"I am actually a bit angry." I could tell by the way you were hooning around the corners ;) Cheers from Pittsburgh, keep showing the world what we're missing out on!
yeah... indeed, imagine if they do 6.2 with the new gearbox and same turbo performance as for 4.0, that would be awesome. Also I think this is going that direction. Merc did some buffer for further sells (downsizing), they will come back to bigger engine. Just not yet :(
Congratulations on this very interesting and professional compilation, we have a clear sense of the difference between both versions! I personally vote for the latest version ...
Design wise; outside: new, inside: old (with huuugee distance, I totally agree with the leather). Engine wise: The new 4L is most likely the most efficient and strong default V8 available. Although I like the calmness of the old one. Too loud noises in an S-Class (Coupé) would be a no brainer.
All in - The old one for me. Which I will hunt for in 3 months time. Smooth , quiet and interior. Crackles I can live without. Noise is not my thing. Just looking for an armchair linked to a V8 for long distances and a daily.
I prefer the new one, even the black and white theme. The steering wheel looks much better than the old one and of course the exhaust makes a difference there ^^
The actual thing that I don't see many talk about is the engine size on these things. You got to love the 2018 better. Although the more refined look is a bit more eye catching, the 5.5L AMG sounds way better that the 4.0. That is a big downgrade on the engine size. Too bad they replaced the awesome 5.5 AMG which was way more mean and better sounding.
The 4L actually sounds better. It’s just that they had a rev limiter at idle for the new car so it only revs to 4000. The old one doesn’t have limited at idle. When driving, the 4.0 sounds noticeably better in person.
@@S70AMG well, its subjective. I have both the 5.5 and 4.0. 5.5 in my 2015 SL63 and 4.0 in 2019 GT63s. Having had both cars for quite a long time I doubt I would be delusional about them and I have no particular preference between those two cars. Tho it’s not a direct apple to apples comparison i.e. in the same model, but the 4.0 to me sounds significantly better. It’s louder and crisper, both on the inside and outside, especially when the car is moving. Plus the 4.0 is just overall a much better engine. The turbo lag is noticeably smaller and much more rev happy. Plus I have sat in many of the 5.5 models like s63, g63 and 4.0 models like the c63, gts, gtr, pretty sure the 4.0 sounds better in all cases.
@@haotianxie6684 not a chance. You are either trolling or delusional. No amount of vomit inducing pops and bangs will make the 4.0 sound good. It will always sound like a straight piped diesel golf. Loud and annoying. I had my 2018 e63s straight piped with equal length headers and still sounded like a fartcan. Loud but a fartcan. The 5.5 sounds rather raw and deep and you can literally feel it shaking your insides, the 4.7 from the s550 has a nice deeper tone too. In conclusion 4.0 is garbage
@@S70AMG straight pipe doesn’t make a car sound better, just louder and tbh ruins the exhaust. Have had my GT with dme’s straight pipe it literally sounds worse than stock, just obnoxiously loud. Had switched back to stock with an midfield fi’s x pipe. Regarding the equal length headers, yes those do improve the exhaust sound, but did you make sure the straight pipe is equal length as well to create equal exiting pulses and scavenging? If not so they might’ve not actually helped. Plus where did you get equal length header for w213, can’t seem to find one online.
Ceramic brakes don't add additional performance... Its the calipers that matter, ceramics are just longer lasting and better heat dissipation for repeated use
The older versions of both of the current S coupe and saloon look way better imo. I guess it's because they were forced to "facelift" something that didn't need it.
Exactly. I want the old grille with total chrome delete... a look like the autovlog guy's C63 AMG, but in an S class coupe. The new grille is ugly as hell.
I actually like the old LED Tail lights on the older car better because it look more classy, luxury and expensive then the new one and I like the old front grille better as well. His reaction when he find out the new one top end speed is limited, IMAO................... hahahaha. And I can't wait until I make enough money to buy a slightly use 2017 MB AMG S63 Coupe like the same black one in this video : ) Thank you for sharing the video and keep it up : )
New one looked more bouncy thru the camera, sharper shifts, louder, but did not seem much faster then previous gen, I own a 17 s63 coupe, love it!!!! Almost as much as my rs7, bad ass machines.
Ok I have a 2018 E400 coupe’ and I want a S63 coupe’ so bad I can taste it! However the technology package is better in the newer version but the car to buy is the older one for overall performance
So basically, save some money and buy a year old, slightly used top spec S63, rather than a new bottom spec S63. Because the new one, at least the one you got is the floor spec, someone literally just came into a dealership and said "Yeah, just give me whatever S63 you have!". The old one was actually a pretty cool custom spec, you can see someone who loves cars did that. I love it. A lot of the important details were better on the old one, I like the old grill better, the swarowski headlights (even though they are pure showoff material), and the steering wheel. The new one has better tail lights (which can probably be retrofitted on the old one), sounds better (can be fixed with an exhaust on the old one, but who wants a deafening S class... I'd want silence inside) and better screens, which is the only point I give to the new one, but one I can live without.
Dominic0403 same here. Save some money, retrofit the taillights if you want, seems unnecessary to me. Only points I will give the new one is the better screens.
