the hallmarks of clinical depression: disconnecting from family and friends, hyperfixating on hobbies or work, forgetting or ignoring details from conversations... even his manic bursts of energy, the sleep-deprived look in his eyes, and the panicky wheezing and stammering that break up his conversational style ought to feel familiar to anyone with first-hand experience with depression.
34:38 “your princess and your little hotel” and Alastor saying earlier “I can’t have that here, you need to leave”. Those word choices struck me in particular ways, and the fact revealed by Husk that Al is also in a contract leads to a conclusion: whatever deal Al is in involves Charlie AND the hotel by extension, but seemingly Charlie is the PRIMARY objective of the deal. 🤔
This comment made a theory for me: Lilith WAS listening to Charlie’s voicemails in the pilot, and made a deal with Alastor to protect the hotel from the extermination Maybe Idk
19:50 hm, most likely yeah Mimzy was aware of Alastor’s killing spree. She prolly helps occasionally to give alibi to cops by saying he was at the club she was performing for. And prolly in return Alastor gifts his “friend” spoils like money/jewels he loots from his victims to keep things shut between them. 🤔
She also has a very distinct look reminiscent of Rosie and C town, so I'm sure she did more than just give alibis. I mean, alastor Was also a cannibal in life along with serial murder, it's why he's a W*ndigo .
That interpretation makes so much sense. Heaven is the corporate organization he was working for, and he was "upsetting the order" - making suggestions that would inconvenience others who got way too used to the status quo. So he got "promoted away" by putting him in charge of all the shit no one wants to deal with. Congrats, you're the administrator of Hell now! But instead of obediently following orders like a good corporate slave, he attempted to "improve" the system he was supposed to supervise. How dare he...
You mentioned therapists doing analyses on these characters, to which I say, yes, absolutely watch Georgia Dow’s _Hazbin_ videos…on your own time, after you finish the season. They get pretty understandably spoiler-y in the interest of having the full picture on these characters. I absolutely love her video on Lucifer’s depression and she just released her Sir Pentious video earlier today. Her cosplays for each character are a treat, too! Also “He’s like the opposite of Stolas” THANK YOU. I keep seeing people compare him to Stolas in terms of parenting and I get so offended on Lucifer’s behalf every time. Stolas is super preoccupied with trying to make his relationship with Blitzø work to the point where it’d be really easy to forget Octavia even exists if not for her being mentioned from time to time. Luci, on the other hand, actively _wants_ to be there for his daughter, but his depression and the fact that Charlie doesn’t reach out to him (“This is the first time _she’s_ called *_you_* in years!”) have gaslit him into thinking she doesn’t want him in her life. He loves and cares for her more than anything (heh) and *will* show it. Out of all the dads Viv’s written for the Hellaverse, go figure it’s the actual Devil who’s the best one haha
Stolas doesn't realise octavia has an issue until its too late every time, then tries to help. lucifer knows there's an issue but thinks he'll make it worse by trying to help so doesnt
Disagree. Stolas and Lucifer both hold the same regard and love for their daughter, but haven't made it visible to Via and Charlie because of their respective issues. Stolas cares just as much, he stayed in his shit marriage for her and she is probably one of his few, few reasons to continue, and it offends me to think people are discrediting him. Lucifer, however much he absolutely loves Charlie, made her think her dad doesn't give a single shit about her and only talks to her when he needs her to do something. Lucifer is my favourite chracter in hazbin, but he has fucked up in terms of being a good dad to her, and clearly, he's doing a much better job after the show. And stolas is just the same.
