- FaT TrAk showing how he chops samples on the ASR 10. The easiest way to make them cut each other off from key to key and play like how you would on an MPC but with the Ensoniq SOUND!

Finally a video of a guy who knows what he’s doing on the ASR, it’s better than the MPC and can swing as well as the MPC but people don’t know how to work it.
That is one thing I always wondered about. The swing and the sequencer. To me I can’t get it to feel like how I want it to with the sequencer so I use it as a sampler chop then sequence with an Mpc
Like shift clocks ⏰ confuses me is that like the later or after swing on an mpc? Usually I’m a no quantize on type of beat maker but I find the asr 10 sequencer doesn’t catch what I’m trying to do. Timbaland, Neptunes, Alchemist, Rza and Jake One made the asr 10 something I always wanted to use in its entirety. For now I’m using it like Kanye West chop samples and sequence on the akai
Wish UA-cam was around back in 99, bought an ASR-10 back then and could not figure that shit out to save my life, sold it and stay with MPC’s but this is a good video, wish I had this video in 99
I totally understand. I had to ask a few producers to help wrap my head around this famous piece and there’s still things I don’t know. I’m just happy to chop and sample off of the Asr and sequence with the mpc. Shift clocks once I get that down I think will open another door 🚪 to the sequencer on the asr 10. Thank you for tuning in 📺
That first tab remind me of Meet The Grahams
good video. But if you do all your parameter set up such as boost, envelopes, etc first then copy it will save you time. and if you do your first sample first then copy you will be able to get to your next chop quick by moving the next sample that you copied to your last end point and use that as your next start point
I thought that you can set layer to ALL and then change certain parameters globally
I’m trying to work hella fast like How Jake one be doing 😂
@mikejwomack9597 he does work hella fast on the asr for sure 🤙🏽
Greatest sampler ever made!
got an asr a bit ago and ive been seeing more and more videos show up about it and im so glad, it was a waste land when it came to ASR content. Dope video 🔥
I agree 💯 %. Trying to bring more of what I know about it for the producer community
The ASR is all you really need. Jake One great video rocking they board.
I agree Jake One is a beast with an Asr. The sequencer for me is a bit different than the akai sequencer I’m used to. I enjoy chopping with an asr and sequencing with an mpc
This is the EASIEST way to cop samples on the ASR 10. I wanna say just buy a Maschine, but then I'd end up hating myself. Vintage gear is still relevant. Ths is how it was done back then and I love it. Jake One did some amazing work on this unit. Will I buy one...?
Get an Asr for sure 🤙🏽 Jake One is one of the best on that and a legend in my opinion. Maschine is cool but the converters are ify to me there aren’t any converters to make it special it’s a computer beat machine. not taking away from anyone who uses that. Music to the average ear cannot and does not care what we use. I say stick to the vintage gear because it has a sound quality that any ear can’t deny
I’ve had my asr since 03 I love it . People say it’s easy to do all of this in a daw.
Look some people it is . Sometimes it’s so easy making beats with new technology that it doesn’t help your ear or your quality.
New dudes should try setting limitations on there tech because it’s associates a lot of solid creativity and quality into your sound
Good video dude
I agree with making a beat in a daw it maybe easy but the quality sonically and creatively is definitely going to be different with using a machine like an Asr 10 or an Mpc 2000xl in my opinion. Less is more and the sonic quality is the key that these older machines give us beat makers and producers.
By far the best video for this function, as I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while. Had to watch a few times and took notes. Now it’s time to fire the ole boy up. Thanks!!
🙏🏽 I’m glad you enjoyed the video thank you for tuning in 📺 and check out @djdezerk4925 comment he left a gem 💎 before you copy the sample over to save time with the boost , finish etc. 🤙🏽
Thanks.
A tutorial on stereo samples chopping would be great, as it’s pretty tricky on the ASR.
Stereo sampling is definitely real tricky in the asr 10 I usually go mono left or right depending on the sample I’m recording.
Great Class !!!
Glad you liked it! 🙏🏽

I have to dig out my asr..
The Asr 10 sound is one of the best
The keyboard is better than the rack, i don't believe the hipsters inflated the rack price, it overheats, and and they are charging $800 more than than the keyboard for $3 RAM from an old computer people that people give away for free on craigs list, my local pawn shop just gave me the RAM for free, it's worthless and abundant. Literally, just the RAM, as outs never sound better, then master out on any sampler, and the internal ASR-10 effects are better than any you'd out to a mixer anyway. And most people dont use scsi. These twisty moustache Ableton guys are an absolute menace!
Im lazy I’ll just sample it 4 to 5 times, then just adjust starts. Or make the chips in ableton or serato and throw them in the asr. I’m not worried about memory, cause I dump it down to the daw right away.
Makes sense I like doing it the tedious way 😂 makes me feel like i earned the beat I make 😂 I could just chop in my mpc and sample into the asr 🤔
@@FaT_TrAk can the settings be done globally when the layer is set to ALL
How to slow down a sample and keep the same pitch on ASR 10 - @Fat TrAK
I’m not to sure how to do that on the asr 10 I usually time stretch with an mpc
How long can the Asr10 keep up before overheating ? @ FaT TrAK
I’ve kept mine on for a couple hours and no issues my way and that’s with my studio at a temperature of 85 degrees just make sure to save often just in case.
I keep a fan on it or the AC on.
