I believe Clemens has the most wins of anyone not in HOF, and no Joe Morgan??
Great video as always!
Nice collection. Going to age myself. Have 3 raw Nolan Ryan RC. Have 2 raw Johnny Bench RC, too. Got all 5 out of bubblegum packs back in the day. The reason I have them is I have never sold any of the over 20,000 sports cards. My nephew will inherit my collection with the agreement he gives them to his son. I would really like the entire collection to be in the family 100+ years from now.
If you need an extra son just let me know 😋
I love the cards I have that I actually bought in the original wax packs when I was a kid, though, obviously, they're often in pretty beat up condition and not worth anything. My oldest is a single surviving card from the 1968 game insert of Frank Howard. That was my first year of collecting cards,. I was six years old and all the rest of my 68's disappeared, but I still have that one. Around 1975, I ended up buying the complete 1968 set for 40 dollars with money I made on a summer job.
@@RRaquello Around 1966, I was given 1960 Topps Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Yogi Berra cards by a much older neighbor who had been drafted into the Army and was going to Vietnam War. I still have all 3 raw cards. Unfortunately, the Mantle has a crease. Maris and Berra would probably be either PSA 2 or 3. I keep them because they remind me how I started collecting sports cards.

I started buying cards in 1968, but somehow all my 68 and 69 cards disappeared. From 1970 on, I managed to hold on to most of my own cards, so I have, for example, several hundred cards from the 1970 set that I've had since I was an 8 year old in 1970. They're all beat the hell up, because an 8 year old doesn't keep cards in mint condition, but they have sentimental value because I've had them for 50 years. Same with cards from 71, 72 and so on. Later on, I went back and bought complete sets from 1968-1974 that are all in excellent condition, but my original cards that I bought in wax packs as a kid are my favorites.
Where have you gone, Joe Morgan?
Ah I forgot Morgan!
Props to Montreal Sports! I watched and as a Cincinnati fan wondered where Joe Morgan was!
Iʻd love to see your 70ʻs and 50ʻs. Thanks for a fun video to watch
Much respect for this 60s rookie collection! I'd like to nominate the 1963 Topps baseball Dave Debusschere rookie as a HOF honorable mention (basketball HOF). Get the Luis Tiant, Tony Oliva and Dick Allen rookies ready. Bill Freehan and Andy Messersmith will probably never make the HOF, however they are very underappreciated: Freehan was an 11-time All-Star (most by a MLB non-HOF) and Messersmith is 4th all-time in MLB history for lowest opponents' batting average (.212) behind Ryan, Koufax and Kershaw. He's also 6th in career fewest hits allowed per 9 innings and had a 2.86 career ERA. Forgive my stat preaching.
Im a stat nerd so I love it!
@@collectorinvestordealer One of my favorite stats is that Babe Ruth pitched more shutouts (17) than any current pitcher (Kershaw leads with 15).
I really enjoy seeing the vintage cards in your collection. Thank you so much for sharing them :)
Great video! I did miss Joe Morgan from ‘65, and I’d nominate Masanori Murakami from the ‘65 set as well as the first Japanese player in MLB.👍🏼⚾️
Great cards!
Happy father's Day guys love the content chris.
Would love to see a "first-solo card" follow-up to this video. It seems so many HOFs appeared on multi-player cards during this era.
Agree. A lot of them have the rookie/gold cup logo on them which makes them look even better. Love the Perez and Carew 2nd year
I began hunting for the players 2nd Year card and in the case of Lou Pinella his 4th and Steve Carlton who has a missing year
yeah, i always loved Andre Dawson's solo RC (i know he's the next decade from this video but that's the first card that sprung to mind)
“I got mad hits like rod carew” !!!! Yesssss 🙌
Little Timmy Micallef looked that up in a encyclopedic.
Congrats on a really nice collection of 60’s rookies. I’m most impressed with the Catfish Hunter card in an 8 as not only is that card challenging to find, it’s almost impossible to find in high grade. You should be satisfied with your “8” as I have friends with disposable cash that can’t find that card in an 8. Great collection!!
Hi Chris, I always love and learn from your videos. The only one I noticed that you forgot. Is little Joe. My favorite 2b of all time ! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and showing the beautiful cards. God Bless
way to go deep on this video. bring on the 50s and 70s!
A funny story about how my grandfather got a 1968 Nolan Ryan Rookie. So in 68 he was in the Army Reserves and one day is CO told him and a couple of his buddies that if they wash his jeep that they can get some baseball, football or basketball cards. So my grandfather helped clean the jeep and when he was choosing his card his chose the 68 Ryan Rookie. Then he had it in his yearbook for like 30 years until he saw that card at an auction and realized he has that card too, and then he put it in a case. Amazingly it's still in pretty good condition.
It’s amazing how many all stars the reds had in the 60’s and 70’s. Big Red Machine was Greatest team of all time. Hopefully one day I’ll get to see a Ship 🏆
That 70’s Refs lineup was full of stars up and down the lineup. Even Even the non-HOF were great player like Griffey and Dave Conception. I know, I’m a die hard Ref Sox fan- we had some trouble with them in, I think, 1975!!
