Bob Dylan & Joan Baez - Never Let Me Go (Live at Madison Square Garden) [Rolling Thunder Revue]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- I've been on a Rolling Thunder Revue editing craze lately. Like my other two uploads, the audio of this video was recorded at Madison Square Gardens, New York, but the footage is from a different concert recorded in Montreal. To hear the Montreal version, watch my 45-minute compilation on Vimeo: vimeo.com/3764.... It has some incredible tracks and rare footage that I can't upload to UA-cam due to copyright reasons, unfortunately. But with a little editing magic, I managed to overdub a version of this track that wasn't copyrighted. I then stitched together various clips from the Netflix documentary and Renaldo and Clara. Hope you enjoy :)
This song was originally recorded by Johnny Ace, an incredibly talented pianist and singer who left too soon. Don't let him be forgotten: • Never Let Me Go . He also made famous a song called "Pledging My Love" -- Title sound familiar?
Love & Peace,
~SP
Great music, but who filmed this? His dentist?
Hahaha
lol
HAHA
😂 I'm happy though, that the dentist had his camera with him! 🥰
@Johanna akaJo Toothbrushes were out of fashion for him in those days, I heard. 😇
I believe they were True Soulmates. They may not have ended up as husband and wife, but their relationship I believe exceeds that of a romantic one. They are two geniuses.
Yes they were definitely soul mates :) and as we all know sometimes soul mates don't end up together, we leave that up to destiny and fate :)

I disagree. Friends yes. In love, no. His managers wanted him to be with her. He chose Sara and they raised 5 children together for many years. He made the right choice. A young couple with children. She was a stay at home mom and the available wife when he needed her most.
He truly loved Sara. Maybe research a bit about what those around then we're seeing and say. I've read some pretty good things with great info for my trivia corner of my brain. I believe if he'd chosen Joan, he would've ruined his life. Without her He became who he is today. Without him, she never got farther than she had hanging onto his talent. Joan has a beautiful voice, yes. But having lived during that time, I've never liked her as a person.
@@wendyanne5894 Perhaps. I love Dylan and he's written songs that will forever resonate my soul, but I think in his genius he is pretty darn narcistic and can't limit himself with "one woman/one love". No need to disrespect one woman over another.
Don't say that. You'll destroy it. Yknow
As Bob noted, his and her voice always sounded good together. I've seen this before, but it still gives me goosebumps and a big smile.
💗
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you!! 😊
I love these two together, their voices complement each other. I also love when at 1:27, Bob gets really close to Joan, fiddling around, and makes her smile (subtly)
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you!! 😊
He (lovingly) nudges her with his nose I think.
I think, they never stopped loving each other!
God those two loved singing agonizingly close to each other.
I once read that Sara Dylan thought the two would kiss on stage right in front of her
@Johanna akaJo SHE GAD A NAME AND IT WAS CLARA
Well they used to F#$% just saying...
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
@@bonscottrocks1728 other than you making the insinuation nasty, yes they were together at one time
can't believe more folks dont know this one, so beautiful
... No it isn't
You can see how much they love each other. It's so clear. Yes, they didn't stay together, but some of the deepest loves are between those who are separated by distance and circumstances.
Love the closeness when they sing together

Man how did I miss seeing the Rolling Thunder Revue - this is just so charged ... you can see the tension and sparks of a fading love ....
Just let me love you tonight
Forget about tomorrow
My darlin' let me hold you tight
And never let me go.
Dry your eyes
No tears and no sorrow
Cling to me with all your might
And never let me go.
A million times or more dear
You said we'd never part
But lately I find
A stranger in my arms.
Give me the right
In summer or in spring-time
To tell the world that you are mine
And never let me go.
This is their greatest collaboration ever and I've heard all of them. They are so in sync, each voice complimenting the other.
the quality of the content on this channel is just amazing

