man I love this band. Eclipse was so sick, also if you haven't checked it out you should listen to Captors, way more "metalcore" than their more recent stuff. reminds me a bit of Phinehas!

This song has been on repeat for me lol. What I loved, and I've been listening and seeing these guys live since Heralds, is that you can hear the production quality this song has, that the other albums didn't quite have. The addition of Joey on guitar is a huge boost to them and this song rips! And what's better is these dudes are about the nicest guys you'll ever meet in the metal scene. They love their fans, and I've had a 30min convo with Steve (clean vocals) after a show and it was a blast, amazing dudes willing to talk about life, music, and anything else!

They also released a track called Stop the Bleeding which is amazing! Also Wolves At The Gate is probably one of my favorite bands and I personally liked the track though thats just my opinion.

Not sure if you've ever heard of vildhjarta before, but their first album Måsstaden from 10 years ago is a hall of fame classic, and then their follow up album which was released recently after a long wait, Måsstaden Under Vatten, are stuff you should react to.

Types & Shadows and VxV are their best albums, for me. It is soooo good. Then Eclipse came out and for some reason it didnt stuck on me.

Were you as disappointed as I was that WATG couldn't get into Canada for the show with Memphis May Fire at the Velvet Underground? I didn't find out until I was in line... I was crushed...

WATG have some of the best vocals and vocal contrast in the game, but I agree with many others that this is quite generic for them (a la Wage War). I prefer their older work
The song isn’t bad when you’re in the mood for some solid vocal-oriented post hardcore instead of metal, but they certainly have better more interesting songs. They used to sound like a heavier Thrice rather than a heavier Caskets. They used to sound much less generic, so you’re review is fair.
I got more As I Lay Dying meets Phinehas vibes.

To be completely honest, this is probably their most generic track. If you wanted to listen to some of their other stuff I'd recommend checking out some tracks from their album Types and Shadows. I think the song Anathema is a pretty great place to start.
Types & Shadows is peak WATG. More interesting structure and mood than their recent work. I still jam that album to this day but Eclipse not as much.

Dang, I gave it a 9/10 but it is mostly vocal driven. Although, the lead riff and breakdown hit hard.
That chorus, except for the last one, is sung by the screamer.

I am a poet, but bands and musical artists are bigger inspirations to me than most actual poets. Julien Baker and Wolves at the Gate are my top two inspirations.
I want to like wolves at the gate so much. Their earlier stuff made me cry. I cried when I sang it live but then yes this newer stuff felt very the same.
I agree, it's a pretty good track but in context of where the scene is today and all the other amazing more unique bands this does land on the more generic side and imo does not do it strong enough to stand out or make me want to listen again as a new listener. Nothing against the band but it depends on the mood maybe I can see myself enjoying it on occasion but definitely more generic.
I think this song was pretty lit and probably their best song so far. Caskets don’t even have any screams so it’s a weird comparison.
If you feel like you've heard the song before from them that's because you have... Most modern metal core stemmed from the 2000's Christian metal era. Tooth n nail, and solidstate we're at the forefront of metal core and wolves at the gate have been around for 14 years. Christian bands never get there due credit and are always looked at as second rate copy cat artists.
They've consistently put out good music for years. Not only heavy but thought provoking as well. Like the bird and the 🐍, the father's bargain.
When you're a Christian band you have to deal with bands telling the promoter they don't wanna tour with you. Ryan Kirby and Steve cobucci have both talked about this.

It is a tad generic instrumental and are arrangement wise. Their VxV album was my favorite and was much more diverse
Personally I feel like this was lazy writing. And I love this band…we’ve opened for them before. But yeah…just seems like they went through the motions.

The vocals of WATG have always been phenomenal but this song really lacks something. I’m a huge fan of their work but this sounds so generic.
I still love it conpared to what most genericore bands are capable of. Looking at most djent bands.
