i remember late 60's going to a minibike shop in miami looking at them, always want one but had a bird puncher so can't complain. tou did a Aweaome job restoring. as for the cop he was just doing his job.
My dad bought me a new Taco 22 when I was 10 for xmas-from what I remember it was $115 from the Maywood CA Honda dealer and he paid it off on a layaway plan $5 a week-you have all the colors right especially the engine which was a light grey color-a little bike like this can really teach a kid how to be resourceful because if you ride it enough it will break down and then you need to fix it and that can be a real teaching tool that lasts a life time-I should post a video of a CAT 250X I picked up and restored for my Grandson to ride-
This is a period-perfect build; the colors are right on, and the modern linkage is a nice safety feature. We always had unsafe throttles- and brakes- back in the day. That 3HP Briggs was a tough, torquey little engine. I hope you can ride your treasure in a safe area. Nice job, glad the final carb adjustments worked out! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Joseph. I tried very hard to make it all original. The tires are original double headed Indian head Carlisle's like they would of had. The engine is an 80202 which is the model 3hp they originally used. The paint on motor and frame is almost an exact match as well. Hunt Wilde grips, bsa foot peg covers, and seat are also what was originally used.
Hello . Beautiful build 👍👍. I heard you mention that somebody possibly remade those front forks for you ? I’m currently restoring a 1969T 44 with the springs in the middle of the forks. Curious if the guy who made your forks would be able to help me with a pair? If possible please give me his contact info. Thank you very much. Once again beautiful build
msptrex I worded that wrong sorry yes it was originally off a edger but it’s been with the bike since new and the engine is only a year or so older than the bike itself. I feel you with those cops.... always buggies me to..
Cops having nothing better to do but bother. Like they should be looking for bigger crime out on the streets not someone who having fun riding a small gas powered bike up and down a street.
Ok, I need some serious help from you if you still have that bike. I have a 2 piece as well and need a few critical measurements to get her back together. 1) the inner/outer diameter plus length of the tubes on the upper frame that the bolts go through. The 2 fronts on mine were hacked off and the rears have been replaced with junk pipe. 2) sounds odd, but the angle of the front and rear upswing tubes on the lower frame (that bolt to the upper frame) I want to ensure mine aren't bent. 3) the paint code for that purple. I've owned mine since 1982 and want to make it right after all these years. Thanks, Todd

Ever since the very first mini-bike was created, cops have been harassing the owners, usually with a costly citation. But kids nowadays have it figured out: Just sit in your bedroom and play video games all day. No need to experience the real world. :(
Nice build! Even the police interruption was a blast from the past 😊 , same same as in the 70 ‘a warning and “if I see you again “ 🤣. So cool 😊😊

Thanks. If you look in my videos I also did a Retro Cat rebuild.

Officer Buzzkill, we need guys like you in Minneapolis, MN
Cops a real doozie! Would probably arrest his mother.
Nice I just sold a 1980’ s mini bike and have a 1970’s Hornet ( my brothers) in the shed to restore!
Very nice bike! I own a 1969 with the original 2 1/2hp Briggs on it. Mine needs a new chain though. But your bike looks amazing! Keep up the good work
Thanks, but these bikes all came with 3hp Briggs originally. So my guess is your 2.5hp might not be original to the bike.

Nice wheels, love the paint and the seat too
Thanks, original wheels just been refinished, original paint code, and original style seat.
Looks awesome.
good clean fun against the law!
Very nice..mini bike

Sounds like you left the choke on.
Didn't have the needle set right. I got it running better later in a parking lot.
You forgot to open the choke?
The needle on the carb wasnt set right. Later on after the vid I got it dialed in.

Can you tell the diameter of the wheels? I would be really happy if you can tell.
Its a 4.10/3.50/5 tire. They are all basically the same in that size.
@@msptrex Thank you :)
Hi. In USA Is prohibited to use that bike on the street?
It is not street legal
Where can i buy one
xeluorp tacominibikes.com