Great song
Their voices and closeness is amazing
I love how confused and irritated Bob looks when Baez is dressed up like him and lights a cigarette. So funny. Great performance, too. Thanks for sharing, as always.
That is not Joan Baez but Ronee Blakley.
@Alias Alias That is absolutely Joan Baez ❤️🔥❤️
@Alias Alias Nope. That’s Joan. Bob is my heart and Joan is my soul sista. ❤️🔥❤️
Joan repeatedly made herself up to look exactly like Bob on that tour...same clothes, same whiteface, the whole deal. And they did many duets together. Ronne Blakely was on that same tour...she had the dark hair about the same length as Joan at the time, and she would have looked very similar to Joan if done up with the "Dylan" clothing and whiteface...but that is Joan, not Ronee Blakely, as far as I know. I'm not aware that Ronee ever did herself up in the "Dylan" costume. If she did....well, then you could be right. Let's see if we can find a reference from someone who was there.
@@marynelson3067 I was confused by the different look of her month caused by the make-up. It is Joan you are right.
What can I say?The two of my most favourite artists are singing along, too good to be true
Look at that instant death stare deep into her eyes at 2:02 when they sing “you are mine”
Bob really was in a good live shape on that tour. The Rolling thunder revue of the Booklet serie is so far my favourite, and only one (yet) that i have on vinyl
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you!! 😊
I think Bob is on top form on Bootleg series Vol 5 Rolling Thunder Revue, better than Vol 4 Live at the Albert Hall. I think it's probably my favourite, he's amazing, I love the acoustic numbers on that aswell, like Mr Tambourine Man, Simple twist of fate, Love Minus Zero/No Limit and It's all over now, baby blue. Pure class. I love his run of albums in the '70s starting with Planet Waves, Blood on the tracks, Desire and Street Legal. There's some of his best writing on those albums I would say. They easily compare with his '60s electric trilogy, in my opinion.
When you put two greats together you get food for the gods and pure bliss for the rest of us.
Well said! 💞
They harmonized so well together!

Check out Bob being cheeky @ 01:27 LOL! Bob moves in really close like
he is going to kiss her but then bares his teeth and she gives a little smile!
Just so sweet!
there is definitely a bond there

I struggle to find a better song performed anywhere, anytime, more tenderly and heartfelt than this, simply incredible
Never saw this ...when they do harmony..it blows my mind.
Thank you, SP!!! I love the duets with Joan and Bob!!!!💖💖💖💖
YEAH BOB AND JOAN YOU WERE SO CUTE TOGETHER
I've loved Bob's lyrics since the 70's, he's an amazing writer and the music is awesome too
He didn’t write this. Johnny Ace did
Actually it was Joseph Scott
i always knew bob loved Joan there was that certain chemistry between them , i have listened to bob and Joan for as long as i can remember actually since the mid to early 60s and i still love their music , when i am down with my illnesses i put on my head phones and drift away there is nothing better ,my wife know at my funeral it will be bob Dylan knocking on heaven's door
Pray it’s far away, and let’s hope you have many more days to listen to Dylan’s music.
@@Xenonic2 I really hope so to
Right on SP! Absolutely made my day! Really good to see this clip!

Well I have to say that I can't appreciate their "relationship" as it tore his marriage to pieces. I will always love Dylan and his music but even he admits he was an asshole in the way he disrespected his wife and family. (If you want out of the relationship get out of the relationship before you start another one)
So close at that time and now so far away from each other ! Joan said she had no news from Bob since more than 30 years ! But he had very nice words to her in the 2015 speech at musicare and in recent interviews😊!
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you!! 😊
She saw him in 2010 at a function but refused to go speak to him. She said she wasn’t quite ready to put everything behind her
Raw but beautiful...
And, from what I gather, Dylan just wasn't " in love" with Baez. Different than just loving someone. This is my own conclusion based on her thinly-veiled comments about the nature of their relationship that seemed to always be laced with hurt, anger, sarcasm and fear. She invested a lot of herself in him at the time. Personally I like these two talents better when they perform separately much more.
ディランの相変わらずの乱暴な唄とジョーンのフォローに・・この2人は魂の底で繋がっていて、何処にいようが何していようが・・絶対何度でも出会うでせぅ・・( ゚Å゚;)
Your uploads are always a cut above the rest. Thanks for sharing this.
thank you, glad you’re enjoying what I have to offer :)
@Johanna akaJo Yeah! I’m 21, to be exact. Everyone has their passion. Just so happens that mine comes along with friends and supporters like you. Thank you ✌️
Yeah man! Dylan and Baez...to me (and i love'm each and every one) better than Phil and Don, John and Paul, Mick and Keith, Gram and Emmy...heck on and on...yes they were probly true soul mates but wish'd i coulda been able to see'm back in '63&'64 on those 1st New England jaunts...oh! man what shows those musta been and hey they're both 81 yrs young now and still doin' it Thank You Bob and Joan and thank you JESUS!!!
Great great great content! Thank you so much for this gift
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
He's teasing her so much ! Lovely video.
Just such a sweet song. If ever a woman was trying too hard to sing herself into a man’s bed, it’s Joanie here. He knew he wasn’t the one for her. She eventually got it that he wasn’t the one for her. Took the penny a long time to drop. And then there was all that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned singin n songwriting period. Love and life are indeed, as are people, strange. Ref there to the sexier Mr Morrison. Jim. Sorry Van.
Brought back here .. This is so gorgeous .. Their harmony is just so great great great .. every note is implanted in my brain .. thank you .. Janey
I like how Joan sings rougher; more like Dylan in the duets from this period
JUST LOVE ME BOB LOVE IS SO SIMPLE
maybe to coin a phrase?
Grand song performed strongly by the 2 Great ones AMONG us🌺❤️Thanks SP👌🌹Thanks Joan, Dylan🌺❤️🌹🌷🌞👌LYRICS:
NEVER LET ME GO. Johnny Ace.
Just let me love you tonight.
Forget about tomorrow.
My darling, won't you hold me tight,
And never let me go.
Dry your eyes, no tears, no sorrow.
Cling to me with all your might,
And never let me go.
A million times or more we said we'd never part.
But lately I find you're a stranger in my heart.
Give me the right, in summer or in springtime,
To tell the world that you are mine.
And never let me go, no, and never let me go

