  • In this video I show you how to remove the clutch cover properly, inspect and change the water fan and shaft, change both oil seal and water seal and put it all back together.
    If you have a leak from the bottom of the clutch cover through a weep hole then this is the repair you need to do.

    Good ‘How to’ video for someone with the same issue.

      Yeh, aparently this is a consistent issue on these bikes. This should last another 10 years hopefully.

    Charlie you should get away with the smaller plate on the cafè racer as pre 2000 you're allowed smaller size .
    Er5 doesn't it need a brake fluid change after sitting for more than two years?
    Nothing wrong with ranting about yourself and how you've let your standards slip, we all do things for an easy life at times. Your excuse for using gasket sealant is to check it seals then order the new gasket(s) if it holds.
    Stay safe Charlie & ride steady.

      Oh really, I didn't know that about the plate. That's good to know. I will do the brake cleaning and fluid change as its pretty quick to do. I think I have some dot 4, I'll grab some if I don't. Just waiting for the new battery now.
      Thanks mate

    Another good video Charlie. You are dead right all the little bits add up to a small fortune

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  4 роки тому

      Yep, cost a small fortune in the end. I guess it's about the bikes and people getting good bikes that counts

      motorcycle rescuer Definitely. I’m just getting some carbs aqua blasted and rebuilt for my GT750. They are ok but one of the air mixture screws is bust and the choke doesn’t work on one of them. So off to Walsall tomorrow to pick up another set and I might as well buy the brake callipers he has as well. No way the bike is worth the financial outlay but I love the process and the bike so who cares and it will be great when it’s done

      Hi buddy, is it the water pump problem? Its a fairly easy fix and solves the problem. Don't forget a new cover gasket.
      Thanks for subbing

      motorcycle rescuer Yep, I think so, running hot. Since commenting above I watched all your F650 vids. Now I'm considering replacing the thermostat and fan switch as well. I can't believe my luck finding your videos. Same bike, same colour everything.

      @@Hoekstes you might aswell replace it all and put new coolant in. You then have it back on the road for many years to come.
      Thanks mate

    Hi
    I appreciate the work you put.
    But tbf that BMW needed so.much work.
    And still doesn't look that is ready for big miles travel.
    Shame because it's a nice bike.
    You can download a pdf manual for it ..so everything will make more sense about how to repair it.

      I've done everything and anything it's needed to be fully serviced and ready for the road. Changed the water pump and seals already and have a new radiator on its way. Have serviced it all round including checking and cleaning wiring.
      The bike will be as good as it can be considerering it was dumped for 10 years.

    Where do you buy parts for this bike? The price of the parts is very expensive!!!
    a liner + piston + rings kit costs US$ 800!!!
    and a crankshaft with connecting rod US$ 1660!!!!
    affffff!!!!

    Have the same problem. Did the clutch, rebuild, now the clutch lever slips. Why is this so?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  3 роки тому +1

      The lever slips or the plates slip and the revs go high?
