I'm older myself and I can't Believe how many people have returned to music (all of my former band mates except one). What's grabbed my attention is all the little signs that a return to traditional music where bands play their own instruments and have a singer. Singing will never die.Rap has carved itself a permanent place in the music scene but its kind of where rock was in the 2000s basically they ran out of ideas a while back and there run through the entire evolution of the genre front to back , back to front, and sideways and there isn't anywhere else for them to go. I guess we will find out .

He's a very clear and very "musical law abiding" player, everything is spot on and doesn't deviate from the rules, when it's Pentatonics, everything is perfect pentatonics, unlike Mr.Govan who is a notorious "law breaker" always trying to play "wrong notes" outside the box.😅 Hahaha (pun intended)😉

One of the most killer live solos ever caught on video. It made a lot of guitarists want to either just put the guitar down or it motivated others, like myself, to practice more. But if you listen to Paul’s more recent playing with songs like “Blues For Rabbit”, he almost completely eschews his older style of what I have heard him call his “exercise playing” for much more dynamic playing. But that doesn’t mean his newer stuff is less jaw dropping. Quite the opposite! It just shows his vast knowledge of the fretboard and music in general. The even better news is, he can still bust out his older shred style at the drop of a hat!

It isn't just that Paul is blazing fast - or that he is technically perfect in scale and time - or that he is able to make his playing so alive , fun and engaging with his audience...all with a contagious smile on his face...it IS that he is SO CLEAN with absolutely NO slop or distortion to cover the slightest miscues ( because there aren't any ) !! The guy is just a STUNNINGLY amazing rock guitar player !!!

There's another vid of this same solo but he carries on after this ends but I can't find it anymore, it's like it's been banned.

I loved him in Racer X, tho I only bought their 1st album Street Lethal. It was as if I was a teenager in 1978 when the first VH album came out.

    PG taught my guitar teacher.
The things he, Vai etc did set up what Polyphia does now.

With UA-cam and the Internet these days I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a six-year-old that played this note for note. Lol. Love Paul Gilbert.
