Dear martial arts fans and movie fans, in 1997 my dream came true when I was discovered by Jackie Chan to do the final fight in his movie 'Who am I ?' filmed on top of the Nedloyd Building in Rotterdam, Its a very controversial fight scene as besides the story of someone coming out of nowhere to fight Jackie Chan and made his dream happen, there's a documentary how difficult is was for me to keep up the timing with Jackie. -- I'm going to do a full breakdown of this event on the Vikingsamurai channel and here later as things not always are as people think. in short, to fight Jackie in a first movie ever is like doing a grand prix race after a few driving lessons.
The good thing is out of all of this, I had to restart my career and build from -0 , and my goal was to fight as much action stars as possible, never to let anything like this happen again. The underdog position kept the fire for all the years and this way I can help anyone who dreams of a career in the action movie business.. And that's what I do. let No ONE take away your dream or uncreate you - its like taking your life away ! Thats why I always say
Life is Action !
I created my own fighting style called RECHARGE and its getting more and more known and popular these days so Im vrey thankful. Life is literally to recharge yourself and channel all energiet to the right directions and in combination with knowing your purpose this van be very powerful,.
Greetings
Ron Smoorenburg

90s action movies was special, something that modern day action movies cant replicate
Music was better as well. The early 2000's had great tv shows up until now. Now they suck ass.
Honestly, after re watching this movie and this fight scene after years, this still is hands down one of the best movie fights ever choreographed. Everything and everyone was in sync. Props to you, to Jackie and to everyone involved in making this masterpiece.
Thank you so much this is a big honor

The part after this fight where jackie jumps off that building is even crazier and very well choreographed honestly. The background music is great too
Me and my dad used to watch this fight on repeat when i was very young.
I was amazed by the creative choreography done in this fight sequence.
My father absolutely loves this fight
thanks Who Am I team for this amazing movie
thank you , yes his team is super creative an on the spot also they got really good stuntteam members
Yes 3rd person

This was an insane fight, nothing compares! All the best and thanks for contributing to the world of entertainment. This is how it's done. I'd never forget his.
Ron himself!? I remember how hard Jackie was on you! his standards were so high, but you did great and one of my favorite fight scenes of all time!
Thank you so much !
@@RonSmoorenburg-LIfeisaction no, thank you!
Only two things need to be said about this scene!
1. An epic and truly memorable fight sequence.
2. Re-watching, even my shins started to ache!
I share a birthday with Jackie Chan, 7th April! :D
Nice. You must also be pretty smart since G is the 7th letter and Genius starts with G. I share the trait with Jackie of being born year of the horse. I guess you could say that I'm the Jackie Chan of dishwashing.
I am indeed, well interpreted!! :D
Also, congrats! To be considered the Jackie Chan of anything is indeed honourable and praiseworthy! :D

Thats why its still looks epic after all these years. Put this up against movies of today and it still holds up. Amazing work
movies nowdays, its hard to get motivated, we are here to make new movies with the old motivation fo the 80 and 90s. it will happen
More like 100% Sanji 😂
I Love Jackie Chan, Brad Allen and Andy Cheng but I really am in awe of Ron Smoorenberg in this fight scene. I find it absolutely incredible that this is his first on screen fight and how well he does keeping up with the rhythm and adapting to Jackie's style, that in itself is an incredible feat, Way to absolutely rise to the occasion on Ron's part. You can really see how phenomenal his talents are all round. Those kicks are absolutely stunning, I remember when this came out on VHS in the 90s and just rewinding and watching this fight again and again and again. I think this is an absolute classic and is one of the best 90s Hong Kong fights scenes.
RIP Brad Allen
The Big Brawl/Battle Creek Brawl (circa 1980ish) was my first time seeing a Jackie Chan movie... it was a great movie!
The wobbly legs at the end😅😂😂. I love this movie since i was young
My favorite Jackie Chan fight scene from since I was a kid and still my favorite. I've watched this a million and more times. Just love it, it's a classic that's timeless.
😂
yes!! this and thunderbolt are my fav jackie chan movies!

