    Tried this tip this morning and it helped a TON! I always tried the "point to where you're going" method, and I felt like my leaning head and upper body made me prone to tipping over. With my open shoulders I was able to pump and glide through the wave face like a dream. A heap of thanks!

    Loved “...unless you can get half of your board above the lip” 😆 yeah, if you’re at that level, you can go “full John John” and even keep both your arms behind your back... until then - keep it outside your heel rail 😆

      Thanks for making these videos! Technical, based on physics of the process and without pseudo spiritual nonsense like "vision" and "compression/extension". I wish I found your channel when I was starting up. Please keep it up!! Good luck with everything!!

    Any tips on drills to prevent both arms coming over the inside rail on forehand? Looking at go pro footage my stance is awful which must be hampering my surfing!

    Great (as always😀). Not applicable for waveski of course😉, but shared it in the surfing group Belgium and Netherlands on FB. True, that comparison with snowboarding, I will remember NOT to do that when standing on a surfboard 🤙

      Thanks for sharing, I'm from Skegness on the east coast of England so I'm familiar with the North Sea surf that Belgium and the Netherlands get!

      @@SurfSimply hey Ru, thanks for your message man. Maybe you can help me out with a question on fin sizes, since you know the surf in the North Sea? I've been watching a surf Simply video with Harry today where he talks about fin sizes. I've been learning a lot about fins lately, but it's still so much info to process. I'm using 3,5inch now on my waveski, a thruster, all same size. But I wonder if that size is not too big. My weight is only 60kg, I'm only 175cm. I still have a lot to learn, but I would like to describe my style of surfing (or at least what I'm aiming to) as freestyle. I love to make figures, sharp, radical turns. And I definitely want to reach the level that I can make airs (again, still have a lot to learn) . But as you know, waves can have a good size here, but many times they have a lack of power.. Any suggestions on fin size? Thanks man, I'm a big fan since I discovered your whiteboard wednesdays 3 years ago and you're a big inspiration for the tutorials on my UA-cam channel✌️

    I'm sure you'd have to see to know for sure, but I keep finding when i do a backside top turn the board shoots out in front of me half the time. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong?

    • @SurfSimply
      @SurfSimply  4 роки тому

      Well it could be that there isn't enough weight on the inside rail and so you have no grip, kind of like being on edge on a snowboard, or slipping when flat. The other option is that perhaps you're stood too tall and we simply are losing balance from our heavy and high shoulders pulling us down. Or a combination of the too. Focus on either and come back to us with some data! Thanks for watching K Rule!

      Fun fact. That was actually a track which Ru made in his bedroom as a teenager by slowing down some old Aretha Franklin records and mixing them together in Cubase.