Thanks for this Chris. Love the peek into the breath of your amazing collection.
So much fun. These are great and so informative. Thank you for keeping the hobby fresh. Minnesota says meOW!
Very nice cards. Thanks for showing
Wow . Amazing collection.
I think some of these card prices have seen a nice bump (increase) in the, past year or two. But, good ole' Ken McMullen, is still the most expensive rookie card from the 1960s, what an absolute legend
Nice Vintage PC
Technically Uecker is in the HOF as an announcer. He also had a card where he was pictured holding a bat lefty. He did that to see if Topps would notice. Finally there is a Cardinals team photo of Ueck and Bob Gibson sittin front row, holding hands. LOLZ
Didnt realize Uecker got in, even as an announcer. Got to put his RC on my radar.
@@collectorinvestordealer Tim McCarver too, I believe his RC, is in 1962. Topps.
Nice Marichal, the color reminds me a of a 53 Bowman card.
I really do enjoy your videos a lot. I love this one because it reminds me of being a kid and spending time with my dad going to card shows, buying cards and getting autographs. Thank you for sharing these cards and your stories.
every decade in your collection please! shit is unreal
A dream collection. Love all of your cards my man!
That Yaz is a beauty
That Juan Marichal is a bute! From the "holy crap im so jealous" division. Thanks again for sharing your collection with us. Its so cool that you have that much history on your table.
Nice "Beastie Boys" reference with Rod Carew, love the vids
I really enjoyed the vid. I want more.
Great video Chris. I just ran across your you tube channel with this being my first video. Bought from you many times on eBay. Love your collecting history story as it is similar to mine. Been struggling how/where to take my PC as this just gave me the vision I was looking for. Thanks.
Very cool to hear that. Thank you for the comment.
Love the channel Chris. Btw, the 1962 Joe Torre rookie is missing from your collection, along with the previously mentioned 1965 Joe Morgan rookie.
The Hunter card sure moved around in the slab a lot.
Great collection
Love the vintage videos. Something about those fifties and sixties cards I just have such a great look. Keep up the great content I would love to see a video from the 50s and or 70s
Great cards. Very cool video.
I just have the Lou Brock That's the only rookie baseball card from the 60s I really wanted. I think mine is a 6 too. It's a beauty. Love the Marichal. Stunner!
I like some of the second year cards of several of these 1960's hall of famers. The 1967 Topps Steve Carlton in PSA 9 is very hard to find and a great card there was no 1966 card, and Tom Seaver's 1968 second year card are neat.
Agreed on both of those
got mad hits like i was Rod Carew -lol. vintage beastie reference
Can't wait for your 1970s version of this! My first year collecting was '71 and was done by '77 and on to comic books...
I came back to revisit this video, and found it funny you didn't show a Joe Morgan, but just a few days ago in a live stream with Mike, Baseball Collector, you said, you don't have one. I'm hoping to add one to my collection soon too. Have you held on to all or most of the cards you showed here in this video? Would love to see more of these from your personal collection. Vintage rookies, odd ball, or just great, iconic cards in general.
Nice man, i learn a lot from you Chris wish i got back into collecting years ago and never left the hobby. I Love cards they like artifacts that i love as well. Baseball is my number one in collecting.
I have several of these I also buy vintage cards raw and graded but not as high grade like you have but I just enjoy vintage cards more then modern.
Awesome cards my friend.
Chris - enjoyed your 60's rookie collection. Piniella is not in the HOF, but Uecker is as a broadcaster I believe.
Awesome stuff !!
Really nice.
Nice to see these + the thought process behind your approach to the pc, I’m always learning something from your videos!
Cool cards. Thanks for sharing.
Had to look up Seaver’s career. His WAR according to baseball reference was 6th all time for pitchers. In front of him are Walter Johnson, Cy Young, Roger Clemens, Pete Alexander, and Kid Nichols. Nichols and Young pitched entirely in the dead ball era. Johnson and Alexander pitched part of their careers in the live hall era which makes them live ball pitchers in my eyes. Clemens has the PED shadow and the only one of these 6 not in the HoF. I would call Seaver the 3rd best live ball pitcher in the hall of fame based on career war.
Im not sure the exact stat I was thinking, but appreciate the info. Best way to put it might be second best WAR of starting pitchers in the last 100 years (behind only Clemens with PEDs)
Really enjoying these segments. Looking forward to more!
Jim Kaat should be in. Golden Gloves winner galore.
We gotta get you that Joe Morgan!
How did I overlook Joe Morgan???
Nice cards!
Nice 60's HOF RC showcase collection Chris.. Love them all especially the Ryan,Rose,& that Marichal is a cod burner..😂 Well done Happy belated Father's Day.. Stay safe homie..👍💕🔥⚾😷
Love this
Being born in 65 around 73 was the start of my wax buying binge. Never noticed but is the 61 and 73 basically the same back design?
