Saul Canelo Alvarez Bruce Lee was an actor fool. Even Chuck said in interviews he would easily win in a real fight because Bruce is only an ACTOR. All that cool stuff he did was in movies! He beat Chuck Norris but that was also only in a movie!

Abel Has Risen I'm not sure what videos you watched because chuck also said Bruce would win.. facts are... chuck is a competition fighter with rules... Bruce Lee was a street fighter with no rules and was very well known for fighting in those kind of fights..

Abel Has Risen. Bruce Lee was a martial artist, and an actor. For someone to say Bruce Lee couldnt fight is someone that never met Bruce Lee personally. Chuck Norris never said he could beat Bruce Lee and Bruce used to beat up Chuck in sparring sessions. The greatest wing chun fighter, Wong Shun Leung who touched hands with Bruce in Bruce's latter years even said himself that Bruce Lee had very good kung fu and not many could play at his level. Did you know that studying under Yip Man and Fook Yeung kind of makes you a martial artist. Stop saying Bruce Lee was just an actor, it makes you look stupid. Do research.

Wow, the hate for Bruce here is unbelievable. You guys are completely misunderstanding why he is referred to as the "father of mma". It was because of his philosophy. He was basically the first man to actually merge multiple fighting styles. He didn't restrict himself to just one, some say he used as many as 9 or 10. That is why he is so highly regarded. We all know he didn't actually fight professionally, that's stating the obvious. Understand the context before you criticize, it makes you look slightly foolish.

@NAGA2086 Yeah, Mixing martial arts is as old as martial arts.
However, Bruce Lee was one of the first who popularised it, and showed an audience hunger to see it live. So in a way... credit where due! :o

    • @leleleel4507
      @leleleel4507 5 років тому +2

@NAGA2086 Mixing martial arts is as old as martial arts. That's why certain disciplines developed the manner in which they did. Martial arts used to be practical, in fact, they still are!!! It is much older than anything in the last 500 years, that is for sure. It is only in competition where we do not want our people dying that such methods have become limited.
Even MMA (and Vale Tudo) has their limitations, I wonder, still, if MMA's ground game meta would hold up, say, if the goal was to kill your opponent, or if weapons were permitted.
I'd like to see Ronda Rousey pull off an armbar with a dagger in her throat.

the first man in modern film to mix martial arts perhaps.. but people have been fighting in real fights with real martial arts for hundreds of thousands and perhaps millions of years and i doubt the cavemen picked one form of fighting and stuck with it their whole lives. fighting is fighting and there are no names of moves and rules in nature to define the movement of the human body when it reacts instinctively during a hostile situation.

Pankration was well before Bruce Lee but it had nothing to do with bringing martial arts to the modern day world, but Lee is the one who popularized it (especially in America). Martial arts schools in the states and Europe were rare things before Bruce Lee hit the scene. Saying he didn't bring martial arts to the world is as ridiculous as saying he was some master fighter that could kill anyone.

To the people who apparently don't know shit, they called him the God of MMA, because he was the one who really got MMA started (the first time combining martial arts was widely accepted and famously known) and he had insane speed, ability, reflexes, etc. The first of his kind pretty much. There's a reason Boxers, MMA fighters and icons credit him and his philosophy and use his ideas and his methodology (for example, Conor Mcgregor, Joe Rogan, to name a few, more examples in video aswell).

Dana White credit Bruce Lee as the Father of MMA to promote the UFC more, MMA gone on way before bruce lee all Bruce Lee did was popularize it in the west. Another early example of mixed martial arts was Bartitsu, which Edward William Barton-Wright founded in London in 1899. Combining catch wrestling, judo, boxing, savate, jujutsu and canne de combat (French stick fighting), Bartitsu was the first martial art known to have combined Asian and European fighting styles, and which saw MMA-style contests throughout England, pitting European Catch wrestlers and Japanese Judoka champions against representatives of various European wrestling styles. Many ppl was mixing martial arts before Bruce Lee. In Ancient Greece there was a sport called pankration, which featured a combination of grappling and striking skills similar to those found in modern MMA. Pankration was formed by a combination of the already established wrestling and boxing traditions and, in Olympic terms, first featured in the 33rd Olympiad in 648 BC. All strikes and holds were allowed with the exception of biting and gouging, which were banned. The history of modern MMA competition can be traced to mixed style contests throughout Europe, Japan, and the Pacific Rim during the early 1900s; In Japan these contests were known as merikan, from the Japanese slang for "American fighting. Merikan contests were fought under a variety of rules, including points decision, best of three throws or knockdowns, and victory via knockout or submission.