@@SS-ui7by Mm. I’ll admit I might be biased as Stolas is the main reason I’ve decided to stop keeping up with _Helluva_ (his relationship with Octavia is a relatively small factor, I’ll leave it at that), but I really don’t want this to turn into a shouting match so I won’t argue on him. But I *_will_* defend Apple Daddy as he’s the character I relate to most: while Charlie _claims_ she and Lucifer have never been close, her verse of “More Than Anything” all but outright states that he was still an inspiration to her. And Charlie doesn’t say he _only_ calls when he needs her to do something; sure, that is a frequent reason, but she also says he calls when he’s bored - in other words, when he wants to talk to her for the sake of it. And remember, in his panic over how to answer the phone, he notes that this is the first time _she’s_ reached out to _him_ in years. And from what we *know* (not “what we can theorize”, “what we *know”),* the distance is a relatively recent development; Lilith’s “only” been gone for seven years, which is definitely long enough to have an impact, but in the grand scope of the few centuries Charlie’s been alive, it hasn’t been that long, it’s just an understandable misfortune that it’s negatively affected both of them. Also, while I love Charlie as much as the next person, she’s being a bit delusional in her reasoning for Alastor being more supportive of her. Yes, he’s done more to help the hotel and has a vested interest in it, but he’s also told Charlie to her face that he only wants to help so he can watch her and the residents fail. Lucifer, on the other hand, is reluctant to support the hotel specifically _because_ he doesn’t think it’ll work and doesn’t want his daughter to set herself up for failure. He has a poor way of explaining it, but his interests are in protecting her. It’s not Charlie he doesn’t have faith in, it’s the idea of Heaven and all their rules ever accepting her and her dream (and he’s right, at least where Sera is concerned, but that’s irrelevant here). He even outright says he “[doesn’t] want her to be crushed by them like [he] was.” He just wants his little girl safe. But he’s aware that his little girl is a grown woman who will ask for help if she needs it, and he doesn’t want to impose. When you have depression, it’s really easy to withdraw from people you care about because you wouldn’t wish such a garbage person onto them. And since reconnecting with Charlie, he’s definitely started handling his depression better, and if he really is moving into the hotel in Season 2, I can only imagine things continuing to improve between him and Charlie. I love our Silly Depressed Short King very much 🐤🤍🍎🐍
@@HannahBaninayes, I totally agree with everything you say about lucifer. He's just a precious soul underneath all that goofiness, depression and trauma. My only point of offence was people saying "he's the opposite of stolas" and that "he's better than stolas" when to me, it couldn't be any more clear how they both have the same kind of relationship with their daughter. -had a better relationship with each other when their daughters were babies -parents separated/super distant when daughter grew old -daughter thinks dad doesn't care for her as much and is too busy for her -dad actually cares a LOT, but that love isn't being communicated to their daughters -dad is depressed af -Dad doesn't truly realise what their daughter wants from them, has a different idea of their daughter's needs in their heads Both stolas and Lucifer are trying, but they're also dysfunctional. Contrary to you, stolas is the one of the main reasons helluva is my comfort show lmaooo
@@SS-ui7byBasically, I agree with both of you, except that I agree with you that it is very hard to watch Helluva Boss for any amount of time and think that Stolas doesn’t love his daughter. He adores her. It’s just next to impossible to shield her from all the stuff going on, some of which is his fault, but most of it isn’t. And since Octavia seems to have been under the impression that her whole family was happy and her parents were fine, Stolas must have been doing an Oscar worthy performance of a happy home.
With the phone call to his dad I got that Lilith lied to both saying that one didn't want to see the other, to both Lucifer and Charlie Because he's so happy to go see his daughter and she was nervous thinking her dad didn't want to see her
@@Deka-Kaizerit seems pretty obvious to me that Lilith broke them apart before abandoning them. *Spoiler* It was probably the deal that got her into heaven in order to break Lucifer's spirit.
Yeah, maybe. Seems to be a recurring trend, although we don’t know who did it to Blitz and Fizz. The only “theys” I can think of who were evil enough to do that are Cash, Blitz’s father, or Mammon. If the latter is the case, Mammon gets a gifted young clown who literally owes him everything.
16:55 Dude, you and I are probably like the two only fans on the planet who got that reference- literally everyone else was calling it a Violin and I was cringing and lowkey crying so hard at the lack of knowledge about that song 😭 Edit: All of you in the reply section are missing the point completely- it doesn’t matter if fiddles are technically a type of violin. It’s the fact that in the song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, it is expressly said that the devil plays a fiddle. Even if it is the same type of instrument, The reference is about a song of the devil playing the fiddle, it’s not called a violin in the song.
“A fiddle is a bowed string musical instrument, most often a violin. It is a colloquial term for the violin, used by players in all genres, including classical music.”
