    While I thought the analysis of Lumiya was very well done and detailed, the analysis of Zannah underrates her, and I respectfully disagree with many of the comparisons brought up in this video.
    For one there is the commonly held opinion that Zannah is not very impressive physically, and that those boasting great physical strength can overwhelm her. This is, in my opinion, a belief held in error, as Zannah in Rule of Two briefly defended herself against a bloodlusted orbalisk encrusted Bane, and held her own for a lengthy period of time against a Battle Meditation invigorated Sarro Xaj. Johun Othone himself was actually pretty impressive physically, being able to throw a grown man over his head with one hand (a feat used for Lumiya in this video to demonstrate her strength) and has moved faster than the eye can follow (a feat used for Lumiya in this video to demonstrate her speed). Sarro Xaj is three times faster than Johun Othone, and has a far more impressive physical build, one in fact almost exactly the same as the build of the physical powerhouse Savage Opress. Zannah fought Sarro Xaj while his abilities were augmented by battle meditation and still managed to last for a lengthy period of time against him. Similarly, Darth Bane was the most heavily muscled miner on Apatros, and was a blur of motion even without the aid of the force, and paired with force based augmentation, Bane has literally moved faster than an entire room of Sith Apprentices could even see, and struck hard enough with a practice lightsaber to wrench an opponent's weapon from their grasp and shatter bones beneath his blows. This is what Bane has accomplished physically as of Path of Destruction. In Rule of Two, Bane is further physically augmented by chemicals secreted by the orbalisks, and boasts a much greater capability with force augmentation, due to his increased power and mastery of the force as well as his ability to draw on greater amounts of force power through the orbalisks. And when Bane used these abilities to transform himself into a physical manifestation of the Dark Side, Zannah was able to briefly hold her own against that assault. And this was Zannah as of Rule of Two. Between Rule of Two and Dynasty of Evil, Zannah became far more powerful in the Force, which would also figure into the level of her physical augmentation. So even as of Rule of Two, Zannah has been showcased holding her own against absolute physical powerhouses, and after this point, her abilities in force augmentation only improve from there. And while Zannah has been touted as being unable to cope with physical injury, Zannah has managed to get out from under Bane's assault after having some of her ribs broken, immediately doing a triple handspring afterwards, and she backflipped ten meters backwards after being knocked to the ground by a kick from Bane, so she is not incapable of coping with physical punishment. Though she is very capable of reducing blunt force to her body by rolling with the blow, a tactic used in all of her fights with Bane.
    There is also the matter of Zannah's dueling abilities that needs to be addressed. Zannah's abilities as a Form III duelist were considered in this video to be only simple by this video, and she was compared with Obi-Wan's style to address her perceived weaknesses as a duelist. However, while this analysis of Zannah knocks her lightsaber technique for it's simplicity, Obi-Wan's power as a duelist was stated to be his simplicity, which is ultimately what made him suited for combat against Grievous, a duelist with a very complex and unpredictable style. So implying simplicity in Form III renders its defenses inadequate against the unorthodox and complex is a false claim when considering how that was Kenobi's perceived strength as a duelist. Another way this video's comparison of her style to Obi-Wan's style claims her technique to be inferior is Kenobi's use of acrobatic and agile evasion in conjunction with defensive bladework, however Zannah's fighting style also makes extensive use of this strategy, ranging from subtle contortions and shifts in body position to full on ten meter backflips. The argument that Zannah is incapable of defending herself against unpredictable and multiangular assaults, which in my opinion isn't true, since almost all of the opponents Zannah faced made use of assaults that were both unpredictable and multiangular. Sarro Xaj's assault was such, and while this fight is often used to lowball Zannah's abilities as a duelist, it is important to remember that Zannah is only halfway through her training as of the time of the Tython fight, as well as the fact that Sarro Xaj has heavily devoted the three decades of his life to mastering the art of lightsaber combat. The fact that Zannah was able to hold her own against an opponent such as that amplified by battle meditation that early in her training is actually a very impressive accomplishment. Ten years later, Set Harth utilized an assault attacking Zannah from every conceivable angle and demonstrated unpredictability and creativity, yet Zannah easily overcame his assault. Then Zannah held her own against Darth Bane in their final duel, a man who has everything this video touted Zannah as being incapable of defending against. Bane as of Dynasty of Evil possessed monstrous physical capabilities, extreme unpredictability, and complex techniques. Yet, while Zannah was overcome by Bane eventually, she was still able to hold her own against him for a respectable period of time, and even managed to get out from underneath his assault after being literally on her back.
    Ultimately, the majority of the criticisms I have seen for Zannah's abilities in physical combat pertaining to what she can not capably defend against fall flat when she has demonstrated great success in defending against all of those things before. And while it has been argued that Zannah is unfamiliar with Lumiya's whip, so to is Lumiya unfamiliar with Zannah's saberstaff. Lumiya being able to specifically overwhelm those who wield standard lightsabers with her lightwhip doesn't prove she would achieve that same level of success against a saberstaff wielder, considering that saberstaffs are not standard lightsabers, and Lumiya has never fought an opponent wielding one, and a lightwhip and saberstaff have never been used against each other in the mythos as far as I can recall. So suggesting that a lightwhip would overwhelm Zannah's saberstaff based on the level of difficulty standard lightsabers have countering it would not work as a valid argument. Considering Zannah's style maximizes defensive coverage, I actually think her choice of weapon and the way she wields it would be a highly effective counter to the complex multiangular assault from Lumiya's lightwhip.
    A lot of people knock Zannah as only possessing defensive capabilities as a duelist, while she does in fact possess the capability to counterattack against her opponents, which she demonstrated the capability of doing against Johun Othone, Set Harth, and even worked in some counter attacks into her fight with Bane, though she is admittedly uncomfortable in a purely offensive role as a duelist. However, Zannah can afford to be specialized as a defensive duelist because her Sith Sorcery is what she really uses as the trump card with which she crushes her opponents. Ultimately, it doesn't matter if Zannah can only defend against her opponents in a duel since most would be unable to stand against her Sith Sorcery.
    Many think that all it takes to overcome Zannah's mental assault is willpower, moving past one's problems, and/or mental/emotional stability. What needs to be considered however is how effective her mental assault was against Bane. While she did not overcome Bane with her mental assault, Bane still struggled heavily with it, and both Bane and Zannah believed her mental assault posed a threat to him. Now what's worth noting is the extent of Bane's willpower as of Dynasty of Evil. Even as of Path of Destruction, Bane casually brushed off Kaan's telepathic influence, and Kaan has mentally persuaded over a thousand highly mentally trained Sith lords at once, even managing to use the force to persuade Kopecz, a Sith Lord who was highly mentally trained like the others, and who possessed the strength of will to keep fighting after being shot in the back of the neck by multiple arrows and skewered through the chest by two spears. As such, Bane's willpower even in Path of Destruction is enormous, and it would've further increased by the time of Rule of Two, given the willpower and discipline it would take to live with the orbalisks for ten years. And in Dynasty of Evil, Bane's willpower is even more notably impressive. While in Rule of Two the pain of being trapped in a sphere of his own force lightning and having orbalisks burrow into him and explode was enough to knock him out, in Dynasty of Evil after experiencing far greater pain at the hands of Zannah's tendrils, Bane not only managed to stay constant, but also managed to evoke a very complex and delicate ritual. In short, the fact that Zannah's illusions were capable of posing such a threat to one such as Darth Bane is a great testament to the power of Zannah's mental assault, and is something frequently overlooked. Bane barely managed to overcome Zannah's mental assault, and when compared with Bane, both have taken the pain and weakness of the past and used it to make themselves strong, but Lumiya has less willpower, is less mentally and emotionally stable, and carries more traumatic experiences for Zannah's mental assault to exploit. As such, I do not personally believe Lumiya could overcome Zannah's mental assault, and believe it is a far more potent and effective attack than given credit for.
    While I don't think it would be an easy fight, I believe Zannah would be able to defend against Lumiya's offensive in martial combat, and use the power of her mental assault to ultimately defeat Lumiya.
    In short, Zannah is underrated, not only in this video, but just about everywhere that plays host to versus match-ups between Star Wars characters.
    While I believe the analysis of Zannah in this video greatly underestimates her, I once again have to commend Evannova for his analysis of Lumiya, which was very well done and detailed, and provided useful insight into her capabilities as a combatant.

