@@stargazer6753 , lots of stellar lap steel and bottleneck slide players around these days: Cindy Cashdollar; Junior Brown; Meghan Lovell of Larkin Poe, showing strong Lindley influences; Robert Randolph (pedal steel maniac!)....and for bottleneck style there's Ry Cooder, Sonny Landreth, Dave Hole, and John Mooney..... Recently I've been listening on You Tube to a guy named Dan Dubuque in Montana, playing incredible *amplified* Weissenborn lap steel outside (in a snowbank, by a river) and doing instrumental covers of Nirvana, Tool and Rage Against the Machine, with effects and distortion. A *HUGE* sound, yet incredibly precise playing. Check it out, it'll blow your mind!.
I love it when Linley starts to rip
Amazing footage of Jim Gordon
I just wish there had been more!
Wrote this in the apartment below Glenn Frey and Henley's apartment , the heard it being born … Per The Eagles documentary … Amazing ...
JRA dawg I LOVE that Eagles Documentary! I got Netflix for that reason alone. I never knew how close they were. And that Jackson Browne wrote all but the second verse of “Take It Easy”
Said Jackson worked on the song so relentlessly it drove them crazy.😂
WOW..thanks for the memory & post.. wish I lived in that apartment.
It was Frey and Souther that had the apartment above Jackson
There goes the tea kettle...
"The late unpleasantness in S E Asia". Well done Sir.
In those days(Mid - 1970s) you could buy T - shirts that said "SE Asia War Games 1965 - 1975, 2nd Place" with a map. Different times; like the saying goes, "The Past is like a foreign country; they do things differently there."
You can , slide, that kinda music my way anyday. 🤟
The GREAT Jim Gordon!!! May God rest his soul. I sincerely hope he iZ at peace now 🥁
Wow! I didn't know Jim had died until I read your post just now Jim was my favorite drummer and created so much wonderful music with Stevie Winwood Jackson Browne Steely Dan obviously Derek and the Dominos etc etc etc I share your hope that he may finally rest in peace
@@edd7812 Hello there, Ed. I'm sorry to be the one that you found out from. I've been playing for yearZ, and always knew who he waZ, but never really started listening to him until about two years ago. Since, his playing haZ had an incredible impact on my own. CatZ like Peart, Portnoy, Carey, Copeland...they're the ones that influenced my playing when I waZ younger...now, catZ like Mr Gordon, Roger Taylor (DuranDuran), Phil Ehart, Andy Newmark are the major influences aZ an older drummer and individual. But I've been listening to a TON of Jim Gordon'Z recordings over the past two days 🥁
@@brianjezuit4085 Very nice choices!!! Here is Jim with Traffic on Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys... remarkable creativity...

@@brianjezuit4085 I'm pretty sure that's Jim on that one although somebody says that's a different mix or take or maybe Capaldi the original member of traffic on drums, I don't think it is, I think that is Jim but to be sure I know this one is!

Awesome live version!The piano,the slide guitar,the vocals,the energy...just a fantastic performance.
Wow Beautiful ,,,Dr my Eyes ,,, Jackson Browne
Love this song ,,,or Lawyers in Love ,,,,thanks for liking my comment ,,,,,
It's not to late give your heart to Jesus,Christ! I like this song!
Not sure where this was filmed, but I attended one of the stops on this tour. What a band. What a song. What an artist!
Is this the price?
For having learned how not to cry?
I'd heard this song a bunch of times without thinking anything of it until one day I finally heard those words loud & clear. That hit me hard.
Sounds strange but dont think many would think at the end their life I wish I had cried more in my life. When things were tough I wish I had just let the sorrow out instead of holding back the flood of emotions at the time something awful was going on. Still feel that if I let the tears come they may never stop. We missed the sky for trying to stay strong. Peace to you.
Awesome, ain't it?
@@shellytarbet3677 , Jackson once sang " Here come those tears again/ just as I thought I was getting over you....."
100% timeless.
His backing band then was about the best ever. What can you say about David Lindley?
What I can say about David Lindley is that he was so gorgeous back then... mmmm 😘❤😍😋
He's great at slide and looked like Paul Kossoff .
The previous band with "The Section" (Kunkel-Sklar-Doerge-Kortchmar) and Lindley backing him was right in there with this group. Jackson always has great bands. The current band with Greg Leisz on steel is exceptional, but there's only one Lindley!
@@qazzell , Lindley looks more like Ben Franklin these days, but he sure can play! Hoping he tours in 2021 or when it's safe to do so.
@@bobsteingraber , I've been watching Lee Sklar on UA-cam almost daily, as he reminisces about working with Jackson, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor and so on. Everybody keeps asking for Lindley stories! I hope Lee will share some anecdotes.....
One of the best jams EVER!
No one like David Lindley......ever! RIP sir!
David Lindley takes the lap-steel guitar away from Hawaii and plants it firmly in the fertile ground of rock'n'roll!
IF ONLY THERE EXISTED ON THIS PLANET A " LOVE DOCTOR"< TO ASSIST IN RESTORING MY LONG BROKEN YET OPEN TO MORE SUFFERING(FROM PRIOR EXPERIENCE)< TO EMBARK ON ONE LAST LASTING LOVE AFFAIR> WELL I SURELY WILL "KEEP DREAMING< THOUGH " RUNNING ON EMPTY")
I've seen an interview with Jackson talking about the original recording of this song.He was a big fan of guitar legend Jesse Ed Davis ,and asked him to play on another song.Jesse said he wasn't feeling that song, did he have another. So Jackson suggested this one,and asked Jesse if he wanted to rehearse it.Jesse said no,roll tape.He did an amazing solo in one take, put his guitar back in the case and left.
Jackson was part of my wild years in Melbourne Australia.
Jesse Ed Davis say his name, love his solo ❤❤❤
David lindley one of the best steel players in the world . he gave J B a great sound .RIP david
I was the most squared away Marine in the Corps so naturally my place off base was party center. All the philosophers and heads gathered there to get stoned and listen to Dr My Eyes and Redneck Friend. That old eight track ate a lot of goodstuff including Jackson Browne
Saw him live in a dress white t shirt squeaky clean in music and performance, L. A. small park Amphitheater, afternoon show with The Mommas and The Pappas , great day 1977 or so,,
Wow, I was expecting Jessy Ed to do the original solo. But this one is nice too. Lindley is just masterful!
I was a kid of the 70s, but unfortunately never got to go to rock concerts (parents). Missed out on the heavyweights.
The music… then… the best. Jackson Browne loved you then and now❤
What a tight band and that killer lap steel Rip Mr Dave
David Lindley. Wow!!!
