    What a wonderfully refreshing take on the 800MT - thank you! Yes, it certainly has its work cut out but as you infer, there's not only room for 'one more' but, if it proves durable enough on its first ADV/tourer venture in the MT800 then, that's good for us all. I will keep an eye out for your future review of this bike maybe 12-24 months post its launch. Please continue what you do as you make Australia proud and continues to take note of our sunburnt and magnificent outback country.

      Can confirm, there is plenty of room for one more. Can't say shit about that Bike. It's comfy af for rider and passenger. It's certainly not a Tenere or KTM for Offroad and it is certainly not a BMW for the street but man I can assure you, you get alot of bang for your buck

    I’ve been looking for another bike to have along side my cruiser and touring bikes, and wanted an adventure bike, I’m not interested in hardcore off roading, more national park tracks at the most. I looked at the CF Moto last year when they first came out, but the lack of traction control and non switchable ABS put me off, I looked at the Tenere, but all that money and no cruise control, recently, I test rode the Norden 901 (which I liked) but the saw the new CF Moto 800MT Explore….now with 6 rider modes (including TC & switchable ABS), after test riding it, I’m sold, and will be purchasing one next week

    Mate, I’m so torn. Been looking at Suzuki, BMW and Triumph for months, thought I’d made up my mind then someone goes and mentions this bike. There was an expression years ago in my line of work when things went wrong; “things are falling apart like a Chinese motorcycle.” Have times changed? The bike looks like it has all I need, but do I trust a Chinese brand just to save a few bucks? All stuff I need to ponder, but I definitely appreciate the no-nonsense review. Gives me food for thought. Nicely made video, by the way. Cheers!

    • @advlife
      @advlife  2 роки тому

      It has a three year warranty, which helps. Massive jump in price if you're looking at the BMW 850 and Triumph 900. The V-Strom 650XT is definitely worth consideration on price, reliability and verstility. A lot depends on what sort of riding you'll mostly be doing.

    • @dog4mike
      @dog4mike 2 роки тому +1

      @@advlife Yeah, thanks for the reply! You're spot on, all things to consider. Me, I rode cruisers for years and years, only got the ADV bug a little while ago, so there's a lot I don't know. I don't see myself doing a lot of full-throttle dirt riding, but I want a bike that can handle the occasional fire trail or unsealed road when I decide to explore a bit. My front runner now is the VStrom 1050, because I will be doing a lot of highway, so cruise control, heated grips and ride modes are high on my list - things the VStrom 650 doesn't have but the 800MT does have. Price is always a consideration, but if I have to spend more to get the right bike, that's OK, too. Anyway, still working it all out, but you've given me some good info to think about!

      @@dog4mike and now there's a Vstrom 800! what did you get? curious to know coz I'm also looking to join the ADV world from cruiser...

    • @dog4mike
      @dog4mike Рік тому

      @@philipodeny1129 I went with the V-Strom 1050XT. Honestly, I love everything about it and I haven’t even window shopped for anything else since the day I got it. The new DE Stroms were announced literally the same week I collected my XT, but I’m good with what I have. They are focused on the off-road ADV crowd, where I’m more of a road and occasional dirt road guy.
      I came from cruisers as well. 20-ish years of Harleys and metric cruisers. My gateway ADV was a Kawasaki Versys 650, which I bought used for chips to see if I liked it, while I still had the Harley. It got me hooked enough to basically stop riding the Harley altogether. When I finally admitted to myself that I was done with cruisers, I sold both bikes and just started over. The Versys was a 650. Plenty of power, but buzzy on long rides. No cruise control, hands went numb after a while. That’s why I went with the V-Strom 1050 rather than the 650. If you’re coming from a large capacity cruiser of 1000cc or more, you’ll appreciate that extra pull. It’s amazing on the highway, which is where I use it most.
      If you’re looking to do a lot of off-road, though, I might look elsewhere. While the 1050XT is perfectly capable on unsealed roads and dirt, and literally tens of thousand of riders around the world swear by the Strom, it lacks some of the features serious off-road riders want. The new V-Strom 1050DE and 800DE bikes address that. So if proper off-road is your thing, I’d look at the DE series, or the BMW, Triumph, Honda, etc.
      Having said all that, it all comes down to individual needs. I’m sure the CFMoto would have been fine for most of my needs. It just lacked a couple things I really wanted, and in the end I was happy to spend a little more on the bigger motor and Suzuki brand, which I know and trust.
      Whichever way you go, I can tell you it’s a much different feeling than a cruiser. Better or worse is subjective. I prefer it and wish I hadn’t waited so long. Hope you find the one that works for you!

The KTM 790/890 Adventure and some Dukes, have suffered badly from soft cams, with wear and damage occurring at relatively low km (15,000). Nice concise review, thanks. The MT800's were recently released in the UK. Unfortunately the 'launch' has been typical of Chinese made and imported bikes, not so much a whimper as a mouse fart. Hopefully the dealers will sooner or later get demo bikes in and I will get a test ride.

      It's frustrating when launches don't yeild any decent info. I once flew to France for a launch of a CanAm ATV that they didn't have but didn't tell us till we got there 28 hours later. And another launch in Spain where Gas Gas (pre-KTM) decided not to let us ride the one bike we travelled from Australia to ride.
      That said, nothing beats riding a bike yourself. As soon as they arrive, jump on and go for a blast.

They took a pre-production model to an Overlander show and around 14 months later their 'launch' consisted of a couple of pictures on FB of a single bike being uncrated... that was it. A few months later they put a couple of press bikes out, mostly to smaller UA-cam review channels. I will wait and see what happens with the MT800.

Sinnis is a UK brand and I think they get their bikes from Zongshen, mostly 125cc beginner bikes with a good reputation. But there was clearly no love for the 380cc twin version of the Terrain 125, not helped by the fact it really isn't a good motorcycle.. which is possibly why there was no love, I mean, you've got to have faith in something to be able to sell it.
