Your alternate picking technique is interesting. I'm working on something similar myself. Do you have a video on this alternate picking technique?
bro you're on another level, please never stop posting
+1
one of the finest young players i have found. this guy is the real deal. there are so many imposters on youtube. add to that he doesnt waste one second of your time.
What planet did you come from?! This is mindblowing stuff!
You're theory knowledge and technical virtuosity is absolutely mind- boggling. Your lessons are the most captivating I've ever seen. Clearly you've put an insane amount of work in. Congratulations. I honestly cannot even fathom how one reaches your level. Totally. Blown. Away.
Thanks so much for the kind words, really great to hear you're enjoying the lessons! Lots more to come!
Dude, he took lessons-(watched and learned) from Guthrie Govan can't you hear it?
@@guitarbust9418 I kind of wonder that myself.
That’s some of the best lead playing and phrasing I’ve heard in a long time. Not only is the content great, but you have the musicality to elevate it even further. Very nicely done sir!
Thanks for the kind words, that means a lot!
@@RobbieBarnby if you ever come in India I won't let u go back, need ur advice always
This was an amazing lesson, and your playing is so fresh, melodic and clear. I just recently found your channel and I'm glad I did. Thank you!
I just found his channel too. Guy is badass. Brings the inspiration for sure.
@@goodtimescali6316I'm two years later than you guys, LOL.
Your picking technique is stunning. Thank you for sharing
I was expecting something I could do... I'm getting hit with what I feel like is guitar math, but secretly it's like the hidden formula for being dope. I don't know shit about music theory but your stuff is definitely something I am adding to my repertoire to make some killer stuff with. Thanks bud.
Man you are probably the best teacher i've found in the internet, keep posting we will apreciate it.
This channel should easily have 1 million subscribers. Incredible instruction. Incredible playing. Incredible visuals...
seriously man when I listen to your examples, I feel like I'm at the The Köln Concert of Keith Jarrett
I guess I will reach your level in 157 years
Thank you! Absolutely great stuff to work on!
Ok... First part of the video: Master it until september. Second part: Maybe november... and so on the entire year... Meaning: a year of practicing in ten mins video. Brilliant! (as usual).
The jam at the end had me making "the face". Good Lord, dude!
Thank you for the extra effort in your videos. I mean that’s an art in itself and the knowledge and talent behind it. Thank you!
This is incredible. This is my second of your videos and they are two of the best lessons I’ve ever seen on UA-cam
Sweet!! Triad pairing is such an amazing concept.
Another GEM Robbie. Thank you!
Simply fabulous- thank you !
This makes me grab the guitar 🎸 and try at least some of your teaching, totally inspiring, looking forward to the next one!! Thanks so much!!
That performance was legendary!!!
the arpeggio exercise video was incredibly helpful in its straightforwardness. what a joy it would be if a similar video was made approaching the concepts in this video in that same, practice-drill context
That performance is killer!
Great lessons! I am starting to get into jazz guitar and bass. These lessons are right up my alley.
Your mind is clear as ICE..❤️ exactly what I love ... Can’t thank you enough man..❤️🙏🏻

Man thank you for sharing this. You have truly helped me find a new sound that excites my musical imagination. It seems so obvious when you explain it but you have a real gift for making complex harmonic concepts easy to understand. Once again thank you and cant wait to see what you have coming in the near future.

Awesome clases!
This is such a beautiful idea, thank you!
Your videos are so helpful. You are an amazing musician!
The pursuit of excellence personified; brilliant & thanks for the post, I'm in. I've played around for ages with the Barry Harris b6 and, ok, it's interesting but coming from a blues background this is much more emotive. And you play beautifully, thanks again.
Thanks so much for the kind words! Lovely to hear that you enjoyed it.
First time. I'm smashing. Great level to challenge yet easy to understand. Showing the sheet music is helping me take the theory stuff I understand and finally learn how to read and write music so I can get to that next level. I hope you post much more.
Wonderful, you're such a beast of a guitarist
That's really nice of you to say, thanks for the support!
Robbie, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you so much for making your videos so clear, concise, understandable and so so useful... thanks so very much. I have seen only 3 of them so far and they literally cracked open so many of the things I wanted to learn over the last number of years..
That's great to hear, thanks for checking them out! I look forward to sharing lots more!
You are one of the best thing I found on internet fo years. Thanks you.
This is gold!
Glad to have discovered this channel.. 👍👍
Fabulous Robbie
i love yor playing dude its refreshing great ideas just to listen. cheers
Thanks a lot!
Robbie, your lessons have not only helped with my own music and improv adventures; they have helped me as an instructor, as well. Your control of the instrument is so pro. You and Tom Bukovac, although coming from different areas of playing, are, for me, the best teachers on UA-cam. Keep up the stellar work. Please, let us know when you drop an album. I’ll hit your Patreon page🙏🏾
Thanks for the kind words. So great to hear you're enjoying the channel and that it's helpful!