      thank you for saying this everything that you said is 100% FACTS and i hate vs matchups like these to where the person lowballs Zannah like this. The fact that Zannah basically has a saberstaff that is shorter than the standard length of a normal saberstaff she has greater control of her attacks and no doubt would be able to ward off Lumiya. it has been noted that Zannah has been described as being built like a gymnast so she definitely cable of taking some damage of course she could be overpowered but not so easily as he made it seem. Zannah was a MASTER of the Dark Side being able to perform Sith spells and rituals in combat and successfully infiltrate the Jedi Temple... THE JEDI TEMPLE with a False light side aura posing as a jedi... not much more should be said

    All of you Versus video guys seem to have the same opinion about Darth Zannah's perceived inability to use her trump card at will but after reading that book many times I personally believe that she could very well use the ability at will and had created that technique for the explicit purposes of killing Darth Bane. Zannah herself reflects on her apparent stalemate against Darth Bane and reasons that she did not defeat him because she tried to fight him at his own game thinking that he would be easily defeated without his lightsaber. Once she realized that mistake she went right into using her normal sorcery abilities in their follow-up match and she didn't seem to care what location that match took place on.
    Also, every single one of you seem to skip over the fact that Zannah was able and willing to generate force pushes powerful enough to break through trained force user's force walls and knock them around just as she did against Darth Bane in their first battle. I'm not saying that these things would necessarily change the outcome of these duels which feature Zannah but I do personally believe that while you are dead-on about most of your points regarding her you are underplaying some of her chief strengths.

      It seems they all have this weird bias or dislike for her. They will take her most impressive feats and undersell them. They'll take the most meager feat of another person and outright claim her Sith mental sorcery could be defeated when Bane actively preparing for had his defenses torn through like paper.

      @@2centswanted113I think the issue is how little we know about her sorcery and it’s effectiveness. Theoretically if it can be used against anyone successfully no matter their mental abilities then she is unbeatable if she gets it off. But the only person ever subjected to it of any true skill was Bane. So either anyone with strong mental fortitude, Like almost any Jedi Council Master, can beat it. Or you would need to specifically prepare to fight it for years like Bane I’m which case she can one shot grandmaster Luke and Darth sidious alike as neither have reason to have ever prepared for such an ability. Not enough information usually means people use the more conservative estimations. That’s my take on why they treat Zannah the way they do anyways.

