Yeah I don't get this at all, it seems like a huge waste of resources on Valve's part. They even heavily used the revamped Overpass in CS2's promotional material. Why even rework it in the first place?
Overpass is the least "reworked" map in the pool of reworked maps, they essentially just kept 95% of what was there and reskinned it. Meaning not much changed from CSGO to CS2, I was expecting either Mirage, Overpass, or Vertigo to get removed because Inferno is now a Very different map in some aspects leaving more to be discovered as the meta evolves. Dust 2 for all the complaining of staleness it suffers from, is just a damn solid mainstay of a map in the vein of Mirage. Hopefully we get a slightly more frequent rotation of maps going forward though and aren't stuck on this pool for 3+ years.

Overpass was easily one of the more enjoyable maps in the pool and they remove it for DUST II of all things. Insane. It's such a boring map to watch and play. I think we all wanted -vertigo +train.

Dust 2 was the least played map at the Antwerp major. Overpass wasn't even close to the least played map at the Copenhagen major. It should've been Vertigo on the chopping block.

Imo not having inferno picked is not because pros don't like it, but because it's a map that's so very well played by every single team, that has to be a must ban. Vertigo is the least wanted by the comunity, and it should be replaced by Dust II instead of Overpass. Unpopular opinion: I would replace Ancient with Cache without a shadow of a doubt. Just because of the argument that they look alike. Train would also be a good one to bring back. Let's see what mother Valve is cooking for the future to come.

Defending Dust 2 is just retro fetishism. It was an okay map back in the day when there was no knowledge in the mapping community about how to make a map that encourages strategic play and provides players with a variety of options. There's a story about how the creator of the map wasn't even sure where to put the bombsites when he created the map. It's different now, we have maps like Nuke, Mirrage, Train, Overpass, that have proven to be interesting to play and to watch by years of competitive play and we have dozens of great community maps made by very skilled people who have learned from the mistakes of the past and have developed solid heuristics about Counter-Strike level design.
Its actually being cool to watch D2. Sometimes TR dominates (prob. t sided map), sometimes CT dominates... its not like anubis (totally t sided) or nuke (totally ct sided)

I don't like the mappool change. Sure overpass was the most CT sided map but the put d2 in. It's not a great watch, for anything but casuals the pool got worse imo. It might play different, I need to give it a shot but first look is It's the worst mappool now.

I had a lot of friends not play premier and just stuck to competitive Dust 2 so maybe this is a good change in a sense but damn, why Overpass and not Vertigo? Vertigo is the worst map in the current map pool while Overpass is one of the best. I don't get this change from Valve seriously. Overpass, Ancient, and Anubis are like my main maps now since Mirage and Inferno are permabanned.

Overpass wasn't even top 3 maps to remove in the eyes of the community; you've got Mirage (my pick) which is geriatric at this point, Inferno that plays like shit (removing overhangs doesn't stop it being a cluster fuck) and Vertigo which people hate (not me though). Just why would you do Overpass of all maps?
They need to add Train, Cobble and Cache back into the competitive map pool (not the pro/"premier" pool, but put it in the place Dust 2 was until now) so they can use it as testing
Even if they didn't necessarily normalize it to 5 spawns, would you say D2 would be better if the best T-side long spawn was always guaranteed? I could see that shifting the map more T-sided, but I still think that's probably better than so many random rounds where you're kinda just screwed on Long

I disagree about dust2 being bad and boring, its a very dynamic map for CT's. What hurts dust 2 the most are the randomized spawnpoints. I don't understand why it replaced Overpass instead of Vertigo/Anubis/Mirage. By the looks of it CS2 needs 2 more years to get at the level peak cs:go. The game sucks for the competitive players and for casuals, this update won't bring me back.