Awesome, the most helpful and practical lesson I've seen in youtube for 15 yrs 😅
Glad you enjoyed it!
Harmonizing every second note is an interesting concept! I will have to try that.
watching the fluency with which Robbie can play is either inspiring me to play more or got me thinking I should burn my tele in an oil drum. Can't decide which, LOL.
HAHA, that was funny Gareth!!!! Defo inspiring you tho. :D
Dude..so glag i found your channel...excellent
thank you Robbie, you're so cool... i found this video very informative! waiting for more...
Thanks for checking it out Oshi and thanks for the kind words. More on the way!
Amazing! Thanks UA-cam for recommending this channel 👍🏼
Great Video Robbie! Keep em coming!
Will do! Thanks for checking out the channel!
Musical, informative, and exploratory.
Hey Robbie: I've been playing for 34 years now and this - by far - one of the best lessons on using the hexatonic "Blues Scale" I've ever seen. The line at 8:18 is just fantastic! Absolutely A+++ Robbie! Also, the sus-triads (and there use as chords) that you show really clears up a lot of the "sounds" I've hear in much classic fusion guitar music, i.e. the albums Holdsworth and Scott Henderson put out in the 80's and 90's. BTW - You're a fantastic jazz guitarist and I hope you make even more videos in the future. P.S. - January 21st is my Birthday and I think this Minor Blues Scale lesson was the best "present" I got this year! LOL!
Thanks for the lovely comment! It's wonderful to hear that you found it helpful and inspiring (lots more videos to come!). Thanks again for your kind words and happy practicing.
Just great!
A good way to extend the concept of the Doric mode, for example.
Thanks and good luck
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Thank you for making lessons for people who don't need to have the major scale and how to tune their guitar explained. Hard to sit through most youtube lessons that are for even for advanced players but start with fundamentals. But how the hell did you get this good at such a young age? I mean, it's just insane. You must have diligently practiced and studied for as many hours as I've been repeating the same stuff. Even just to spend the time to make this video with the written out excercises and the graphics, pretty impressive, man. Thank you.
je trouve excellent ta façon d’enseigner la musique.
Et de plus on voit que tu travaille beaucoup ta guitare.
Wouh good Job.
Sooo great. Thanks a lot!!!
Great playing.
Very cool concepts dude. Love to see some of your picking theory as it pertains to note groupings. I’m seeing you use all sorts of approaches and I think that would make a great video.
That’s a great idea for a video! I’ve definitely spent a load of time experimenting with different picking approaches and odd note groupings. I’ll be covering that in great detail in future videos for sure. Thanks for the comment!
i thought i knew it all...but this actually never occured to me. So simple, yet effective and so many possibilities. Your presentation stye is great and coherent, you obviously know your shit and you don't post for the sake of posting but rather have fully worked out and though-trough content. Very much appreciated. Keep up the good work.
Well done!
Thanks to you, I took a fresh look at blues pentatonics
Hi Robby I 'm amazed.. I've just been watching a few of your clips and subscribed
If I saw an 80 year old
Jazz /musical master explaining these concepts and playing them like second nature .Imparting the knowledge so smoothly and elecountly I'd be thinking ...wow you're a goldmine ..what a great and learn ed teacher.. Thats why you're all the more amazing ...kudos to you ...and God Bless
Thanks so much for the kind words Steve, that really means a lot! So glad you're enjoying the content!
genial el video, me ayudo bastante a definir algunos conceptos, muchas gracias! 🙌