36:14 spoiler for last episode so you can read after! I am certain this is why Lucifer does not join the final battle until after Adam was about to kill Charlie. That was breaking the rules of the deal that mostly Charlie and hell borne citizens would be spared. I know some say it is because of Dazzle dying and that became the “sacrificial lamb” to summon Lucifer; however he has been shone to teleport. He can make portals. Also Charlie’s summons is on the house, so the fact he immediately appeared once Charlie’s life was in danger and never once showed himself before that in all those years means that the scene had significance in regards to why he was absent. Also, if Adam was able to change the time of the extermination with no push back, means that the specifics of the deal had technically not been breached yet. As long as Charlie stayed safe and out of harm then it was safer for Lucifer to say nothing.
I absolutely love "More than Anything" - it's one of the best songs in the show. Not my top favorite, but close. Also, on Charlie's singing - they mention in the episode 1 intro that Lilith was known for her voice which she used to inspire demon-kind, so she was likely a singer too.
Alastor loves to show his superiority over others from what i've seen. Usually its in pure power but he cant pull that shit with Lucifer so he goes for the one thing he does have/had over him. His Bond with Charlie
What's funny is Lucifer isn't even that short. He's just next to a bunch of characters who range from Charlie being six feet tall to others being seven or eight and higher.
Yeah, that song gets me misty eyes too. I love this whole arc of it being clear that their estrangement was never something either wanted, but just a case of both of them were too nervous to be the one to make the first move to come back together. As well as how much you can tell his fighting against Charlie's idea is in large part fueled by his own past trauma of dealing with Heaven being triggered. He's trying so hard to be a good dad, but just, has a lot of his own baggage holding him back. Also, apparently the "Accordions aggressively" bit in the song was a little nod to the fact that prior to deciding to go with a nearly all Broadway cast, Vivzie's idea for casting Lucifer was Weird Al. Oh and also, yes Georgia Dow is doing an AMAZING series of breaking down the characters from a therapists PoV you should totally check out/react to after you finish the season.
36:15 Aye, recall in the first episode Lute mentions that Charlie and the Hellborn have a 'pardon'. The Extermination targets only the Sinners who are restricted to the Pride Ring. The agreement likely included Lucifer's lack of interference as a price for the pardon.
When he sees the spears pointing at Charlie, his eyes widen in horror and he spins her away out of the light and into the shadows, making sure the light only falls on him. Glorious.
My theory is Nifty is the overlord of all insects. Tiny lives... but Trillions of them!!! That's why she hunts down the insects around her, they haven't taken her deal!
Also nah, Alastor is not stepping up to defend the hotel to mess with Lucifer. He is doing it for his own ego, "letting off steam" after he was reminded that he is "also on a leash".
Idk if you caught this, but Vox has a gospel outfit form stayed gone and alastor has a nun outfit, also when vox realizes that alastor is back, has has the same reaction to as when husker makes alastor mad. This is a correlation to them being old friends. (All a theory based on what’s happened so far)
_The thing you said about Lucifer overcompensating for something is very true since he's not only the king of hell but also represent pride! Which may explain why he tries so hard to not be his sad pathetic insecure self-_
I have just noticed the upside down cross on Alastor's nun-outfit. Still not sure wether Jesus did exist in this canon, as an actual Redeemer, or just his legend among humans, so strongly all the symbols were taken even their disfigurations into Hell and Heaven's imagery. Also: Duck Fascination: He is the Ugly Duckling, who was cast out and is still hoping he'd become a beautiful Swan one day.
@@rise.-mikey you mean like watching Earth from Heaven, or being actually on Earth? Either way tho, there is something he should be watching out for, namely a group of imps coming up there regularly, murdering a whole lot of people XD
@@richardkutsera4992Oh yeah that's true, the Imps be causing way too much havoc on earth xD but ye I do mean earth, earth. I can see that happening and knowing it's difficult to keep an eye on everything and Jesus being a human would be a difficult task for him.
