Judge Luttig should be Chief Justice now, no leadership on the Court today.
He should, he may be a conservative however, he holds the constitution above that of affiliations, unlike Roberts and the partisans on the bench.

Never thought I would say that I love a conservative Federalist Society Judge, but I love this one. Judge Luttig is insightful, thoughtful, truthful to his legal beliefs, and honest in expressing them, without favor. He seems to have the knowledge and integrity that was lacking in the SCOTUS ruling. Even if I were on the other side of an issue, I would trust his legal opinion being made in an unbiased manner, based on facts, and I'm good with that. He is very measured in his remarks even when disagreeing with something, merely stating where he finds faults and why. I thoroughly enjoy hearing from him on these important topics and so glad you have interviews with him and not just short sound bites. Once again as a Progressive, I completely agree with Conservative Judge Luttig.
@CaliforniaBushman - The man knows the law and the Constitution. He stood against tfg, and his former clerk John Eastman, in the 2020 election. He wrote that Trump and his allies "instigated" a war on democracy "so that he could cling to power." He continued, "It is breathtaking that these arguments even were conceived, let alone entertained by the President of the United States at that perilous moment in history". He's conservative, but his legal outlook is finely honed.
If only Judge Luttig had been elected to the Supreme Court, we might have more respect for it.

People are talking about it. It is a cause for some hope. Decisions that aid Trump risk making the court irrelevant if he ever steps into the Oval Office again. I have been noticing that no one is talking about what happens to court systems under a dictatorship. Remember : Trump has asserted he will be a dictator on his first day as president. So what kind of common sense has been used by our current Supreme Court? It looks like zero common sense was used unless they all just decided to pass the buck on this highly important issue for the future of our democracy.
Question: Can the Solicitor General review and reverse the Supreme Court decision? It seems to me that SCOTUS does not have the authority to change/reverse anything in the Constitution. I thought only Congress has the power to do this by putting forth an Amendment to the Constitution.
When I was new to law school and I did my first internship, I was told that judges almost always decide which party they want to win, and they then draft their opinion to comport with that choice. It is unquestionably clear that this is what the S. Ct. did in this case. They have lost all neutrality and have struck a horrendous blow against our Constitution. It is appalling. In my mind, this Court has lost all legitimacy.
Just like the rest of us, Judge Luttig KNOWS that this court is corrupt. Something must be done about the composition of the court, so the corrupt ones can be removed.

I think this ruling has created a total undermining of any respect of the Court and is a stain on the US judiciary. The justices need to only interpret the Constitution as it was written - not rewrite it. What an abysmal occurrence.

I can only repeat, the 14th Amendment says he can't HOLD office. It does NOT say he can't run. The court didn't decide, if he can get sworn into office, if he wins the vote. In my opinion, the Supreme Court only decided if states can remove someone from the ballot, so you don't have individual states remove insurrectionists, while others do not. The 14th Amendment still applies and Trump CAN NOT HOLD office, win or lose in the election. This is an even better outcome in my opinion because in a situation like the Civil War you may have an insurrectionist make it onto enough ballots to still win the election.

Since there’s no other entity that is above the Supreme Court to reverse their decisions of course they will stand. Congress could change the wording of the 14th amendment, section 3 to make it more forceful in what it is intended to accomplish, but the Republicans would never go along with that. We need to expand the court to 13 justices because there’s 13 judicial districts. Some of the justices have 2 districts to oversee and others have one. President Biden needs to appoint four more justices! The Republicans will fight that but they will lose. The court will be made more equitable and America will have justice.

They didn’t pass the buck. They nullified an article of the Constitution. It won’t be the last one they nullify, mark my words. They are the very definition of an activist court. If we overwhelm the vote up and down the ballot and go blue, we will correct this decision with a new SCOTUS. There will be 13 justices within the first session of Congress.