This film reminds me of my childhood when I watched it with my father, I wish my father a long life❤❤❤
my father took me to see drunken master 2, may he rest in peace.
One of my favorite movies when i was young
That rooftop fight is still amazing! Very nice kicks Ron 🤘
thank you so much
I've watched this fight scene tons of time since it came out in 98. I watched Jackie Chan's films religiously almost every weekend in Lima, Perú. The set up for Ron as a big boss is flawless with that leg stretch as the camera is panning out. Seconds later he throws off a flying kick followed by a dragons tail to the opposite direction to open up the fight!!!! That is VIDEOGAME STATUS. I've been in awe w that move since i was 12 and now my kids are too. My 3 year old just asked me "can we please watch the rooftop fight?"... I put it on... And then he starts shouting and throwing kicks!
This still is probably one of the best (if not the best) fight in the history of movies.
Jackie chan es el mejor
What a great fight scene. I loved these late 90s Hong Kong movies. Their action was and is different. Good work, Ron!
Jackies super star
Yooooo i had this on vhs and rumble in the bronx. Both had amazing fight scenes and had me watchin with pure joy. Always was a fan of Jackie. Yall did amazing here.
🎉😂❤😢😅
I was watching the movie and my niece left the room saying Uncle watching those old Chinese movies again. 😂😂 Like damn I'm old now
5:13 I love that jackie chan always fighting like this in some of his movies.
Thank you Ron !
I love too The Jackie Chan’ s Movie entitled Georgeous or Jackie Chan in Honkong is another title of his Movie very much!
The best fight hand to hand combat in history of film
i liked drunken master 2 best
Fantastic moves by three people
This counts among the most interesting fight scenes in my list. I have watchhedd this a countless number of times. Never get tired or bored watching it again n again. Would love to see you ffight Jackie again in a movie atleast one more time.
That woudl be great, I wish Jackie would do these long fight scenes again !
Best fight screen ever.
The best thing about Jackie from the 80s on is how messy his fights are. Not like IP man movies now. The way he and his team choreographed these fights made them look almost like a real street brawl. These guys are swinging what looks like wild punches. Hooks. Jabs....everything. The choreography is just incredible.
"Take it easy! We've got plenty of time." I love it!!!

Always will be one of my favorite scenes. Amazing leg work and footwork
Most memorable kick sequence I've ever seen in a martial arts film
Agreed. Ron takes the cake with his flexibility, speed and fluidity, plus the long levers. Then i would say Ken Lo in Drunken Master 2 was another awesome kicking display.
Jackie Chan is a genius. His rhythm & timing & and bravery are unmatched.
6:18
Took a fall and used it to his advantage to trip the other guy before getting up. Now that's some quick thinking, lol.
For one of Jackie Chan's best fight scenes of all time, I found it amusing that as far as the story went, these guys were two random henchmen (with incredible skill) that appear at the very end 😅. Ron Smoorenburg was downright amazing in this scene!
In a real fight with you your kicks are so fast and precise I don't think many can touch you
Thank you I love sparring, still there are many good fighters out there, I do my best. The precision did save me in Who am I so I wouldnt hit Jackie for real
I dont why but Who am I? and Rumble in the Bronx are the only 2 Jackie Chan movies always playing or that I could remember so now theyre my favorites.
One of Jackie's best fight performances ever.
Agreed
The scene shotes were superb. Loved Ron's Introduction.
This was the best fighting scene i had scene in a movie. I loved Ron's kicks so much that i recorded this scene on VHS 😅. Would watch it all the time.
such a great honor, thank you so much !

Thank you Im really surprised by the amount of Daily views ! Im so lucky to have fought Jackie Chan in his younger years

Actually it were 2 guys playing the dude in the black tuxedo, because Jacky was not fully satisfied with Ron.

what is the full side-split kick/stance (2:14) called, I've always wanted to know?
It is not true to say that he does not use a double. At least at 0:30 , 0:31 and 0:35. Pause the frames and see for yourself
yes and more times !@ so true
More than I was doubled even thats the irony
Super Super Jackie CHAn we l luv U I l pray 4 U pray 4 him.....Super Super
my favourite watching jackie's fight movies
I remember sitting in front of my TV pausing the movie on a very specific moment, thinking : who is that cool dude with that high kick stance holding the jacket with his feet up in the air. I always wanted to see more of him and now I can :) keep going Ron

I always liked the combination of one expert in punches and the other in kicks. Also in the story it seemed that they were so good that they didn't take their opponents seriously and saw them just as practice dummies until they fight with Jackie MF Chan. Awesome movie 👍
Honestly everyone is so skillful in this scene!

From what I've heard, this fight scene had the most takes done.
Jackie was a perfectionist when it came to fight choreography. Even a slight mistake, he would want to start over.
Yes exactly - thje good thing is that he got this quality standard but trust me as also his stuntman have a lot pressure even brad allen got doubled 1 time
One thing about jackie chan fights that is rare to see is today so often the main character just wins. Jackie originally struggles then adapts and starts to win then Ron comes in he gets beat but starts to adapt and wins till they both fight and again starts to lose adapts then wins. The development and evolution of the fight. This is something that needs to happen in more action sequence movies today and I hope we can learn from the past.
I agree, heroes these days look to perfect they need get hit and fight back
What an incredible performance this was
Remember seeing this scene when I was a kid, was very impressed by your kicking technique and it inspired me to work hard under my high kicks. Thank you for these memories, Ron. Wish a lot of long and happy days for you and your family!

Hi, Ron. When I watched this awesome movie for the first time, I was so impressed by your form and style that I wanted to mimic you. I seem to have seen a clip of an interview at that time (or maybe a documentary), and Jackie Chan seemed to have difficulty communicating with you on some stunts because of language problems. He was in a hurry, and it made people laugh.
At the same time, many people are surprised that your leg work is so good and fast. At that time, I thought Europeans and Americans only knew boxing (lmao). I didn't expect to meet you on youtube today, so excited. Thank you for the wonderful performance and wish you a more wonderful life.
