Looking good mate nice one. When I'm mocking up dashboards, control consoles, battery box's and stuff with lots of angels I use the corex floor protector from wickes, it's only £3 for an 8x4 sheet , cuts with scissors or a Stanley knife like cardboard and sticks and unsticks together good with ducktape until your happy and when you are you can just cover it in fibreglass then peel the corex off and build up with more fibreglass to the thickness you want from the inside getting rid of the need for a wood core . I also make my own fibreglass sheets to use like the thin ply by laying it down on a big piece of glass (a big old window) and wetting out a couple of layers of matting then just pop it off with a chisel once hard, get a lovely smooth finish on one side too . I just think on a wheel house there will be a lot of srews going into wood that will cause problems over time , either the windows, grab rails, antenna, radar , lights and rod holder's and that will be a bugger if damp gets in.. Although I do think I remember you getting marine ply so it could just be me being overly worried because I'm always pulling rotten ply out of not very old repair jobs and refurbs. I've had to pack in fibreglassing for a few months now because I can't get my workshop warm enough . I've got a couple of smaller custom car door speaker panels to do for my little fiat panda squeezing six 6 inch mids and tweeters in each door so I might be laying out the dust sheets and doing them in the living room and just sanding them outside haha . ..any who I'm rambling , looking nice mate keep it up.

Thanks for the feedback mate.. You have given me an excellent tip there and its frustrating as i have some of it in my shed as well as wickes professional tile backing sheet which i could have used but just didn't think of it!! I don't like drilling or screwing into the structure once fibreglassed either but for times when i have no choice, I do i have a procedure to seal it. on this one, ill be sticking pieces of sacraficial plastic chopping boards under the final coat of glass for a couple of areas that will have fixings. I did use marine ply to allow me to use as little glass as possible but it still soaks up water so using the corex would definitely have been a better option. In fact whilst Im writing this Im going to re-do the hardtop part now.... always up for improving. 👍👍