@@rise.-mikey depends on how they'd interpret him. Because if he was the true son of God, at this point he would have angelic power(if Adam has, Jesus, the son of God would have, too ) so the crew would be in big trouble if met him XD. Also btw if he was the son of God that would bring kind the implications to the table. That would mean he have died for humanity's sins, redeeming them. That than would mean that extermination of human souls is a "big no no" a cardinal sin Heaven is committing.... And that would imply God is no longer around, gone somehow, otherwise would have put a stop to the Exterminations long ago
@@richardkutsera4992 I think in the Helluva Hazbin universe God is more like a normal dude and just is too overwhelmed with watching over the entirety of creation. Mainly because 1. That's in character for the show, and 2. Sera, who is supposedly in charge, is scared that Emily could fall but if Sera is in charge why would she be? Because God is in control but is not a 100% do gooder.
Lucifer is exactly like Charlie with the love, the care, the desire for good and happiness but he also has the biggest failure in all of history to his name. In the intro (Ep1) it was said he wanted life to be a party and believed in the end that giving free will to humans (Eve) would bring this, but instead it allowed evil to Earth, created hell with damnation, and every evil act a human has ever done is all his fault, no wonder he has depression and is on the edge of a mental breakdown constantly (that gasping mid conversation is rough). Lucifer is scared of heaven because they crushed his dreams and when he went for it anyway all bad things happened and he was punished so he doesn't want something worse for Charlie. As a side note like many people I believe he is nerodivergent because as someone with ADHD I've never sympathized more with a character. His attentions, his distractions, his obsessions, and the way he views the world differently than all around him are good examples of this and explains why he feels so isolated and separate. 5:26 That is the father of the Vaughn Eldrith family, little is known other than that the 2 families are friends and Charlie dated the son Sevathan (top left moments later), pictures of the 2 groups together are also in the pilot and Charlie annoys the daughter (and Mimsy) during her news song. 36:21 Well the deal was all hellborn are free from extermination not just Charlie, the deal likely occurred before she was even born and was ment to give hellborn a chance to be good. 39:43 Vivzpop has described hell as a circus with Lucifer the ring master and the other Sins as the attractions like Beelzebub being the animal performer/tamer as the given example, this explains why everything is circus themed both very tied to him and Charlie but also everywhere else.
The deal you spoke of with Adam is actually between Lucifer and Heaven. Lucifer will allow the yearly purges, so long as none of the hellborn are killed. Essentially, his daughter, imps, razzle and dazzle
For the record (on the chance you haven't found out yet), the rainbow rings you see both in Lucifer's room and even in the hotel in earlier episodes aren't toys: they're the 7 rings of hell, each ring representing a different sin.
I think Alastor was the one with Daddy issues. He's a Momma's boy and always has to flex something over the men in his life, yet he gets along famously with women. Suspicious. The only exception to this is Zestial, who he genuinely seems to respect. And of course, he felt slighted by Carmilla's disinterest.
10:16 I just realized something about Alastor. He’s obviously allied himself with Charlie because of her latent power and his mysterious deal, hoping to break free of it, but when he first sees Lucifer he’s immediately irritated. I thought it was his rampaging ego being like “THIS is the king of Hell? The man in charge? Pathetic, I could run this place with my eyes closed and hands tied behind my back” but I just realized it could also partly be “This is what’s holding Charlie back from greatness? THIS poor sorry excuse for a father? Guess I’ll have to up my game as her mentor if I wanna get anywhere soon” because his ultimate goal with Charlie is to help her reach her full potential and exploit her good nature and goodwill towards him.
The Devil's fiddle reference is waaay back before "The devil came down to Georgia" (I love the Steven Ouimete version btw). The myth The Devil has a fiddle came up to people imaginary after Paganini's Caprices, an incredible suite (a group of musical pieces) allegedly he composed in a single night. The suit was so amazing people started to believe he'd got help from The Devil Itself, so he must be a great fiddle player. We can see this myth reflected in a lot of pop pieces: the already mentioned song, in Futuruma the Robodevil has a fiddle :)
{NO SPOILERS SAFE TO READ} It's been theorized with the rubber duck obsession and other personality quirks that Lucifer might be someone that's a high functioning autistic or someone with Asperger's Syndrome and that Lilith might have been driving everything that was involved in their fall. It would explain why he has so many problems with things like social cues and maintaining relationships. Also, even in the storybook in episode 1 it was shown that Lucifer's punishment was to see the worst of what free will brought to humanity in Hell while Lilith thrived and created their kingdom with her songs. Hell is really Lilith's kingdom, but it's still Lucifer's prison. Also, there would be a possibility that other archangels in heaven would be his contacts to arrange a meeting for Charlie as they would be considered his brothers and sisters. Michael, in particular, is often portrayed as his twin so that might be who he's contacting behind the scenes. Him or Gabriel, who was the messenger of God among the archangels.