    • @2centswanted113
      @2centswanted113 Рік тому +1

      @Paul Willauer I appreciate the civility and your take. I definitely understand the point. I do believe the simple answer is proving that the opponent of Zannah has mental resistance feats while fighting or has mental calming techniques. A good example is the Sith sorceress Queen Amanoa used Sith sorcery to completely control people's minds and those of the beast riders (people say it's battle meditation, but it's sorcery). Her power was directly countered by Arca Jeths battle meditation.
      Nomi Sunrider also has Sith sorcery resistance feats in the heat of battle. Any character that also lashes out with force abilities as a response to mental tampering like Bane did. Bane, despite prepping, still fell prey to it her spell once she gained a second to use her spell. He only broke out due to Zannahs energy consumption, giving him time to use a force repulse before his mind was ripped apart. Zannahs major weakness are purely offensive strength duelists who use the environment like Bane, who don't give her a chance to use it (yes Bane uses more than strength but strength and environment is how he broke her Soresu in the final duel).

    • @paulwillauer8843
      @paulwillauer8843 Рік тому +1

      @@2centswanted113 that makes sense. My only concern is that very few would have any true feats of mental resistance because why would they. No clone wars era force wielder of note used anything like Zannah. So none of the Jedi would have a feat against it but does that mean she instantly wins? Or would just having battle mind count as a mental resistance feat?
      Personally I believe her spells would likely be a win over most Jedi in generally simply because they would be unsure of what was going on for a few seconds where Zannah could strike but that is pure speculation. We have never once seen her abilities used against anyone who is a proper jedi except On Tython. So it will work on all jedi like it did on Tython as a Jedi weapons master’s weakness to force attacks I interpret to mean literal attacks like lightning and having a weak telekinetic barrier. However I cannot support that really as it is only used once so as I said it can be interpreted both ways, either an assured victory or useless.
      I am curious though as to what you think would count as a resistance feat? Because nobody in clone wars era came across anything even close to this unless you count Volfe Karko but his spells were just illusions nothing compared to Zannah in my opinion.

    Whilst Zannah had no real engagements with light whip wielding opponents, I don't believe she would be completely unfamiliar with the weapons. Due to Banes somewhat familiarity with Githanys weapon, I do think he would have given her some training against at least the standard variant. Though I still agree with the outcome.

  • @Spectacular_Insanity
    @Spectacular_Insanity 8 років тому +24

    I did agree with this verdict. But man, you really need to quit concentrating so much on cybernetics. For Force users, excessive cybernetics start cutting too much into Force ability.
    Darth Zannah uses dark side Force tendrils, Lumiya literally melts. Game over. Lumiya's armor wouldn't stand a ghost of a chance. Bane's didn't.
    Lumiya's cybernetics wouldn't faze Zannah. If she can face the full wrath of Darth Bane, Lumiya wouldn't even compare. The main threat to Zannah would be Lumiya's modified lightwhip. Zannah was used to fighting more classical styles (barring Vaapad, which didn't exist yet). But Zannah's mastery over Sith sorcery would tip the balance, ultimately, just like the fight with Bane. Bane outclassed her in literally every other way, both physically and in lightsaber technique, but Zannah was stronger in the Force and her own mental discipline, which in a contest between high level Force users, is more important than brute strength or even skill any day, as the conclusion of their fight proved. It was also proven in Grievous and Obi-Wan's fight, where Grievous was ridiculously strong and skilled with lightsaber technique, but his lack of Force powers and Obi-Wan's superior concentration let him exploit the small openings Grievous presented. Lumiya might not get tired very easily, but her proven mental instability would push her to make a mistake far sooner than other opponents, and Zannah would be there to capitalize on the opportunity.

      The problem with Zannah's Dark side force tendrils is that she can only call upon the power when given a powerful external source of dark side energy to draw from (as pointed out above, she didn't use the ability when she first attacked Bane in the Stone Prison, when he was weaponless, just coming off a torture session, and seeking an escape). And even then, it took all of her concentration just to maintain it....
      Against Lady Lumiya, I don't see it as an issue. Her whip alone would be more than enough to dispatch Zannah before he even gets the chance to employ the power. And in a battle on even/neutral ground, there is no powerful external source of dark side power for Zannah to draw on.
      Even against Bane, he fought past the pain, continued to attack Zannah, nearly killed her (if the tendril hadn't taken his hand), subdued her, and nearly succeeded with his essence transfer. Zannah only won because she was able to resist the ability.

    Can I just say that I think Bane utterly failed at training Zannah. While I agree with his assessment that she was too physically weak to learn Djem So or Juyo, she would have easily been suitable for Ataru, Makashi and Niman, and a combined method of Soresu and Ataru would have been a near ideal choice. By focusing her training on Soresu, he basically destroyed her duelling potential. Also, that he seemingly forgot to properly teach her in the use of telekinetic attacks and force lighting was also very stupid. Yes her force magic is powerful but having more skills would have been better, and she isn`t such an awesome magician that she can purely rely on it. She only managed to beat Bane due to the dark side nexus they were fighting on, in pretty much any other situation he would have bested her. Bane is an utter failure as a teacher, and Zannah is an utter failure as a Sith Lord. No wonder that just two generations later the Rule of Two nearly ended with Darth Millenial.

    • @ArikGST

      Depends on who`s fighting her. Kenobi might not beat her (though I think he would, her spells of madness would have no severe effect on him if any at all and he is a far better duelist), but Yoda, Mace Windu, Revan, Luke Skywalker, Jaina Solo Fel, Darth Sidious, Darth Krayt, Darth Vitiate, Darth Malgus, Darth Vader? She is certainly not one of the greats. In the history of both the Jedi and the Sith were several examples of people who would stomp her. Bane himself would have murdered her if it wasn`t for the dark side nexus they were fighting on bolstering her force magic and allowing her to cast the dark side tendrils. Her spells of madness can`t defeat someone strong willed, and other than that, she barely has anything, her duelling skills are poor, and her other force abilities are standard issue and she has never shown an overly powerful application of force pushes or anything. She is a one trick pony, and if that trick fails and there is no dark side nexus she can draw from, she is toast. Her defeat of Bane was circumstancial, she didn`t defeat him with her inate skills.

