I 100% agree with comments on Jalen Green needs to be pure a SG off the ball. He will drop 25pts every game, and much more effective. Plus… Reed is looking great as a PG, he has nice handles and smooth. He just has to learn from Fred on how to guide the offense and call plays better.
Jalen Green is probably one of the quickest most agile players with the ball in his hands and up there with guys like Fox and Maxey and you want him to be a off ball player? Did you know Jalen Green had a a higher 3pt percentage on step backs than spot ups last season? It's good Jalen Green can improve his off ball element but he's going to have to excell both on ball and off ball to become a star and for this team to succeed. He's the best player on the team in breaking down defenses off the dribble on the perimeter. Reed has issues creating separation off the dribble.
By the end of the season I'll bet money over the fact that Jalen Green and FVV will lead the team in primary pnr ball handling possessions. So Green will still be on ball a lot.
@@farhan007 reed will make better decisions with the ball. I agree Jalen needs to be good at both because he’s so good at breaking down defences but at the end of the day I would rather the ball in sengun amen or reeds hands instead because I know they will make the right decision every time. If Jalen can become a player that can bail you out when the offence stagnates that would be perfect
When Alpi checked out for the last time, all of the coaches were smiling and congragulating him. I believe this foul merchant thing was a deliberate attempt to maybe mold him closer to Embiid as you alluded to a couple of times. They seemed so proud of him and it excited the hell out of me, ngl.
I definitely agree with you that to me that's the core. Jalen, amen, Reed Shepherd and ALP. Shepherd and Jalen are your perimeter shot creators amen plays the Draymond role of being a Swiss army knife Anders secondary playmaker and ALP is the center you run the offense through.
Jalen Green also has some of the most explosive separation off the dribble in the league. He's always going to be better with the ball than off ball but it's good he can improve his off ball game.
@@farhan007 Exactly. That's why the better he gets off-ball the more elite he'll become. He won't slow down our offense and we can give him the ball at the end of games. If he can find his sweet spot between the 2. I don't want to see any more top 25 under 25 and his name not on it.
Completely agree dude. Jalen being an efficient off ball guard makes the future lineup of Reed - amen - sengun - Jalen - Tari or bari depending on who shoots the corner 3 better - absolutely elite and title contenders
Jalen looked great against Pelicans, Utah and Spurs. Steven Adams also helps Jalen with space. But against to be fair a top defense OKC he was 3-12 fg and 3-9 on 3s. Like you've said Frank he needs a bag for the tougher teams. Can he get a counter or two this season? Still an improvement if he can dominate against weaker defenses. There is still hope he can develop a bag. He really needs to do that this season. I am glad he is looking much better to start.
I really think Jalen can sustain a 38-40+% 3 point percentage for a season. It looks that smooth, comfortable, and confident than it was in his first couple of seasons
On a night when Jalen would likely struggle if Reed could take it over from him, it terms off ball shooting that would be so cool. And in a night where both get really hot with Alpi cooking as well, teams are gonna be destroyed.
Not sure I'd agree with that. Jalen is nowhere near as good as Kobe and never will be. Sengun on the other hand is probably going to be better than Gasol.
That's wrong way to look at it. Jalen is another player with good and bad sides. We need to accept him as he is, and utilize his abilities as good as we can.
Said it before, love your analysis. Done any coaching? Question: my feeling is that the depth of talent on the team will ultimately mean we need to increase pace a lot, and that Ime’s defensive priorities will serve as more laying the foundation/muscle memory than emphasis at that time. Do you agree?
I think ball movement more than pace for the sake of pace will be better for everyone.. pace doesn’t necessarily mean good outcomes, pace with a purpose like running off stops, attacking before the defense is set, getting into actions before the defense loads up.. I think that’s good pace.. rushing into a bad shot isn’t good pace. Ball movement is more important to me, and that comes with collective IQ, which I still think we lack. And no coaching, I do teach so I guess and love hoops.. so I see the game from a teachers perspective
I like Reed paired with Adams in the backcourt and alongside Amen. Because of Reed horrible on ball defense, you are going to have to surround him with guys who can defend and protect the paint. As far as Jalen goes, this is the reason why have been saying for 2 years that Jalen and ALP wont work. Jalen needs to ball to take advantages of his strengths which is speed and quickness. ALP needs the ball to take advantage of his strength which is post up in isolation. The two styles dont mix, and neither one is good OFF BALL.. again Sacramento kings exact same problem. Im old enough to rember Francis playing with Yao and the rockets chose Yao and built around his style with Mcgrady
Jalen under the right conditions is lethal: an opponent with weak center and bad perimeter defense. I think we should transition him to bench to maximize his efficiency. He punishes the opponent when they are weaker from the perimeter with quick shots.

Agreed. He has never been a PG so get the ball out of his hands. If he can keep taking and making these good looks then he can be our SG afterall.

Awesome, awesome ft attempt analysis of Alpi. I can’t wait to steal it and pass it off as if I did it to all my friends.

Simply the best Rockets content!
I would be very happy for the Rockets if they manage to WIN at least one play-off game this year.
If Green can be more Curry and less Kyrie. He's going to be elite. Green off-ball scoring ability is key.
