I have watched so many videos on how to cut wood and yours is the first one to actually say that the knife doesn't work with the mobile app!!!!!
I have been sat here for 3 hours with only 30% off the project done because I'm on the wrong setting as it wouldn't find bass wood on the materials..presumed it was because I was in the UK so selected a different wood type to see how it went..2 hours later I'm googling to find out what I've done wrong.
Cricut seriously need to put in some form of instructions!!

First I would like to say you do a very good job on your videos. second I have found that thin strips of double sticky sided tape is a great helper for sticking things down and keeps the edge bare of your project , the only issue is that it sometimes the tape is hard to get off the project back

Yes. You will need the black housing and blade. I think there is one that comes with both. However, basswood can only be cut with the knife blade. Those are two different blades. You will need a housing with the knife blade as well as it doesn't fit on the standard housings.

Ok, np, I found out you can't. Can you buy any chance leave some links in your videos or send some links to places where I can buy good durable balswood and basswood in the UK? Which would be suitable for the Cricut Maker 3?

    • @AngieHolden

The only basswood I like is the Cricut brand and I have tried several. I don't like balsawood at all for my projects so I have no recommendation there.

Great tutorial. For me there are far better options than this. Its pretty half the effort for standard. I'm just referring to the option of cutting with wood. Yeah not for me. The rest seems fairly decent. Is it possible to have the cutting happen at a specific point like the centre? This would be great for a geometric paper layered piece.

You might also want to mention that you need to calibrate the knife blade. It also would have been nice to see a design instead of shapes to show how it works on real life projects. Just giving some suggestions. Other wise, your instruction was good.

My guess would be those are balsa wood? You would just upload designs you already have or sketch something, take a picture, and upload that.

Guess what everyone? Not ALL Cricut Makers will cut wood. I learned that the hard way and it is EXTREMELY frustrating considering I spent the money on a Maker, invested in all the blades, including the Knife Blade. I have the Design Space for iPad and am charged the SAME amount as the Desktop, but I can’t use the knife blade nor cut ANYTHING the knife blade can cut. Cricut is a deceptive company.

    • @AngieHolden

It took months to research what it does and how to use it before I spent $$$. Cricut wasn’t deceptive- you didn’t research properly

Nonsense! The Cricut cannot cut wood. I bought the most expensive Cricut machine, and it couldn't cut even balsawood, unless you let it run for several hours to cut the thinnest balsawood.
.....Do not buy this machine to cut anything except paper and THIN card stock. Buy a laser engraver/cutter or a CNC cutter. Those work.
