The drummer Rick Allen was in the hospital still recovering from the injuries and he was already figuring out how to get back to drumming. They put a cushion at the foot of his bed to allow him to push himself up and he started to tap his feet. And the rest is history.

The drummer Rick Allen aka Thunder God is a true example of not letting a disabling feature stop you from what you love to do. They’re truly a family as Joe Elliott (lead singer) said they’re all his brothers. Their producer Mutt Lange helped them propel to another level.

Few rock bands can post such a trifecta of hit songs from one album as Def Leppard did with "Animal", "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Hysteria" that have stood the test of time.
It was Hysteria like it was said. The drummer is Rick Allen. He lost his arm in an auto accident. He teach himself to play with one arm and drum trigger foot pedals. He didn't want to get quit so this is what he came up with . It's an incredible accomplishment. Pyromania was the first "record" I ever bought. High n Dry is another great album . Hysteria is an amazing album. It was the first they did after Allen learned how to play again.

Used to 'try' and fall asleep with this album playing on my walkman every night as a kid when it came out. Still do the same sometimes these days. Ageless! Love these reactions, keep them coming!
Since 1992, the band has consisted of Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen (guitars, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitars, backing vocals), which has been the band's longest running line-up.

I'm guessing like most new people to 80's rock, you first heard it on Guitar Hero. This Hysteria album is amazing from the first song to the last. This shows what a talented band and a great producer can create. These songs have great guitar layering and of course our introduction to electronic drums big sound. Great reaction, thank you!
Man I was brought up on 60's ,70's ,80's, alittle 90's and you bring me back to them times my boy was born 80 and loves my music. I've turned him on to you. Keep the peace
The history of the mullet, they rocked the puff mullet, the skullet, and the heavy mullet puff mullet rick savage bassist the skullet phill Collins Joe classic hard rock mullet plus I loves this band
Phil Collen. Phil Collins was in a different band.
Man these videos take me back to high school. Since you're on Def Leppard ya gotta do Pyromania
One of my favorite songs from my FAVORITE 80's band! I was SOOOOOO blessed to have my 20's begin with the 80's! My young adult years fell perfectly into the greatest decade of music! (Of course, I loved the music from the 70's as well, but the 80's have yet to be topped IMHO.)
I really hope that we can get back to world were we can go see bands like this, LIVE. Def Leppard and Styx are among the greats that are STILL touring and will no doubt come back around, because they love their fans.
I think it was on Balls of Fury.
Dan Fogglers character was a big Def Leopard fan.

