You are right, I normally don't watch these videos because I know right away after seeing that Pelican cases, they are extremely costly, a bit greedy in my opinion. I think they are just overpriced because the people who makes them wants to fill their pockets fast with money. The Lid organizer is like around 45 dollars, it's nothing but cloth with pockets on it, 20 dollars would have been reasonable.
I really admire how you use your space .. My application called for thinking out side of drawers & hard sided boxes & go with soft cases ... it seems it's all about discovering what works best in certain settings ... Thanks for sharing your approach that works well & is a proven method that you actually use ... adjusting as needed has been my actual experience ... thanks again as I figure out my life's setting that I have to work with ... lol I sure enjoy the present challenges that arise ...
I have been watching these camping/overlanding videos for a while and trying to grasp what to take but this video with the organizational content has to be one of my favorites. Great work and attention to detail...😀
I've watched a lot of you tube videos on car camping, back packing, nomad living but your Pelican organization was amazing!! Well done, to day the least. Just subscribed as a first time viewer. Very impressed.
I was always against the drawer systems because it is not easy to remove if you want to use your truck to transport items. but a lovely kitchen box like this is easy to grab and bring into the house to make room, how brilliant!
Absolutely fantastic info. You guys are So organized! I also appreciate the links to all your gear. I’m getting back into camping after many years and have begun the process of buying new gear. This video really helps and I’m amazed at the advances that have been made with equipment. Short trip planned for the fall and next summer The Adirondacks. I’ll be watching all your videos. Thanks again.
Hi Guys! I'm just studying what to do with my FJ40 double cabin pickup and I was not very convinced about working on a complex, heavy and noisy drawing system... But now, after this video, I'm not convinced at all!!! LOL! Very nice kitchen setup, congrats!
Stumbled accorss this looking for easy solutions to packing up a Renegade Trailhawk to travel from Austria to Norway with my 2 pups. Lots of roof space but not so much back space for a drawer setup...great ideas!!!
Great idea using the case. I am going to be purchasing a jeep soon and start over-landing with it very soon. Awesome ideas, can't wait to watch more videos for ideas.
Thanks for the awesome video and great setup. I'm just in the process of building up my camping / overlanding rig for my first proper trip next month 🙂
Your kitchen organization is amazing! I totally agree that each thing should have its own place where it lives that's the best way to keep things organized! Well done series and thank you very much for sharing your experience! I am also looking at the 1650 cases as a way to organize things and looking at your setup I am curious to ask what is the main divider that you use in your cases? I would assume that is a separate purchase, looks like the Pelican 1655 padded divider set?
Do you guys have any regrets going with the big cases? I use two identical cases used in an identical fashion and occasionally I have very slight regrets (only very slight) when moving the cases in and out of vehicle, or even just shuffling around in the vehicle. They become HEAVY based on the amount of gear they can hold.
They are amazing cases, but you have to buy the dividers and lid organizer separately, or if you order from Pelican, they have different model numbers for the divider cases and add-ons.
Hi there...where did you purchase the interior organizer, please? Ive tried Pelican and NalPAc for my Hardigg/Pelican large foot locker without success. Thanks and well done!
Hey where did you guys find the foam dividers? Are those the 250 ones from the Pelican website? $250 is just ridiculous for dividers. I just ordered the lid organizer. Thanks a bunch for the info
No matter which pelican case I purchase, I can purchase these dividers and organizers on the website that fits exactly? No cutting, gluing, stitching on my part? And of course it's how I organize to suit my needs, right? Do these pelican cases have interior bottom attachment for roof rails? Or roof rack? Or is it I have to strap it down with ratchet straps? You think pelican is better or does roam have a chance?
I love your system. I've been having a hard time with "clutter" in all facets of my life. I already have most of these items and can't believe how simplified your process is. I think what clutters me camping is the 3 types of camping we do (RV, Family Tenting (long and short trips), and scouts). So trying to be organized often requires 3 different gear sets and 1 complete storage shed. My other clutter down fall is storing my overflow with my normal stock. I am really looking forward to seeing your box 4! Thank you so much for sharing, its very generous. I do have a question on the Nalgene containers/bottles: is it brand for you, quality, or food handling? I have containers that might work, but don't know anything about Nalgene.
Just started to see your videos. Love them so far. How often do you overland? And how long? Just started but we are an older couple and wondered how much time before we say no more.
Excellent organization. Must make camping much more enjoyable than rifling around in bags or boxes looking for something you know you brought with you but can't find it now! Where did you get the bottom dividers?
Great videos! I love being organized too! What do you use the other two pelican cases for? I think you have 1 more -1650 & 1 - 1660 that I couldn't find what you use those for? Thanks for all the insight!
Well thought out Camp "Kitchen" Box. After twenty years in the food service business, I can tell you that any type of "semi-permanently affixed" drawer system for food preparation and storage is a very bad idea - especially in a vehicle. Poor sanitation (dirty, improperly washed hands) and surface cross contamination (using cutting boards, utensils, cleaning rags, containers, etc. for both raw and cooked food) are the number one and two causes of food borne illness. Just because it looks clean does not mean it's sanitized. And once something spills or splatters in the back of the Jeep, most people are not going to take the time to properly clean and sanitize the drawers, rails, handles, carpets, mats etc. Anything that is sticky, greasy or damp is insect and vermin magnets. So kudos for keeping it organized, clean and sanitized!
Good question! FYI, we have two more videos coming in this series. One that we will cover the last two cases and a summary video. We will be covering this in the summary video in detail. The kitchen and the pantry cases range from about 90 to110 lbs for both. The kitchen case is usually the lighter case. The pantry case can really move around in weight. I can handle them fine but if Nicole was the only on handling them I would break them into the smaller cases. As I said there will be much more detail on this in the summary video... Mark
I was able to click on the link and find the organizer for the lid, but could not find the organizer for the interior. Can you please send me a link for the interior of the box organizer? Thank you!
Great video!. Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me if your cases had no foam when you bought them or did you remove it? I do not want black and I am not finding the Desert Tan without foam.
Thanks for the video! Where can you find the flexible regulator you guys have for your stove? I have been looking all over to replace the rigid regulator the stove comes with no luck.
Hey Victor, thanks for watching! In the description, there is a list of gear and the Amazon affiliate link. The flexible regulator you are looking is called "30-Inch Hose Regular to 1 lb Cylinder". I don't know if this will work for you but its the one we use, it took me a while to find...Mark
Very informative, thank you. I do like the pelican cases, but they are a bit heavy. Where did you guys secure them? On the roof or the trunk area? I'm still deciding whether I should make drawer system on my Jeep or securing my items on boxes like yours.
Yes, they are heavier than let's say Alu-Box but they are way lighter than a drawer system. If my wife was the only one moving them around I would break them into 3 smaller cases. The weight is gear and food. The kitchen case doesn't change in weight but the pantry does. It all depends on what we put in it. I would recommend watching our other videos ua-cam.com/video/ZH2AKhYV9HM/v-deo.html to see how all of our systems work together. I think this video would help answer your other questions...Mark
So all a person needs is four $700 cases that take up a ridiculous amount of space and has your things spread out in no logical order that you have to dig out other things so that you can get to them when needed... and why bother with environmentally safe dish soap when you eat with one-use plastic wear, storage bags, garbage bags and plates?
These Pelican cases are great especially with the organizers…….extremely pricey though if you’re on a budget.
You are right, I normally don't watch these videos because I know right away after seeing that Pelican cases, they are extremely costly, a bit greedy in my opinion. Now this is the kind of overland video I could watch all day every day.beautiful guys, keep up the good work.

