I like to think that the reason Alastor kept needling Lucifer is because Lucifer dismissed him right off the bat, and we know Alastor doesn't like it when people write him off, but Alastor isn't dumb enough to start a direct fight with what was once the most powerful of the highest choir of angels. It pleases me to see someone Alastor can't just threaten into submission
It does make sense he even eyeballed Carmella when she didnt care
No, even before Lucifer dismissed him he was already annoyed, it's probably has something to do with Lilith, since Lilith and Lucifer isn't in good terms now, and we know that Alastor been gone for 7 years like Lilith, maybe the person who is owns his soul is Lilith, or it could be also voodoo spirit or some other powerful creature, it would explain why he was already powerful since arriving to hell.
Alastor is just a pathetic sinner. It seems to me that it was Lilith who helped him become so strong, just to protect his daughter, for example, Husk said that someone put a “leash” on him and this made him very angry. Plus, I don’t see the character development, he’s like a robot, someone trigger his traumas/buttons and that’s it, he makes hysterical threats and tries to dominate like a child. Husk and Angel Dust change for the better, but he doesn’t, which means there’s no point in him staying in this hotel just like that and it seems to me that Lilith is the one who controls him like a doll.
In fact, in the hotel he is nothing there. If he touches anyone, he will offend and disappoint Charlie - Lucifer will kill him or arrange real hellish torture. He will try to put leash on her, he will also die at the hands of Lucifer, in fact he has no power there at all, no interest in improving, and so on. Just a puppet of Lilith.
@@wicked_person I mean, that still fits with my headcanon. Alastor, the second most powerful being in the room (third after Lucifer walks in) literally was not addressed by Lucifer in any way until he went out of his way to make himself know. Lucifer was entirely happy to ignore his existence until the. Am I saying my idea is correct, not necessarily, but it does fit with his established character. Hell, could be a bit of both. He could have something either against a Lucifer as a result of something to do with Lillith, but we do know he hates being snubbed, so he might have disliked Lucifer on sight, but taken the extra step to actively poke at him because he felt snubbed.
@@TheMadVari Despite his happy go lucky appearance, Lucifer is the most powerful being in hell, that's why he rules all of it. He is the commander of the seven deadly sins, he founded the ars goetia as a governing body of hell who answer directly to him and from his pride ring rules over all of hell. The reason he dismisses Alastor is that overlords mean nothing to him.
A cool detail a few people mentioned is that Lucifer does show a lot of signs of actual depression in the episode
He has repetitive behaviors in order to focus on something (like making endless rubber ducks)
He disassociate and seems to unfocus completely a few times to a point it looks like he's not interested in what his daughter has to say but the way he looks at her it truly looks like he's trying to pay attention but can't
And also shows some suicidal ideation (jokingly dangling from the balcony talking about how easy it would be to just fall off)
Trueeeee
yeah i noticed that too. poor pookie
Not to mention the avoidance of loved ones in how he doesn't often reach out to her, but in his mind he feels like she's the one that doesn't want to see him. Having been depressed myself, my brain constantly convinced me that I was a burden to friends and family and that they would be happier if I died/disappeared from their lives. =(
exactly ! that's it !!
Oh... I know this is a 3 month old comment but I did NOT realize this?? thank you for pointing it out! ugh i love this show so much
I love that lucifer’s solution to the implication that alistor could replace him is to aggressively play the violin at him
Not just any violin Boi pulls the solid gold violin
IT IS A FIDDLE (I really hope it’s a reference to “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” with the devils golden fiddle
Nobody be messing with Daddy once he pulls out the Fiddle
@@dalton912 ok but a fiddle and a violin are two words for the same instrument, it's just how you play it
@@Yttriummm ahhaaaaaaa I knew thaaaaat (I didn’t)
I think I get the duck thing. Angels obviously have the whole bird motif with the feathery wings and whatnot, and Lucifer is literally the scorned ugly duckling still trying to find where he feels he belongs. So the goofy rubber ducks is just a literal symbol for that.
Thats cute af
I saw one theory that is a reference to a story called “the duck and the devil” or something like that
One theory says that's lucifer full angel form, and he dream to have it back .