    +EvanNova95 I hate too say it but I did not particularly enjoy this episode. mainly because I have noticed a pattern with every versus series video involving Darth Zannah & was able to predict how it would go before even watching it.
    What is that pattern? Well it goes something like this.
    Speaker: -Spends several minutes going on about Zannah's weaknesses & perceived weaknesses.- Oh and Zannah is good at this I suppose. -Goes back to putting Zannah down while giving convenient reasons why her strengths would fail.-
    Now don't get me wrong Zannah is rife with weaknesses and problems I don't doubt that. However I also notice how people like to use the battle on Tython as the prime example as a showing of her weakness failing too take into account that she had not completed her training and said as much later in the same novel too her master. I personally use it as an example of her skill because she
    1. Resisted the demoralizing effects of a master's application or Battle meditation.
    2. She was able to hold her own against battle meditation enhanced masters & played her adversaries against one another.
    Yes she would have ultimately lost that fight due to a lot of factors but considering how well she did despite those factors speaks volumes to her strength.
    Also her Dark Side Tentacles I personally believe it is similar to the Death Field Darth Bane employed it can be used without the abundant dark side energy it's just more exhaustive to do so, and requires a great deal of concentration so it's a best as a last resort.
    Then there is her Telekinesis applications. Yes she rarely uses it I personally believe the reason for this is primarily due too her master's training in subtlety after all non-jedi force Weilders showing off their powers often draws a lot of attention.
    I could go into my beliefs on her supposed inability to use Force Lightning but my argument would be similar to above with the addition of her determining that such abilities employed by her would have been ineffective against her opponents at the time, and a conclusion that the power can be just as dangerous to it's Weilder as shown when her master was subjected to his own force lightning as a last desperate maneuver by the Jedi Master on Tython.

      +TheNuisanceBird I wouldn't suggest this match up if I knew who would win outright. the point of a match up is to put seemingly equal combatants against each other to see who would win. now if people would put aside favoritism as I have they can give a proper verdict. I personally feel this fight can go either way.

    • @MrG582KYX
      @MrG582KYX 9 років тому +4

      I'd give it to the Jedi. Vindican is nothing to scream about in terms of his combative skill, especially next to duelists such as Kenobi and Skywalker. Malgus would prove a challenge for each Jedi however. But once either of the Jedi takes down lord Vindican, Malgus is outmatched. Kenobi takes Malgus and Skywalker takes Vindican then all Kenobi would have to do is hold Malgus off which he'd be able to do through his mastery of Soresu. Anakin's offensive is too much for Vindican and he'd be cut down in a short time. Then the pair of Jedi can use their speed, skill and their incredible team work to get past Malgus' form 5 defence. 8/10 for the Jedi in my opinion

      Ha no way. Malgus had dozens of sith and a whole army of troopers backing him up against Jedi padawans and knights. Only a few Jedi masters were there. And Kenobi and Skywalker are far above all of the Jedi present at the time of the sacking of the temple. Together, they would be able to defeat Malgus.

      +Darth Armis I would agree, but Lumiya is a rather obscure EU character and (to the best of my knowledge) hasn't been used by the YT Star Wars Versus community. This is a good way to gauge where Lumiya stands in the overall echelon of combatants, and a fight I'd been looking forward to anyway.
      I hope Lumiya's next match is against someone similarly unorthodox and powerful. Maybe Anya Kuro would do? She's a fascinating character that has only been featured in one versus so far (against Lucien Draay who she handily beat), has a wide array of obscure abilities, and held her own against Vader well past her physical prime.

    Good video, but I will point out one major thing about Darth Zannah, everything we know about her is only in her apprenticeship and up until she defeats Bane, albeit narrowly. We know nothing of her powers and abilities when she reigns as the Dark Lord of the Sith. We don't know how much more powerful she becomes. Did her lightsaber techniques improve? Did she learn other spells? Can she use her tendrils on her own? We don't actually know. So in a way, it's a clearly unfair fight, as you are pitting an apprentice vs a master. But Zannah still presents a good match and I wish we had more of her reign as Dark Lord that might have evened things up between her & Lumiya. We may never know...

    I feel like Lumiya's whip is rather predictable once you're in a duel with her for decent amount of time and most defiantly, after you survive an assault by her. The whip can go in very predicable patterns almost like the Zannah's lightsaber. Except, that I believe Zannah's arsenal is one of the best shields for Lumiya's whip.

    • @wristofkings
      @wristofkings 9 років тому +1

      +Kyle Towe Unlikely. Zannah's spells of madness would barely even distract someone with Qui Gon's calm Zen mentality, and while she has a solid Soresu defense I think Jinn's strongarm Ataru assault could ultimately overwhelm her. Could Zannah plow him with TK? Possibly, but that doesn't seem like her usual MO in combat.
      I don't understand why people think Qui Gon is weak. Standing up to Maul (who IMO has arguably superior martial skill and physical strength compared to Bane) at his prime for more than 10 minutes is quite a feat both endurance and skill-wise. He was one of the best swordsmen in the Order pre-Clone Wars era, and while not equal to Dooku or Windu he would not have been far under their level at the time.
      Zannah would do well against someone like Sora Bulq or Ventress (who can both beat Jinn), or anyone else with serious psychological weaknesses to her Sith sorcery.

