- In this cold process soap making tutorial, I take you step by step through how to make this landscape soap.
This is the first of two videos for this soap. This video shows how you to make the soap, and I clearly explain each step. The second video, which you'll find here • How to make a LANDSCAP... goes through in detail how to adapt the scrapers and recipe for your own particular mold.
If you are going to attempt making this soap please make sure you are fully aware of the lye safety procedures surrounding cold process soap. I accept no responsibility for your welfare whilst you make soap. Also, this video is intended for people who have at least basic skills in making cold process soap, please make sure you are reasonably competent before attempting these techniques.

Hi Everyone. I hope you like this video and the soap. I'd be keen to know if this type of series is something you'd like, so if you have an opinion, I'd love to hear. I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
Thank you...for all you have shown us and done...
Absolutely!
I Dream In Soap, I am interested in the series and learning.
I'd be interested in seeing a landscape how to video but with MP instead of cold process.
AW, sorry I don't do melt and pour, so I wouldn't be able to do a video, have you tried Dean Wilson, he's got lots of melt and pour videos and he's really good, not sure if he has one. Stay safe and well :-)
One of the things I love about your videos is how organized you are. It is very comforting to see well thought out and executed work processes. Thank you. Your soap is as always very beautiful.
Thank you so much, he, he, you are right, I am very organised (you should see inside my cupboards :-) ) Thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well :-)
You my dear are a soaping genius. It doesn’t matter what you’ve pictured in your head you can always turn it into soap so effortlessly
AW. thank you so much Colleen, that's so kind of you. Stay safe and well :-)
I’d love to see more of your tutorials Lisa. You have quickly taken your place amongst the top soap makers that not only make amazing soap designs but they’re willing to teach.
Thank you so much Christine. I am going to try to do these about once a month. Thank you for always taking the time to leave lovely comments for me :-)
Yes please keep doing these types of videos. I discovered ur channel while trying to learn how to do the shimmy for the challenge this month. Being able to watch a detailed video on a technique is priceless. I for one am very grateful to be able to tap into your knowledge of soap. You are very clear and easy to listen too and I’m never left standing there wondering anything because you have covered EVERYTHING. Lol I have been making soap for 11 months. I am all UA-cam taught. I’m excited to try this. Is there a way that I can share pics of my attempt at this soap with you? On a side note, I wasn’t able to achieve a shimmy. I tried 8 times. So I didn’t have an entry this month. Oh well ... Im excited to see what’s gonna be up for next months challenge. Thank you for the videos... I’m going to go watch the other one and get ready to attempt it. 👍❤️
AW, such a lovely comment, thank you so much that's really kind of you. I'd love to see your landscape soap when you make it. Are you on any facebook groups where people post pictures of their soaps, tagging me on something you post will normally point me to it. Otherwise, you can always message me on facebook with your picture.
Lisa, thank you so much for creating this series! This is fabulous! Can’t wait to learn more from you! What a generous human you are! 🧼🥰
Thank you so much Tami. I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well :-)

Hey Rennee thank you so much, that's so kind of you as always, you always leave me such lovely comments. :-)
Of course I'd like to see a series! Even if I don't do this particular soap, it gives me the technique involved to design one for myself.
Thanks again, Lisa ☺
Perfect, they're a great soap to do and the results are cool. I hope yours comes out brilliantly :-)

I hope you have enough votes or encouragement to continue this process. I know I would love it! So many times I have watched a soap video and wishing I could make it but not knowing how. Thanks Lisa! Take care
Ooooh, yes, I do hope you have a go at it, that's what I'd like these videos to encourage. thank you for your lovely comment :-) I hope you and your family are all well :-)
It amazes me the way the landscapes are done in certain Asian soapers..
Yes there are all sorts of methods, I often do them without scrapers, just moulding the soap and using squeeze bottles etc
Such a true soap artist...So much patience....so much more than me!
Thank you so much Nancy Franklin, that's very kind of you.
Thanks Lisa ... again a clear educational video from a master soap maker 🌈🌈🐝🐝🧼🧼🧼🌻🌻

Hallo Lisa,
I wish you a nice weekend and take care 💛

Yes please continue with the tutorials
Thank you Linda, yes I think I will, they may not be that frequent as they take a long time, but I'll try to aim for one a month I think, with my other videos in the other weeks. I hope you and your family are safe and well :-)
Woohoo, I’m so excited you are doing this. Yes please work on a series. You are so special, kind and giving. Thank you, thank you for it all. Stay safe and healthy, many blessings to you!

I LOVE this series idea.
Excellent, so pleased. I hope you make some of the soaps :-)
@@IDreamInSoap you are so thorough and detailed and you have a British accent and so I know this soap will be classy! How can I say no to that?!?!???
Yes! Yes!! Very interested! Teach me please. I'm putty for you to mold. My last batch seized in a second. I had to throw the entire expensive 1500g batch out! Was it the beet root? Hemp oil? Cocoa butter? Magnolia fragrance? Who knows. Please more soap recipes with the instruction.
WOW! You do absolutely amazing designs!!! Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome! Thanks a lot Pamela
Oh my gosh how awesome this was to watch and learn
Hi Pam I'm so pleased you liked it and thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment for me ☺️
What a wonderful video and so happy I have subscribed. It’s lovely to see the beauty of the soap AND maths in action. Super cool for showing kiddos that maths really do have use and what wonderful things can result. I’m from the US and did not know that you’re limited to a fragrance percentage. I like a very strong scented soap; having the fragrance remain on my skin, becoming part of my scent. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and artistry with us. 💜
Hi Jayne, thank you so much, ooh yes I'm always a fan of 'soapy maths' and I agree with you, taking things that you learn and applying them to something you enjoy is fantastic. Thank you for your lovely comment
Awesome video. So creative and informative!!! It is a boon to us soapers that you are so willing to share. Thank You so very much. This scene reminds me of the Rocky Mountains in my home state of Colorado. Beautiful 👍
AW, such a lovely comment, thank you so much that's really kind of you and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment :-)
Hi Lisa. I enjoy watching your channel. Your explanations of your techniques are very thorough, and the best part is, I can understand what you are trying to convey. Please keep making these videos. I’m a new soaper and find your videos very instructive.
AW, such a lovely comment, thank you so much that's really kind of you to say and I will certainly try to get one made about once a month, to slot in with my other videos. Stay safe and well. :-)