I was thinking a bit more simply. Lucifer's depression is likely why Lillith took Charlie away from him. In Charlie's part of their duet we see that he was telling her a story about a duck changing into something more and that inspired her to dream. So to Lucifer the last thing he saw that had made his daughter happy was the duck that became more than a duck.
"He might make an appearance in this episode." *HE IS THE EPISODE!*
Also you have to love how at the end everyone is happy to see Charlie & Lucifer reconnect...yes *even Alastor is giving a genuine smile*
TRUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I just realized that Lucifer says "you build something nice for them and they mess it up", and he's NOT referring to the hotel. The entirety of Hell has a circus motive. It's not because it's a joke, it's MEANT to be entertainment, for fun. Lucifer TRIED, but then he got the worse of the worse and that completely destroyed his will to even try again.
And now he's just scared that his daughter trying too will break her as he broke him.
dear god
Also in his song, Lucifer talks about how her dream was what he tried in the past. Seeing the duck in the water turning into an angelic duck. I think Lucifer wanted to help sinners be redeemed and talked about it to a young Charlie. That's why Lilith left him and took Charlie with her, because everyone was telling him his dream was impossible. Then Heaven refused him and instead instated the cleansing...judging by how they went from spears aimed at him in the start of the song to Charlie. He thus lost everything, and all he wants is to not lose his beloved daughter now that he's been crushed so horribly.
Alastor really pulled the *"Youre not the only one she calls daddy"*
On lucifer
NOOOOOOOOOO
I like toes
You are not alone in getting super emotional over “More Than Anything”, my friend. I was openly _sobbing_ during it, and I had to give myself a good few minutes afterwards to collect myself, before moving on to the next episode.
Jeremy Jordan’s voice is absolutely _transcendent_ and it’s such a gorgeous song and beautiful moment for the both of them. 🥹
I’m just out here on the internet exposing my daddy issues I guess 😭😂
@@TheMadVarifrrr lol. I like got over the grief to the last stage (had to cut the garbage off) but this still stung more than anything
That song just...ugh...Its so damn heartwrenchingly obvious how he loves his daughter. T_T
My Daddy issues hurt so badly. this song was so beautiful ahh
'take that depression' got me rolling for hours, also alastor is a certified mood, and so real
So petty and so real
I had the same reaction to "More Than Anything". Lucifer's voice messed me up 😭
I actually had to edit out how I started floating as his voice made me ascend
20:30 That's Jeremy Jordan for you. The voice of an angel for sure.
Bro turned my ears to gold
@@TheMadVari Look up him doing a genderbent version of the most well-known song from the musical The Waitress if you want to cry some more.
The petty back and forth between Al and Lucifer had me in hysterics. Seriously wasn't expecting it. But loving Lucy coming in with the accordion. 😂😂😂
The song was just so clean
This episode really left me in tears! Alastor is definetly doing what he's doing for Charlie only because of Lilith, it has to be. It was so funny seeing him lose his cool with Lucifer, just pure comedy. It's sad that in reality Alastor doesn't really believe in caring about Charlie like a father, but still I'm wondering his deal with Lilith. This show is so good!
It would make sense for him to wanna throw hLucifer off his game so he could take the throne as well
@@TheMadVarithat won’t happen because Lucifer is 4 times higher rank then him and if anyone’s gonna try to take the throne it will be one of the sins
@@TheMadVariNo, it's actually was said that Alastor doesn't care about power.
@@wicked_person It's true he doesn't care about power, but what he _does_ care about is being respected. He's very particular about being acknowledged, & shows some of the most obvious physical reactions we ever get from him (usually through his eye twitching or the radio noise glitching) when he feels ignored or simply not given his due.
I think he has a huge ego & wants universal respect, even if he had to earn that by instilling fear. His motivations are still hard to figure out unless we say he's being directed to do all this for someone else. I'm starting to wonder if 'Lilith' being the one directing him might be too obvious an answer, & we'll be dealing with someone like Eve.
