      @@AquascapingCube Thanks for sharing, i watch the full video set up and quite easy. How does the flow control on the big bottle work? If you close it, then CO2 will get out on the end of the flow control unit or it cause leak? And that flow control can be use to control the Co2 going to the tank at night without a risk of explosion on the bottle?

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  Рік тому +1

      @@gguabes This flow control is more like "just in case" security solution. When you open it - the pressure will drop and entire systems will stop. I guess you can control CO2 production during the night like that, but it will waste a lot of CO2 so I don't recommend this.

    What I always do: before adding the yeast, activate it by dissolving it in a small cup of lukewarm water. Then pour it in the bottle. Add baking soda to prevent drastic PH changes and prolong the life of the mixture. It's more effective and speeds up the process. Thank you for your video!

    Should always hydrate your yeast before you pitch into the sugars, you will get a better result.

  • @souffle420
    @souffle420 Рік тому +19

    Add Agar.
    250g sugar, mixed into 500mL water. Add Agar powder. Boil and reduce it until only half left (250mL).
    One bottle of it should be enough for a month.
    PS: there's no need to care about bubble per second-BPS.
    If you have a good reactor (can be made with PET bottle, kaldness micro, and small pump), even 1 bubble per 5s will have better result compared to diffuser, which literally only _releases_ tiny bubbles into the water, and not truly _diffusing_ the CO² through water vortex.
    PS2: only use *baking yeast* , as in what you use to bake a cake. Different yeast will produce different result.
    PS3: You can also a tiny bit of baking soda into the yeast mixture. Just a little, not even a half teaspoon. It helps activating the fermentation process faster

      I actually let it run at night the first night and the next morning one of my fish was really struggling. Put an airstone next to her and two day later, she's fine again. But from then on I just direct the flow the co2 into another tank at night, there are just plants and no living creatures so no harm. I just don't dare to close the valve, because i'm afraid of the bubble bursting

    Do you NEED to use fertilizer in conjunction with co2? I've read you may not get the desired effect if you use co2 without the inclusion of fertilizer. Is this true? I'd rather just use co2 without adding ferts into the mix, since i have a planted turtle tank and dont want to harm the turtle with too many chemicals.

    • @morphoplasma

      Even with co2, plants still need nutrients to grow (Nitrogen, Potassium, etc). You might not need to fertilize as much tho, since co2 helps plants absorb nutrients more efficiently.

      Pressure might be to low. I would try to add little more yeast, and remember not to keep it in very cold place. If this doesn't work - check the system for leaks. Both bottles should be really hard to squeeze (high pressure inside).

    • @harlinjenkins
      @harlinjenkins Рік тому +2

      Check for air leaks in the bottle with soapy water or submerge it in water. Also, you need strong pressure for the larger diffusers. Nano-diffusers work more easily. I couldn't get air through my diffuser even with an air pump so I made my own with just the air tube and the tip of a chopstick shoved into the tube

    i hjad those bio reactor running for a long time. They are cheap and easy to build, but comes with some disadvantages:
    1. they dont give a constant amount of CO2 over their lifetime. Its too much in the beginning and after a few day its way too less
    2. u cant shut them down over night via a magnetic valve, the pressure will grow too high. shure you could let the CO2 flow into the room, but its smelly
    3. cleaning it up can be a mess
    4. its not producing enough pressure to run a regular diffusor wich leads to low pressure diffusor wich cant produse the fine bubbles you would need.
    5. Space. If you want to run them on a big tank you will need a very big Reactor. 5ltr minimum, if you want it to produce enough CO2.
    For Nano-tanks they are fine, if they dont overdose, since it will lead to your fish simply die away over night. I would recommend them for small plant-only tanks. But from my experience i can say, that it is more useful to spend the money on a regular CO2-system

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  Рік тому +2

      Hi. Those are some excellent comments! Agree with almost everything. I overall think that it's a good way to test what CO2 is about. Get some experience. And if it works for you - then you can invest some money into serious system. Just need to be careful to not harm any fish in the process.

      @@AquascapingCube i totally agree with the testing usage. I wasnt sure about CO2, then i set up a bio reactor and the results were amazing. Plants growing insanly and looking better than ever before. With that result i bought a professional system knowing it will be worth every cent.
