Josh Karty is going to be huge for the Rams. A lot of boards consider him the best kicker in the draft and the Rams were hurting at the kicker position. They went through multiple kickers last year and the ones they had combined for about 74% makes during the season. During the draft, kickers aren't highly valued, but during the season they are so important. They drafted a punter last year and a kicker this year. Solid underrated moves.
A lot of analysts think Rams should have drafted a corner, but they replaced last year’s starting corners during free agency with White, and Darius Williams. They kept the former starters, who are depth now along with some potentially young talent they obtained last year. Corner is not a need.
@@renehouse2015williams is a 3 year deal lol with a potential out for the team if he doesn’t play well. good insurance but that’s unlikely to be used they’re fine at corner. they like cobie durant & derion kendrick as depth rather than starters, and they LOVE quentin lake who will start in the slot
Thanks for the comment and fair take. Depth would have been nice to address as those two players are in the later stages of their career. But still for this year, they did improve in the offseason
@@swishersifuqand as Rams fan we both KNOW what D Will is as a corner. Dude is like that. Very underrated. Still remember his INT vs the Eagles to seal the game.
Realistically, even with losing AD, I think they just improved their overall defense and depth dramatically. Their secondary upgrades before the draft were significant and now you add Kinchens to that group-- excellent. They got a very good kicker who is consistent from beyond 40 and has a big leg and that was a huge positional need now filled. Corum is an exciting back with incredible vision. He has the ability to jitterbug his way up field and provides energy. He was the focus for the offense on a national championship team-- that means something to me. Corum gives the Rams quality depth if Kyren gets hurt. They added needed depth for Offensive Line as well. Next year they can target a big time CB, or Left Tackle and add another big play speed receiver to fill out this team even more. Their offense is already elite and they've improved the O-Line prior to this draft. I think the draft overall was what they needed to do-- draft players you think can be productive players on day one. I see a lot of over analysis about the length of Fiske's arms, or the flexibility of a guy's hips-- they drafted a lot of good, solid football players. Verse is going to be a dominant pro at some point and I don't feel that way about Latu, who has a hard time against large NFL type tackles. The Rams already have stars, they need more productive league average or better players and depth. I like what they did a lot.
Latu seemed like a one trick pony, would really just dominate through speed whereas Verse can with with power, speed, or through hand technique. Plus having an edge that can single-handedly collapse one side of the pocket presents a ton of opportunities for Byron Young playing on the other side
@@dariengreen7191 I agree. Are people watching the tape on Verse? He's running over 300lb tackles and putting them on their backs. He can also speed rush. He has the ability to line up anywhere on the line or as a linebacker. I said this before the Rams drafted him, but I see elements of Lawrence Taylor in this guy. His motor is electric and his sheer athleticism and strength is far greater than Latu, who is a masterful technique guy, but the question is whether that technique will net the same results in the NFL as it did in college-- I don't think it will. Plus Latu's health questions are real. I think teams are going to regret passing on Verse in a big way.
Realistically I see to many people who think AD has not only been replaced but the defense will actually be better. In the history of the NFL no rookie has come in and performed at the same level Donald did last year. Block shedding, win rate, double team percentage , pressures etc he was still near top of the league Anyone saying they will be the same or better this year, completely lacks common sense.
@@paulthird3942 I think you're misunderstanding what I said and what others are saying. No one thinks Verse or anyone else is going to come in an equal AD and his production-- that's impossible. But it's a team sport and there are 11 guys out there. The Rams have improved their defense all over the place. Start with the secondary-- huge upgrades at safety and on the corner. We were missing a true edge rusher and Verse fills that void. They've added depth in the position as well. Then they added a promising and athletic lineman to take AD's spot. He won't dominate, but he should be competent and if he can be a Turner clone their overall defense on the field should be better. That's all I'm saying.
@@MartyKeegan No I got that and i just disregarded everything you said before "this team will be better". I wasn't talking about your comment specifically but the people in general who are overhyping the rookie class. But you making comparisons to Lawrence Taylor (another all time great) is just ridiculous. You cant subtract an elite player and add players who likely won't hit league averages baseline production this season as rookies and predict improvement. It's disrespectful to how good AD was even in his last year. AD was one of the most double teamed players still and that extra attention gave extra opportunities to the rest of the line. Suggesting he will easily be replaced disregards 100 years of football data where that has never happened before. No logic at all, overhyping nonsense.
Great draft and nice UDFA's. The Rams ALWAYS come through right after a draft with their UDFA signings and I was pleased to see players like S Kenny Logan and CB's Josh Wallace and Cam Lampkin address secondary issues. Go RAMS!
Josh Wallace will be placed on the depth chart some day he's a baller... Kenny Logan depth because we're already set at Safety with Kam/Cam... They're making tough to resign my boi John Johnson III but he knows the intricacies of the defense despite of the in house DC hire and slight alterations he's still a baller.
@@donteebrown849 Hopefully our special teams play gets better this year too. If this Stanford kicker is as good at his job as our punter is, we should be okay.

Nice recap, I'm surprised how much you know about the Rams...I thought we had a successful draft. We addressed the DL and got some depth at OL, drafted the best kicker and were able to get a RB like Kyren so our run game can be just as efficient with either player. I agree that we should've drafted a CB to develop but since we signed DBs in free agency then I don't mind waiting for the next draft. Thanks for the recapping the Rams
We are all set at DT with Kobie Turner. If Kobie won DROY then we wouldnt keep hearing people talk about AD retiring. Im excited about the combo of Kobie, Fiske, and Verse on the edge. Verse will play OLB for the LA Rams.
Also coach Ra made an excellent calculated 1st round pick in Penix and in my opinion Kirk Cousins is not winning a Super Bowl anytime soon he's a quarterback that's good enough to help your team win and put people in the stands but not good enough to raise the Lombardy you guys got a great one in penix
Thanks for the comment! I hope it works out in the long run, but I am excited for Raheem to be back in Atlanta. I think he can develop these young guys like how he did in LA!
The Rams did not give up a 1st for Von Miller, in fact, the Rams got a sweatheart deal. Denver was SO pissed about Von Millers decline, they threw him out of the building. Denver PAID his salary to play in LA, think about that.