    • @archades115
      @archades115 9 років тому +1

      wristofkings The basis of my comment is that Darth Zannah and Qui Gon Jinn are usually the losers in these matchups. They are punching bags. So I sarcastically suggested that Darth Zannah's best chance of victory would be against Qui Gon Jinn. But in all seriousness I do believe both characters are underrated, and I myself am a fan of Jinn. Zannah was a Dark Lady of the Sith, and Jinn one of the most renowned Jedi of his age. One does not achieve such status unless there is more to you than meets the eye. For example, Zannah's dark side tendrils. Everyone assumes she can only use it in conjunction with a dark side nexus. Even if that were true, she knew such magic before she dueled Darth Bane. Who knows what else she could do, what desperation could draw out? And Jinn? Everyone harps on about his age. Without a doubt he had begun to decline. But he was no cripple and his considerable strength and knowledge of the light side of the Force helped counter balance his age by quite a bit. But such spiritual subtleties are often lost on people.

    • @wristofkings
      @wristofkings 9 років тому +1

      Kyle Towe
      I think Qui Gon gets perpetually underrated because he is often compared to Clone Wars-era duelists who are more battle hardened and have more feats to their name--Sora Bulq, Ventress, Plo Koon etc. Had Qui Gon survived that era I think he would've continued to be at the forefront of the Order. His attachment to the Living Force would have made him a very viable warrior even past his prime. That said, Jinn was probably more renowned for that spiritual guru side of his persona.

I believe that these characters are often overlooked in terms of physical strength I would like to say just because someone does not have bulging muscles it does not mean they are physically weak and lacking in the physical ability to handle powerful strikes also if Zannah can do a 10 meter backflip with broken ribs I’m pretty sure she can handle powerful strikes without folding

    Zayne Carrick vs Ahsoka Tano (Clone Wars era [duh])
    Jarael and Ahsoka Tano (CW) vs Barris Offee and Chantique (You've only done one other team match so I think this one could be a good one.)
    General Grievous vs Darth Vader (I personally think that this battle would be over insanely fast but I just want to see it happen. :) )
    Darth Talon vs Darth Maul (CW) (assassin vs assassin)
    Darth Nihl vs The Inquisitor (Rebels) (I know this one is not much simply because there isn't a whole lot of backstory on either as well as an in-depth look on their dueling styles due to Darth Nihl only appearing in the Legacy comics and The Inquisitor from the Rebels show. I think it'll be a lot like Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto in that a lot of assumptions will have to be made.)

    Alright, I strongly disagree with this verdict for numerous reasons. First, I will say that Lumiya's analysis seemed fair, and I don't have any complaints about her to elaborate on her here. But, Zannah's analysis was very underwhelming and didn't do her character justice. So, I will state my reasons here: Physical Abilities: Here, you stated that Zannah was a frail person, easily breakable by someone with more strength. This is not true. In her final duel with Bane on Ambria, she took a kick from Bane which broke her ribs, yet was still strong enough to flip out of harm's way. And not only is Bane stronger than Zannah, but he's a strength powerhouse, one of the strongest duelists there is. Another example of Zannah's resilience is when she briefly managed to tank attacks from an orbalisk-crazed Bane, strengthening further than he already was. Lightsaber Abilities: The video did not justice to Zannah's lightsaber techniques. Often, it is said that Zannah's only real power laid on her Force powers, but she was an equally good duelist. As several people have said before me, the Duel on Tython is more of a credit to Zannah's abilities than a showing of weakness. While it is stated that Zannah would've lost against Sarro Xaj, it's not an entire loss for her. You have to remember, Zannah was fighting against the apprentice of a Jedi Weapons Master, a Jedi Knight who had dedicated his entire life to the study of lightsaber combat. On top of that, he was empowered by master-level battle meditation and had Zannah cornered. Yet, Zannah, only halfway through her training, managed to survive. It is also stated that Zannah supposedly, cannot compete with the unorthodox. Yet, all of Zannah's enemies have been unorthodox. Bane, Sarro Xaj, Farfalla, the most unorthodox of all being Set Harth. Harth was not only unorthodox in his techniques, but relentless in his attacks. Zannah did not only repel his attacks, but in fact, spotted multiple openings to kill him. She didn't take them as she was looking to train Harth, not kill him. Finally, as someone before said, Zannah did take offensive postures from time to time, she just felt uncomfortable doing so. Before moving on to the Force, concerning Lumiya, I don't think that Lumiya has ever faced an opponent with a double-bladed lightsaber. While she may adapt to the weapon, it's not likely she'd be able to use the same techniques she used against opponents with a single blade, so it's a new situation for both combatants. Force Powers: The idea that Lumiya could survive a mental assault from Zannah is preposterous and laughable for several reasons. First, you said in your video something along the lines of: "Lumiya is insane, that is not up to debate". In Zannah's final duel with Bane on Ambria, she mentally assaulted Bane. While she failed, let's look into it more detailed. Bane had come to terms with his inner demons decades prior to the battle. He no longer cared for his father, and had gotten rid of that phase completely. And if he didn't, it was buried so deep that it might as well be gone. Furthermore, Bane was one of the strongest willed people, perhaps ever. Since he was a young man back on Apatros, his will was indomitable. He could see through the lies of the corporations, he challenged suicidal orders, he endured the Sith Academy and ridicule and shunning from the masters, and all that before he even became a true Sith. He endured Githany's poison and the Ambria wastelands, and he still had enough control to stop himself from killing Zannah while on a blood rage. This is a man who's will is not easily broken. Yet, Zannah's mental assault nearly overwhelmed him. And certainly, Lumiya does not have the same mental stability and determination as Bane. While not as impressive as nearly killing Bane with her Sith magic, the fact that she drove Sarro Xaj insane in the span of a second is also of some note. While there's probably more evidence to show that Zannah would win (the last time I read the books was 7 months ago, so this what I remember), there is sufficient to show that Zannah could not only beat Lumiya, but probably crush her.