@@KyrieChii That's is true my dear, I wanted to add this, but simply forgot, glad you said it before me)
I think Alastor sold his soul to someone in order to become so powerful right away because no one had seen a mortal soul gain so much power so fast.
He seemed to have powers before dissappearing but 7 years ago he almost lost a fight to Vox then Lillith and Alastor disappeared for 7 years, so maybe Al was close to death and got saved by Lilith so now he works for her
@@TheMadVari Alternatively maybe Lilith taught Alastor how to hone his abilities, hence why he nearly lost to Vox initially, he was inexperienced.
The ducks are a representation of Lucifer. He is the "Ugly Duckling" of heaven, he had different dreams, ideals, he never fit in, and was ultimately cast out.
That is why the gold duck in the last song had the same wings as him when showing Charlie
That is cute af
Alastor really misunderstood folks calling him Deer Daddy, huh?
We got devil daddy, deer daddy and sky daddy
well he definitely is daddy long legs, lol
@@Daesma999 that sounds like a new name for the radiodust ship😂

@@Daesma999 I don’t ship him with anyone either, but the thought was to funny to not share
Lucifer actually got Alastor to curse that is amazing not once through all of The episodes even the pilot has he cursed Of course the king of hell could get Alastor to stoop . Alastor lowkey looked good in that. The Waiter outfit that lucifer put him in for those few frames
Edit Jeremy Jordan does have that voice that he can make sound almost Angelic
Thus far, the only other person to do that is Vox in the "Day in the Afterlife" comic
Alastor saying fuck didnt even register fully lol
Ikr I thought I was the only one that thought he looked so good in this outfit
Just gonna say in case you didn't notice, that because of the whole "only 8 short episodes in a season" thing, there's been a 5 month time skip, so Alastor didn't return to radio "yesterday"
They do address that soon so I get very overwhelmed by it
Hells Greatest Dad did not need to go as hard as it did. Not even joking, I listened to it on repeat for a good 10 minutes straight.
Trueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I love how lucifer just brings out the acordion just the cut the flow of the song "like fuck you this is my song"
It was in fact his song
19:57 this was literally my exact reaction when I heard him sing like this for the first time. I literally got choked up. 🥹🥹🥹
Made my eardrums turn to gold
This episodes REALLY brought out the dad issues in me. Loved the song.
Honestly sameee
I love the beef between Lucifer and Alastor them being jealous at each other is really hilarious😂
It was so unexpected
8:22 totally Aladdin vibes 😆
Very trueeeeeeeeeeee
I know alastor doesn’t see Charlie as a dad he’s just making Lucifer mad
ONG
Lost my dad when i was really young and that song literally healed something in me. I literally sobbed.
I’m sorry for your loss but I love the healing
It's not really said, but Lucifer made a deal with heaven to pardon/excuse, all natural born in hell from the extermination. So, only sinners are targeted. But i can only imagine how lucifer would react if Charlie got hurt or killed by angels.
Adam said it in episode 1
I am so glad someone else caught the goth Charlie picture. Hope to see fanart of that soon. =D
We stan goth women here
Alastor was so insecure during the song... like, trying to press Lucifer buttons because he knows Lucifer is much more powerful than him.
To me felt like he was goding him into a fight like he wanted to see how powerful Lucifer really is or just being petty
I'm calling it, Alastor has daddy issues and he doesn't like Lucifer because he's irresponsible, he let extermination being and made more problems for his daughter, Alastor doesn't seem to be very mad at the end of the "More than anything", idk, just my guess.
@@wicked_personit is actually canon that alastor was a mommas boy, and she doesn't seem to be in hell as far as we know.
@@distortionistxx No, actually, she might be in hell, because in the end of the pilot Alastor said that his mother showed him receipt of Jambalaya that almost killed her, he also said " You could say that kick was right out of 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡" don't know if pilot is full canon still, but yeah..
What Vivzie writing another daddy issue character? Nooo. It's only been the one thing she's written for 4 years, no way.@@wicked_person
Luci went straight for “I bet a fiddle of gold against your soul!”