The theory is Lilith controls Alastor but Husk knows about the deal so it was already in place before Alastor left. My theory is Eve has Alastor protecting Charlie from Lilith but i have no reason for that.
fun fact in case you were unaware. but in the music bits the effects are not just for the fourth wall or audience. its literally the demons singing that warp reality. you can kind of tell since husk and angel didn't change much, alastor changes a bunch of things and lucifer just does whatever he wants with no limitations since he has the most power-
41:16 a therapist UA-camr by the name of Georgia Dow actually has a great video on Luci’s… depression. But I would suggest you wait till the end of the season to watch it, as there are some spoilers for episode 8 at the end.
16:03 I don't think Alastor in a nun costume was on anyone's bingo sheet but you're right I have seen way too many sexy pictures of Alastor in the nun outfit
(16:13 And we all know it's probably Vox.) Honestly it seemed like Alastor felt very *threatened* and *insecure* this episode; which is interesting to see. I think it's the first time we see *his ears go back*, too! I'm sure he doesn't like not being the most powerful creature in the room (that will actually USE that power), and Lucifer's arrival definitely made him feel threatened. Now add Husk reminding him that he's on a leash... (Ngl I'm really enjoying how much attention to detail you're picking out, it really makes the videos fun to watch!)
And the reason he's never shown that kind of insecurity around Charlie is that she might have the _power_ to wipe the floor with him, but she doesn't have the willingness to hurt people. Lucifer, though? Definitely not someone you want to start throwing hands with.
omg i just noticed when you pointed out the drawing that nifty probably did, i believe thats probably her artistic depiction of Alastor since they can't get photos of him, the next frame shows another drawn picture with a rainbow overtop the shadowy figure and a red figure who i assume might be nifty?
I was amazed that Lucifer had such influence and power in heaven but he could not ascend. So I thought he had conditions for meeting Heaven and one of them was that he had to go alone.
"More than anything" is my favorite song of the whole show. I wish so badly my own father could be as open to me because he means a lot in my life, especially after my mother passing. But we had a rocky relationship for a while after that, and now that we are living apart, it's easier to mend the pain. So, in some way, this song felt like healing in a lot of way. You won't convinced me that Lucifer and Stolas aren't the same character at heart ! Depressed fathers scared to pursue what could make them happy in fear it might disapear, like a good relationship that's better far away. And great dad, may I add, even if they're not perfect. I love them way too much, they are just too cute. As for Lilith, she's in a very strange position as for now. We've seen her face in pictures so it's not like we don't know what she looks like. A popular theory is that we've seen Eve in that scene, not Lilith, because that person look way more the shadow we saw in the opening scene. And, some merch add to that feeling. After all, we don't know where Eve or Lilith are. Maybe they switched places from time to time. Maybe Eve took Lilith place for her own gain. Everything is still open so keep an open mind :3
Also commented this in your discord server. Lucifer was confirmed autistic by Vivienne so it explains his awkwardness and hyperfixations on rubber ducks
i think alastor got his power FROM HUSK. Since Husk used to be an overlord, and demons become more powerful the more souls they own... I think Alastor was just a regular demon, maybe a little stronger than average but not at the level of an overlord, until he was able to take Husk's soul, and probably inherit all the souls that Husk owned too. That would immediately put him on the level of an overlord, hence how he "came out of nowhere".
"More than anything" always makes me cry ugly ugly tears. Especially when Lucifer pulls Charlie away from the angels' weapons and says "you're the only thing worth fighting for"
Just wanted to add on for why Lucifer was saying the sinners can't be redeemed, in the first episode of the Prime series they stated that he lost his faith in humanity. Lillith continued to thrive while he gave up on them.