史上最高のデュエット
Never heard this before! Where’s this tune from?
Check the description :) it explains a few things
Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions.
I love this sort of dynamic where two people love each other but they don't like, take it to an official relationship, cuz obviously they were in a relationship for a short while, they obviously like each other in that way, and yet after breaking up or off or whatever the right word is, still stay such close friends, it creates this beautiful dynamic where they can't or simply wont make a move but will have a sweetness for one another, you don't see that a lot. Think thats why i love the dynamic of Vincent and Mia in Pulp Fiction, because its the same thing, they are both sweet on one another but they can't actually be in a relationship, so it creates this cute sort of partnership where they help eachother and, idk, its hard to explain, but very charming basically. There isn't a clear admittance of love but you can clearly see it between the two.
I wish in 1961 I knew who Dylan was instead of being 16 married to a 20 year old abuser. But thank God I am divorced and discovered Dylan during pandemic. Therefore, I can experience thru Dylan the years I missed in history and a genius.
I saw the on stage together in 1965. It was a JB concert BD was unannounced and joined her maybe halfway. They were positively electric together, just amazing, and that spread to the audience!
I think you missed your nose Bob

An amazing performance by Bob and Joan, 1964 Revisited. They should have put that on Bootleg series Vol 5 Rolling Thunder Revue, it's brilliant.

“Night of the Hurricane” at Madison Square Garden was one of the four concerts that I had seen on the tour that year. I always had a special place in my heart for this song that conjured up so many romantic images of Joni and Bob from 10+ years earlier. The rest of the show was equally fantastic including a mesmerizing performance of “Hattie Caroll” and Tonight, I’ll Be Staying Here With You” along with “Isis” and “It Takes A Lot To Laugh and A Train to Cry” with Robbie Robertson who busted a string during a searing solo and yet managed to not miss a beat. Also a shout out to the often ignored Rob Stoner who was part of the opening segment of the show performing the unknown Dylan song at the time “Catfish” about the legendary pitcher Catfish Hunter”.
Un duo musical vraiment très attachant...ils étaient faits pour chanter ensemble..❤❤

Bizarre video photography with the zoomed view of his teeth. But a one of kind duet with Joan showing amazing energy between them. Those of you lucky enough to have been there in person could just focus on the performance, not being a few feet from their faces. The few times that Bob performed other songwriters compositions, he always chose gems.

how come this song is not on spotify?
Is this in any records?
Joan’s voice is a National Treasure but she was out of her league in terms of being able to just let loose and be an artist and performer. Per her own admission she was most dismayed that she was never able to redirect Bob Dylan into becoming more of an activist which is really what she identifies as most. This was a great duet and wonderful exchange between them which I hope they both deeply enjoyed. It pretty much, however, was the culmination and parting of their ways