How was Disneyland?
@@chosanwan1510 Did you meet Dumbo?
Pour Some Sugar On Me was done in Balls of Fury (Hilarious Movie!) and even star Christopher Walken sang along. Want to see a great comedic movie? Check out Balls of Fury (especially close to my heart because I live in Daytona Beach, where hero Ronnie Daytona gets his name! LOL!!
Aisha Tyler was diggin “Rock of Ages” in that movie.
Loved Balls Of Fury!
"What was up with those courtesans of pleasure?"
"Ah, yes, mine really knew how to handle a man -"
"What the -?"
"Master had a great time last night. Let's just leave it at that."
Not gonna lie, loved the mullet back in the day LoL
I heard it on the radio first 😁
So glad you did some def lep. They've been my fave band for 30 years. I've seen them live 93 times.
Born in the early seventies, came of age in the 80's and never was a huge Def Leppard fan. But saw them in concert in 1996 and HOLY COW what a PHENOMENAL show. Nothing fancy, just straight up Mullet Metal done right.
You might as well listen to the whole album!
Doin’ the whole Hysteria album eh?👍
Nothin wrong with that!
One of my all time favorite bands! Def Leppard 4Ever! Check out their early stuff Waisted and Bringing On The Heart Break. Great stuff!
Def Leppards music always gives me awesome chills to the bone. My teenage years of the 80s were fun with rock 🎸 music 🎶 of this caliber.
There's a biopic made for television called "Hysteria" you should watch. Lead singer Joe Elliot gives side notes and explains certain scenes during breaks throughout the movie. An interesting movie to watch. watch
Recommend another 80's band:
Tears For Fears: Head Over Heels
Well that and “Shout” “Mad World” “Pale Shelter” “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” “Woman in Chains” “Break it Down Again” “Advice For The Young At Heart” etc etc etc. Great band.
Definitely, would love to see Jamal's reaction!! 👍
@@KingFahtah Don't forget "Change". First video of theirs that I saw...when MTV was in its infancy. The extended version is the one to look for and has a very cool outro!
Tears for fears - the working hour
The drummer, Rick is one of my heros! To not let his disability stop him from doing something he loves is amazing & lets me know my dreams are worthy of persuing even with a disability myself. 🤘🦾👩🏻🦽🥁❤️
Of all of my favorite Def Leppard songs, this is my all time favorite!
Plays on the Round-A-Bout at just about every fair nationwide. lol
Another great song from the 80s that you should review: Golden Earring - Twilight Zone. I think you'll like it! Great bass!
And the other Golden Earring megahit, from the 70s, Radar Love.
This makes me miss the 80s ! What a time to be alive. . When MTV actually had music and concerts cost 7- 10 dollars. One of my favorite bands.
Rick Allen is my Thunder God!!!! Seen them 14x in concert, one of the greatest shows you'll see, the music quality is out of this world live!!!
"Armageddon It" and "pour some sugar on me" , don't forget!!
Check out Children of the Sun - Billy Thorpe - In a rabbit hole with you today!
I've been asking for this also...!
@@2869may I've suggested it a couple of times too! I hope he gets around to it at some point.
They are survival! Drummer losing an arm, drug overdose killing Steve Clark, one of The Terror Twins, and his replacement Vivian Campbell fighting cancer. This is what it means to be human, Jamel. Always keep going. Thank you man.
YAY AGAIN!!!!
My favorite LeppSong!!!!
So happy to watch you enjoying it....
Rick Allen!!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jamal, please check out Def Leppard “Let it go”, great song and stayin on the Leppard train!
My favorite Def Leppard song!
If you want to get even more mileage out of that shirt do their great songs Foolin, Rock of Ages, Too Late and Bringing On the Heartbreak
Mutt Lange was their producer...he was a perfectionist on every note & every vocal...took them a while to complete the Hysteria album but it was well worth the wait! Totally awesome album!!
RIP, to Steve Clark , lead guitar----------------What moved me most about these guys is HOW they stuck with Rick after his terrible accident. they never gave up on him ! that's real class. ------------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
React to “Rocket” next, please.
React to Women before you leave the album. Harder than these other you’ve done
Yes!! A must before he moves on to another band!!
Ha! That one is so creepy to me. "What's that smell? What's that SMELL? Women!" What exactly you getting at Joe?
@DmaxHd I'm not going to ask you're thread of reasoning for that, you can just keep it to yourself, i'm good.
@DmaxHd Don't wanna know, bro.
Excitable is the naughtiest one on that album
Def leppard was the best of my generation, RIP Steve Clark the world is not the same without you
JAMEL, GREAT VIDEO HERE, AFTER THE DRUMMER LOST HIS LEFT ARM IN A CAR ACCIDENT, HE TOLD THEM I WILL PLAY AGAIN SOMEHOW, HE DID FIGURE OUT A WAY TO PLAY AGAIN, MOST BANDS WOULD HAVE SAID, NO, WE ARE GOING TO FIND ANOTHER DRUMMER AND MOVE ON, WELL THEY WAITED FOR RICK TO COME BACK, THIS IS A BROTHERHOOD HERE VERY HARD TO FIND IN THE MUSIC WORLD, HATS OFF TO THE BAND, RICK ALLEN IS A GREAT DRUMMER STILL ,HE IS SMILING BECAUSE HE COULD PLAY AGAIN, AND THE BAND WAITED FOR HIM, I WOULD HAVE A HUGE SMILE TOOOO, ROCK ON, COUSIN FIGEL
Jamel crank up the pyromania album
CRISP, CRISP, CRISP, Mutt Lange production. What a sound this album has. The man was a GOD at the board.
Was? He won a Grammy in 2016.
@@kennethgrainger1112 27 albums in the 70's, 10 in the 80's, 7 in the 90's, 4 in the 00's, and 3 in the 10's, with nothing in the last 5 years. I'll stick with "was"
Thanks jamel for reviewing this song it is a great one. And def Leppard is one of my favorite junior high bands. They are a tremendously talented group of musicians and vocalist. Your reaction is great man.
The drummer Rick Allen was in the hospital still recovering from the injuries and he was already figuring out how to get back to drumming. They put a cushion at the foot of his bed to allow him to push himself up and he started to tap his feet. And the rest is history.
Please react to one of my favorite songs : "waiting for a star to fall" from Boy meets Girl !!!
I love that song! 💕
Whenever I think of that song it reminds me of a Champions on Ice show that I went to. I think the whole cast skated to it. It's funny how songs have specific moments in time.
Please react to Kenny Loggins "Who's Right, Who's Wrong" with Michael Jackson on background vocals! I promise you, it's a masterpiece!
This is one reason they became my fav band cause they waited for the drummer to getter better. And back to play. Plus I loved their music.
Animal was released in the fall of 1987. they were my favorite band there for a couple years
I don't know if you were planning on doing "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" but that's the rare song where the original, in this case by Def Leppard, and the cover, by Mariah Carey, are equally as good.
Glad to see you are feeling better! This is from the album Hysteria. I saw them on this tour with Queensryche opening. Both bands were great.
The drummer Rick Allen aka Thunder God is a true example of not letting a disabling feature stop you from what you love to do. They’re truly a family as Joe Elliott (lead singer) said they’re all his brothers. Their producer Mutt Lange helped them propel to another level.
I've always loved the vocal arrangements on this one. It's fun to sing along with. Vocal fry for the win.
Great times!!! Used to go dancing every Friday night to these songs!!! Dang.. loving my band!!!! Thank you so much for enjoying them too!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖old lady from Oregon 👵🏻👵🏻 Google Mutt ... great producer of big singers...
THANK YOU for checking out Def Leppard! One of my all time favorite bands!!! They have such a unique sound. If you want more then please check out Women, Rocket, Armageddon (Hysteria Album), Heaven Is, Stand up (Kick Love Into Motion), Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad and When Love and Hate Collide!
Def Leppard has so many great songs, so many anthem song along ones. Every time I see them live my throat is so sore after from singing my lungs out. One of my favourites it Let's Get Rocked. Also check out Rocket, Foolin', Rock of Ages, Bringin' On The Heartache, Two Steps Behind, Women, Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad, Miss You in A Heartbeat, . . . I could go on.
My favorite Def Leppard song! This is AWESOME!
My kids & I saw them at an opening of a Walmart close to Fort Bragg , NC YEARS ago. We are from NC but you guys wouldn’t believe where ppl drove from to see them, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, etc. These ppl weren’t soldiers. These ppl drove hours to see them. They even had a meet & greet afterwards. Everything was free & the guys were so nice and thought it was so cool that my kids loved them so much.