... If Lucifer was referring to thinks he's built later in the episode as a reference to hell, maybe the child's toy was how he built hell for his daughter? That'd be ironic and kind of hilarious to me.
Alastor's whole deal is to keep you guessing. Does he care about the hotel? Probably not. Is it somehow important to his plans? Probably. Does he care about Charlie? No. Does he care that she might be useful in the future, with her royal status? Probably. I do not trust any "wholesome" movements from this guy.
IMO: In this story with Lucifer, he gave free will to humanity but he and Lilith were cast into Hell to see an onslaught of humans who only made evil choices with their ability to have free will. Lucifer is not permitted to see those who used free will in a positive way. I believe that is why Lucifer is or has been depressed.
Lucifer asks what in hell is that at the bar because Alastor build it, if you notice it, everything alastor builds has this swamp like appearence, even his own room, which lucifer disliked it
5:28 That guy in the painting is Frederick von Eldritch, a good friend of Lucifer and most likely a business partner family. As far as I know, they are overlords, with Frederick and Bethesda being the parents, with Helsa and Seviathan von Eldritch being the children. Seviathan is also Charlie's ex-boyfriend.
I had never heard about Jeremy Jordan before HH, and I certainly never heard his singing voice before either. But my jaw dropped when the voice came out of Lucifer's dopey face. I am not really emotional when it comes to music, but I also had tears in my eyes by the end of the music number. It truly is a beautiful song
and if you couldn't tell @Airier Lucifer is heavily depressed. and yea Alastor and Lucifer hate each other to the core. And Alastor is more of a father figure than Lucifer.
They don't hate each other. They are just competing over Charlie's attention like a biological dad and a step dad would. Granted Alastor is doing so for other reasons but still, they don't hate each other
@@70C00K Lucifer doesn't hate Alastor. Lucifer hates the fact that Alastor is trying to steal Charlie's attention. And Alastor doesn't hate Lucifer either, he's just pushing his buttons, see how far he will go, the song makes it very clear that he's just intentionally pissing him off. It's not out of hate.
There is a thearpist channel who does it with hazbin hotel that you are free to watch. My only warning though is that is best you wait until you are done watching the season so you won't be spoiled by what they will bring up in the videoes. The therapist youtuber I'm talking about is Gerogia Dow. For they are great ok ^^ It would be awesome! If you ever plan to watch them as reactions as she is my favorite so far to them.
03:23 Wow.. okay. I'm Welsh and I did not know about Cyhyraeth. The cyhyraeth is a ghostly spirit in Welsh mythology, a disembodied moaning voice that sounds before a person's death. Legends associate the cyhyraeth with the area around the River Tywi in eastern Dyfed, as well as the coast of Glamorganshire
Ohh I just figured why Alastor is annoyed by Lucifer, it's because with Lucifer's help the hotel could work, and Alastor wants them to fail for his entertainment, that would make sense
the reason alastor wants people who actually want to redeem themselves in the hotel is because he wants to watch people that are genuinely trying fail miserably. it would be boring if they were never trying to begin with.. also lucifer is the oldest angel technically. being the first angel god created. so theoretically he is the most powerful of them all. one against one no angel can beat him its just that they all grouped together to kick him out. at least that is the common interpretation,
35:28 "I've tried this all before" I really want to know what Lucifer means. I don't think it's about the free will thing, that feels little bit out of context. Also the hotel is weirdly Lucifer-themed, there are apples and snakes and cirkus tents...did he build it? I don't know if he actually tried redeeming sinners in the past and gave up, bc this explanation seems to be bit on the nose.
You should read/watch Good Omens. Crowley, my favorite character, was cast out of Heaven simply for questioning the status quo. It's a wonderful take on a similar premise. 🙂
@@richardkutsera4992
I think it's possible God isn't actually a thing in the show's lore at this point since so far everything has been talked about as the angels being the ones who made the world and rule Heaven.
21:02 His name is Husk. Husker was just a nickname Alastor gave him to piss him off.