The Ancient Greeks combined Boxing & Wrestling into Pankration, which translates loosely into: All thy Might. Meaning, to use all of the techniques, striking, wrestling, throws and submissions. It was an Olympic Sport from 667 BC until the games ended in the Roman Empire around 336 AD, nearly a thousand years. When the Olympic sports were being chosen for the current timeline we know now, the committee decreed that all of the original Olympic sports would be allowed EXCEPT Pankration. In fact, the first UFC pretty much followed the Pankration rules, no eye-gouging and no fish hooks, with no time limit.

Alright Boxing Legends TV I just have to say is Dana White credit Bruce Lee as the Father of MMA to promote the UFC more, MMA gone on way before bruce lee all Bruce Lee did was popularize it in the west. Also Vale Tudo is another mma predecessor in Brazil way before bruce lee.

Supernova the people I mention barely in the times where they even had TVs we are talking about the 1800s, MMA started by having different martial arts competing against each other to see which style is the best. Jiu jitsu was dominating in that time that’s why any mma gym you go to they have jiu jitsu not every other martial art.

Sure, he was actor and never fought professionally. He did however have closed door fights and never lost a single one. That's how he earned the right to teach people who weren't Chinese and he also defended the honor of his school when he was challenged. If Bruce was in his prime today and you gave him 6 months to train and learn the rules he would be a force in the 145 division. You don't become the grandfather of MMA by being just an actor.

mma of today is now watered down to a bloody prized fighting combat sport. Bruce Lee was the innovator by combining different arts together to make it all one. He demonstrated the techniques in movies but he wouldn't agree with what they made mma of today..mma was originally intended for real life situations such as self defense purposes and possibly killing if needed be, it wasn't supposed to be for show and entertainment like the sport it is today. That's what the movies are for and Bruce Lee confimed that before the idea of it being a sport even came about.

He was one of the few guys trying different things and arguably did more for martial arts than anyone, but these claims of "rooftop fights" "dojo fights" etc aren't verifiable in ANY way and almost all of them are from 2nd,3rd, 4th hand sources that come from fanboys. Kazushi Sakuraba too. He's not a god obviously, he loses to a lot of kick boxers but he was the god of catch wrestling.
      Gracie hunter.

The mantle for MMA goes back to Inoki. His accomplishments would even humble Donald J Trump. Inoki trained under Karl Gotch for 5+
Years in catch wrestling. Billy Robinson called him the Sakuraba of his era, or rather Sakuraba as the Inoki of our era as far as MMA is concerned. At 50+ years of age he was schooling UFC Champ Dan Severn on the Ground ( source: Wrestling Observer). At almost 60 years of age fought an 1 1/2 hour shootfight against a young Brock Lesnar. Lesnar declared that ' Inoki was a machine.'
      Trained with undefeated Brazilian GOAT
Ivan Gomes in the 70s. Inspired Helio Gracie
With the crab defense during the famous Ali vs Inoki bout (source Helio diary). Brokered a fight with the Last King of Scotland cannibal dictator Idi Amin. Married Akira Kurasawa's favorite leading lady. His father in law was the richest man in Japan. Defeated the undefeated wrestling Champion and the Great Gama's nephew: Akram Pehelwan in a shootfight in Akram's home country of Pakistan. Bought an Island from Fidel Castro
To search for buried treasure. He is so revered in N. Korea that they house a camera he once used in a museum in the heart of the capital. Freed 100 hostages through negotiations with Saddam Husain who revered Inoki. Defied his country's law by creating an underground of communication pipeline with North Korea for diplomacy. He was suspended by the Japanese Government who he told to fuck off. Because he can do things they can't.

R.O.A. The only problem I have with that is gene had Milo wear a GI. Milo, by then over the hill, was greatly handicapped.

Yes, and Chuck would have wooped every single little MMa fighters. Chumps they all are. So, Bruce played with Chuck and made it look hard, so Bruce is THE GOD OF MMA.

I envy the people who got to experience a Bruce Lee fight scene for the first time in a movie theater. It was insanely different from what had been standard in American action films. They must've been blown away!

If Triple G looks and fights like he did in his last fight against Daniel Jacobs, Canelo will destroy him. Plus, Gennady Golovkin, my favorite fighter, is getting up there in age, and certainly is not as fast, as he once was, so his wicked jab & power shots don't land as frequently! Sadly, when GGG was Ring Magazine's Pound-For-Pound Champion and worked to unify the division, most of the top names in boxing were ducking him. Running scared! Even you ducked him Canelo! However, this is finally your time - TAKE IT AND SHOW US WHO'S CHAMP!
