We’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of Insomniac by releasing a double LP pressed on translucent orange vinyl and includes the cover art printed on prismatic silver foil. LP 1 is a remastered version of the album. LP 2 includes live tracks from the legendary 1996 Prague show on the A Side along with an etching on the B Side. FUN FACT: At 1:39 The word "shit" in the line "wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one gets filled first" was left uncensored since the show's production team could not understand the lyrics to the new song (closed caption typed it as "unintelligible lyrics") and were not aware that the band had sworn on live TV.

This one from SNL and their performance of Armitage Shanks from 94 MTV VMA's are wild. Who else would have #1 singles and yet choose to play unknown and unreleased songs on their biggest TV appearances? Gotta love that punk spirit.

Dude the guitar tone is completely nuts. It's just so thick, sharp and stupidly distorted, just listen to those chugs in the intro. It's crazy how Billie managed to get such a saturated and rich sound, especially back then when there wasn't a lot of guitar gear variety.
It's the pickup he but in the bridge it's a Seymour Duncan they're great for distortion
It's definitely my favourite sound Billie has had. It has a lot to do with his amps, which are modded heads. Also his pickup, installed on an angle to get a different kind of sound.
The guitar tone is great but that Snare sound tho 😩
One of my fav dist tones of the 90s. Hearing them play this live was as huge as it was here .

Once again, let me say, my friends and I used to see these guys for free, or maybe a $5 cover.
That being said, I'll never forget the time we were kicking it with Billie-Joe and my buddy started patting him, BJ, on the head and asked him, "How do you get it to be so crunchy?", meaning his hair. I started laughing so hard. Seeing BJ's bleached-out crunchy looking hair in this vid reminded me of that moment.

They weren't the "super stars" they are now so I knew we'd be chattin' with him again so I didn't bother asking my buddy "what did he say, what did he say?"

We used to go to all the SoCali punk shows between 1990 & 1994 ('94 was when my first daughter was born, so the going to see shows every weekend basically stopped). Used to see Guttermouth (used to drink 40's with Mark Adkins), Offspring, Green Day, The Muffs, Less Than Jake, No Doubt, Rancid, Bad Religion, etc.....
Hell, my buddy and I are on the back cover of Face To Face's first album.
I do know that Face To Face remembers us, cause my best buddy moved to Seattle after H.S. graduation, and all through the '90's, when ever Face To Face were in the Seattle area for a tour date, they'd stay at my buddy's place.
Now, I'm almost 47, have 6 adult kids, so me seeing shows are very far a few between these days.

@@Jandelll It kept getting damaged around the Nimrod era so he slowly stopped using it, and soon switched to Fender basses which he uses to this day. But Mike still has his 90's Gibson bass and he even played it for a couple shows on the 21st Century Breakdown tour. Also for the Revolution Radio tour, Mike got a black G3, same model as his bass from this era, for some of the older songs. You can see it in his rack if you watch his Ernie Ball String Theory video.

I saw them in concert in New Hampshire two days before this performance. It was the tail end of a long and hard tour and they looked well worn but the energy did not flag for a second. They were like an explosion. Hard to even describe. The show was in the gymnasium at UNH. Still one of the best memories.

I watched this when it aired. I wish I was old enough to have known Green Day before Dookie dropped, but at 14 it changed my life! Forever grateful for this band. Insomniac still my favourite album too. Hardest hitting album out of all of them! I love the whole discography (save a couple dud songs), but Insomniac is still my fave!

This is my favorite Green Day era by far!
Tight performance - sounds as polished as the studio version on Insomniac. I think I have played this album the most of all the CD's and tapes of bands I've had in my time.

Green day was the band that make me love the music because with this band I started to collect (download)CDs when I was 13 , now a heard a lot of genres and it's all for green day for that reason I have an special feeling every time I listen their albumd ( 1039 - 21 century and Some for the trilogy)

I don't care if you are a huge fan or not, you like FOAMF or not. But to say it doesn't sound like Green Day, you're wrong. Because GD was the one who wrote it, performed it on stage and most importantly, THEY LIKE IT. They don't have to satisfy everyone, create identical albums. Instead, they can try new sounds and be happy with what they're doing
It's because they where trolling their record label. It was a their last album w their record label so their next albums will probably sound more "Green Day" like.

The reason "Shit" isn't censored is because at the time the producers couldn't understand the lyrics being said, so in 1994 the subtitles said "Unintelligible lyrics"