Wow so organised. Thumbs up
Howdy Doodee! Thanks for the very entertaining and informative episode! Cheers!
Thanks for a great vid, now I want the toast maker…so cool
I was always against the drawer systems because it is not easy to remove if you want to use your truck to transport items. but a lovely kitchen box like this is easy to grab and bring into the house to make room, how brilliant!

Very well thought out and organized.

Wow amazing job guys I’m def using this as my system. Thx

Hey Guys I liked the video but I’m on the fence about the pelican cases do they come with the lid organizer and the soft dividers
They are amazing cases, but you have to buy the dividers and lid organizer separately, or if you order from Pelican, they have different model numbers for the divider cases and add-ons.
Any thoughts on why you went with the Pelican case and not a Front Runner Wolf Pack?
Hi there...where did you purchase the interior organizer, please? Ive tried Pelican and NalPAc for my Hardigg/Pelican large foot locker without success. Thanks and well done!
I am not seeing the bottom organizer on your gear we use and trust link - might you link to your purchase please?
Hey where did you guys find the foam dividers? Are those the 250 ones from the Pelican website? $250 is just ridiculous for dividers. I just ordered the lid organizer. Thanks a bunch for the info

As you can see I'm not a fan of the big pile storage system...

The case came that way...

Great system, where did you get the divider system for lid and box?
I don't know.if you're still.windering about the divider system, but in the third video of the series, she says that it came with the case.
What divider system is it made by
Absolutely excellent organization. Very nice! What is the typical weight of each when fully loaded as shown in your video?
Good question! FYI, we have two more videos coming in this series. One that we will cover the last two cases and a summary video. We will be covering this in the summary video in detail.