Yeah I kinda thought husker was his real name 😅
Maybe Husker was his human name
His character description says:
"Husker, also known as Husk, is a supporting protagonist in Hazbin Hotel"
But the Wiki is known to be wrong. Old ref sheets show his name as Husker but newer ones say Husk. The nickname thing might be a retcon. I won't call you wrong or right. I just thought to do some research but found conflicting answers.
@@gg_odysseyNot likely, Sinners take on a brand new name in hell. Husk probably had a normal name before.
In the pilot Husk says “Don’t Husker me”
My assumption is that Alastor is very worried about Lucifer making him redundant. So he tries to drive a wedge between Charlie and Lucifer.
He can't intimidate Lucifer which is why he's using the one thing he has over him:
A connection with Charlie, which he goes to great lengths to misrepresent.

I imagine Satan would be the guy who’d hate the circus motif and build an army to remake Hell (whatever his image is).

Alastor is ALWAYS annoyed when someone else is stealing the spotlight
And yet, every smile he sends Mimzy right after she storms into the hotel looks like it might actually be genuine!
Definitely a theater kid
Pride).
Along with Satan, Beelzebeb, Mammon, Asmodeus, Leviathan, and Belphegor
Might be both, if you think about it. A model of the 7 rings, the way some kids get a model of Earth or the solar system
@@EditDeath could also be!
@@wingedbluj1674Wrath, Gluttony, Greed Lust, Envy and Sloth in that order.
This comment made a theory for me: Lilith WAS listening to Charlie’s voicemails in the pilot, and made a deal with Alastor to protect the hotel from the extermination
Maybe
Idk
He even outright says he “[doesn’t] want her to be crushed by them like [he] was.”
He just wants his little girl safe.
-had a better relationship with each other when their daughters were babies
-parents separated/super distant when daughter grew old
-daughter thinks dad doesn't care for her as much and is too busy for her
-dad actually cares a LOT, but that love isn't being communicated to their daughters
-dad is depressed af
-Dad doesn't truly realise what their daughter wants from them, has a different idea of their daughter's needs in their heads
Both stolas and Lucifer are trying, but they're also dysfunctional.

@@SS-ui7byBasically, I agree with both of you, except that I agree with you that it is very hard to watch Helluva Boss for any amount of time and think that Stolas doesn’t love his daughter. And since Octavia seems to have been under the impression that her whole family was happy and her parents were fine, Stolas must have been doing an Oscar worthy performance of a happy home.

We can see this myth reflected in a lot of pop pieces: the already mentioned song, in Futuruma the Robodevil has a fiddle
:)
My theory is Eve has Alastor protecting Charlie from Lilith but i have no reason for that.
fun fact in case you were unaware. but in the music bits the effects are not just for the fourth wall or audience. its literally the demons singing that warp reality. you can kind of tell since husk and angel didn't change much, alastor changes a bunch of things and lucifer just does whatever he wants with no limitations since he has the most power-
43:48. Prime agreed to the first two seasons at the same time. Not sure what season 2's release date will be, but there will be more.
Huh. Wasn't aware they got both at once. Good on prime for taking that plunge. Most barely take a single season for a cartoon in advance. 😯
This isn't true. Prime didn't greenlight a second season until after production wrapped on the first one.
4:20 yes Charly had an emo phase @Airier
Lucifer is the embodiment of traumatized
41:16 a therapist UA-camr by the name of Georgia Dow actually has a great video on Luci’s… depression. But I would suggest you wait till the end of the season to watch it, as there are some spoilers for episode 8 at the end.
Yeah better wait until he watched the entire show because she goes into a lot of scenes that can go into spoiler category
16:03 I don't think Alastor in a nun costume was on anyone's bingo sheet but you're right I have seen way too many sexy pictures of Alastor in the nun outfit
(16:13 And we all know it's probably Vox.)
Honestly it seemed like Alastor felt very *threatened* and *insecure* this episode; which is interesting to see.
Alastor was lucky no one stumbled by when he was having his mental break 😂
10:26
Alastor is propably thinking; THIS is Luzifer? The Ruler of Hell?
Yeah. Ultimately, Lucifer is a deeply kind, hopeful man crushed underfoot by an authoritarian Heaven.
It reminded you of queen? YES! Finally, I'm not the only one! XD.