The Georgia arc is next season
TAKE THAT DEPRESSION! bro the voice crack of lucifer😭
He’s trying his best
@@TheMadVari lol
I just want to hug him so bad!!!! poor Lucifer
i think Alastor's beef with Lucifer is partly that he wasn't even told (he had a slight look when he walked in on everyone else getting stuff ready) and that Lucifer dismissed him/disrespected him.
The dismissal is the huge part for me
Maybe Lucifer has the ducklings because they remind him of himself when he was still an angel, an "ugly duck" among so many swans.
Cutie
fun fact: the va for lucifier voices varian from the tangled series
He voices a tonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Has anyone noticed how similar both in personality and looks Charlie is to her father she is
Makes you wonder how Lillith will look and act in poerson
the best reaction i've seen so far
Shouting and Jumping is my speciality
Lucifer was also able to get ahold of alastors coat and pull him closer right before mimzy burst through the door,
He the big dog
My theory is that Alistor, after losing the battle with Vox [bc in episode 2 Valentino said Alistor "almost beat him (Vox)" 7 years ago], made a deal with Lilith to gain more power (or he made the deal when he got to hell, thus making his powerful). It might be a contract similar to the one he has with Husker, and he's been helping Lilith behind the scenes with something big. I believe that's the main reason he went to Charlie is because Lilith sent him. His animosity to Lucifer could be after hearing things second hand from Lilith and wanting to be a petty bitch.
It was said in the first episode story that Lilith thrived and empowered her people in hell. She might be gearing towards a war. She might not. I can't wait to find out 😁
It may have been Alastor almost actually lost and made a deal with Lillith to save his soul and in doing so bound it to her. Which would make sense with Vox being kinda surprised Alastor overwhelmed his broadcast
But i think that why lilith left Lucifer but i think more is the faceless lilith might be eve because we have adam but where eve?
@@TheMadVari My biggest counterargument to that is how worked up and angry Vox was about Alastor being back. That wasn't the reaction of someone who has one up over Alastor, that's the reaction of someone who still very much fears Alastor. My personal theory is that Alastor had Vox on the proverbial ropes and then either got bored and abandoned the rivalry or was whisked away by Lilith, leaving Vox to claim a victory by default rather than outright.
Plus, if Vox really beat Alastor fair and square, it doesn't make sense to me that Alastor would take that lying down upon his return. And if he DID beat Alastor, why wouldn't he bring that up in his broadcast-battle with Alastor? Why wouldn't he just throw in, "I sent you on your vacation/hiatus/sabbatical because I beat you!" or something like that?
To me, the likely scenario is Alastor WAS winning-hence, "Almost beat you that time"-and then, without warning, vanished, leaving Vox to claim victory by default. It's like if a boxing match was going into its final round and one fighter was beat to piss and the other one was fine but just got up and inexplicably left the arena; yeah, Vox technically won, but he's not gonna be comfortable seeing Alastor again. He knows it's not a victory he can lord over Alastor, so he doesn't. The best he can do is say "The demon is a coward" for leaving their battle without fighting it to the end.
Idk man, there are too many unanswered questions around Alastor. It usually feels like he's trying to pull things from the shadows, but Lucifer's visit is the first time we've seen Alastor *initiate* hostilities. And the theme around their song is Alastor trying to "take Lucifer's place" in Charlie's eyes, but we all know Alastor doesn't give the first tangible shit about the Hotel or Charlie's goals/feelings. I've said it in other comments, but I think Alastor is setting the board to make a play for the throne, and that song was Alastor's veiled 'declaration of war', threatening to take Lucifer's place. Charlie is one of the pieces on Alastor's board, but I don't know what he intends to do just yet.
My theory reguarding the bit about Vox is that Alastor was winning, then the other twi V's stepped in, the 1v1 turned into a 3v1, and so Alastor fled.
My reasoning is as follows:
- Vox called Alastor a coward in Stayed Gone which would indicate Alastor fled, partically considering another scene in a later episode where he calls Alastor a coward again.
