[Rusted Moss] "Mossy Platinum" Speedrun (

SNIPER SKIP GLITCH WAS PATCHED 5/18/2023 -- this route is no longer possible on current patch, if you want to run this route you'd have to downpatch to version 1.41.
This challenge is to get Ending D without ever talking to the Seer, which means that you don't get moss jump or fast travel. Ending D requires you to beat every boss in the game, as well as beat a secret true last boss at the end once you've unlocked it, while this isn't a 100% speedrun it still makes you engage with most of the game's content. The "Mossy Platinum" speedrun achievement asks you to do this in 1:40:00, which is honestly pretty lenient if you know some skips and are decent at the bosses.
Rusted Moss is a fun grappling metroidvania, the mechanics take some getting used to but once it clicks you've got a lot of fun mobility options. I like grappling and I like rocket jumping, but I like rockets more -- this route is almost definitely not the ideal one, since I go across the map as soon as I can in order to pick up the rocket launcher... finally got it under an hour, so I'm content with this run despite dying a few times.

this run has a lot of cool skips and tech, and damn sniper (was) hilariously broken

Yeah I actually really liked it, my favorite metroidvanias have a lot of nonlinearity and being able to skip through almost any door really opened up the game for routing.

Lol somehow you made priestess freia look even easier than normal. I like to use sniper on her to hit multiple hearts at once, idk if thats faster than what you did

When running this game, how do you avoid hand and finger pain?

Its comparable to a first person shooter, I dont recall issues with this specifically but generally try to have a light mouse, dont hold it too tightly and take breaks. But if you get serious pain and nothing helps, thats probably something to take seriously and not stress your hand, playing a game isn't worth injury.

Try to use arm movement instead of wrist/finger adjustments whenever possible

How do you sniper skip

It depends on the door, generally you want trinkets that increase your range (like the one where your range+damage is boosted at full HP) then just fire through doors at specific angles. A lot of these have their own setups, hopefully you can tell from the video, generally speaking you want your sniper angle to be close to perpendicular with the door when you fire, and either a sliver of orange showing or none, but that's not always possible.
Note that the dev plans to patch sniper skip out in the next upcoming patch, and if you wanted to keep using it in speedruns you'd have to downpatch then.

@@MelonBoi0 yes, if you can't do these skips anymore on the new patch, this route isn't really good anymore, you'd have to go the long way around for a lot of it
