- The NBA Has An Alperen Sengun Problem
Alperen Sengun is looking to be a really great big man for the Houston Rockets and on his way to become an all-star. His partnership with Jalen Green and Fred VanVleet is going to make Sengun a problem. Alperen Sengun passing has been his biggest skill as well as his footwork and scoring.

Alpi had three Rockets coaches with him all summer in Turkey and worked on his body tirelessly. As Ime Udoka alluded to, he is much more lean and strong compared to last year and also quicker on his feet. He is an All-Star this year, I would be shocked if he wasn't.
Dont be shocked. He is too inconsistent and bad on defense, his team plays better when he is not on the court, Alpi still has a lot to learn to be anywhere near an All-Star.
@@uzeirdautbegovic1148 you clearly don't watch him or the Rockets. They had a top 5 defense with him on the court and they even regressed in quality when he got off with the injury. He is not a bad defender, he is gonna disspell that nonsense quick this season. Stop repeating the propaganda of haters and just watch him
@@hazorg16 I watched every single game of his the last season and didn't notice any improvements in his game, he is very inconsistent, you obviously like him too much to see the reality.
@uzeirdautbegovic1148 "didn't notice any improvements"....the guy was a top 3 finalist for most improved player in the league even though he was injured and out for the season🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@claymanandmore You just proved that you don't watch him or the Rockets at all..
Nowitzki + Hakeem + Jokic
Whoa whoa whoa... Hakeem was a defensive guru... stop
@@blahblahco.5834 Nowitzki + Hakeem + Jokic divided by 3

I would give up on Green to be the other half of that duo. Jalen even if he's efficient (which he is not) is not a good defender or playmaker so his impact on the game is minimal outside of his scoring
The hope is since he's still 22 and he showed progress near the end of last season with polishing up his playmaking and scoring that he continues that progress. Wouldn't give up on him just yet
@@HoopsWithNick im a rockets fan and while i agree with you he’s still young and can improve. The opportunity isn’t there anymore and it’s time for him to get paid. If he accepts a small contract then sure he can have more leeway and time to improve but if he asks for a max then he needs to show max player level impact now which means impacting the game in more than one way and doing it consistently. Also there is so much competition on the rockets for minutes so he also has to prove his impact off-ball which he struggles with at times. Basically like 5 things have to change for Green to be that guy and its just too much to put hope in.
Better defender, better playmaker, more consistent, more efficient, better shot selection, more engaged off ball, less turnovers. Like this is too much to ask
Lou Williams is his ceiling
if only he had better team mates. It's his 3rd season and Rockets have a mediocre team around him who doesn't understand who to utilize Alpi.
Sengun probably just needs to polish his overall offense and be more disciplined on defense to be solidified as an all-star. He already stands out, the potential is still very high so long as they build around him
Although Sengun has decent defensive awareness, I believe he still needs quicker legs in defense which he should improve to let him more reliable switch defender.
Moreover, a better solid body will probably make him a better rim protector as he has high basketball IQ not only in offense also in defense. So he might need to work on his muscle mass a bit more.
Finally polishing his shooting might be a great asset for Sengun especially in mld-range where he is already OK. Everybody criticising his 3 pointers, but this dude needs time and it will be unfair to expect him to improve in all parameters ln short term and all at once. I believe being a good and consistent mid-range shooter is more vital to be a "core center" in the league. And also will create some other extra offensive choices not only for him but also for his team.
Of course being a reliable 3 point shooter will ease to put himself among "elite centers", but I believe my above points may have more priority for the time being.
(Great analysis Nick, keep up good work)
👏👍💪😂
I think he will dominate at the 4 when he gets the opportunity. Will benefit greatly with Adams.

Even if Alperen does everything he says, Houston cannot be champions without another superstar player
Big likes just for the MJF background music 😂
Song will always be goated😂
Jalen Green won't be a Rocket past this season. He might get traded by the deadline. Sengun, Shepherd, Thompson, Whitmore and Eason are the future.
Agree with your assessment, but what about Jabari Smith, Jr. He is a good 3 & D Big.
@@marcusnorman3179 He didn't look good at the start of this season
@@marcusnorman3179 I just can't see him long term. I think he's already reached his ceiling. He's not gonna get opportunities for offense here and he'll want out.
He's not a problem, he's the solution
My goat Alpi ❤
he reminds me anderson varejao
Time for the Rockets to blast off! We have too much young talent to be a 0.500 team.
Rockets finish top four in West. Along with one of Kings or Pels. Couple top teams are gonna slide. Wolves or Mavs will be a play-in team.
He will be great no doubt. The only question for me is: Can he survive a whole Playoff-Run at the 5?
Defensively i dont know if he can be what he needs to be for the rockets when they try to contend
All star

Rockets literal play style right now is Run and Gun. Sengun just doesn't mesh well with this kind of playstyle. He clogs the lane as well and cant even shoot. He would be good on a team that plays him like the Joker. The ball really stagnates with him.