    THIS IS AWESOME!!!!! I've been waiting for someone to analyze Lumiya in a video for months! And I'm surprised and impressed that you chose to pair her with Darth Zannah. I thought that Kyp DUrron would be the best to pair against Lumiya since he made several offers to both Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker to help hunt her down during the 2nd Galactic Civil War. But Darth Zannah is perfect since both of them are the best female Sith in the Rule-of-Two. It's genius.
    Evannova, I've been watching versus your versus videos for over a year and love them. My favourite one is the Darth Tyrannus/Kyle Katarn match-up you released 7 months ago. Kyle Katarn is tied with Obi-Wan Kenobi as my favourite Jedi, and the earlier videos parring him against Darth Zannah, Darth Wyrrlok and Cin Drawling were not really a contest. I already knew Drawling's and Wyrrlok's backgrounds. Comparing them to Katarn was never a real question about who would win. I had the same misconception about Katarn's duelling skills that you elaborated on in the video and was ecstatic that he was finally paired against someone who could drive him to the brink.
    I have posted comments on Jensaarai's videos and the following description is one I know you will be interested in reading. I wrote it on his "the Battlemaster vs. the Beserker" page and wanted you to see it. I also have put a file together regarding Qui-Gon Jinn Vs. Darth Zannah. I'd love to e-mail it to you rather than post an essay like this one:
    "I think that a match between Kyle Katarn and Obi-Wan Kenobi would be a test of equals. Both of them are high-level Jedi among the best in their own generations (whether neophyte, Jedi Knight, or Master).
    Kenobi and Katarn have personally faced the Darkside multiple times, and lost their fathers to the first Major Darksiders/SIth they encountered (Morgin Katarn to Jerec, and Qui-Gon to Darth Maul [Qui-Gon was more than just a surrogate father to Kenobi]) Both of them was great masters in diplomacy, the Force, and Martial skills, and were renown among their contemporaries during an era of master Jedi.
    Kyle Katarn is the best Jedi battle-master ever in the Star Wars universe. Personally, I think only Kao Cen Darach is the only "Battle-master" in Kyle's league, Cin Drawling was more of a teacher than a master duelists (Jack -of-all-Traits, Master-of-none) while Darach and Katarn were both amazing combatants and great teachers.
    Kenobi is the most Strategic duelists, fighters, diplomats, and commanders in Star Wars: He can stall for time, find the problem in a complex situation, probe for the best option, end conflict quickly, hold the brunt of an attack while an ally works a plan, weather a storm to frustrate and exhaust and enemy, command a huge army in large-scale battles, lead strike-teams to sabotage or disrupt or distract an opposing force, or stop a criminal in a back-ally, or scythe through hundreds of efficient droids or large gangs.
    Kenobi can adapt to almost anything and continue towards his goal, even changing what he is trying to accomplish to resolve a situation (ei: going on a mission not intending to kill, but not hesitating to save someone's life by ending another. Or initially intending to turn Darth Vader back into Anakin Skywalker, and accepting the need to fight and kill him when Vader refused the light-side).
    Katarn and Obi-Wan are both tanks that can take a lot of punishment, and I mean a lot on Jedi-standards. Neither are unstoppable Juggernauts like Darth Malgus and Darth Vader. Both of them are Specialists in their chosen Lightsaber forms (Soresu and Djem So), and have mastered multiple other techniques to enhance their skills.
    Kenobi mastered and refined Ataru under Qui-Gon Kinn's tutelage, and was a better match for Darth Maul than Qui-Gon was. He applied Shii-Cho, and Niman blade-work, tactics, and approaches constantly. And he was recognized by his own contemporaries as THE master of the 2nd most classic and widely-practiced lightsaber Technique within the Jedi: Soresu "Who is the greater master, the inventor of a killing form, or the master of a classic form". Evan Kenobi's mastery of Ataru, the number 1 most popular lightsaber form, reflects his supplemental abilities as above the master level.
    Katarn learned the Falling-Lead Technique and is constantly depicted utilizing acrobatics. while he fought Jerec's darkjedi. Also he mastered Strong-Style, Fast-Style, and Medium-Style an earned the position of Jedi Battle-Master, which he was awarded by Luke Skywalker himself instead of Corran Horn or Kam Solar who developed the 3-Ring Defence. Katarn also practiced and master Djem So later in his prime, and was named to Jedi High-Council, the only known Jedi or Sith Battle-Master to be a member of the Council.
    Both individuals were naturally powerful Force-users, who touched the Darkside, rejected it, and continued to face it on multiple occasions. Their own Force-skills even reflect their own philosophies and approaches to life.
    "Abilities are not inherently Good or Evil, it's how you use them".-Kyle Katarn.
    "It is an energy field and something more. An aura that at once controls and obeys. It is a nothingness that can accomplish miracles." -Obi-Wan Kenobi.
    Also, neither one would have had a serious lightsaber duel with an opponent like each other.