- Val said Alastor almost beat Vox, which would indicate that at some point Alastor was in the lead/going to win
- Alastor said the Vox would be powerless without the other V's, which could indicate that Vox didn't have enough power to fight Alastor alone and had to have the help of the other V's
im sad cause this is probably the only episode we will see lucifer, or atleast this season. but 100% worth
Getting to see and experience his character finally is good for me
I love it when males openly show their emotions, you don't see that very often, kudos from me, earned ya a like and a follow. now imma go check out your other videos
Awwww I appreciate that so much
i love episodes 4 and 5 the best. alastor knows he can't just take out lucifer so he needles him another way. i love the golden fiddle moment lol
Wild fiddle moment
5:18 Funny enough Satan is actually a seperate dude in the hellaverse. Just like in most versions of the religion. It's only the modern version where they started fusing the two together as one being
Yeah I forgot about that detail lol
What i find more disturbing than his outburst is Alastors non-radio sounding "what is it?" at Husker, Almost like he broke character in annoyance.
He seemed to be upset to be held up again by another one of his demons
gotta love the hate on the first sight dynamic. Our demon pet radio deer feels a threat for once..
Fun fact: When we see Lucifer's room we can see seven rings in the background with varying colour. Its the other seven rings of Hell that we see in Helluva Boss. Cool detail
That is real cool
5:24 Satan is a separated character, king of Wrath to be precise, and a huge imp
The Golden Fiddle made this episode for me. Such a small moment but such a great reference
SO GOOD
I have some theories about Alastor that make me a little nervous for Lucifer moving forward. I think Alastor is, indeed, indebted to Lillith, but he got super invested in the death of the angel and even wants to keep it all under wraps for the moment. My theory is that Alastor wants to take over Hell, and the only way to do that is to kill Lucifer: AKA an angel. If he can get his hands on an angel-slaying weapon, he could feasibly kill Lucifer and take his throne. I think the true demon to watch out for really is Alastor, as much as I love him. I hope I'm wrong, but Alastor plays the long cons, and this would be his biggest one.
Well have to wait and hope
Noticed something that no one else has talked about. Everyone knows that the characters will randomly have blood flowing from their mouths. In this episode, Lucifer does this, but it’s apple juice to symbolise his connection with apples and Eve. It’s also kind of funny because near the end of his song with Alastor he blasts him off screen with said apple juice and I think it’s hilarious that the most powerful overlord in hell was knocked around by a beverage.
Might be piss
Hope not
I CRIED, WHAT!!!!???? Bro I love Lucifer he's my favourite alongside Husker omfg 😭😭😭😭💕💕💕💕
HE CAME IN SO STRONG FOR A CHARACTER
Well... I have a theory. Firstly!!! Lilith may have become angry with heaven and decided to take revenge on them. She tried to limit Lucifer's influence on Charlie, because he was an angel and he was kind. Perhaps she wanted to create a successor for Charlie, who would complete her revenge if she herself failed. She, like Alastor, disappeared 7 years ago after breaking up with Lucifer. Husk said that Alastor is also on a leash, and perhaps Lilith is on a leash. That is why he came to the hotel and although he says that “I am here to have fun, looking at souls who, in trying to achieve something, fail.” Although he says so, in the end he does everything to ensure that the hotel exists. And perhaps it is precisely because he is connected to Lilith that he is so dismissive of Lucifer.
I had that exact thought after this episode came up- it was super brief but it felt VERY Strange that Lilith pulled Charlie away from Lucifer even though they were perfectly fine just bonding. It really seemed like she wanted to limit thier interactions as much as possible.
My final thought is at the time She wanted Charlie to be as independent as Lilith is. She wants a her to be the same and not like her father but obviously that plan failed cause Charlie is more like Lucifer in personality than her mother is.
This is probably the Best reaction video of EP 5 that I’ve seen. Thank you🥲
I appreciate that
there was a 5 month time jump in this episode, that may be confusing since you thought they talked the other day.

Different timeline
I have a theory on who owns Alastor's soul Think about it. They disappeared at the same time And barring Lucifer or one of the other sins. Who would be powerful enough that he would be willing to submit to?