Great cards of some of the best players I grew up watching. I have really enjoyed your videos over the past half year or so. As far as I'm concerned they're the best sportscard videos out there!
The beastie boys line was all I could think of
Tommy John should be a lock for HOF induction via the Veterans Committee. The longevity, statistical accomplishments, and the fact he had his best years after what should have been a career ending injury make his exclusion from the hall hard to figure. I think his rookie is way undervalued and have been able to pick up very nice raw copies for well under $50.
I'm so jealous of this collection
Great video. Would love to see more of your collection. Amazing cards
Awesome cards Chris. Thank you for sharing them.
Well done! Just goes to show that all PC"s don't have to be PSA 9 or 10 to be a part of a valued collection. Good for you for showing all of us the true value of collecting.
Nice collection
Love seeing videos from my era thank you!!! I would love to see a video about your favorite cards from the junk wax era (nothin to do with value) and maybe a story behind why you like the card.
Nice collection. I have a couple of these cards, but probably owned most of them in the day except for the rose. I do technically have one you don't mccovey's other rookie card, the 1960 all-star.
Great Collection Chris. I love collecting the vintage O-Pee-Chee baseball, although tough to find in high grades
I got lucky once, bought a box of 1968 commons cheap and in the box there were two Johnny Bench rookie cards in VG+ condition. Same thing happened when I bought a big bunch of 1964 commons and there was about 8 Tommy John rookies, but I didn't think that was a big deal because they were in very variable condition, from good to lousy, and Tommy John wasn't as big a name as Johnny Bench. The Lou Piniella rookie card was also in that bunch of 64 Topps. The Ryan & Sutton rookies are interesting because probably for the first five years after those cards came out, the "other" guy on the card would have been considered the bigger star (Koosman & Bill Singer).
TY for teaching me another lesson.
That Marichal is straight up blazer division.
Nice Sutton, bud!
Seaver RC also in 4-figure range. One of my favorite of your PC videos, as my own collecting stopped in 69, and my current collection also is limited to 48-69.
Great show n tell! Thanks! You did really well with those grades! Especially since some of those had to come straight from a messy show box lol
Sweet cards as usual! Thanks for sharing. I got mad hits like Rod Carew lol
Nice Wu-Tang reference!
I don’t collect any more, but I still get the urge to pick up one of those Yaz rookies in hi-grade. Great PC. Not only impressive, but very attainable as well.
60, 70, 80's baseball is the era I ♥. 😭 there is pollen in the air😭😂
Chris, I like your strategy on also keeping the future HOF player RCs in your PC. I agree that John, Kaat, and Piniella will eventually get in. There's much chatter about Dick Allen also getting in the Hall and his 64 RC has really blown up in value in recent years.
Good call on Dick Allen. I should get his RC as well
It was really cool seeing you at the philly show brotha, channel is very entertaining. Voice made for UA-cam.
Fingers - great name for a pitcher.
Would love to see all your 1940s on back stuff! Nice collection!
Dope vid as always, me brudda!
Great video
Beautiful!
As always I'm jealous lol. Great cards brother
Great collection, this is my ultimate goal also to get high grade HOF RCs. Just got back into hobby 6 months ago after long hiatus, so picking up more modern stuff right now. Trying get some "affordable" RCs of current players who are likely to be in HOF, assuming their prices will rise when that day comes. I did expect to see your PC to have more 9 and 10 grades.
Contrary to what you said, Bob Uecker IS in the Hall of Fame
Not in the baseball hall of fame though.
How would you rank your favorite sets from the 60’s? I’d like to hear your ranking order from the 50’s and 70’s as well; maybe a video topic??
Love Juan marchial . 61 topps . I dealt to him at Mandalay Bay . Not a big guy . His son in law is Jose rijo
Very impressive. Nice presentation, buddy. A+
Thanks for another great video. I own 90% of these cards ungraded and displayed. I also will never sell these cards and will probably hand them down to my sons.
Thank you Chris! Im building a Stan Musial collection right now trying to get his 1948 rookie!
Nice!
Cool
Hey Chris, long time watcher of your channel. First let me say I love your content and I feel like I learn something every time I watch. Could we get an oddball video? Just based off of your 60s pc I imagine you have some pretty cool oddball cards too. Keep up the great work!
Thats a good idea for video, something I will consider.
10 points for the sure shot reference, I see you
Piniella isn't in the HOF, but like you said he may get in as a manager. He won the Manager of the Year three times.
Didn't know Tommy John was a real person! Nice info.
I have 2 earl weaver mgr cards I would be gladly to send you want text me if you want it great show!
Ron Sanyo had a pizzeria in the city I live in just outside of Chicago.
I meant Ron santo!
Tommy John should in the hall and so should Dale Murphy! Love the video! You’re also missing Joe Morgan
63 Topps Rose is my favorite rc from that decade next to Yaz 😍
Beautiful collection. Especially rhe Marichal. Joe Morgan missing? I collect the same rookies but also add the next year's Rookie Cup cards if they have one bc they are cool looking IMHO.
Totally overlooked Joe Morgan!
