Just got ahold of an ASR-88 last week. It is EVERYTHING I hoped it would be and MORE. Your videos on Ensoniq boards have been a huge help for me this past couple months since I started falling down the Ensoniq rabbit hole. Thank you!

Thanks for this bro! The ASR-10 was before its time. I still use it today. The sounds are raw and gives you that analog feel that is hard to come by with software. These keyboards sell for as much as it did when it came out in 1992. I have every library released. Dope board.

Niiiice. I gotta say, soon after obtaining an eps 16+ and finally messing with it for a few days I realized... how the fk do I save anything ?!?!?! Lol but 2, these machines are and can be a complete production center if one puts in the time to become proficient with it. I love love love my MPC 2000 ( og) , but the capabilities of thee ASRs and EPS are Leaps ahead.

14:26 I used to turn on the ASR with no banks loaded I was able to create sounds just by playing with the effects delays feedback, modulate that sounds and sample it. That was my little muscle flex 💪🏾

Thank you, sir. I stalked a 16+ for a year- the seller wouldn't ship, & it was a luxury buy for me, so it never matched. Then I knew it was meant for me, bought it, & since it was near family- I had someone pick it up. I didn't retrieve it & get it home for over a year & 3 months. I've had it now since early July. Unfortunately, it's not like I can spend whole days with it- it's piecemeal. But I love it. I already am an Ensoniq owner since 1986 or 87 (SQ|80)... & I'm not a hip hop artist, or anything like that, & I have for years dropped in movie sound clips, etc. into tracks, even composing music around these soundbytes... but it's the synthesis capabilities that drove me to seek this synth out, frankly. And, the effects, which I want to share w/ my SQ|80. While I was waiting to make a move on/pick up the 16+, I snagged an Alesis Quadroverb 2, in lieu of the DP4+.
By the way, the 16+ is museum quality, Turbo, & came with loads of CDs & disks & soundsets. The thing is, I have way too many sounds w/ all my synths; however, nothing compares to the sampled ones from 1990 or whenever, even if it takes a minute to load one up.
Now, mostly, I don't even have to wait, b/c it came w/a CD drive & an external SCSI drive. However, after a month or so- the drive quit. :( No worries, I have EVERYTHING on disk, & I welcome the opportunity to rebuild the library when I get an SD type drive that's available from SampleZone for the EPS's.
Anyway, my man- I'm so thankful for your enthusiasm for this instrument. I also have Korg Karma, & there's an individual who is like the world's greatest fan of it, runs a FB group, etc. It's refreshing to know there are other people out there who daily use this gear. There can definitely be a ghostly, lonesome feeling. I've had it w/ the SQ|80, & the Karma- thankfully, there are some serious users still out there. Everything you said in this video, highlights the fact that though Ensoniq might not still be around- neither is Stradivarius- yet his violins are coveted & still played today.

Excellent analysis on the ASR-10 as you stated the sound quality is unmatched . the output expander adds even more depth to the keyboard. Just imagine adding outputs to different channels on a mixing board for live sound!! In my band at rehearsal keyboard players just love it. Make sure if one decides to get an ASR 10 make sure it has scsi on it. Compliments to the designer /engineers of ASR 10

Thanks to your videos on transwaves, I decided to buy an ASR-10 two years ago, after considering it for more than a decade! I was even offered a working one for $300 back in 2009, but turned it down cause I didn't know much about it. The loop point modulation is what got my attention, then once I got it, the sound, the build quality, the way it operates, even just the look of it keeps me intrigued to the point that now it's my main weapon. I hardly use anything else in terms of synthesizers or instruments and even when I do they end up going into the ASR-10.

Hi! Back in 2019, when I had zero experience with music making besides owning a MPC1000 for a month or so, and decided to trade it for an ASR-88. That was the best decision I have ever made. Now I have the chance to buy a second ASR-88. I haven't seen any other one besides mine and the one I'm planning to buy in Turkey so I don't want to miss. Any cool ideas using two at the same time? I am planning to keep the new one untouched in case if something ever happens to the one I own right now tho I want to test two of them together to their limits :D I have a SE/30 with Alchemy (68k Macintosh software for drawing samples) if it helps

:No. ASR10 isnt so interesting. A lot of things unsaid here about the maintenance problems, the PSU Problems, display problems, heat problems etc... the end of life and cycle generations of that samplers, impossible to repair... and the sound based on Philipps Philips TDA1541A (converters) is not bad but its the CD Player Low cost DAC. ASR10 is full digital - Emax or S950 have analog filters with warm sounding). The only things who help ASR10 for years was not his sound but the FX Station, that saved the machine. the Fame is here but be careful : there is so mano others great to better 16bits samplers