I either was yelling that at the end of this or the next one
A theory going around is that it may be lilith who has his soul. I don't know if that's true, but so far it seems possible because of the time both Alastor and lilith haven't been seen( I believe the show said 7 years or so) because Charlie hasn't seen her father or her mother that long. Plus it would make sense since I believe lilith was queen of hell at the time and Charlie is a princess to Hell( lucifer and lilith are king and queen of hell if I read the lore correctly). Perhaps later into the show it'll reveal who exactly has his soul because right now we learned about Alastor's past of the overlords he vanquished and the unexpected bombshell Husker revealed during his confrontation with Alastor. Perhaps he knows who has Alastor's soul.
@@TheMadVariWell I did make this comment When Husker said it not at the end of the video, so you reached that realization to it makes it makes the most sense Its been stated they disappeared 7 years ago. and we kept taking it But then we thought no Alastor wouldn't submit to anyone only to find out he did that somebody actually holds a leash on Alastor puts things in perspective and connect the dots.
Also, it's matriarch, not patriarch That would be lucifer not lilith
Alastor's soul HAS to be owned by Lilith, they both disappered 7 years ago, in the pilot when Charlie called her mom, Alastor showed up at the hotel right after, I guess Lilith ordered Alastor to look over Charlie (that makes the most sense for now at least), and I don't think he has the power just because he's owned by Lilith, we know Alastor was once a normal Sinner, but because he made overlords disappear and stuff, he gain more power and he then became the overlord himself, and since Alastor is owned by Lilith, and Lucifer and her are seperated, that would explain why Alastor don't like Lucifer

My theory on the whole Alastor Lucifer thing is this.. Alastor and Lilith both disappeared 7 years prior to this. It is very likely that Alastor is bound to Lilith through a contract. Alastor is aroace (a-romantic/a-sexual) but Lucifer doesn't know that. All he knows is that Lilith and Alastor disappeared together. So they both pretend to not know each other, but don't do a good job not showing their dislike of each other.

Lucifer, not Satan. In this show (and in certain tellings of religion) they are two separate beings. Satan will most likely appear in Helluva Boss.

Alastor was powerful and toppling overlords before he disappeared for 7 years. So he can still be on Liliths leash but we don't know what the deal is for. It's not always for power as seen in episode 1

Still didn't see a tail when he was in the waiter out fit But perhaps he keeps it hidden because tails have a mind of they're own so a tail could relay the emotions He's trying to hide behind Also a tail can be a major weakness

Theory: Alastor is actually Lilith, Charlie’s mom, in disguise (hence the disappearance at the same time). The finale is most likely going to be that reveal, and that all the powerful overlords who disappeared over the years are actually being raised as a kind of revolutionary army
Would be crazy
That's an insane theory, that doesn't make sense..

Or my theory is since alastor and vox fight possible alastor mame a contract with lilith to gain more power since that what boost demon power and both of them missing 7 year ago and pretty much Lilith send alastor help Charlie her daughter dream just like she remember Lucifer dream and i have a feeling adam being believe it's was his nature manipulate the higher ranked angels to banish both of them in hell for the first place Lucifer dream crush by adam and adam piss off more is lilith rejected his offer to her banish as well and thus the first sinner begun but i have kne thing in my mind where eve and that why i believe eve is the disguise look like Lilith while Lilith possible try to fix Lucifer now pass to charlie dream but same time raise an army but disguise as a different demon
Pretty sure Alastor's power as a sinner comes from practicing Voodoo while alive, from what I've heard. He apparently died in the 1920s-30s. There's a lot of information outside of the show, so could be wrong.
But him being Lilith doesn't work at all.
It's interesting that this episode basically gives us two threats to Alastor's plan here, but on opposite ends of the spectrum: Mimzy cares too little about Charlie and could ruin the hotel, and Lucifer cares too much about Charlie and could cause her to no longer need Alastor around if he gets too involved
Trueeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
imm that cuevy woman was lillith taking charlie away after the devorce
"Satan is relatable" Satan and Lucifer are NOT the same person, they are 2 different, at least in some versions of the story, and in this show.
