There has never been a more iconic ship reveal than the opening scene of Star Wars Episode 4. . . . . . . the gasps of awe back in '77 as this giant form just kept filling the screen . . . . . . . ive never experienced anything like it since. . . . . . . 😮
Agreed, it's the yardstick that all others are measured by, and blew my 9-year old self away back in '77. I had the good fortune to see both the Tantive IV and Devastator filming miniatures several years back, and I will never stop finding it funny that the Tantive IV model is twice the size of the Devastator in reality.
One of the reason it was so memorable, was the angle it was shot from. Science fiction films had never filmed a ship from below with the craft flying into shot from seemingly behind the viewer. And yes there was definitely an audible gasp from the audience when that scene played out
The whole scene was beautiful, all the LCARS displays lighting up really gave me and millions of us I'm sure..."the feels"...they really did it justice.
@TheCormTube fun trivia, the joke about him missing the carpet was because throughout the series the carpet kept coming up and they would constantly trip on it. Part of the carpet even made it into an episode when it had pulled up.
Oh yes, absolutely. Even though it was the first Star Trek movie I ever saw at 7 years old, and I had seen it literally hundreds of times since,... seeing it during a screening at the STLV convention last year, the moment still had tears running down my face. Easily the greatest moment, and the only appearance of Mr. Michael Okuda's first ever production work.
There's a lot of sci-fi porn going off in here, but no one's yet mentioned arguably the two greatest reveals that happened to not only come from the same movie, but the same sequence. The battle in the Mutara Nebula from Star Trek II. Seeing the Enterprise blindly roll in right of screen then down and behind to the Reliant gives me chills. In the same sequence, after Kirk and crew remember that there are 3 dimensions in the world...seeing the Enterprise rise up behind Reliant in a game of space peek-a-boo. Goosebumps. Splendid!
The arrival of the Prometheus, which if I'm not mistaken was expected, was overshadowed a few minutes later by one of the most awesome sequences ever on screen. When O'Neill sat down in the chair and activated all the drones and they streamed up into space by the thousands, just shredding the Goa'uld fleet, that was friggin GLORIOUS.
I'd like to add when Galactica first found Pegasus, the exchange with Adama and Admiral Caine (Michelle Forbes) was pretty special. The tension suddenly relieved when we find out we're all one big happy fleet. Thank you too for the 1701-D in second, best thing I'd seen in years when she came back.
The Roci's first launch from the Donnager is, at least in my eyes, the ship's best entrance. The PDCs tearing into the Protogen soldiers as their small-caliber rounds can barely spark off the hull is an incredible turning point for the Cant survivors.
Pegasus saving Galactica would have been my number two spot, only beaten for the top spot by the Adama Manoeuvre over New Caprica. Not just for the visual spectacle of 6 million tons of battlestar burning through the atmosphere, spewing Vipers as she plummeted towards the ground, but for the emotianal, air punching payoff too after cliffhanging us at the end of Season 2 and giving us months suspense between seasons and then weeks of build up, wondering how the hell Adama was going to pull off the rescue. But hey, this isn't my list
Babylon 5 "Endgame". The EAS Apollo jumps out of hyperspace and unloads everything on the orbital defense platform that's about to devastate the Eastern Seaboard of North America, just in time to save the EAS Agamemnon which is attempting to destroy it by ramming. Close enough run that the Agamemnon disappears in the explosion only to triumphantly burst safely through the expanding fireball. Now THAT'S an entrance.
It's from a video game, but still: Halo 4 Spartan Ops the reveal of the USNC Infinity. In a franchise where the Earth ships were always outsized and outgunned, we're for introduced to a walk thru showing just how massive the ship is. Not only is the ship filled with fighters and transports, it serves as a Spartan base with training facilities, tanks and artillery and the coolest AI in the franchise. Then when its time to show what the ship can do it exits hyper space by running through a Covenant Super carrier and then launches a squadron of frigates.

JJ Enterprise's arrival at Titan (in atmosphere), Dallas's arrival to decoy the torpedo in Hunt for Red October, reveal of the Enterprise-E in First Contact, and of course the reveal of The Phoenix's warp engines during her launch (also in First Contact).
I saw First Contact in the theatre and a cheer went up with the Phoenix warp engines extended. Goose bumps for us old Star Trek fans. Such a nice homage.
Say what you want to about the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies but they were visually stunning. That reveal on Titan was one of the best entrances of an Enterprise...