Thank You for everything; tips, techniques, explanations, your beautiful and unique art. Very lovely and inspirational. Blessings and light for you!
Thank you so much Argentina
This is something I'll need to try soon. I avoided sculpted layers in the landscape challenge, but I feel like this would provide a crisper landscape. Did you mention covering the cardboard with packing tape to reuse them? I feel like you may have mentioned it, but I got distracted with a dog who needed to be walked 🤦🏻♀️. I wasn't sure if you thought that would help the scrapers be reusable. It's a beautiful soap! I bet it smells amazing. Cashmere scents feel so warm and rich to me. 😍
Hey Whittany, thanks so much. Yes you should try it, it's one of those things that once you do it, as long as you scrape at the right consistency it is surprisingly straightforward.
I didn't mention the tape, although it is a good idea because I find that unless you completely cover the cardboard, including the cut edges, the cardboard still absorbs a little soap and goes a bit soggy, then I wouldn't want to keep them to reuse, also for the detailed layers, like the mountain tops and snow scrapers the tape can stop you getting all the little details.
The cashmere does smell so fantastic, it's one of my favourites it's definitely one of those that you have a little sniff of as you walk past :-)
Hi Lisa, It's a yes from me. I tried making your ocean waves soap and it went horribly wrong. Having a video/series that explains in detail & shows me what to do will assuredly benefit me. Thanks again for being so generous with your tips, tricks, and over all info on how to make a great bar of soap! I can't wait! Thanks again & take care.
Thank you so much Gwen, aw no, that's a shame about the wave soap. I am definitely doing a series, trying to get one of this type of video out a month to upload in between the others. Number 2 is in the mold as we speak :-)
I love all your videos❣️
Thank you so much Sarah, that's very kind of you. I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well :-)

What a wonderful, detailed tutorial. I hope you'll make many more for this series. This scraping technique is definitely something I would like to try.
Oh, and a tip for those soap scraps after beveling: put it in a tea bag, then close the bag and use it as a soap.
Thank you so much Christa, ooh that sounds like a great idea, I often just squash them into a little ball, but the tea bag sounds fab :-)
Your extremely talented ❤
Thanks so much 💛
Super cool, so fun. Thank you for the wonderful explanations
Glad you enjoyed it Brooke :-)

Thank you so much for all the hard work making these 2 videos. Like I said before I would love to have a course with you so these videos are the next best thing! Beautiful soap too, you are certainly a genius, Lisa, it all seems so easy when you do it❤️👏👏👏👏👏
AW, thank you so much Mag, I'm so pleased, it's so lovely when people benefit from my videos, it makes my day.
Wow. Thank you for the lesson. Since I an still waiting on my first batch of soap supplies, this soap is way beyond my abilities. So great lessons none the less.
Thank you Lisa.
Hey Michael, I hope your things get here soon, yes maybe try a few loaves 1st and get use to things and then start trying some things out :-)
@@IDreamInSoap Thanks. I planned a 3 color, 2 clay, layered soap for my first soap. I'm thinking i need to reevaluate my plan.
@@michael7324 It does sound quite a lot, but I did a 3 layer with mica lines for my 1st soap, so I'm not going to say don't try. Bear in mind clay will typically accelerate your trace, which may make it more difficult if you want straight layers as it may thicken and stop you pouring smoothly, but it won't (well it shouldn't) make it get too thick, If you're after textured layers then it should be fine.
Amazing! I wish I had the math abilities and vision that you have. You dear, are very talented!
That's so kind of you to say Susan , thank you so much 😊
I lost count as to how many times I have watched this video... waiting for a specific fragrance oil (secret garden from bramble berry) and I will attempt this one.
I cannot wait for more 🥰
He, he, ooh I hope that fragrance comes along soon and I hope it goes brilliantly
I am hooked on your channel! You are a fabulous teacher and your explanations are so detailed. I really appreciate the details that you’ve shared from your notebook, specifically on how much batter to make for individual layers. Thanks to you, I feel so much more confident about the more technical and mathematical parts of soaping. Huge thanks for keeping me from going crazy in 2020.
Aw I'm so pleased that I'm able to help you out, such great news. Thanks for the lovely comment ❤️
I do hope you continue this series! You have an amazing way of instructing. I’m not making soap yet as I’ve just moved and I’m still knee deep in boxes lol, but this summer I am planning on giving it a go! Thank you so much! Hugs, Summer xo

Oooh excellent. I hope you give it a go :-)
@@IDreamInSoap I did it!! Yesterday! I muffed a few things (volumes of colours) but managed to problem solve without it being too disasterous :) The final effect was way better than I thought, given it was my first go at something like this, so feeling pretty chuffed right now!
Thank-you so much again for this amazingly helpful video!
