    It's completely pointless to complain about the price and fuel consumption, if you can afford the S63 you don't care about how much fuel it uses or the cost

      Tippy35075 So true. If you have the money you would buy a big ass engine for a big ass horse power. I don’t get why they subjectively review high end cars and applying it to their real world scenario 🤣

    • @3204clivesinclair
      @3204clivesinclair 5 років тому

      It’s often not about the cost of fuel, but the range that a low MPG car brings. Many luxury big engined sedans or GT cars have ranges as low as 200 miles or so - if driven ‘enthusiastically’. In some Countries that can be a problem with fewer fuel stations. Plus you have to stop a lot more.

    A relaxing driver's car, a great vacation cruiser, a comfortable passenger's space....and the ability to smoke virtually every car in production today. For what it is, especially if you go light on the options, it's worth it.

    When showing the engine all I saw was a plastic box. Furthermore, now the speakers can mechanically break with their rotational operation (speakers that have rotational movement, people). Now I'm almost sure that isn't going to break (Audi offers this feature in their A8. Neighbor went crazy went he got the repair bill for that function). No physical instrumentation, electrical capacitive buttons, an electrical/mechanical/pnuematic suspension... hmmmm I'm surprised the leather doesn't have some type of electro/chemical features that change the leather's color(s). All I can say, if someone were going to purchase this car, you're an idiot if you don't get the extended warranty. However, that creates irony. Why? Because if you keep this car beyond 4 years, even if it doesn't break, it will depreciate faster than the speed of light... well, sort of.
    There is no denying the engine and transmission for this car are beyond incredible, and the reason why I respect AMG so much. Furthermore, Mercedes is beginning to make very beautiful proportioned and elegant styling again. Everything else is just a tick tock away of breaking. I would rather have a Lexus LS. Yes, it may not be as fast but it doesn't have gadgetry and you know even if you bought a 10 year old LS, if kept up, it would run like no other.
    Oh, Craig Cole, I always enjoy your reviews. Please keep the nerdiness and those catch phrases up. Don't know what "monronie" means at 6:23 but hey, it's Craig Cole, that's what he does, an intellectual jokester.

      ErwinSchrodinger64 while the Lexus LS, or any Lexus for that matter, is typically more reliable than any German competitor in each class, they're behind in almost every category. Why are they so reliable? Well, they're never mass producing cars with groundbreaking technology. They're very simple when it comes to powertrains and technological features as you pointed out. What should be recognized is manufacturers like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Porsche are able to go through research and development to make these cars more reliable than they have any right to be and produce cars with technological advances that by far surpass anything else. I'm not hating on Lexus, as a car enthusiast I do appreciate them, but there's a reason they aren't the luxury sales leaders.

    • @ErwinSchrodinger64
      @ErwinSchrodinger64 6 років тому +5

      Tyler Hampton, Lexus's primary mission is to produce reliable luxury cars. New technology is not ground breaking, it's a novelty. Furthermore, with the exception of Porsche, Mercedes Benz and BMW ground breaking technology, is shit. What good is technology when it breaks? Just recently with the E92, BMW's VANOS systems had high failure rates. Honda, on the other hand, has a variable valve timing with practically no failures within the market. When Lexus does employ new technology it is methodically tested for reliability. Reliability takes time to ensure proper long term design. Thus, the reason why Lexus maintain their value and MB and BMW, plummet in value (with the exception of a few M series that are still maintenance hell). Currently, Lexus does have the most powerful twin turbo V6 in the market and it's highly reliable. Historically, Lexus/Toyota and Honda have proven they can compete with anything from the Germans. While BMW's V-10 (the S85) was a wonderful engine, the Lexus V-10 (1LR-GUE) was a far more superior engine in design, power displacement, engineering, and just about everything else. Lets not forget Lexus has stolen market shares from both MB and BMW. Currently, Lexus is building a twin turbo V8 that will compete with anything BMW or MB has to offer with one major metric that BMW and MB can't compete against: reliability. Reliability is a measurement of how well a device can be engineered to withstand stress. It's been over 20 years since Toyota made 2JZ inline-6. BMW has yet to surpass an engine of it's equal in terms of power production and reliability. Not even the current M3 & M4 can make an inline-6 as powerful and reliable as the Toyota/Lexus infamous 2JZ. Now Porsche, on the other hand. I have the deepest respects for their automobiles. Note, Porsche doesn't go for the gimmicky features like BMW and MB. While Porsche maintenance isn't the cheapest, it's understandable, in the sense that it's basic maintenance that is a lot more complex.

      Who told automobile manufacturers that it was OK to cover up and engine with plastic? If you're a true car person, thats the worst thing you can do. Thats like taking a beauty competition queen and parading her dressed as a Nun (no disrespect to Nuns). We want to see the cam covers and engine fellows.

    • @imty8774
      @imty8774 6 років тому

      Germans really do make sure their cars break withinh 4 years. That's how they keep the cash flowinh. Not that they can't make reliable cars, it's just greed getting the better of them. But what do I know, I'm not an engineer.

    • @eventusvantos2770
      @eventusvantos2770 6 років тому +6

      ErwinSchrodinger64 its not plastic. Its carbon fiber. And lots of cars have covers like that. Even Lexus does yet we font see you complaining there dipshit.
      The speakers won't break. They are designed to last. This car won't depcriate as fast as you are claiming. You are exaggerating it big time. Just look at the previous s class that came out four years ago in 2014. To this day it has held its value very well. So quit talking out of your ass. Also for people who biy this anyway they are so rich that even the amount lost on it is absolutely chump change to them.
      Yes LS does have gadetry. Almost every modern car does. The mousepad infotainment system is gadgets that can break down. You have shut the hell up and be realistic. Just because there is a gadget doesn't mean it will break down. By your logic then don't use a cellphone or a computer because murrdurr it will break down. All cars are filled with gadgetry and computers and electronics. They are designed to last.
      The s class is light yearyears ahead of the LS in technology, performance, way better exhaust note, way more comfortable, way more luxuriois, way more features and luxurious amenties, way more fun to drive, much better drivers car, I could go on and on.. And all of this more than makes up for not being as reliable as the lexus. When you pay this much for a car you aren't looking for ultimate reliablility. Otherwise by your own logic you shouldn't be getting the LS. Get a toyota Avalon instead. Watch cheaper and way more reliable than the Lexus ever could be.

    You'd think that a car Company doesn't know what feels good in a car. Turbo! Once you've driven a turbo car you won't want to drive anything else. When you have anything over 250 HP, the car behaves better with 4WD; plants the power better and safer on all kings of roads, especially water and snow. It makes you wonder why this car was not always a turbo with 4WD or AWD, which ever you prefer to call it.

    To be honest. Its fast and more powerful than my 2020 Charger 392 Scatpack but gets about the same MPG......if not better actually. Considering trading up to one of these but not sure if I want to get the pre face lifted one or this version. Difference in used price betweem the 2014-2017 vs the 2018-2020 S63s is about $25k here in the USA.

      I agree with the front bumper, but S Class makes the most lavish interior in it's class. Audi using screens instead of physical buttons will be a nightmare to operate while driving (I have a C7 A6 which is great). The Panamera is VERY close.

      Tony Bland the new A8 has a futuristic design with those screens and no buttons. The Panamera has also futuristic look but has great overall look with leather wood and metal while the others seem to depend on the just the tech to wow factor.
