The new age Japanese voice actors, just like the new English dub actors, don't have the proper training. They sound like kids who were picked up on the street with no real talent.

Naturally the 90’s reflects more on giving them a distinguished and diverse set of personalities. They were more personalized in the Classic series and given more depth as individuals and different when as civilians vs sailors since they physically changed into men. While in Cosmos being more reflective of the manga arc which shows them being more as a set of people that shared the same mission goals and being more mission focused especially since they are officially girls pretending to be boys and actually hold more trust toward Sailor Moon. So Classic definitely tops Cosmos for the voices and music. Favorite voice was Seiya from the 90’s. RIP to Shiho Niiyama the voice of Seiya/Fighter.

Guys it's not even a competition. The original is a masterpiece visually, musically and even their voices are amazing. Say what you will about them being male in civilian form, but the change in their physique was stunning, it's pure art. Everything looks graceful and fluid, while the new version just looks rigid and soulless.

The 90s Sailor Starlights were more cosmic than the Cosmos version in so many levels - from the transformation, the battle cries, banger music/ OST, and their storyline! 🌠🌠🌠
OMG the 90s voices have so much more charisma and emotion 😯 Each one is distinctive and beautiful. The new version just failed to recapture that magic, they sound generic, almost bored 😥
I agree with ya the 90s voice actor put their soul into the anime now days some you still feel it and some meh no offense but that's my opinion ❤😊

The 90s transformation music is also much better. It’s so epic and fits the starlights more. The new one pales in comparison.

She was phenomenal. Seiya's voice could never be mistaken even in a group voice thanks to her. And it fits him so much too. I love the way that she doesn't try too hard, the voice just sounds effortlessly cool and strong just like Seiya.

The older version is surprisingly more dynamic than the new Cosmos version.
You can see it especially with Sailor Star Healer in the way each of her gloves and boots are independently animated going up her limbs.
While in the newer version, it's literally just one big wipe then a flash cut to the complete outfit. As a result, it lost a lot of detail in depicting the clothing.

I may be the odd one here, but I don't mind their new transformations. I was super taken aback when they were first teased (I even stopped the video to laugh lol), but I think after watching it so many times now it's grown on me :} I still enjoy the 90s transformations and music, but I don't think there is anything wrong in enjoying the new one as well :} Thanks so much for this upload comparison!
The new transformation is creative, but the music is definitely not as good.
animation is entirely fine, the music is awful, I am so upset all they did was copy-paste the manga with no soul or passion, on top of missing any panel that was more serious/violent

Old animation was not perfect everywhere, but it looks much cleaner in this case.

I love that Healer is the one going all out in both transformations.
The 90’s one’s give you the sense of difference and individuality. While the Cosmos ones sound like they are announcing their character when you land on them on the character selection screen of a fighting game. 😂
They made the Cosmos VA more masculine it seems. Not a judgement, just an observation. I can't wait to watch it!
I'm genuinely curious how you view it as more masculine. The new VA is a lot more subtle and gentle, mysterious voice. Even the way she sang the songs uses more feminine effects/techniques. The 90s VA might use a higher pitch, but the tone of her voice sounds clearer, very straightforward. She uses lots of grits and explosive dynamics, which highlights Seiya's confidence and the "fighter" aspect of his personality.

I think the biggest mistake modern sailor moon remakes make is trying to modernize the artstyle. The artstyle that was so iconic it became almost synonymous with 80-90s shojo. The artstyle people study and emulate when they want to do nostalgic anime fanart.
The new sailor moon (and a lot of other modern anime) feels very bleak to me having almost Family Guy color scheme with mute beiges for everything thats not bright ass primary color.

The little dance they do before transforming was an odd choice.
I like the taller slender look, plus the close up transformation gives it more of a dimention. The new one looks flat.
90s transformation had better composition and choreography (in that it made SENSE and flowed with PURPOSE instead of just flexing on a higher number of frames in modern animation)
The voice from the 90s have more charisma and emotion than the new version. In terms of animation, I give props to the new version for its fluidity and clean animation. The only thing that ticks me off is the stupid tap dancing sequence when transforming. They look stupid and retarded doing it. I really wish they animated the old transformation. They look more badass.
Tbh I love the both. When I discovered our dear fighter va died I was so heartbroken but I’m sure the new fighter will make an amazing job. Even tho the transformations have changed I think is a good element.

