Its funny, I don't know if its correct, but over time I intuited that sometimes you don't necessarily need to make them happy. Them getting upset or feeling patronised is less important than them being focused (i.e. avoiding complacency) and confident (i.e. avoiding freezing up with anxiety). So sometimes you just need to yell 'Focus!' at them even if half of them react miserably. Generally speaking they don't get that bothered afterwards by a shout that annoyed them, so long as you keep winning.
I use pretty much the full range of shouts all the time, except for Fire Up! which is really trick to work

One concern I have is that they might oversimplify things. Although it's too early to tell, and we haven't gotten enough information from the blog post, I love being overwhelmed with details. It's one of the things that makes this game unique, providing a wealth of information and stats at all times.
I hope that when I open the player tab (or tile, whatever it's called now), I'll still see lots of information about the player. I also want to keep track of everything happening around the world, as I could with the "Around the World" tab (its absence in the portal screenshot worries me a bit).

Anyone who has played a management game on PC and console knows the console UI is dumbed down significantly or has functionality flat out removed altogether. Mobile is a billion times worse. I don't think there is a happy medium and platform segregation is required to take full advantage of the pluses and minuses of each platform. I don't play deep management games like FM or CK3 on my console. That's not what it's for. I play action games that best make use of the controller on my console. 5:41 idk, when I started playing FM (FM23, I have played it for a few months before my computer started randomly black screening while playing) I felt the shouts made sense. We just conceded to a superior team? I want to encourage the boys to keep playing and try to get back in it and they did indeed respond positively. We are 0-0 against some mid table side late in the game? Demand the fuck more so that we actually score. Calm down if we are picking up too many yellows, berate if they ve been absolutely awful etc. Maybe no pressure to be the least important of them as I don’t think I have used it much, then again I am no expert. I did look at the social media screen but yeah, it was really repetitive.
8:26 Challenge mode is in the non-PC versions as they say so that s why you ve never played it. It s this really cool idea where you are placed in scenarios like “what if the team was filled with injuries and you had to save the team from relegation while playing the kids for half the season” etc. They also say that it s use “away from Mobile” has dropped. So that means it s still popular on Mobile? Then again, Mobile is a Netflix exclusive now.
10:20 Exactly. I find this whole obsession with everything having to be so constrained in “competitive games” weird. In COD it s at the stage where they ban half the game because it s apparently not balanced enough for competitive but it is balanced enough for pubs? How? In FM it would be literally like being an actual manager. You are trying to lead some players to success but aren’t the one actually taking shots at goal so you are fully dependent on the performances of the players and then there are ref decisions too. That s football and it is highly competitive. Hell, having a bit of randomness while still keeping the game very much skill-based makes it a bit more interesting too.
In closing, as a long time FIFA player it really does seem like they are turning into EA with so many thing being taken out of the game to reintroduce them later, very concerning. The pace tests will hopefully not be as unbalanced in the new match engine too because those were really concerning as well

I am VERY worried about FM25. Dropping very used features from the game to either reintroduce in future updates or even only until FM26 makes me think that FM25 will be an unfinished game on release. I hate it when devs and publishers nowadays release incomplete games, it ruins the experience for me. I just hope the experience won't change too much and be overly simplified.

Honestly, the more I learn about fm 25 the less excited I get. Removing features we all know they will "add" as new features to justify yearly releases. The UI looks like a mobile game, and a purely data driven approach is disconcerting as it often feels like data can really miss fun. Also, frankly not seeing anything from the new match engine is day by day convincing me it's still going to look worse than most ps2 games. All of that and I'm expecting a price increase as well.

I think SI will focus heavily on showing the new UI instead of the match engine. It was a full overhaul and as they stated on their devlog, they know there is a period of acclimatation for a new UI, and as you've seen, people already hate it because it's new. Letting the player acclimate as soon as possible is probably the strategy they are going for, as to mitigate it's impact for the launch. As for the match engine, it's disappointing they didn't show any pictures, my guess is they didn't want it to be buried amongst the talks about the UI as everyone already knew they were getting better.

I'm old enough to have seen a lot of PC games butchered when the 360 generation took over gaming and I'm getting a very similar feeling with this. Everything seems to be dumbed down for consoles. The stuff taken out doesn't bother me but that UI? Awful. Consoles and PC are very different and there should be different interfaces for both. I'll be skipping this and likely a few versions until they come back to having a PC focused interface. I've been using gamepass for a few years but bought FM24 as I had a feeling this new version would be a cluster fuck and seems that was a sensible decision.

Well actually no it is bassed on reality
      1. FIFA need money since they lost ultimate teams, they need game to get those revenue. Since they are not working with Konami and suddenly working with SEGA there is a huge chance.
      2. SEGA new policy consist of ton of new DLC or returned revenue on their game
      3. EA does this when they push on ultimate teams (deleting custom club and player)
      4. FM practically has monopoly on this genre
      5. Bassed on past release mobile focus game is always beavilly monetized.
      6. Versus custom teams and draft mode is the best choice if you want monetization, since you can create rarity bassed item for example ronalfo with 3 rarity when he play on mu madrid or now

Share the concerns about removing detail. I loved the chalkboard for that reason. I guess that's the reason I'm still on FM20!
Also enjoyed the social media screen - I actually found some of it quite helpful, such as the pre-season reports and fan responses to player signings, which were admittedly the only elements that didn't seem to fill a positive/neutral/negative quota. That and the fact that they supplied much of the humorous little asides which I so love about FM.

What I worry about is modability. Unity is generally a fucking pain to mod. Will ti even be possible to make custom data sets? Additionally, we *know* that Unity executives really, really want their devs to focus on hyper-monetization and the usual vomit that is the world of mobile gaming. Is that the direction SI want to take the game in? Given the amount of mobile gamers, I suspect it might be.

    • @monochromaticspider
      @monochromaticspider 2 дні тому +1

And on the topic of the layout, I really don't like how clunky they're making the navigation. You can argue the old Championship Manager approach wasn't "realistic" but at least it was fairly easy to work with. You default to the inbox screen where a bunch of random news and stuff can be read and responded to. Then you continue, you go to game, you set your team, continue, play the game, then results screen, then back to inbox. Nice and easy.
Now there's a top bar with crap, there are those tiles in the middle that can presumably be expanded with a click, one of which is "news" and another is "messages". Why have separate screens for news and messages? Then there's the idea of "press conference" being part of the match experience, but who actually likes that press nonsense? You could stuff it in a paper bag and burn it for all I care. Nonsense messages from staff that repeat endless? Why not just give the darn information flat out?
Also, why do I need to see the calendar two weeks forward by default? What useful and relevant information does that give me? There are precious few situations where that's relevant and in those situations it will be quite okay to quickly click to a different "card", quickly see that there's nothing horrible coming up, and then go back to what I was doing.
But then I'm a PC guy with a mouse. I imagine it would be different on a console or a phone, where having fairly big tiles around to be clicked on is helpful, and if it is a complete shitfest with no bog paper on PC then that's just the price PC gamers will have to pay for SI making big bucks. Still, remember early Windows 8 when MS wanted to replace the Start menu with Metro, the tile-based phone experience nightmare? That's pretty much the vibe I'm getting.
