Having been Catholic for the first 19 years of my life, then trying out several prostestant faiths, (Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian and non-demonitational), I am so glad I found Lutheranism. (the LCSM branch, not the liberal, non-Christrian ELCA branch). It is so scriptural and finally gave me the peace that passes all understanding.

Just like Luther! You left the Church Christ founded on the Authority of the Apostles for a church founded by a man that committed apostasy! 😂

I've talked to many priests and they had to admit that many Catholic beliefs are non-Biblical. For example, they had no scripture to back up a sinless Mary, when confronted with the many OT and NT scriptures say "all have sinned". That's just one point, there are many others.@@atgred

Please site the verses that say Mary was sinless. Luther was a sinner himself and his beliefs and views, like that of all men, are imperfect. He also said, "Mother Mary, like us, was born in sin of sinful parents, but the Holy Spirit covered her, sanctified and purified her so that this child was born of flesh and blood, but not with sinful flesh and blood. In my readings about this I find Luther all over the map, with my guess being that due to his Catholic upbringing, he experienced some cognitive dissonance about Mary. I will stick with scripture and the words of Christ, that flesh gives birth to flesh. Mary wasn't conceived by the HS. I go by the Bible to the best of my ability.@Maximilian010

@lukewilliams448 No it does not; you're reading something that is not there. Flesh gives birth to flesh, so her parents would have had to be sinless. Grace means God’s favor toward the unworthy” or “God’s benevolence on the undeserving". Mary the mother of Jesus was a godly woman, but she was not without sin. Only Jesus was without sin. Jesus “had no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21). “In him is no sin” (1 John 3:5). Nothing like this is ever said about Mary or anyone else. Jesus Christ is fully human, but He is also fully God (John 1:1). He is the Lamb of God, “without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:19), a title and description no other person can claim.

@lukewilliams448 True, God can do what he wants, and if He wanted us to believe something it would be clearly stated in His word. Nowhere does it call Mary the new Eve. Priests I know also call her the co-redeemer; what a slap in the face to our sinless lamb, Jesus Christ.

I've been LCMS member since birth. I am saddened by some synods of Lutheranism, namely gay, trans, and female pastors. Completely not scripture.

How can you be saddened by "those" forms of Lutheranism. I am concerned that LCMS takes a sexist view by not allowing female pastors.

@@stevekohl5351because that’s heresy. Pastors act in the stead of Christ, who was fully MAN and fully God. In the epistles, it is written that men solely should lead the church concerning teaching and preaching. Women can be deaconesses, and many other roles in the church, just not pastors. Just as men are called to lead their families in the faith, so men are also responsible to lead congregations in the faith.

I am concerned that the videos I see about Lutheranism are too often discussed by LCMS pastors rather than ELCA pastors.

ELCA is the largest branch of The Lutheran Church in America. They’ve embraced homosexuality in a very troubling way. I would consider the ELCA to be very Left-Wing and they should not represent the Lutheran Church to the greater world. I mean no disrespect, we are all still brothers in Christ. Our first responsibility is to The Trinity and the Word Of God. It is our duty to follow the teachings of God’s Word, not the world. Yes, we are ALL sinners, but we don’t embrace our sin, but ask for forgiveness and seek The Lord’s strength to overcome our sin.

because nobody takes ELCA seriously they have so many heresies and some congregations are blatantly not Christian (see the sparkle creed). LCMS is a large mainline branch that upholds to actual theology and not falling to the theological liberals who seek to disfigure church into selfish sin-affirming gathering places.

Saying that Lutheranism is set apart from other denominations has nothing to do with why Lutheranism is true. In Timothy it says "that the church is the pillar and foundation of the faith". Paul was not writing to Lutherans who believed in Sola Scriptura. When Paul wrote to the Ephesians he wrote to the Orthodox Church in Ephesus. That church is still there today. If you want to argue that Lutheranism is true, then you have to demonstrate through sound arguments that the Lutheran belief system conforms to the mindset of the church in say the first thousand years of church history.
This video is demonstrating nothing. A Presbyterian could make the same video on what sets Presbyterianism apart from other denominations. It has nothing to do with why anything in the Protestant matrix is true. If you're going to claim that your system is a reformation then by what standard is it a reformation? I can give you one example of why Protestantism is not a reformation. The doctrine of penal substitution in Protestantism is not the view of the early church. They did not teach that God had to be satisfied by some binding standard greater than God himself. That the Son of God had to pay back the Father. None of this will you find in the patristic tradition.
You need to make another video explaining why Lutheranism is consistent with the testimony of history. Do you actually possess the mindset of the church?