If Zestial (ancient british spider dude) were hellborn, he couldn't be an overlord. That's a position that only sinners can hold
i think alastor got his power FROM HUSK.
Whenever someone reminds me of The Nanny, I think of Niles and C.C., and all is well.
"More than anything" always makes me cry ugly ugly tears. Especially when Lucifer pulls Charlie away from the angels' weapons and says "you're the only thing worth fighting for"
39:44 it’s a circus tent because Lucifer’s literally the Ringmaster of the circles/rings of Hell
Just wanted to add on for why Lucifer was saying the sinners can't be redeemed, in the first episode of the Prime series they stated that he lost his faith in humanity. Lillith continued to thrive while he gave up on them.
fun fact the sequel: lucifer's coat looks like an apple core from behind.
Actuaoly the thing above the blocks may not be a toy. That appears to be the rings of hell.
... If Lucifer was referring to thinks he's built later in the episode as a reference to hell, maybe the child's toy was how he built hell for his daughter?
That'd be ironic and kind of hilarious to me.
16:10 if nothing else, Nun Alastor is a very popular cosplay
Alastor's whole deal is to keep you guessing. Does he care about the hotel? Probably not. Is it somehow important to his plans? Probably. Does he care about Charlie? No. Does he care that she might be useful in the future, with her royal status? Probably.
I do not trust any "wholesome" movements from this guy.
One thing I will always love is how the song more than anything sounds SO close to greatest showman, it’s perfect
Mimzy was a good choice on how to defuse the situation that could've escalated who knows where
IMO: In this story with Lucifer, he gave free will to humanity but he and Lilith were cast into Hell to see an onslaught of humans who only made evil choices with their ability to have free will. Lucifer is not permitted to see those who used free will in a positive way. I believe that is why Lucifer is or has been depressed.
Vivziepop and Helluva Boss itself has confirmed that Lucifer and Satan are two different characters.
Yes, Satan is the Lord of the Wrath Ring.
I want to ask why, but that's probably a spoiler. 🤔
@@Airier no that is a therapist reaction to Lucifer .
They don't hate each other. They are just competing over Charlie's attention like a biological dad and a step dad would. Granted Alastor is doing so for other reasons but still, they don't hate each other
@@Ashurman666 You just explained on a surface level why they hate each other.
4:52 Lucifers clothing looks like an Apple Core
There is a thearpist channel who does it with hazbin hotel that you are free to watch. My only warning though is that is best you wait until you are done watching the season so you won't be spoiled by what they will bring up in the videoes.
The therapist youtuber I'm talking about is Gerogia Dow. For they are great ok ^^
It would be awesome! If you ever plan to watch them as reactions as she is my favorite so far to them.
Mimzy is voiced by Sarah Stiles, by the way. She also played Spinel in Steven Universe.
03:23 Wow..
35:10, "He's not the rebel..." ... He's the outcast.
Ohh I just figured why Alastor is annoyed by Lucifer, it's because with Lucifer's help the hotel could work, and Alastor wants them to fail for his entertainment, that would make sense
I love your analysis! It's so in-depth and detailed!
I love hearing your insight! So happy you're reacting to these. Can't wait for the next one.
I like to think the reason Lucifer had an accordion is because Viv originally wanted Weird Al to play the role
Crymini: "Oh, look. Mimzy got to appear."
the reason alastor wants people who actually want to redeem themselves in the hotel is because he wants to watch people that are genuinely trying fail miserably. it would be boring if they were never trying to begin with.. also lucifer is the oldest angel technically. being the first angel god created. so theoretically he is the most powerful of them all. one against one no angel can beat him its just that they all grouped together to kick him out. at least that is the common interpretation,
"that is a lot of hair"
reminds me of Angel in full drag- the wig he wears is just REALLY big
Charlie have the same energy as a Star Butterfly
36:36 lute said it in ep 1 daddy gave you and your hellborn kind a pardon from an exorcist blade
Just a quick reminder that Hell does not exist to punish sinners here, it exists to punish Lucifer.
7:20 he still wears his ring.
Bro literally wiped his hand on his shirt after shaking hands with Lucifer 😂
Gotta like the small details, like the lesbian flag colored cake Lucifer serves to Charlie.