    Most of Kyle's sparring opponents would have known him and his skill personally, and he would known them and theirs. The greatest enemies Katarn defeated, Dashan and Jerec, were strategists and tacticians in their own right, but not near Kenobi's level and they called on rage and brutality in battle. Darth Caedus knew Katarn for years and was extremely more powerful than Katarn. Still Katarn was strong and powerful enough for Darth Caedus to consider him a really and dangerous threat. He was considered one of the best in an era of greats. The Jedi during the New Jedi Order faced more dangers from the Sith, Galactic Wars, and threats outside of the galaxy than any other Jedi Order, and they becoming stronger with every victory. Kyle Katarn was involved in every conflict from the 1st & 2nd Galactic Civil Wars to the Yuuzhan Vong and Swarm Wars, to the Abeloth Crisis and everything in between. He was one of the best in an era of greats.
    Obi-Wan Kenobi was constantly surprised in his fights, by facing a Sith with a rare double-bladed lightsaber as a Padawan, and duelling his own Apprentice/Brother at the end of the Clone Wars. Kenobi was arguably in more lightsaber duels throughout his life than any other Jedi of his time: constant practice duels, dozens of duels with Ventress and General Gervious, several encounters with Darth Tyrannus. 5 recorded duels with Darth Maul throughout both of their lives, 1 against Dark-side Ashoka Tano, 2 with Darth Vader, 1 against Pre Vizla, and 1 against A'Sharad Hett on Tatooine.
    All of these individuals were met in different situations, at different times, with various skills, and carrying degrees of familiarity with Kenobi. Also, the ones with the most familiarity with Kenobi would have known of his evident weak Force-shield but rarely capitalized on it. But Kenobi did not encounter a cautious powerhouse like Katarn, who also used both Light and Dark side powers without touching the darkside itself.
    This match-up would be the biggest contest of equals out of any Versus-video made before."-9 months ago (edited for spelling errors several times)
    "Kyle Katarn vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi would be a contest of the Old Jedi Order vs. the New Jedi Order.
    Kenobi embodies the strength, fortitude, and values of the Old Jedi Order pre-Order 66. He is a powerful and insightful individual who is acknowledged for dozens of amazing accomplishments: the 1st Jedi in 1,000 years to face a Rule-of-Two Sith and survive, one of the Republic's 10 High Generals, "The Negotiator", "The Master of Soresu", the mentor of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, hundreds (if not 1,000) successful missions throughout his lifetime, one of only 3 Jedi-High Council Members to survive Order 66.
    Yet Kenobi is possibly the most humble individual in the Star Wars Saga, and during a time when the Jedi Council was borderline arrogant and complacent. Even after his death Kenobi would reflect on his life with humility during his conversations with Luke.
    (Darth Maul was still taught the collective knowledge, principles, methods, and skills the Rule-of-Two had consolidated over 1,000 years despite not being a true apprentice. Any Sith/Dark-siders connected with the Rule-of-Two is a force to be reckoned with: Darth Maul, Ventress, Mara Jade, Lumiya, Darth Tyrannus, Sedriss)
    Kenobi was orthodox and determined, always putting his dedication to fellow Jedi and the galaxy first, despite finding several love interests and experiencing unimaginable loss: of Qui-Gon, women he loved like Satine and Siri, the entire Jedi Order, and Anakin. Kenobi embodies the strength of the Old Jedi Order, and carried ii onto the founder of the New Jedi Order.
    Kyle Katarn is arguably the perfect example of the New Jedi Order's power, capacity, and philosophy. His philosophy regarding both the Dark and Light sides of the Force being more tied to mentalities and ideals rather than abilities is very common among the Masters and Knights of Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order. Katarn also learned and developed his Force powers on his own outside of a formal institution, and chose the ways of the Jedi after declining membership out of responsibility and cautious fear of what he would do if he became a Dark Jedi.
    Katarn defeated Two powerful threats to the Rebel Alliance, New Republic and the Jedi in Desann and Jerec. He was both a powerful warrior, a realist (acknowledged by Luke Skywalker to be the most politically minded member of the High Council), and both a humble and unorthodox individual who was insightful and casual: "First off, just call me Kyle-titles make my skin crawl. Secondly, you're not 'serving under me'. I'm gonna teach you, and you're gonna learn. That's it."
    The New Jedi Order took a greater active role in the galaxy and fought more galactic conflicts over 1 century than their predecessors did over 1 millennium. Katarn was always at the front of these conflicts, and used various means-to-an-end methods while focusing on the intent and results behind them rather than justifying questionable actions, or narrowing the options to adhere rigidly to a code developed during peace.
    Kyle Katarn also struggled with uncertainty over his capacity as a Jedi. He did not doubt his abilities or the good he could accomplish, rather he was concerned over the destruction he might cause if he became like Jerec. After over coming this fear and becoming a full Jedi, Katarn remained humble and doubted his capacity as a teacher, before successfully training Jaedan Korr and even tutoring Mara Jade Skywalker in the Light-side of the Force.
    Both Kenobi and Katarn embodied the respective ideals and strengths of their respective Orders. Both were named to the Jedi High Council during an era of Great Jedi Masters, and remained humble despite their amazing accomplishments. Both of them struggled with an against both Darkjedi and Sith throughout their lives, and were respected for prevailing against their challenges. Any versus video between them would be a contest of the Old Jedi Order vs. the New Jedi Order, apart form being one seriously awesome match-up."-written 9 months ago (edited multiple times for spelling errors).