The city destroyers arriving will always be my favourite arrival scene, the music, the effects and build up were just brilliant. Watched that in the cinema and my heart was pounding.
UNSC Infinity coming out of slipspace, ramming through a Covenant corvette and deploying its escort frigates from hanger is my favorite ship reveal moment.

Lots of awesome ship arrivals and reveals, like the alien ship rising from the bottom of the ocean in "Abyss", or the terrific alien mothership in "Close Encounters .. ", several more in the BSG new series. In all it would need a Top 100 i'd guess.
From the Expanse the Rocinante's arrival to rescue Bobbie and Alvasarala when theyre being chased by the Earth battleship is one of my favourites, the tiny ship using tactics and its nimbleness to cripple the much larger ship combined with the confusion oboard the razorback is great
Every generation of Enterprise has been good at 'getting the attention' of the bad guys, but I have to admit, I rather appreciate Riker's wrinkle of making them piss themselves in the process.

I was on a tour at Universal Studios when I was a kid and this adult man asked "do they have to build really small cameras in order to make the space ship models look big?"
I feel like the first sighting of the USG Ishimura in Dead Space deserves a spot. Or say when the Lewis and Clark first encounters the Event Horizon... There's a host of great ship arrivals/reveals just in Space Battleship Yamato's remake alone. Definitely recommend checking that one out.
I always loved the opening scene of Generations with the slow shot of the champagne bottle flying and hitting the Enterprise B while the music is approaching crescendo. Just epic.
It doesn't get talked about enough how in First Contact, Worf on the Defiant has a variation on the Klingon Battle Theme, that faded into the TNG theme as Big-E arrives.
My thought too. I am probably making assumptions here, but I think it's difficult if not impossible for anyone not old enough to have been in a theater in 1977 to fully appreciate how mind-blowing the reveal of that Star destroyer was. it may be cliche to say it, but we had simply NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT at the time. It left an overwhelming impression which still takes hold of me, 47 years later. I, myself would certainly have ranked that one higher.
Yep both excellent scenes, I like the one where the Roci turns up to save Bobbi and Alvasarala when they're on the razorback being chased by the earth battleship
Rocinante from the Expanse has a hella lot of cool scenes: it's maiden voyage by blasting everyone inside the Donnager, fighting Toth station, saving the Razorback and the refugee ship around Ganymede, the list goes on. Also, Marco revealing the Pella in the final fight against the belter fleet in S6s final episode.
I would have included Disney's The Black Hole (1979). When the Cygnus turns on the lights is awesome. The slowly tracking shot reveal of the Discovery in 2001: A Space Odyssey is epic.
Glad to see that you included the F-302 and especially Prometheus arrival to the Battle of Antarctica at least in the HMs. But now, the TOP Reveal of all time for me would be the one from Picard :)
Battlestar as #1 , good on you matie! Should've been a Yamato /Starblazers entry there ... Honorable Mention ... Space 1999 an Eagle survived the battle Alan kills the enemy mothership...
Andromeda Acendent attacks the Nietzchean fleet as Angwl of Death in the Witchhead nebula. Ending of 'Enterprise, where Archers, Kirks and Picards Ships are revealed one after the other. Reveal of the Ent-G. Reveal of the Ent-F. Pretty sure Farscapes Moya has had an good reveal also. Decloaking Ent-D in the Pegasus Episode. First decloaking of the Defiant at DS9. The Serenity in the beginning of The Train Job and in the End of Out Of Gas. Could go on for hours😅.
ID4 is a big old bucket of cheese and i love it, its also got one of the best ship reveals of all time. BSG took things to another level with Adama's atmospheric drop and fighter deployment (yeah i know theyre called vipers so stop pounding the keyboard mr or mrs "actually ")
Best starship entry will lead be the USNS Infinite from Halo being introduced, coming out of hyperspace, cutting a Covenant Super carrier in half, and dropping figures out like fighters.
Maybe it doesn’t quite fit, but the arrival of the TARDIS in the middle of the Dalek fleet during the first series finale of Doctor Who, “The Parting of The Ways” after the Doctor’s companion, Rose, had absorbed the time vortex and become Bad Wolf.
Shocking that B5 scene of the Centauri using asteroid throwing ships decimating the Narn homeward wasn't included. Especially the part showing the Ambassador watching from a viewport was one of the most emotional scenes of any series.
