In this conversation with Dr. Steven D. Hales (Bloomberg University), we discuss Friedrich Nietzsche`s perspectivism and the philosopher's views on truth, Metaphysics and values. We state that it is more reasonable to see Nietzsche as a critic of a particular type of Metaphysics, the most fundamental one of the tradition of Western thought (Plato, Christianity and Kant), than as a rejector of Metaphysics in general. Nietzsche does not deny truth, despite some of his bombastic declarations may suggest to a unwarned reader. Professor Hales argues it is important to read Nietzsche as someone who was experimenting different ideas, rather than an owner of a final doctrine on the various subjects of Ethics, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Aesthetics and other areas. Nietzsche`s contribution to Philosophy is vast and offers a new approach to knowledge with his understanding of values, his several critiques of Religion and Western Philosophy and the affirmation of life.
