- Hi Guys welcome back . Todays project is on the Mazda CX 5 2013. Despite this is nearly a 10 years old car. Now is the Time to look at to refresh some of the suspension components. We are going to be upgrading / replacing the worn out OE Rubber Lower Control Arm (Large section) Bushing to Polyurethane and here in Indonesia theres a brand from #PROTOFLEX ID that can supply these specialty suspensions products. Over the years Some of you owners might experience abnormal noise when go over speed bumps these might be worth to look at as these Gen 1 and 2 Mazda skyactiv are very common to have these issues.
Part number Mazda CX 5 Protoflex Front LCA bushing (rear large bushing) : MC - 23F024
What to expect after upgrading these Polyurethane bushing :
- The car feels like new again
- Better traction
- Sportier feel improved in steering response
- Better grips under hard cornering
- Wheel hop reduced under hard acceleration
Increase in NVH (noise vibration harshness) level due to harder polyurethane material

@FelixDanGarasiAuto Will do! Failed to get the rusted bolt out over the weekend. Going to try again with a friend's help soon. Hoping don't have to take a torch to it. I also went ahead and ordered some new OE bolts and nuts for the lower control arm to replace the rusted out ones.

A lot of places did not replace the bushing; they just wanted to replace the whole control arms which cost $1000 dollars in Canada.
yeah true that very common. have to find a special reputable shops. 👍🏼
Rockauto sell LCA for under $200
If you’re comfortable doing your own work (fairly easy & straightforward job) on Rock Auto for $260 I got LC Arm, Inner Tie Rod, Sway Bar for both sides.
Decent good deal saving $1500 +\- with about 1-2 hrs for a novice person both sides.
Of course got to get an alignment afterwards
I hate to say this, but they did you a favour :)
Places like Canada has a lot of rust, which that control will be covered in, if they did just the bushing, you'd spend more time in labour, making it more expensive for you, as far as dealer prices go it's not a bad price.
OEM parts are also pretty expensive.

you should have torqued the control arm bolts while load/weight was applied to them so that the bushings do not overtwist

Bro I’m having this problem but I’m very confused and wasting money because this problem I hear a continues clunk noise when hitting bumps and it’s coming from the dash but then it’s not I check everything but I might check the steering shaft 😢

It doesnt have any when i removed the bolts , but if you wish to use thread lock you can apply a little bit. 👍

Felix! So how does it drive and handle after the upgraded bushings? Like a new CX-5 or harsh like a track car? What differences can you share with these new LCA bushings? Also, have you changed the fluid in your differential yet? We've both done the transmission and filter (strainer) maintenance but what about diff? Thanks for the video my friend, but I'm not sure I can get these bushings shipped to the US.
with this ones they are very much OEM feels very much feel like new car very smooth. You can find another brands via ebay for SuperPro Australia and i believe they can ship world wide. They also sells polyurethane bushing for our Mazda and all popular model cars. Here in Indonesia we only get Protoflex are mostly for Indonesia market vehicles. With the diff fluid, unfortunately i dont have because we only get 2.0 and 2.5 FWD model here in Indonesia. We Dont even get the diesel skyactiv. 😁

@@Shanghaidaddy if you live overseas you can find a brand call Superpro Australia from Ebay they send worldwide . Protoflex brand i believe only available in Indonesia Market. To be honest its like a new car feel once you ve replace the whole front lca bushing. Not harsh feel at all .

It started to wear out now and I think it’s time to replace. I just had my mazda 6 2015 GT bushes crack, at only 65000km, im surprised they failed so early, also 3 x mechanics i visited all said to just replace the entire arm with new bushes, about the same cost to replace the entire part. So replaced both the front lower arms for $983 fitted.
yeah thats correct in some countries bushing replacement are not available so your best is to replace the whole assembly.

ya needs to re grease otherwise they will squeak. lifetime as in the life of your ownership of the carZ

Just subscribed to this most useful channel, probably about 2 years late. LOL. Looking forward to more videos on CX-5 especially on repairing the "gluduk2" sound. I have changed the shock-breaker, tie rod, etc., but the sound stays :(

Kalau gluduk2 belum hilang, coba cek shock support depan, kalau harus ganti, beli yang genuine ya, saya beli yg oem cuma tahan 6 bulan, lalu kambuh lagi, akhirnya juga beli yg genuine di dealer mazda.
Hi Uncle Ben, terima kasih infonya. Akhir Desember udah ganti juga shock support, bushing rack steer jg udah ganti karena memang sudah lemah, tp kalau mobilnya ngayun agak tinggi masih bunyi 😂 selain itu skrg ada rattle sound dr belakang, udah ganti shock tp masih muncul. Please advise
@@ednfavthing Bushing stabilizer depan apakah sudah diganti? Jika belum, bisa coba dicek, jika perlu penggantian sebaiknya pakai parts genuine agar awet.

nope this car had the oem standard factory from mazda im not sure if the oem ones are made in china and it probably had been worn out due to age and usage driving to many pot holes here in Indonesia.

Do you also have plans to make a video on how to replace the other bushing of the LCA? Is the ball joint of the LCA also replaceable? I just recently replaced both my LCA for mazda3 and still have the old ones. Planning to get it repaired if possible to have as spare. 🙂
Yes the ball joint r also replaceable. But you will need shop press tool to do it. 😁
going to be replacing the sway bar bushing for the front and rear shortly. 😀

The car feels sportier , abit more stiffer than OE bushings.

Om felix, bagaimana feel nya setelah pemakaian 2 bulan? Banyak yg bilang PU lebih berisik dibandingkan karet om, dan jadi lebih stiff lagi ya? Dimana bawaan cx5 udah agak stiff kayaknya... Hehe.. mau nyobain protoflex tapi takutnya bising ban jadi masuk ke dalam, gak keredam seperti karet biasanya
feel nya mirip mobil baru, tidak ada suara yg aneh pada kaki kaki mobil rasa mobilnya lebih stiff sedikit .

Felix, after changing these bush did the ride improve for rear passengers?
These front LCA bushing does improve stability handling to the front of the car. For the rear might not effect but if you want to tighten the rears , theres a rear stabilizer bushing available replacement upgrade.

rasa nya mirip mobil baru. handling dan cornering lebih presisi. getaran tdk ada terasa sampai dalam kabin. untuk mobil yg karet karetnya ud lama mending ganti PU Protoflex biar bisa kembalikan rasa mobil baru nya.

nope not in my case. since mine ones r in a good condition. but if yours are worn out i would replace the ball joint.

After installing the PU bushing. Any sound coming from lower arm. Mine have sound after some time. Maybe the grease already reduced.
perhaps check the grease ?? Mine doesnt have any noise or what so ever.