    Then perhaps her doppelgangers ability to redirect the force of an attack back at the attacker, is a form or variation of Tutaminis being used remotely.
    The doppelganger itself is energy being manipulated be a force user. This means that there's still a kind of direct, physical connection to the person.
    Expanding on this idea, it should stand to reason that creating something (such as the doppelgangers) which are able to operate remotely, might then allow the user to channel most, if not all, of their powers through it.

      1) My gut tells me that Maul would be a pain in the ass, but he would ultimately lose after getting a few good hits on Dooku.
      2) Same as 1 though the difference is that Oppress would be like a fifth grader flinging paper clips at the back of your head.
      3) Pretty sure jensarai1 already did that one, though it would be neat to see another opinion.
      4) If we're talking Revenge of the Sith Kenobi, then Qui-Gon has no chance. Obi-Wan would thrash his old master while Jinn wouldn't even be able to get past his students use of Soresu.
      5) Antoine Bandele already did that one.
      6) Same as 1 and 2 but quicker.
      7) Eh I think Imma have to give this to Sidious. Plagueis is an academic, while Sidious at least has more free time to practice his lightsaber sequences.

    this and the Darth bane Vs Hoth videos are terrible completely ignore vital facts and take fights from early days of both as gospel for prime, I'd reread the books a few times, bane beat the sigh battle master and Hoth was his Jedi equal at a time when the sith was winning the war, hoth didn't fight many sith masters and only took on accolites and assassins. zannah Improves greatly after the second book which is where you get half of this from evidence of this is actually in her battle with bane, shortly before this battle you use as evidence of her lacking in sword skills she was completely bested by bane and almost killed in seconds, the third book she holds her own...

    • @DanieleMulas-up7np
      @DanieleMulas-up7np 4 роки тому

      I can concede the Bane VS Hoth video, as that was way too much reliant on speculation. But Zannah is overrated as fuck. Sarro had her backing down, tired and cornered, after the idiot Othone disengaged. And against Bane, she tripped on a grave and he smashed her ribs on their final duel.
      Zannah defenders are almost as laughable as Reylo fans lol

    Some people are debating about an Obi-Wan/Zannah match-up, despite GreyJedi's masterpiece. Here are the stats (in my opinion):
    Lightsaber Skills: Both are masters of Soresu, but Kenobi took it to a degree that completely surpasses Zannah's. He also has a great amount of skill in other areas, such as Shi-Cho and Ataru. He'd quickly recognize Zannah's style due to being so much better at it and exploit the weaknesses in it.
    Edge: Kenobi (1-0)
    Physique: Once again, Kenobi stomps here. He is, to quote Jensaari, a glutton for punishment who just won't fucking die. Zannah may as well be made of glass in comparison, though I do give her some credit for surviving her master's training and being able to keep up a good defense wall, but if she gets hit, she goes down rather quickly.
    Edge: Kenobi (2-0)
    Force Abilities: I'll admit that Zannah has more raw power, but her greatest spells take time to use, and given Kenobi's talent with a lightsaber and his intellect, it's likely not going to help her much. Therefore, she gets the edge based solely on raw power.
    Edge: Zannah (2-1)
    Equipment: Admittedly, this is another point in Zannah's favor. Kenobi's lightsaber is standard in design, whereas her's is designed to be wielded only by her.
    Edge: Zannah (2-2)
    Verdict: The scores seem even, but ultimately, Kenobi has the edge where it matters. As I said before, Zannah's force abilities would be rendered moot because she needs time to charge them up, and her illusions likely wouldn't help her much. Kenobi would suss out her style rather quickly and defeat her, though it would likely take a while for him to finally break through her stubborn defenses and by the time he wins, he's going to be exhausted.
    Winner: Kenobi

    About Zannah's tendrils...during their first fight, Bane baited her into using her lightsaber. On her ship she specifically said, "Next time we meet, Master, I will show you what I can do." As for calling on the power of lake Nath, didn't Bane mention that he was unable to do so when he was poisoned by Githany in the first book because the power had been locked away by Master Thon. If Zannah did so in the third book, it's probably a continuity error.

But lumiya’s cybernetics give her the obvious advantage physically. I’d say they are both also equal as political manipulators, though she is probably superior to nihl as a combat strategist, as when he doesn’t win immediately he starts hitting a wall.

    Actually exposure to hard vacuum is not as lethal as many think. If the decompression isn't instant and you have your mouth open your lungs will be fine. Human skin is airtight so nothing will happen. The main dangers come from radiation and from micro impacts with objects. However the forces of hard vacuum are not as great as many people believe. After all we live in 1 bar of pressure and hard vacuum is 0. If you are 3,5 meters (roughly 10 feet) underwater that is already 11 bar or 10 times as much difference.
    So in short: people don't explode when exposed to hard vacuum. After all the forces that are on your body are only a tenth of being 3,5 meters underwater.

    In the video you categorized Darth Zannah as, to quote Jensaarai, "enslaved to form", and unprepared to deal with "duelists who balanced their options and change up their methods. Adapting to the needs of the moment rather than relying on a consistent style to see them through." I agree completely and have personally explored this in depth. I believe that this weakness would leave her very susceptible to defeat against one of the most popular but often criticized swordsmen in Star Was: Qui-Gon Jinn.
    Jinn's innovate and unique sword style cannot be categorized or describe as "typical" at all, and his adaptive approach to countering the needs of the moment rather than depend on multi-step strategies is almost directly opposite to Darth Zannah's technique. Also, Qui-Gon drops his guard to focus and use combative telekinetic skills, and Darth Zannah does the same to execute her Sith Spells. Qui-Gob's initiative and decisiveness would easily leave her no breathing room to use these powers and I believe his mastery of telekinesis is fast enough to gather enough power to attack Darth Zannah than Darth Zannah's efforts to gather power for a spell.
    I've written a 5-page essay on this topic. It also includes an in-depth analysis of the Tatoiine duel between Jinn and Darth Maul. This duel showed a lot of Jinn's skills and strategic insight that have been ignored by everyone else.
    EvanNova, please message your e-mail address to me so I can send this file instead of making another post over 1,000 words long.