The Lucifer emerging from a subspace jump in the intro to Freespace 1. The only wrinkle is the lack of a full visual, but that of course gives greater punch for later in the game when the Lucifer appears again.

The first time I watched this in theaters was EPIC with the whole place vibrating with the rumbling bass.
I was on a tour at Universal Studios when I was a kid and this adult man asked "do they have to build really small cameras in order to make the space ship models look big?"
Good pick for #1. I didn't know what to expect but I agree.
Yesterday, Stargate Atlantis started 20 years ago, I was 11. I feel old now.
I always loved the opening scene of Generations with the slow shot of the champagne bottle flying and hitting the Enterprise B while the music is approaching crescendo. Just epic.
The Pegasus arrival was absolutely the best. Great work.
@@vonEnglish thank you.
It doesn't get talked about enough how in First Contact, Worf on the Defiant has a variation on the Klingon Battle Theme, that faded into the TNG theme as Big-E arrives.
My favorite here is #8. It was so exciting to see this for the first time in the theatre.
BSP arriving in the Nic of time is definitely my favorite, and that is saying something as there are many good ones to choose from over the years
I enjoyed every second of this little bit of Star ships. Thank you!
Major miss. When the Rocinante saves the refugee ship in the Expanse.
Or in the final episode "Fuck yeah Roci!" 😊
Also the Roci at Thoth Station when it surprised and destroyed the stealth ship.
Yep both excellent scenes, I like the one where the Roci turns up to save Bobbi and Alvasarala when they're on the razorback being chased by the earth battleship
NCC-1701 (with Captain Christopher Pike) at the end of ST:Discovery Season One.
very good work from you , now waiting for part 2 ;)
Thank you. Reading the comments should give you a hint at what it will feature. 😉
So I would suggest 2. The Adama maneuvre, and the scene from Spaceballs that parodies the scene you included here
Glad to see that you included the F-302 and especially Prometheus arrival to the Battle of Antarctica at least in the HMs.
But now, the TOP Reveal of all time for me would be the one from Picard :)
Forward Unto Dawn dropping into atmosphere and pushing you and all the debris back in Halo 3 still gives me chills
Battlestar as #1 , good on you matie!
Should've been a Yamato /Starblazers entry there ...
Honorable Mention ... Space 1999 an Eagle survived the battle Alan kills the enemy mothership...
The Abyss.
Good clips and ships. I’m partial to Destiny from Stargate and the one that blows up so beautifully in Star Wars IV.
I'd suggest a top 50 ship reveal video. Lol. You got a LOT of additions suggestions.
@@aaronmurphy9353 I'm doing that next summer, or maybe this winter, I'm not yet sure.
Good job. Thank you. My total respect from an old school sci-fi guy.
the Enterprise E was a beast of a ship, went toe to toe with some serious competition.
ID4 is a big old bucket of cheese and i love it, its also got one of the best ship reveals of all time.
BSG took things to another level with Adama's atmospheric drop and fighter deployment
(yeah i know theyre called vipers so stop pounding the keyboard mr or mrs "actually ")
I think the arrival of voyager back to the alpha quadrant would be one. The D revel was amazing.
Best starship entry will lead be the USNS Infinite from Halo being introduced, coming out of hyperspace, cutting a Covenant Super carrier in half, and dropping figures out like fighters.
Yeah that was freaking awesome! But it was actually a battle cruiser like the Truth and Reconciliation
Adams maneuver was EPIC and you forgot it. Tsk tsk. Never trust Lee with anything bigger than a Viper!
He managed to break THAT as well in the first episode.
Prometheus showing up flanked by 302s is still the most epic moment in all of Stargate for me.
The Enterprise E should have been higher on the list, one of the best arrival scenes ever! Gives me chills every time.
Serenity coming through the electrostatic cloud when going to Mr Universes planet.....???
DS9 Sacrifice of Angels : The Klingons coming in blasting away with the sun on their backs will always be epic.
Also cool was the uss defiant's arrival at ds9.
A great list from a great selection!
Congrats on 100k views!
Thank you!
This one video is approaching my channel's entire views...
Sorta wanted to see 'Thor's Chariot' showing up.
Great list :) For me number 1 would be The Fleet Arrives (song title) from Mass Effect 3. Man, that was just freeking amazing.
Great choice for number 1
Thank you!
BSG also has the best fighter ships IMO. The way they move in zero G and turn/reverse on a dime is amazing.