Seeing this comparsion, I loved how strong 90's voice is compare to the remake version. But both are good in their own ways. I still loved seiya voice from the 90s'!

For me it's right up there with the Outer Senshi theme.
The comparisons are a thing made of nonsense, they are beautiful in its own way. It's not easy to be an animator these days, and in Japan is also that doesn't gets paid well so lets cheer them and just recognize the hard work, and be grateful of them giving us at least a revival of SM.

This the first time I actually prefer the new transformation sequence vs the old. And, yes, I saw the fansubs back in the day. It's all a matter of personal opinion.

90s version is way more stylish and cool, as usual. I like Fighter's final pose more in Cosmos and that's about it. Even the voice direction isn't anywhere near as powerful.

I was taken aback at first, like why tap dancing? The first time I watched it, I was like ”well that was random…” xD But it has grown on me now and I kinda like it, especially Yaten’s dance!
I wish they had given them each a different dance style. Just one of them tap dancing (probably Yaten lol) would have been enough.
Technically only Healer is actually tap dancing, the other two are just dancing, which is honestly funny to me like is she Irish now? What, because of the green?

Well, let me explain :
In the both the manga and 90s anime the sailor starlights are sailor shenshi from a planet destroyed by Galaxia (the big bad of the season ) .
Incase you're confused ab the starlights gender I will explain it to you :3 :
In the manga the sailor starlights are only female but the 90s anime crew ( besides Naoko ) were wanting the sailor starlights to be only male but Naoko was against that beacose only girls can be sailor shenshi so the other crew bitter as fuck for that made this change : the sailor starlights are shenshi that come to earth to escape from Galaxia attack and while on earth the sailors "choose" an male form to be on earth but changed back to female when they were transforming into sailors a change to the story that wasn't that much acknowledged within the story besides one time by Kakyu
Faces look better in the original. I mean, just look at the preview of this video. Shading in new one feels too flat, while original shading makes face more defined.
Original simply looks sharper. And... actual black colors on their outfits! XD

Анімація 90-х набагато краща ніж Кришталь. Мені зображення персонажів з оновленої Сейлор Мун взагалі не подобається, хоча до сюжету претензій немає. Якби творці аніме малювали у стилі тої Сейлор Мун яку ми всі знаємо, то було б набагато краще. Це моя думка.

The 90s transformation was more fluid compared to cosmos. Their transformation is a bit awkward. Also, their smug expression in the 90s is like saying they knew what they are capable of and that they're better than the inner senshis.
I hate being that person. But gosh the music was way better in the 90's version. I'm sure the new voices will be easy to get used to - I'll probably watch the english version anyway. But gosh dang the music.

I’ve always liked the start of their transformations in the 90s version, but was rather meh about the rest when compared to the transformation of the others. I think the new had some fairly interesting ideas but oh god does the tap dancing just take me out-feel like it was so unnecessary 🤦♀️. I do like the spins and the stage setup though, but ultimately the intro from the 90s leaves a more lasting impression

ugh once again the 90s Moonies make a BS excuse to like 90s more just to BS the remake and trash them as much as they like. first of all the transformation in the 90s and music is great but cosmos did the best as it can with animation and music and even that was actually good it's actually new and different and it's well crafted and made.
both of them are great in their own way and it's not fair to compare them in a hostile way.😑🙄

I don’t care how accurate crystal is you only have crystal and know about the manga because you knew the 90’s anime FIRST and thats just facts in the U S of A *IF* you grew up and read the manga before the show, youre younger than 25 😂
the 90s anime sure wasnt perfect but SMC falls just very short when compared to the 90s version. the fact that both versions are from the same studio is just....how..??!! why??!

I don't like anything about the Cosmos versions of the Starlights. Their voices are very boring and the henshin sequence is a huge let down in how bland it is.
The Starlights always had a very noticeable "punch" to them in the 90s version, it set them apart from the other senshi and made then feel powerful in a different way that the other girls. Now, they just feel so flat...like a trio of NPCs.

Don’t waste your time with this movie, what you see is what you get. The pacing is the worst I’ve ever seen in a film they can say 1:1 manga all they want it doesn’t excuse an emotionless adaption.
