I hope that you make the snowspeeder crushed since it would have already been stepped on. Also footprints from the AT-AT so it looks like it was on the move. Can't wait to see it in the second video. :)
A great touch for making snow slightly glittery without overdoing the effect are the glass micro balloons they sell as a lightweight filler for fillets on full-size epoxy glass aircraft. The St. Crispin's Day speech from Henry V was a nice touch to inspire those rebel troops waiting for that At-At!
This is my favorite scene in the entire trilogy. I love that you are making a base for the AT-AT. I know this is a vignette so it doesn’t haven’t the match the movie exactly, but I would have liked to see crush damage to the speeder as well as the cannons being bent up after it crashes into the snow. Also, don’t practice too much on Dak to get him posed… he needs to be entombed in the back seat of the speeder.
All my thoughts exactly (re: damage + Dak)! Plus a HUGE thank you to Adam for all the amazing builds over the years... and this ATAT. Absolutely incredible. My favorite so far from my favorite film of all time. Thank you SO MUCH!!!
Adam's work is always stellar, but I agree there is an inconsistency with this diorama's layout. The miraculously undamaged "crashed" speeder is in the walker's wake, which must have been some exceptional Imperial driver maneuvering to avoid stepping on it. (Don't want the smell of speeder on your foot when getting back to the fleet, I guess.) There is a fair amount of "creative license" happening here anyway, as Luke didn't activate his lightsaber until reaching the top of his ascent. Still going to be a nice display piece in the end.
Alas, poor Dak. For some reason, seven-year-old me was more upset by his body getting crushed with the speeder than anything else in what is, in hindsight, an unusually violent and mayhem-filled movie for one with a PG rating. (A few years later, I assume it would've been rated PG-13, but that rating didn't exist yet in 1980.) Even the fact that he _died_ didn't bother me as much as what happened to him after.
I'm surprised he didn't add a furrow for the crash landing of the speeder, or footprints for the AT-AT feet. You gotta love the quality of the Bandai models. The levels of tolerance for push-fit are just *chef kiss*
I absolutely love the Gollum/Smeagol editing at 30:00. Hilarious 😆 and such an amazing edit. Keep it up editor you're killing it. Adam you're such a joy to spend some time with even if it's just me watching a video and I hope some day I can see you in person. You help with my anxiety and make me feel hopeful. You've taught me things about life and how to tackle things that aren't even related to making. You're truly an amazing person and I'm so glad that you're here at the same time as me. Thank you for existing man. If I had the chance I'd spend days, weeks , months, or years working under/with you and it'd make me a better human.

@@ZerocoolsPropsandCollectibles Yes that's true but Adam has already "altered" the moment by crashing the speeder, and it would be a waste of the Bandai model at that point.
Adam, as someone who's just gotten (back) into painting tabletop miniatures and making stuff at that scale: the Star Wars: Legion game is almost exactly to scale with that speeder, and therefore the AT-AT. If you want to expand this they do have tons of Echo Base Rebels, Snowtroopers, and I believe there is a pilot Luke at this scale, Echo Base cannons (the little ones that look like radar dishes and don't even tickle the AT-ATs) and more. Could be worth looking into.
Really enjoying this At-At series! Love Adam's excitement and enthusiasm. This was my favorite "character" in Empire. I wish I had kept my At-At toy from childhood.
You are absolutely right, both of these models are two of the most beautiful models in star wars. I like the snowspeeder more than the AT-AT but this one is just a pure demonstration of the imperial might.
I am constantly amazed at the quality and engineering of Bandai kits. I've built several Gundam kits, from EG to MG as well as the 1/12 scale Boba Fett and currently working on the 1/12 Mandalorian Plated kit. I also love seeing Adam work and feel grateful to have a peek into the master's mind and build process.
❤love every minute!!! Watching your videos has helped me realize that I’ve wasted a lot of my life doing nothing when I could have been building models!!! Love your videos!
Adam, I grew up watching mythbusters, and I continue to be a massive fan of your other activities and this channel specifically, you have made such a positive impact on my life and continue to be a huge role model to me in every aspect. I just wanted to say thank you!
Bandai has become a god send for model lovers like me: 1/72&1/144 Red 5 X-wing, TIE Intercept 1/72, Vader's TIE X-1 1/144 TIE ln 144 all have incredible detail for being so small. Testors liquid cement brush-on works wonderfully on these Bandai Snap kits, but paint with acrylic a thin base to shore up really thin parts (lasers on 144 X-wing, for example). Too bad I am not very good at airbrushing. All my kit look manufacture new, no weathering, smh. But Adam is Master-level, I am happy to learn by watching.
I'm a huge star wars geek just having a great time watching this lol and i loved the St Crispin's Day Speech its one of my favorites too. Henry V, Act IV Scene iii 18-67
The fact the chin laser cannons are missing the barrels is driving me mad! XD The kit is a work of art and this build is superb, but the missing barrels are so noticeable. I hope that gets fixed before the whole thing is finished.
I'm surprised that you're the only person to have mentioned that! Their absence is bugging the hell out of me, hopefully he hasn't lost or forgotten them.
You’re not alone. My brain kept yelling at him to install those things. Every step of gluing and then painting and him scrutinizing every detail and these are missed - I was like “get the barrels Adam, please!!”
Love it Adam! Thought you might have made the Snowspeeder look severely damaged with a smashed cockpit canopy due to being stepped on by the AT-AT like in TESB movie.
In my opinion, the AT-AT had long legs to wade through the thick snow layer, not to stand on top of the snow. So a true to design diorama would be to cut it's legs off and make it look like it's barely popping out of the snow. How cool would it have been if during the Hoth battle if the Rebel soldiers saw only the body and head of the AT-AT until It got closer (similar to someone being revealed from the water on a beach) the AT-AT would get taller and taller until it reached the Rebel base.
This reminds me of a Boylei Hobby Time Star Wars diorama but on a larger scale! Can't wait to see the finished build. ESB is my favorite Star Wars episode.
I could imagine Mark Hamill sitting across from Adam having a relaxed conversation during one of the builds. And when the mood takes, wandering off to look around the WorkShop.
Watching a man descending into madness! Got to be your most “unhinged” video yet Adam haha! I love your giddy excitement, or maybe it’s just the glue fumes! Can’t wait for the next instalment
I painted some hoth figures and ships for a game my son had. I used flocking on the bases and painted it white. Made awesome snow. I used some glow in the dark paint under one of the vehicles, not sure what it was but looked like some type of tank, but anyway, it looked like it was leaking some type of nuclear or radioactive fuel from it when charged with a bit of light, lol
I thought Branagh did a fantastic job in bringing Shakespeare's Henry to the screen. One of my favorite movies, I never get tired of seeing it and that speech always gets my blood pumping. Thanks for that Adam. Enjoyed it.
Watching before I head to work all day, sat in myy garden with a cat & coffee. Can't wait for the paint & weathering job on this, personally my favorite part of Adam's making. It's all coming together 👌
Hopefully when Adam gets around to adding details to the snow, he'll remember that multi-ton war machines don't float on the stuff and sinks the AT-AT's feet into it an appropriate amount.
Except that Hoth is a frozen world, like Antarctica, so it is a more ice snow and does not compact very much at all. Something they got wrong in Empire strikes back.

This is awesome! I would very much be interested in Adam doing a limited series on techniques for making your models better. A broken down how-to, kinda thing.
